Off 9E in Yuma Foothills area, this place is like a little date Palm Garden Oasis. Dining is outside or under patio with the sound of the water fountain and birds/nature and an occasional passing train. Inside is a store for purchase of dates and local jellies, jams, food products, lots of dates and date history of the farm and gardens. Their deli offers sandwich and soup or sub sandwiches with chips and drink, and/or their advertised date shakes. Order and pay at counter then pick up when your ticket number is called. Well, after 1 try they were closed during their posted business hours. Tried again. No tours available. Counter help was reluctant to take an order. Once we had their attention, I just ordered a shake. I looked around and waited for my shake. And waited. After about 10 minutes I was done looking and asked if my shake was ready, the girl handed me the shake that was left to melt/ get warm as it was left on the counter almost as soon as I had ordered it. I am not a big fan of milkshakes or dates, but Martha's changed that for me. I finished the whole thing, full and satisfied. I had no idea there were any other varieties than just the Medjool. The lady behind the counter was very helpful and there are signs around the store explaining the different varieties and how to store dates. We've been storing them wrong for a long time and now I know why they are always dry. That might be why I wasn't a big fan of dates. Martha's also has a nice varieties of other items and a deli. I purchased a bottle of date syrup and a package of chipotle corn bread mix. Sitting outside on a warm day, with a sight breeze, and listening to the water is very pleasing. They also provide farm tours and I was amazed at all of the trees. read more

We are big Date fans, we eat them natural, my wife bakes with them also. We stayed in Yuma one night while passing through Yuma and decided to stop by buy some dates. We stopped by early on a weekday in June, we were the only people in the store. Only one staff member working in the store and was very friendly. We bought an 11lb. My mother and I took the farm tour a few months ago...I think it was the first tour of the season in early November. For someone who knew nothing about dates, I found the tour really informative. A month and half after the tour, I ordered dates through their website to be mailed to my Mom. I accidentally ordered the wrong thing. Visiting Yuma and stopped by for a date shake. I do have to agree they are very good and refrrshing. Martha Garden has the right combination of dates and ice cream to make it a nice tasty treat. The shop has a nice patio area and have a menu of fast food. I saw you can do tours of the grounds but don't know if you call ahead or just walk up. I was a bit disappointed. It's at the end of a dirt road (not a problem) but it's just a little place with not much to see or do. You can buy dates and you can get a sandwich at the cute little deli (very nice) but other than that, there's not much there. If you have time and you're in the Foothills, it's worth stopping by to say you did. If you're not out at that end of Yuma, though, I wouldn't encourage a trip just for this. read more

This is a great place to take a break and relax along your travels. This place is probably the best location to buy dates in Yuma. They have a great selection of dates in different sizes along with s small menu of food at the counter. I bought a small bag of jumbo dates and a date shake, which was very delicious. If you never had a date before, they have samples in the front counter. What I loved more about this place is that they are very clean. It was my first time here but when I walked in, I did noticed that someone was constantly cleaning the kitchen area. The view outside is also amazing along which goes perfectly with a date shake. Another cool little place off highway 8 (while traveling to Arizona) well worth a quick stop. This place has gardens and a pretty fountain as well as a gift shop to check out. First time it has been open in the summer, the winter being their busy months when the snowbirds arrive. We caught them open and was able to purchase some dates and some honey. Sweet garden and a nice walk along the date palm grove...however, leading up to this place one may be lead to believe that it's an actual produce farm, it's not. Nice place to get a wide variety of date products to take home. At least five different date types to try and buy, including Iraq dates, which raises this rating by a star. Good price on bulk. Down a half mile dirt/gravel road right next to the railroad tracks - easy to pass and have to go back. Other than the date shake and pre-packed items, the menu is mostly traditional sandwiches - not much "date" specific menu items. Tour looks good but we did not have time. We preferred the overall experience and menu at a date farm in nearby Wellton to this one. read more

We have been doing business with Martha's Garden since they opened and there is no other place for dates than here. Recently I needed to order some dates shipped to some of our family in Washington state and had some questions regarding the carrier/shipper.
