We signed up for Auto Insurance, Classic Auto Insurance, and a renters policy. After we signed the papers and paid the premium... 1st: we received a phone call from office stating that we did not qualify for a discount previously agreed too, the premium went up over $100 a year. This should have been enough and we should have backed out at this time. Bait and switch anyone? 2nd: at the time of writing and signing the policy my wife's Drivers License was expired. This was not a problem when they are taking your money. We received another call asking if it was expired and telling us we need to come in and show the new one. We had it renewed but did not get a chance to come in to the office, no time limit was set on this request. 3rd: One of the auto policies was sold to us as "unlimited mileage" and in fact we received a phone call stating that it was, in fact, a limited mileage policy. I double checked with the agent (name: Noe) that this was unlimited mileage before signing the paper. When I asked what the limit was, he could not tell me. I told him to find out and call me back. I called him three times, he was always not available, and never returned my calls. The fourth time I spoke with the manager. What Insurance company does not return your calls? why can't you tell me what the mileage restriction is? Why wasn't this disclosed at the time of the policy signing? She stated that she was sorry, the mileage limit was 2500 a YEAR. she did offer to change the policy to unlimited, it would ONLY cost DOUBLE the premium! no thank you I said. She said she would have Noe call me, he never did (surprise surprise). 4th: Today we get a letter from State Farm stating the policy is canceled because of an unacceptable risk, I turned right at a stop sign and got a ticket, and they cannot find ANY record of a VALID drivers license for my wife... She has a valid drivers license, they stated they cannot find it going through the secretary of state. I call bullsh!t on this. It is truly sad. We THOUGHT that going through a local business (or at least office) with local people working we were doing a good thing, and we THOUGHT that the policies we were buying were sold to us truthfully. In fact, the Agent was eager to sell us policies he either: -Did not understand and just wanted his commission or -Did understand it, sold us on a bait and switch, and tried to pull a scam. Either way it is crappy. When we sit down, I ask questions and you answer them, we agree, shake hands, and exchange money, IT IS DONE, OVER, the DEAL HAS BEEN MADE. Coming back to the table, changing the rules, and asking for more money is textbook slime-ball sleaze sales. Harsh but true. These are not PEOPLE I would expect anyone to do business with. I have friends that I discovered (after i paid) go through this office for insurance. They said the SAME BS went with them. I will be pushing everyone I know, meet, or otherwise come across to NOT USE STATE FARM for any insurance, anytime, under any circumstances. The ONE value you NEED in your insurance company is TRUST and these people deserve NONE. I will be going back to Progressive, the not local, internet based company that I TRUST.

The process involved numerous insurance quotes, a new policy, revisions to my current home's policy declaring it as a secondary residence, and so on. I contacted my parents' brokerage, Brent Jablonski Allstate Insurance Agency in Fox Lake, IL, and had the absolute blessing of having Rebecca Krause handle my policies. What an angel she was! Any time I needed anything, Becky got it done immediately. The last 2 weeks before closing required constant calls, revisions, payments, etc. No problem for Becky. She was so efficient in taking care of it all. She also did all she could to save me money on both policies. Becky made me feel like I was her only client. Even on days when she was so busy with other clients, she made sure to call me at the end of her day to answer my questions and update me. She even listened to me rant about the hassle I was going through trying to get the payoff statement from my parents' mortgage company. Becky was so kind, knowledgeable, reassuring, and empathetic. She wasn't just my insurance agent, she was like my therapist during all the stress--truly the calm in my storm. She cared so much. And then, at the end of it all, when the new policy was uploaded into my online Allstate account with my auto and other home policy, I discovered that the brokerage Becky works for wouldn't even be my insurance agency! The new policy gets added to my other home's brokerage account. Becky knew that all along and still dedicated herself to me as if I were her number one client! That is service and care that seems so rare in today's society. (It is a process to switch brokers, but I will likely do that because of Becky's service, and the fact that she is more local than my current broker). Only after being involved in an accident did I discover that the coverage was far more limited than I had been led to believe. The policy did not even cover damage to my own vehicle when I was at fault, along with many other situations that I reasonably expected to be included. I feel that the policy was misrepresented, and that I was not given a clear explanation of its actual limitations. What is particularly frustrating is that I paid several times more for this policy than I could have paid elsewhere for comparable or better coverage. My experience has left me feeling misled and disappointed. I encourage anyone considering this agency to carefully read every detail of the policy and not rely solely on the agent's description of the coverage.
