Terrible customer service at both locations. I will be honest, I am beyond frustrated right now with my experience at both locations and frankly not sure I will go back. I literally would have put a deposit down and/or walked out with the truck (THF141427). On Sunday we drove a hour to your CDA location to look at trucks, your website doesn't say what is where, no big deal. We got there and a brand new sales guy, met us and looked up and said all the 2017-2019 Chevy and GMC diesel trucks were in Kellogg, he did say you shuttle them but they are closed on Sunday. So when trying to connect with Kellogg the next day to look and various trucks, the website must connect me back to CDA. That is how Mike connected with me and I politely explained I wanted to go to Kellogg, he was beyond rude to me and told me that the Kellogg location only sells new trucks. He was so rude and aggressive towards me that I literally had to hang up on me. He was extremely offended I wanted to drive to the Kellogg location. You know it's bad when the Sales Manager calls you unprompted to apologize later in the evening because he overheard the conversation. I got connected to Kellogg location and made an appointment to come look at that truck and any others, I drove two hours to get there and found out that in fact a bunch of the trucks were actually in CDA, WTF, but the one I really wanted to look at was there, so okay. When I was 5 minutes out from my appointment I got a call from a different sales person, saying that I had been passed on to him because the previous guy got busy, whatever that was fine. I got there the young kid had the keys, great. We looked at the truck, looked for others, turns out most are in CDA, again whatever, we test drove the truck, I like it and wanted to chat about what we could work out. It has a cracked window needs buffed and new tires. Sat down with the kid and I kid you not (pun not intended), had no idea what to do, tried to chat next steps, clueless, can we chat with you manager to discuss, crickets, turns out everyone leaves at 6, they are open until 7, he said no one was there. Had no idea what to do, I said well I like the truck, and going to be out of town all week, he said okay and was quiet. I literally had to ask him if I could put a deposit down so it wouldn't be sold. He couldn't even help me. I literally was trying to give him my money. Nope, he was more interested in going home. I am beyond myself and Dave Smith just lost a customer. One rating, the worst experience I have ever had. Literally I wanted to buy the truck and it was the most awkward experience ever, literally didn't know what to do.

Read the whole thing, they're way OVERCHARGING FOR simple fixes! $230+ Hourly rate I was quoted for 4 hours of work, I ended up fixing it myself and it took me less than 45 minutes. And I'm no mechanic. Made an appt to have an alarm fixed that stated the vehicle wasn't in park. Get 3 emails confirming my appt, and scheduled loaner vehicle. Scheduled it in Kellogg, because I wanted to look at a few vehicles to possibly replace mine. Show up, and the Front Desk Lady (very helpful and nice, the only good part of this review) informs me I have no appt in their system and they are out of loaners. Show her the emails, and thankfully she checks and gets my truck looked at rather quickly. Then I'm informed that it's a "Defective Park Position Switch", and it would be 4+ HOURS of labor. I get a quote at $950! I had already found the part online and it was less than $30! So a $230 HOURLY LABOR RATE?!? I declined them fixing it. I went home and it TOOK ME LESS THAN 45 MIN I had the steering column apart, the park position switch fixed, took it for a test drive and a few parking tests, the steering column put back together, and my tools put away! ME! Someone whose mechanical/vehicle knowledge doesn't extend past oil changes, tire changes, and replacing the windshield fluid! I CHANGED IT IN 1/4 OF THE TIME it would take DAVE SMITHS CERTIFIED MECHANICS?! I call Bull! You guys are robbing people! All I had to do was watch a YouTube video and needed a screwdriver, and socket. I 100% won't be buying a new vehicle here now. Any service I need I'll go to a local Post Falls/CDA mechanic instead of you wasting my time for me driving all the way over there, telling me I don't have an appointment when I clearly have proof, not having a loaner that I reserved and then trying to absolutely bamboozle me.

I was completely up side down in the car I had, Chandler, James, and Al were amazing. They got me out of it without getting "hosed". Gave me a great deal on an extended warranty too. Then we came back and bought a new Corvette. Chandler goes above and way beyond what he does to make sure you're comfortable and feel good about your decision. I will travel from western Washington to buy a car here!

Made a deal over the phone on a new 2026 GMC Canyon. Drove 7.5 hours to pick it up on 1/5/2026. When I went to sign paperwork, finance manager Raymond Routh had a $4,500 warranty added on top of what I was supposed to pay for the truck. When I told him "no" on the warranty, he said that this is an added option they do that would not come out of my pocket and that it doesn't go on your loan. He gave me no option to check a box saying no. At the end of everything, this $4,500 was added on top of my loan. When I went back in to tell him I wasn't going to pay for this, he told me that the finance company requires it and that I can cancel it after my first payment. I had no option but to be stuck with the added warranty that he told me I would not have to pay for. When I got home, I called the finance company ( Santander ) and they informed me that they do not require any added warranty for my loan, so basically Raymond Routh lied to me. Then when I tried emailing and calling Raymond Routh, he never answered or returned my calls. My salesman DJ, finally got the AUL warranty cancelled on 1/14/2026 and told me it would take up to 6 weeks and my $4500.00 would be refunded towards the lender. Now it has been 6 weeks and still haven't seen my refund. Once again, I left several emails / calls to Raymond Routh and get "0" responses. I will follow up when I get my refund for the AUL warranty but would strongly urge not to buy from this dealership. The salesman, DJ, was good to deal with but the Finance manager Raymond Routh is a crook.

I did get the truck I wanted after multiple delays and frustration but the experience was anything but "Hassle Free". I was told it would be ready and booked airline tickets only to have to cancel plans three times because the truck was not ready as promised. Then, they tried to force me into buying it by the end of the month, site unseen or they were going to put it back into inventory even though I had a deposit and they were the ones who didn't have it ready. Ended up driving 7 and 1/2 hours only to find the rock chips in the paint we were told would be taken care of were not. William, our salesman did get those fixed while we waited but then after we signed and got in the truck my wife noticed 3 chips in the windshield on her side that we didn't see because William sat there on the test drive. Put it back in park and walked back in. William said he saw those chips but neglected to say anything to us. Told me I would have to speak with Greg the sales manager who was busy and would call me. After two hours, no call so walked back in. I explained the situation to Greg and told him that I would have not proceeded with the chips in the windshield if I had seen them, that William saw them and for some reason didn't bother to say anything to us and I just spent a lot of money. At the very least it was a safety issue but he told me they had done everything they could do and my only option was to give the truck back because they had three other people interested in it. To make matters worse I had to put DEF fluid in it on the way home because they left it almost empty. So much for an 80 point safety check. They came recommended but I am sorry to say I cannot recommend them to anyone. read more

Service technicians are terrible at their job and always behind schedule. Front staff gals are nice but the arrogant and cocky technicians have no idea what they are doing and gaslight customers. NEVER take your car here to get fixed. They misdiagnosed my bearings being bad, but it wasn't the problem. It was a 4x4 hub lock actuator. I told them that going in but that arrogant technician thought he knew better and treated me like an idiot. Turned out I was right but had to pay for his stupidity. I knew I was right because another shop in CDA told me the problem was the actuator but I couldn't leave the truck 40 min from my home. Arrogant, inept and constantly behind schedule mechanics. And their phone system rarely works, often have to call back multiple times to get it to actually to through or you get on a loop of hold then back to first menu. Been in the valley a few years and always heard never take your car here, now I know why so I'm passing it on: never take your car here for repair. read more

The most disappointing car buying experience I have ever had. When I found a price that matched theirs AND I did not have to fly to ID and drive 900 miles home, they refused to give me my $500 deposit back. I left voice mail messages for Eric Smith (owner) with no reply. Also spoke to sales manager that never responded with an answer on why they refused to return my deposit. I never received anything for my deposit other than a price quote. I've had to file a dispute with American Express to get my deposit back. Very unprofessional of Dave Smith motors read more

This is the worst experience we could have had and we are still dealing with them!!! We have purchased a Ram 3500 Limited truck with all of the bells and whistles. We are in Seattle and we have done all of the necessary paperwork and paid for the truck in full! They have our money and it has been weeks!!! First they said that our salesman was fired. We cannot get management on the phone, no one will return our calls. There is NO customer service and you should RUN if you consider even looking here. I wish we had!!! read more

Horrible experience, will not be purchasing another vehicle from Dave Smith ever again. I live in Alaska and my family has purchased over 10 vehicles from Dave Smith in the past 20 years. From the start the process was never clear, I had to facilitate everything between my Bank in AK and Dave Smith, never knowing what steps I was supposed to take next. Once my Bank mailed Dave Smith the checks to purchase the vehicle and I had signed all the documents and mailed back to Dave Smith. I then emailed my salesman and let him know I had signed all the documents and had set up transport from the port in Seattle to Anchorage, and asked if there was anything else I needed to do on my end. No response. I waited a few days and emailed again asking for an update, again no response. The shipping company in Seattle said they had no information on the vehicle coming from Dave Smith yet. I had to finally get a hold of a manager just to get a response back on where my vehicle was, it had been over 2 weeks since I had signed and overnight shipped all the documents back from Dave Smith. Finally my salesman got back in contact with me and let me know that my vehicle had been sitting at the dealership waiting for me to set up and pay for the transport from Dave Smith to Seattle. I was under the impression that Dave Smith was setting up that transport, but nonetheless I had asked 2 weeks prior if I needed to do anything else on my end but they never responded to me. So the Truck I had already paid for sat on the lot at Dave Smith for 2 weeks. After I paid and set up the transport from Dave Smith to Seattle I found out it would be at least another 3 weeks before my vehicle arrived in AK. I reached back out to my salesman asking if Dave Smith would be willing to pay the difference ($700) for me to expedite the shipping. And again I received no response back. I was uneasy about purchasing a vehicle out of state that I hadn't seen in person, but the experience my family had in the past I thought I could trust Dave Smith Motors. It is unfortunate it went down this way as I would have continued buying vehicles from Dave Smith in the future, but after this experience I will not be. read more

My best friend was willing to drive almost 6 hours just to get a truck here because the prices are so good but didn't look at the reviews. That was the first mistake, after being approved she found out they ran her credit over 6 TIMES making her credit score go down and did not tell her they'd be doing that. They practically pushed her to do a down payment so they won't sell it to anyone else, she spent 2 weeks talking about prices they kept changing and when they weren't giving her answers she asked for her payment back she put down and they promised it the next day they'd send an email confirmation on the refund and she never got so she tried getting ahold of the manager for 3 days, finally did and the manager promised a receipt over text and never sent it so she asked again and they sent a shitty hand written "receipt" and still hasn't gotten the money back in her account to this day. She then reported them. Now we're hearing stories about how they won't refund down payments, they might give "credit towards their company accessories " Don't do your business here, not a trusting company. Just look at their reviews and stories. They're the worst read more

As you can see in all the other comments these people are getting away with unethical stuff on a daily basis. I drove 7 hours and brought 2 vehicles to trade in our dream truck but we were in for a big surprise. When we got there we were told our deal we had been quoted was not going to happen. I was pissed because we drove so far and we had waited a week before we could get over there yet no on called to say they had found an error they had made. Their "error" was 19,000 dollars! Yeah so we got screwed and drove all that way to get the same deal I had lined up 30 min from home but I wasn't driving 2 vehicles back home so we still bought the truck I don't have my permanent plates yet but I have people ask about my experience there since I still have the bright DS plates on there. Every person has said the same thing like oh we made a mistake, oh well the truck you put the deposit on was already sold, etc. Bait and switch is illegal and how they continue to get away with it is beyond me but save yourself time and money and stay close to home. I will never go there again nor recommend them. Worst experience of my life read more

We will definitely be back to see robin to purchase any future vehicles. read more

Agreed to purchase a new 2019 Ram Tradesman Quad Cab 4X4 pickup the last week of January, 2019, at an agreed upon price based on the price of 2 competitors. I foolishly provided them with my debit card number for the $500 deposit before I saw anything in writing. The next day their finance department called to advise me of my credit acceptance and the pricing information. It was then that I learned of a new price, a price that would actually be higher than their competitors. Come on guys...be real. After speaking with their sales rep and thinking that this could probably be worked out I was told (only) that I agreed to this and that I agreed to that with no attempt to resolve the situation at hand. Being the rep from the credit department was very professional and polite and knowing that these people move a lot of equipment, I thought that the sales rep was probably the issue. However, almost 3 weeks after the fact I get an email from a Scott Johnson who identified himself as a Dave Smith "Sales Manager" and wanted to make sure that if I was less than "THRILLED" with my purchase to contact him direct...which I did, and you guessed it, no follow up. These people also need to learn to talk to each other instead of forwarding all of their meaningless form letters to assumed customers. Recommendation: Before you do business with these people make sure you get everything in writing before you even consider providing them with their required $500 deposit and/or make the trip to Kellogg. They truly fit the role of the classic car dealer and then some. Be aware! read more

ABSOLUTELY the worst experience EVER trying to purchase a pickup! I WOULD HIGHLY DIS COURAGE anyone from wasting their time dealing with any person --especially Colin Grady--or trying to purchase ANY vehicle from DAVE SMITH MOTORS! They totally messed up the pickup I had ordered---then---I and another person drove over to get it only to find that it was not what I had been told at all. So we had to drive another 2 to 3 hours back to Missoula---a total waste of 2 persons time. Also---I had an employee of mine drive to missoula to get the truck and drive it back to Billings---so his time ( 10 hours) also a waste! Then---not a SINGLE APOLOGY--or phone call--or any suggestion as to fixing their mess---then I REPEATEDLY had to call ---no one would call back---trying to get my deposit refunded. They did not want to talk or deal with it---was put on hold for over 10 minutes waiting for one of their worthless managers to come to the phone---which they would not even take the time to talk to me. THIS IS JUST A horrible dealership. read more

We live 7 hours away from Dave Smith motors. We had heard good things about them so we thought we would give them a chance instead of buying local. First pickup we bought was a used Dodge 1500. We made arrangements to drive up and look at it. Our salesman was really impressed with the pickup and couldn't find a thing wrong with it. We bought it, spent the night and headed home the next morning. We got about half way home, the pickup started making front end noises and shaking. We pulled over at the last truck stop before we had nowhere to pull off for 100 miles. My husband climbed underneath it and discovered you could move the drive line up and down about 1/2 an inch. We called a tow truck and had it taken to the nearest Dodge dealer which was an hour away. Of course it was Friday so we waited over the weekend to hear from them. The dealership that had it called us on Tuesday. They called us and the first question was "how far did you drive this?" I told him about 200 miles...half way home. He then informed us that not only was the drive train egged out at the transfer case, the bracket that holds the right axle on was gone, therefore, NOTHING was holding it on! Dave Smith motors told us they replaced the right front CV joint....but nobody noticed there was no bracket holding the axle on?!? Thank God we didn't end up in a horrible accident! I called Jake and our salesman and told them what was going on, repairs were $4000.00, it would take 2 weeks to get parts and I did not want the truck. They were understanding and said they would cancel the deal and get the truck back to their dealership. We were asked to give them another chance. So......we did. Dumb I know! We went back up the following week, spent the night again, and met our salesman at 8:15 in the morning. We were their top priority! Right.....we got there, test drove the first of 2 pickups we were looking at. It shook like crazy. It was supposed to have new tires in it but "slipped thru the cracks." While our salesman Dominic took it to the tire shop to have that done we drive the 2nd one. A little surprised that when we found it the windshield had a crack in it about 10" long and the automatic steps didn't work. We dove it anyway. We got back to the dealership and waited.....and waited......drove up to McDonalds there in town to get something to eat only to find out from another customer there is a cafe in the "new" car sales building for customers....which was about 50 feet away. Would have been nice to know. We found Jake and gave him our tow bill from the prior pickup. He asked us where our salesman was. No idea....at this point I am in tears, my husband is running short on patience and it's noon. But we are a priority.....Long story short.....we left there at 3pm. They did put the pickup back in their shop to try to fix the steps while we were there. Nope.....seized up. Need new ones. No money to cover them, per Jake, unless we wanted tube steps. He might be able to put those on for us. The automatic ones are NOT factory don't ya know?!? On a King Ranch....check your computer again friend...they ARE! That's why they got missed in the shop...the tech wasn't looking for them since they are an add on....Really?!? We declined. I asked him which service shop it went thru and got "it went thru our Coeur d'Alene shop so I have no idea who looked at it" answer. So did the Dodge we bought....In the end, we have a pickup that we took to our local dealership, they pressure washed and greased the steps. They work perfectly and did I mention, are stock?!? We got the windshield replaced. They did finally send us a check for the tow bill and most of the windshield. No offer to pay for our hotel either night but Jake did approve them topping off my gas tank before we left. Wow....we have put in calls and left messages for Dominic our salesman, Jake the manager of used car sales and Marcus the manager of managers I guess. He was really nice the first time I talked to him about this whole nightmare and was going to call me back by 11am the day we talked "because he doesn't take stuff like this lightly and we are a priority." That was 3 weeks ago...have heard a word. When all 3 agree that first pickup should never have left their lot maybe they need to think about reckless endangerment. Needless to say, we will NEVER buy from them again and neither will anyone who asks us about our experience. It was absolutely terrible! Lesson learned. Too bad they don't have better customer service skills. Their prices may be better than some but it's not worth the money to deal with them! read more

I left home and joined the military in 1995 when I was 18. I've been buying cars on my own since then and between my wife and I we've owned 13 vehicles in the last 16+ years. Some of those purchases have been because of necessity, (breakdowns, births, wrecks, etc.), and some have been because we wanted to trade up, (we've come a long ways since my $650 a month paychecks in the 90's). The one consistent thing until now has been that I hated nothing more than buying a vehicle. Dealers have always lied, cheated, and done anything they could to make my wife and I feel like they were doing us a favor by even talking to us. I've left every dealership in the past feeling like I had been in a prize fight. Sometimes I felt like a I came out ok, but it always felt like a fight. Enter Audrey Goodson and Jeff from the Parts Department at Dave Smith Motors. I called Audrey because I had been to Lithia Jeep of Great Falls and had been lied to repeatedly and offered $24k for my 2011 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited. They had also wanted MSRP for their Jeep and said confidently I wouldn't find a better price anywhere. It was basically the same story everywhere in Montana. I talked to Jeep dealers in Bozeman, Butte, and Missoula. They didn't lie that I know of, but all wanted a premium for their Jeep while offering nothing for mine. In five minutes on the phone with Audrey, she gave me a price that was $4.5k less than anyone in Montana, and offered me $30k for my Jeep which was Blue Book and exactly what I told her I wanted. My family and I drove to Idaho, took the kids to Silverwood Amusement Park, and then went to pick up my new Jeep. The Jeep was everything I could have wanted. Jeff from Parts did his research for me and hooked the Jeep up with some excellent accesories at a great price, and the thing was awesome. No surpirses in the trade or the price. Audrey made sure we got all the rebates, and military/college discounts available to me. The paperwork was quick, and Audrey gave us a great looking gift basket when we were done. We were so happy with the Jeep when we got home that we decided to trade my wife's 2005 Nissan Titan as well. I didn't even bother calling anyone else. I called Audrey and she offered us $16k for the Titan, (which again was Blue Book and exactly what I asked for), and came off something like $9.5k between discounts and allowances on the price of their Ram 1500 right from the start. No hassle, and once again Jeff hooked us up with all the accessories we wanted. He spoke my language and knew where to get everything I wanted at a great price. We drove 300 miles out to Kellogg, ID again 4 days after the first trip, (so worth the trip), and picked up the new truck, which again is awesome and everything we wanted. They even gave us another gift basket. I can't say enough about the way these folks do business. It's amazing to buy vehicles from someone who isn't trying to make their entire month's earnings off of you. I'll be returning there when my daughter turns 16 and when my wife and I are ready to trade in our Jeep and Ram, but as much as we love them it might be a while. I hope Audrey and Jeff are still there when we're ready. If you think this reviewis BS, take a look at my other reviews out there. If I don't like a business, I tell it like it is. I've seen some positive reviews out there posted for businesses like Lithia where the reviewer says he lives in Vegas and drove all the way to Great Falls, MT to deal with them, but the reviewers profile says he lives in Great Falls. Really? I can't say specifically where I work or what I do because my job prohibits me from officially endorsing causes or businesses with my position, but if you see me rolling around Great Falls in my Deep Cherry Red 2012 Wrangler Unlimited with its black rims, off-road bumper, and Warn winch on the front, you'll know I'm for real. Give Audrey a call at Dave Smith, you won't be sorry. read more

Hello to who it may concern, just wanted to share my experience with DSM over this past week. May 2019 Before I begin, I want to share that I purchased a RAM truck in July of 2014 and had a wonderful experience with salesman Jamie _____. It was truly a seamless process with Jamie. He never pressured, he gave me a very respectable number for the truck. He never once inquired about if and if I had done financing with anyone. He just had assumed I had. Which I did get pre-approval thru my credit union. We were actually able to take home without the RAM truck being fully funded yet. I've recommended friends and acquaintances since that time to go to DSM if they were looking for a new vehicle to purchase. To this very day I enjoy having the truck. However this past week I called the 1-800 number to get a salesman to inquire about Jeep Wranglers. I was working with a sales associate via online/email but that wasn't panning out. I went ahead and asked for whoever was available. I have been working xxxx, xxxx and briefly xxx. I have specifically asked all 3 of them that my financing has been covered via my credit union. I was NOT interested in financing or comparing what DS Motors had to offer thru their various loan lenders. Between the 3 of them, they put pressure on me and mentioned at least 10 times how I should at least look to DS for financing. After I asked xxx that we weren't interested in financing, he quickly brought up why not and asked for my interest rate and terms! All 3 asked for my interest rate and terms with my credit union. Told them again I am not interested in looking anywhere else. Please don't bring it up. They also continually mentioned how they CAN"T do "this" unless I put $500 down. They mentioned this at least 3 times. xxxx even asked me for $500 4 hours prior to me arriving in Kellogg. xxxx said they could not release car to me unless it was funded, which I agreed and understood (even though this wasn't the case with my previous purchase with DSM, I told him we can come to Kellogg the following week if need be. But he brought up how he can "pull some strings" have my wife and I sign a "5-line application" and they would hold on to it and not run it thru their finance company, which he finally mentioned it was Allied. In doing this we could bring the Jeep home. I agreed to this, but once on site story changed and he was going to get my credit "checked" with Allied. This is once again not what was agreed to on phone. I simply walked out, but then as I walked out mentioned we can't do PO over phone or online via my credit union. Which I simply couldn't believe he would go to such tactics. Much more detail, but I can tell you the experience with (xxxx)was not a good one and completely contrary to DSM being "hassle free". I would say the opposite happened with this transaction. It was nothing but a Hassle working with xxxx and Dave Smith Motors Between the constant asking for $500 and the untruths regarding financing thru DSM/Allied financing was very tiresome. It is/was quite obvious that DSM has trained their personnel to push the financing. It is a sad practice to see how relenting DSM is. But apparently landing a customer via DSM financing is very lucrative to you guys. If I decide to do business there again in future. I would request to work with your most professional and integrity driven salesman. I will not work with xxxx/xxxx/xxxx again. I will obviously not be directing family, friends and others to DSM. Thank You read more

I had bought a vehicle from Dave smith before and thought even though we live further away now (Michigan) that I would buy from them again. WHAT A JOKE!!!! The sales rep I was dealing with (Houston) just made excuse after excuse as to why he never called me back and I had to call in in order to talk to someone. At one point I was looking at paying CASH for a vehicle. Do you know that I still have yet to hear from them and it's been a week and half?!? No call, no email, no nothing! I could have bought the vehicle and picked it up by now. Taking my business elsewhere and I will never buy from them again. They say it's the easiest process to go with Dave smith it's by far the hardest. Don't waste your time!!!!!!!! read more

My fiance and I just bought a Jeep Grand Cherokee at Dave Smith on 3/26/16. We live in the Seattle area, and had been shopping for a couple of months before we discovered Dave Smith. We started by filling out a request for info on their website, and then we were contacted by a sales consultant, Caroline. Throughout the entire process, Caroline was a total superstar. She quickly responded to all of our inquiries, and kept in close contact with us on any updates. We looked at several different builds of Grand Cherokees with Caroline before settling on the right one for us. Caroline was much faster responding with new information and photos than even much smaller dealerships that are in the Seattle area. Once we got on site to pick up our Jeep, we realized just how amazing that responsiveness was given the scale of the Dave Smith operation - there are over 3,000 vehicles in their inventory! It's not as easy as just walking out the door to the lot and taking a picture of the vehicle you're looking for, yet Caroline was much faster at getting us info than local dealerships with only one small lot. With her help, Dave Smith Motors was able to offer us a Grand Cherokee with a couple of extra features beyond what we were looking for at a price that was BELOW what our local dealerships were offering. Even with the cost of flying out to Spokane after work Friday, getting a hotel for the night, and the cost of gas to drive the vehicle back to Seattle, we still got a substantially better deal than our local dealerships were willing to honor. I say "willing to honor" rather than "offering", because Auto Nation Bellevue offered us the same price... but as soon as we walked in the door, suddenly the deal evaporated in a wisp of sales manager excuses about qualifying rebates, etc etc.... classic bait and switch stuff. Because of that experience, we were concerned about getting all the way out to Idaho only to find that our deal had evaporated, but this was not the case with Dave Smith Motors & Caroline. They honored the price they quoted - the entire process was fair, comfortable, and personal. For a lot of people, buying a new car and negotiating can be very stressful. If that's you, just give Caroline a call (ext 1334). In fact, the entire dealership experience was fantastic. For those of you who have never been, the entire town of Kellogg seems to be comprised of Dave Smith dealerships. It's like car/truck Disnelyand. On Saturdays, they do a free barbeque for customers (although I'd recommend going on a weekday if you can, given the volume of people there on Saturdays). Caroline walked us through a thorough process, including inspecting the vehicle, features, test-driving, a full briefing with the service department on how to maintain our new Jeep, and even took us over to get our BBQ lunch and sat and ate with us. I disdain rhetoric and overused phrases like "treated us like family", but she did treat us like family - that's how it really felt. To sum it all up, here's the key points about our experience with Dave Smith Motors: - Fantastic, comprehensive, and personable service from Caroline and the rest of the team - Unbeatable price - Fun and entertaining dealership experience - Honest, straightforward dealing without the typical new car sales tactics/pressure We will definitely be returning to Dave Smith Motors and working with Caroline again in the future, and would strongly recommend anyone looking to buy a car or truck to do the same. read more

Bought a new truck here in 2014, with Mopar accessories installed at the dealership before we took possession of the truck. A few days ago water started to pour through the headliner during a rainstorm. Brought it to my local dealer who investigated and found that roof lights had been installed incorrectly and leaked when they sprayed water on the roof. They initially told me I had to go back to the original dealer to get them fixed, so I called Dave Smith. The Service Department was too busy to answer the phone so I was transferred to some sort of answering service. I explained that the lights they installed were leaking and that it was urgent because the truck isn't garaged and I was worried about the interior being ruined. I needed warrantee info so I could take appropriate measures to get it repaired. The lady assured me that she was going to mark this urgent and that she would see to it they would get the message and call me right back. Nothing. Never heard back. In the mean time my local dealer showed me how Dave Smith had never sealed the lights and had only used a foam gasket that had cracked/deteriorated after less than two years. They also found the installation service record online and told me they would fix it locally as a warrantee repair. They got me in last minute on a Friday morning and then scheduled the repair first thing Saturday morning to minimize any damage caused by further leakage. Kudos to my local dealer, rotten tomatoes for Dave Smith. read more

We purchased a 2019 Ram Laramie on Saturday, November 23rd and it was possibly the worst car buying experience due to our sales person, Sean. Let me start by stating that we live in Portland, OR and have only heard wonderful things about the prices and selection at Dave Smith so when it came time to purchase a new Ram we knew where to look. My husband knew the exact model he wanted and was down to two different trucks (between a 2500 and 3500). We eventually determined the vehicle we wanted and sent an inquiry to Dave Smith on Friday, November 13th and were contacted immediately by a salesman named Sean. We told him we wanted the truck ASAP and were prepared to come down on Saturday the 23rd to pick it up. He directed us to fill out our finance paperwork online which we did immediately. By Tuesday of the next week my husband had called several times to see if we were approved for financing. They eventually told us that yes we were but they didn't have the rates. We called again on Wednesday to find out the rates for the financing, again no answer. By Thursday my husband told them we weren't driving nearly 7 hours without knowing what the financing rates and options were. They finally responded with our rates and also provided us a copy of a Power of Attorney form as my husband was making the trip to Idaho solo therefore I needed to sign over power of attorney to him. We took the form to the bank on Friday, the 22nd and while we were getting it notarized we discovered that Sean had put the wrong vin # and truck model on the form to be notarized. We immediate called Sean to describe the problem and received no answer and were told they would leave him a ' priority' message. I continued to call as it was nearing closing time at the bank and we were scheduled to arrive in Idaho tomorrow morning to sign all the papers. I eventually got ahold of Sean and explained to him our problem to which he replied "oh, I guess just cross out the truck model and vin and we will write the correct info in." I explained to him that beings it was a notarized document that allowed my husband power of attorney for me to purchase a vehicle that it really shouldn't be amended by hand and requested he send over an updated document. He replied "Well I guess I can but it will take a while." Needless to say he never emailed an updated form over so we continued on with our hand scribbled Power of Attorney notice that we already had. Fast forward to my husband arriving at Dave Smith after making an appointment with Sean on Saturday morning. He waited around because Sean had double booked himself that morning and wasn't able to meet with him as scheduled. After finally getting to my husband, Sean worked at an ever-so-slow pace and had to get assistance from other salesmen to complete basic tasks. He then sat my husband down at his desktop computer and had MY HUSBAND calculate the Oregon tax he needed to pay as he went off to assist another customer. When it came time to pay for the tax, several other credit cards popped up as options for him to pay meaning Sean doesn't know how to clear out credit card information (comforting, right?). After completing the payment Sean failed to print the certificate to show the tax was paid and had to find someone else who could assist in printing it. Overall, despite all financing being complete and knowing exactly what truck we wanted, my husband spent 4 hours at the dealership. I will categorically refuse to purchase another vehicle from Dave Smith after that experience. Having to drive a total of nearly 14 hours round trip and having to wait at the dealership while a helpless salesman double books appointments and doesn't know how to operate a computer was a WASTE of time. We would have been much better off spending (nearly) the same price at a local dealership. The truck is amazing however the salesman's ignorance, sloth-like speed, and overall carelessness means I will never be a repeat customer and I will warn everyone else off as well. read more

Purchased my vehicle from Dave smith last year, told them that I had my own financing and made it very clear that To the finance a MANAGER did not want my credit ran and that I was not applying for a loan (multiple times) and that I had my own financing through numerica credit union. When I got home I went to the bank and they told me that Dave smith financed me through them. I refinanced it through numerica. The same man tried to sell me a warrant for 6000 dollars on a car worth 18000...again I told him that I already had my extra warranty picked out through numerica. He became very hostile At that point. I never recommend anyone go to them. I traveled 4 hours to pick this vehicle up from them. read more

Dave Smith motors is the biggest scam around for car dealers. They asked me for a deposit of $500. while we negotiated on the car, assuring me that it was refundable. When I gave a final offer for the car, they said they couldn't sell me the car for that price. So I asked for my deposit back. They refused to give it to me. They said I had agreed to purchase the car and then backed out. I did NOT agree to purchase the car at the price they gave me. It's amazing that this dealership is still in business. Run away from these scammers. Even if you think you can get a better deal there, the end result will probably cost you more. They teach all their people to be liars. read more

I have bought many cars, and I have never had a better experience then the new truck I just purchased from you! Everyone I worked with was wonderful, but Tammy really went above and beyond! She was always excellent to follow up with me on any questions I had and being from Utah my whole deal was done over the phone. Everything was exactly as she said it would be and when I drove up to Kellogg the truck I bought was even better then I had expected it to be! It was a great experience and I will be buying future vehicles from your dealership as well as recommending my friends and family to you as well. read more

I had a great experience buying a used truck from Jimmy. I was looking for a specific truck with low miles. The prices in the Seattle area were high and so I started searching elsewhere. I had previously negotiated a deal with another dealer, including buying airplane tickets and more. That deal fell through when the dealer tried to be sneaky and add extra costs on the back of the deal. I was at a low in my shopping experience when I found the truck I wanted advertised by Dave Smith Motors. I called up on the phone and spoke with Jimmy, who was patient, professional and polite. He answered all of my questions, took additional pictures and generally was awesome to deal with. Over a couple of days we got everything worked out and Jimmy made sure I knew where everything stood through out the whole process. He didn't play games and was straight up on making the deal right and smooth from the beginning. Also, it's nice that he lives in the 21st century and was willing to text stuff back and forth. It's sad how many dealers are just snakes who want to get you in the door so they can pressure sell you on additional crap. This is definitely not Jimmy or anyone at Dave Smith. The following Saturday I hopped a plane and showed up in Spokane. A shuttle driver from the dealer picked me (and a couple of others) up and drove us to the dealership. When I arrived, Jimmy walked me to the truck and we confirmed everything was as we had discussed. They then gave me some free lunch and wrapped up preparing the paperwork. The whole finance process took only about 15 minutes and was also hassle free and no pressure. Genuinely pleasant, no BS! And they beat the other dealer and my CU on the interest rate. Buying a car should always be this easy! read more

WELCOME TO THE 6 HOUR BUYING HORROR SHOW. You better roll up your sleeves and prepare for a long wait/finance time! The only reason DSM get 2 stars is because our salesman was great and saved them a 1 star review. FINANCE DEPT GETS NEGATIVE STARS, they do not have it together. We were there on a week day purchasing a vehicle, so not at all too busy. We had a vehicle picked out ahead of time, had our financing in days before arrival. Didn't stop us from waiting and waiting and waiting for finance. There were at least 4 other couples around us complaining that they had been there for 5 hours or more waiting for financing. When I first arrived I encountered an upset gentleman sitting on the couch that expressed the same thing, I didn't think much of it other than he was just having a bad day, but little did I know what lay ahead of us. Listen we know that buying a car is not a fun experience, but THIS WAS BAD, TERRIBLE actually. We've purchased 3 vehicles from DSM and I think this was our last. I'm just happy we didn't have our kids, wow, I think we would have walked away completely. The funny thing is they are trying to BRIBE you to get positive reviews on yelp. FUNNY THING, our good friend just bought a vehicle there and said it was his last after several trucks as he had the exact same experience with finance. They have good prices but their financing department is the worst, good luck if you decide to brave it. read more

I HATE BUYING CARS. But I am now a fan of Dave Smith. I have been thinking about buying a Jeep for over a year. Finally on a Saturday I went to the Lithia dealer in Reno and got jerked around with the hard sell. I walked out since I didn't want the car badly enough to deal with a bunch of salesman BS. On Monday I took some advice from a coworker and called Dave Smith Motors. Jessica gave me a better price for a Jeep with several thousand dollars more in options than the dealer in Reno wanted to give me. A few weeks later I flew up to Spokane and took the shuttle to the dealer. I am very pleased with my new car and the experience from Dave Smith Motors (and Jessica!). read more

Dave Smith Motors has a tag line, "hassle free buying*" and always with an asterisk. I assume that is because it is a hassle. The too low to quote prices to gather your info. Online chat that cannot give their 'lowest price anywhere' deal. Then why have chat? Cannot give out a price via email. Then why have email? I was told, "I'll give you a price that can't be touched by anyone!" Yet, I bought the same vehicle for $2000 less elsewhere and Dave Smith could not match that price. read more

I know a few people that have purchased vehicles from Dave Smith Motors and I see their trademark neon pink plate tags frequently around the Seattle area, but I was still a little nervous buying from a dealership 275 miles away, especially since I was trading a vehicle in. I decided to check their website and of course they had the exact vehicle I wanted in stock and ready to go. I called and ended up working with Kathleen H who was fantastic! She was very responsive to emails and voicemails and worked with me through the entire process. I put a deposit down to make sure my Durango didn't sell to someone else, sent her details and photos of the vehicle I was trading in and started the paperwork for finance. When I got the trade-in quote I was really surprised. It was what I wanted without having to fight for it. That never happens! There were some accessories I wanted to add to the vehicle, so I talked to Luke and after going through some options, he got orders and installs going. When we set off to Idaho I was still a little nervous about how it all might go once we actually got there. Would they try to change the vehicle pricing on me? Would they lower what they had offered on my trade-in? Almost immediately that went away. Kathleen was waiting for us so as soon as we arrived, we took the Durango for a drive while someone drove my trade-in. The trade-in offer was approved and that was it. It took a little time to get through finance but that's to be expected at any dealership. While the paperwork was coming together we were taken over to accessories to meet Luke who made sure I was happy with what had been done and that I didn't have any questions. We then went over to the service department and they gave us an overview of the vehicle's maintenance needs and what we could expect. Shortly after that we were in finance and finalizing the deal. After a couple of hours at the dealership we were heading down the road with a full tank of gas. The customer service however didn't end there. We'd decided to stay in Spokane, Washington for the night, an hour back west from the dealership. Shortly after checking in we realized that we'd actually left 2 bags in the vehicle that were very important. I called the dealership in a bit of a panic. We had to get the bags back that night (medical needs) and I wasn't at all looking forward to an hour drive back to the dealership and an hour again back to the hotel since it had already been a pretty long day. Not only did Darrell go find our bags, he told me he lived about halfway between the dealership and where we were staying and he was willing to bring the bags with him and meet us. We actually worked out a deal and he delivered the bags to our hotel which gave us a chance to relax and enjoy a nice dinner. Amazing price, no hassle trade-in, excellent customer service. Thank you DSM! read more

It would seem that my experience with this quasi-criminal organisation is consistent with anyone else on here who has also had a one-star experience. I would also like to point out that I have worked in and out of the automotive industry most of my adult life, and am former dept manager (not sales) of a dealership myself. NEVER, in my life, have I seen such conduct out of a sales dept. And that really, really says something. They have gone through a lot of trouble to earn every word of this honest, and thorough review. I first came in to contact with Dave Smith motors on 05/21/18 after an adolescent salesman named Kobe cold-called me in Seattle trying to sell me a car. This was one of several such calls I received after a different dealership i had made a cursory inquiry with illegally sold my information to about a half dozen random others. I told him what the deal was with that, but I said I would hear him out on some other cars. As my now-deceased father bought no fewer than THREE trucks from this dealer in his life with satisfaction. So, I told Kobe what I wanted, what I had to trade in (all in great detail). He chose a car from inventory (a 2018 Jeep Compass) that fit the bill, but was in the upper echelon of my price range with all assurances it would be fine for financing. All of this was over the phone, where I had to hand-hold him through every bit of the process (I was very assured from the outset that I was either his first customer ever, or his last) as he seemed to have no clue what details were needed as part of this kind of doing business. I had to give him my car's VIN SEVEN times (and he still requested it to be sent by print later that day, not yet having it). When he said he was going to take the info off to finance, I had to text him and give him the rest of the information he would need to doon, as they were ''just about to begin'' on my paperwork process....the day before I was to go get the car. I immediately text Kobe, and tell him of this, and remind him that after the 30th, I lose the incentives. And in a week's time period, I will make a new payment on my existing car, and walk. He says he will get an update from them in the morning. Morning comes, and he says they will have all ready to go by the 2nd. Assuring me not one single parameter of the deal would change regardless (dis-believable as that was). So, I move heaven and earth again at work to make a trip on the 2nd doable. And remind him, that any more surprises will make his managers my new hobby once more. And also mention that the story has changed on a daily basis, and I am not happy one bit about that. He promises an update the next day. Next day comes and goes, no Kobe. I text him the following morning thanking him for the lack of an update. He then claimed that no such promise of an update was made. Which I pointed to in the text right above where he said just that the last time we had talked. I said I WILL be getting updated that day and the next, and that I no longer believe the 2nd to have any importance for them. Another day goes by, no update. I demand that a manager calls me. And he ceases communication mid-conversation. This is the 1st of June mind you. The day BEFORE I was to go get the car. I have to leave a message with his direct manager (Cameron) to call me ASAP. Hours later I get a call from him, and he says he has my file, financing is approved and all ready to go. I ask him to read its contents to me: Not one single detail of financing is what I asked for. And he replies with ''Oh? What did you ask for?'' That earned the only coarse exclamation of the day from me, for which I immediately apologized, as he was new to this matter, and it was not he who had jerked me around for two weeks to date. I told him that was of course unacceptable though, particularly after all of this work and time; ON the day I was to pick up the car to boot. He offered to refund my holding fee, which I assured I would be accepting. And then went on to mention that I will re-visit this car buying matter in some months, with a larger down payment around Labour day sale time. And that after this treatment of someone who came to his dealership because his father had bought SEVERAL cars there in the past, I would not be doing that business anywhere near it. He then got very cross, and hung up on me. I have had no indication nor confirmation of any sort of refund. Much less an apology. I will get whatever authorities I need involved to get my money back. And those that know me know one doesn't want to be in between me and anything I actually feel like doing...such as, when I actually felt like buying a car from the ''number one dealer''. Whom ever from Dave Smith reads this review, you are going to call me first thing in the morning, or you are going to regret it. I do NOT say things I do not mean. I need not waste any more words describing how and how often I was attemptedly screwed over in the course of this all. read more

Warning to anyone wanting to buy at Dave Smith Automotive. This place was a nightmare! We had a truck picked out that we were planning on buying. My husband worked with Owen a sales rep during the initial process over the phone. We are out of state buyers... Ten hours away. Anyhow, the sales rep found the truck we were specifically after and then informed us that they needed a 500.00 deposit. We didn't like that one bit and basically told them that if they wanted to make the sale we were not paying the deposit. Owen's words were "I'll check on this and see how bad the boss wants to make the deal" We did hear back and Owen informed us that the deposit was not needed. His words were " done deal". We also kept all of this correspondence via text just in case. Second complaint... We lined everything out with the deal and we're going to leave the following week. Owen told us that the truck would be there and ready. We called the day before we had made arrangements to leave and Own had no idea where the truck was. Couldn't find it... We stayed in limbo not knowing if we were going to leave (10 hour drive) or not. I wondered if this sales rep would have even called us to let us know the truck was not there yet... So glad we checked. Third complaint.... A couple weeks pass and still no truck. Communication was just plain awful and completely unprofessional. Finally heard back from Owen and got a confirmation on truck arriving. We asked for some pics and that seemed to be complicated as well. We did end up getting a pic after many go- arounds. Fourth issue... We drive all the way to Kelli gg, arriving around 10:00 am. The dealership knew we were coming that day to pick up. When we got there, it seemed very unprofessional, no real greeting or communication. Owen looked frazzled/ confused. We asked to see the truck and he couldn't seem to find it. We waited in the lobby with our three children,(two, six and thirteen) and proceeded to wait, and wait...We weren't expecting to be in and out but what we went through was rediculous. Owen kept saying "I'll be right back" and "shouldn't be too much longer". At 1:00 we still hadn't seen the truck and didn't know what was going on. We demanded to tak with owen's supervisor, "Zig". He looked just as frazzled and acted like he was too busy to talk with us. We quickly looked over some paperwork and discussed our trade/in. He assured us that we would be on the road in no time. All the while we are still waiting to see/ drive this truck. He basically sent us back to the Lobby. 4:00 rolls around, we're still in the lobby with our three kids and got no info. We asked to speak with Owen and Zig again... Still no truck or explanation for what's taking so long. 5:00 comes and we finally get to peek at the truck for a total of two mins. Next complaint..... 5:30 we start the paperwork process. We get almost complete and the finance manager says we need that down payment of 500 to finish off the deal. I inform him that we were told we did not need to hand over any cash... Even had the text as proof. We have a check ready to hand over for our agreed on cost. At this point the finance guy has to call Owen and Zig back in to discuss the 500. Zig's boss Pual now gets involved. Zig and Paul acted like we were more of a pain than a customer ready to hand over some big money. We all had a very heated discussion.... And at that point they gave us some options. Cancel deal, they offered to cover half of the 500 or take a major hit on our trade. None of this sounded good. This was not what was agreed on or what we were told by Owen. We continued to talk/which continued into a yelling match between us Paul and zig. Completely unbelievable... Much dishonesty and unprofessionalism. Needless to say Paul was so completely arrogant he called the deal off. So nine hours later we walked out. Do not buy here! Save yourself a headache.... The three men/boys we dealt with were [non-permissible content removed] and just didn't like us challenging them. It became more of an ego thing than making the sale... Disgusting behavior displayed and pure dishonesty, disorganization and lack of communication! read more

We finally gave Dave Smith a try after all of the negatives we had heard about their company. Dave Smith tried working with us as out of state buyers, until we received the car from the shipping company. Conditions of the sale from Dave Smith were as follows: Vehicle was freshly detailed, vehicle was fully serviced, they would replace summer tires with 10 ply tires and put summer tires in the back of the car for shipment, they would install a three-way battery, block, and oil pan heater, they would pay to ship car to Washington, and they would prepare the vehicle, (fuel level and other requirements), for shipment to Alaska. As we have purchased many vehicles, we said we would not purchase the vehicle if these conditions were not met. Before the sale, the salesman said they would ship and prepare for shipment, detail, service, do service work, but not replace the tires, so we said no sale. The next day, the salesman called back and said they would replace the tires and put the summer tires in the back of the vehicle. So, all of the conditions were met, we agreed to the sale. When we received the car after 3 months, the truck delivery service instantly showed us the report of the damages on the vehicle prior to shipment. Our salesman told us the car was "freshly detailed" and mentioned nothing of the chips, cracks, and dents in the vehicle. However, I did not expect the car to be perfect. But, this could have been mentioned prior to the sale. The salesman also promised us the good, used tires as a condition of the sale of the vehicle, and said they were in the back of the vehicle. There were no tires in the back of the vehicle. We emailed our wonderful salesperson. During email correspondence, he said "Accessories lost your tires, not me", and "you can call Triangle transport for any damages they did". Most importantly, there was very little oil in the car upon arrival. A condition of the sale was the vehicle was freshly serviced. In an email, we were told by the salesman, "As far as I know the oil and filters are changed on all our used rig so yours should have been changed as well". This should be on a sticker or documented. But, he was unable to tell us for sure. Thankfully, I checked and added oil before driving anywhere. During more email correspondences, our salesman replied, (all spelling errors have been left as he wrote them), "I thought the Tahoe was one of the cleanest pre owned Tahoe's I have ever seen. It was a good deal and we gave you a substantial discount and payed for shipping so if you want to send us a check back for all the discounts, shipping and the crevice bill to drop the fuel tank and siphon the gas then I think we are even. Generally people are tickled pink with the vehicles and experience when here. It sounds like you folks are new car buyers that just dint want to spend the $." If the car had arrived as promised, we were on our way to purchase another new company and/or personal vehicle from their dealership. This salesman clearly does not understand how many sales he has just lost for Dave Smith. Not only from our family and business, but everyone we speak to. This salesman was completely rude, did not follow through on his conditions of the sale, and needs some further training in customer service. Even if a customer is wrong, his rudeness and arrogance is completely uncalled for. We would highly advise going elsewhere to purchase new or used vehicles. read more

My steel guy & his wife gave me some great feedback on their experience last Saturday out at Dave Smith..(& they don't do yelp......so..here's what they said): "We were very apprehensive to go to another state to purchase a truck, especially with Dave Smith Autos with the mixed/low reviews we saw..aside from the bit than normal wait time to sign our finance papers...(it was a Saturday..so busy). we are very happy. From the shuttle pick up at the airport, to driving away in our new truck..we were beyond amazed & pleased. We were called & texted at all times before & after the purchase making sure we were happy & ok..at all times. Shuttle Driver-Kind & courteous & knowledgeable. Boston-our sales guy-Kind, attentive & honest & straightforward, caring & beyond helpful. Axel-our stand in sales guy-an exceptionally wonderful guy-positive, caring, helpful, goes above & beyond, even put a big red bow on the truck for us. Jon-in finance-kind & thoughtful. Austin in financing-Amazing--we really cannot say enough about him..he is a true GEM. Some of the low reviews are definitely from lack of knowledge & not doing your homework or a just from a general lack of common sense. Every buyer can look at the car-fax. & Every buyer should take the vin # of the truck/car they are looking at & have their insurance company do a pre-quote on it-if you have a good insurance co. they can tell you right away the vehicle history, claim record etc. on any vin#. Every buyer can put the vin # into nada.com for the value. Every buyer should check out all aspects of what they are thinking of buying, including the finance side so you have no surprises. Every buyer reads the $500 deposit statement before they sign it & the terms on it. Every buyer can confirm & get a response via email & text with Dave Smith auto that all is 100% good to go before they make the trip out. Every buyer can get the personal cell phone of the salesman they are dealing with. Every buyer can confirm 100% with their sales guy if the truck/car is available & will be 100% ready. Every buyer can negotiate & even on the "bits" if something is wrong once your there. Every buyer can ask for a more experienced sales or finance person if the one you have isn't up to par. Look around at your local dealer- Especially in Utah at the price per odometer reading & year. Not one single Utah dealer could touch what Dave Smith offered. Not one-we researched for 4 months. Look around at your local dealer-hear the crickets in the lot? No-one is there-places are empty...Dave Smith's was packed & we had a California firefighter & a couple from Hawaii in our shuttle with us. We are VERY picky & detailed oriented, difficult customers, no matter what we are buying. They came through for us hands down. We are actually still in awe how well it went & how well it all worked out. Axel even texted us on Sunday to make sure we got home ok & all was still good....tell me where you are ever going to get that kind of customer care anywhere? Very rare!.. Thanks again to all out there. " read more

Honestly. This was my favorite place to do business. Until recently. They bent over backwards to help me. I had some tricky situations and they were able to help out.. with what seemed seemlessly. Today I received a call from Wells Fargo. A company that I held a loan through for a vehicle that I traded in with Dave Smith Motors 3/2016. It is now 12 months later and I have been informed that my vehicle I traded in was NOT paid off properly during the trade to the tune of over $9,000 and got sent into a Charge-Off instead of Paid off status of some kind (yes the vehicle was behind payments, but I had a settlement 10-day pay off) . I also received a 1099 in the mail for the same amount from Wells Fargo. I would like to believe that the error falls under Wells Fargo end because they are a shady company to begin with and I fully trusted Dave Smith for business. However, after a very lengthy phone call with Wells Fargo. I do not believe it was on their end. At this point I am at a total loss. I get that people make mistakes, I make them everyone does. But a mistake in this amount.. whether it was paid or reported properly/incorrect etc is detrimental to me or anyone for that matter. Not only does my credit suffer, but not everyone has 9k laying around to fix these kind of errors....I have also called and left a message at the dealership in hopes that we can all resolve this issue in a timely fashion. This is only the tip of the iceberg... again I did business in August 2016. I bought a 2012 Terrain with less the 90k miles on it, oil changed regularly.. that needed not only ONE but TWO new engines by 12/2016. Thank their lucky stars warranty covered that. Unacceptable. It's now Feb 2017 and I was just able to pull the car out of the shop I took it to on 2/15/2017. I also had post dated some checks to come out 2 weeks later for the down payment... the money was not taken out of my account until Oct... 3 Months Later 3 Days in a row.. Granite I had the $3313 dollars in my account to cover these. You would think that the payments would have came through before my FIRST payment I had in Sept 2016 for this vehicle. I will be seeking legal advice on all the above counts if I feel it is necessary. read more

Let me start by saying I'm completely shocked and amazed by this dealership. We are from Spokane WA and went online to truck shop. Found Dave Smith and submitted a form on what we are looking for. The next day got a call from a man named Phillip. Was super polite and helpful. Helped me over the phone find vehicles and look at them online. We found one we liked, but we were hesitant to buy a vehicle online and so far away. Phillip eased our minds explaining we can have it looked at by a mechanic of our choosing. Fast forward, we make the 2 hour trip to Dave Smith, see the car, buy the car without having it looked at. My fault completely, not Dave Smiths. It was a used truck and with buying used vehicles have issues. We get it home have a mechanic run thru it and they find almost $1700 in things wrong. I wasn't to happy. I emailed the manager of the section of the store we bought the car from and explained my dissatisfaction with this truck and the issues. Now I no its buyer beware and sold as is but I was mad. Within minutes Brian H called me and told me that he apologies for this and by no means is this the practice of there company to let a car leave there lot with issues. He told me to find a mechanic, have all the issues fixed and bill them. No cost to me what so ever. So within 2 days of buying the vehicle getting it home finding the problems, they were all fixed and cover by Dave Smith. It didn't take weeks, there was no phone tag, no games, no hassel, no questions asked. This has got to be the best car buying and sales experience I have had with any car lot. Normally it's sorry as is. Can't help you. Blah blah. Not with Dave Smith in Kellogg. I recommend anyone to give them a shot. Talk with Phillip Howard and Brian Hall for a good experience. This is a true and accurate experience. No gimmicks. Thanks guys. David and Samantha from Spokane Wa..... read more

The best dealership experience ever. I searched online and got contacted by Trevor Thomas. From the beginning there was knowledge, understanding of my needs and never any try to steer me into buying something else. He was ultra patient when I explained to him that I had many things going on for me at this same moment in my life and was very upset with some of the dealership I had already dealt with. After one month searching for the right price for my truck, the decision was made to drive all the way to ID. When you get there, they acknowledge you and don't make you wait around. Trevor was even more outstanding in person. We went straight to business. They even got me a better rate then what my credit union of 12 years offered. There are some sales pitches, but no one pushes it too hard and if you decline them, politely, then that's it. They were speedy and friendly all the way. Everyone working there seemed very knowledgeable and satisfied in being there. When we got to talk to the finance person, another surprise. Austin Garrett is the easiest finance person I ever had to talk to. Knows what he is doing, understands and explains everything you ask, and I asked a lot. Dave Smith was the best all around. Shame on the rip offs that we have here in Portland, Washington and anywhere close. They pull your teeth out to give you a truck. They are the ones that give car dealers the bad reputation they have. Dave Smith is on the other end of the spectrum. They earn your business and your respect. You feel confident that you can refer them to friends and family. This was my third new vehicle purchase and the most pleasant one. I will drive any friend of mine, who's looking to buy a truck, all the way to little Kellogg, ID. They will be thankful I did so. read more

Our family has bought 4 vehicles from Dave Smith Motors. We loved each deal, and the people that served us. My wife hates buying cars, but she loves going to this dealership. We travel 725 miles from So. Or. for outstanding deals in the past. I am now looking to buy my dream car--a new Challenger SRT8 Core. OK guys sharpen your pencils,so I can bragg on the deal I got on this one too. If you make this happen this will be the 5th vehicle we've purchased from Dave Smith Motors. By the way I've refered people from my business to yours to buy new cars. They too have traveled 725 miles for a great deal. Lithia down here in my area cannot touch you guys. It's the most fun We've ever had buying a new car. My wife looks forward to the trip. I look forward to the car. I need a real good deal on this (retirement) car that I want to buy in this terrible economy. I hope this goes back the other way through the chain of command,so the powers that be up there see this. Will be calling you again very soon. I've been waitting for this Challenger since they came out. Hope we can strike a very good deal. We could go right here close to us,and buy,but too many games have been played in the past. If I never end up with my car,I wouldn't buy it here. For all of us on this end of the country that buy from you--we get a good deal, and you sell a vehicle. We drive off,and you never see that vehicle again, unless we bring it back to trade on another. It's a win, win. Thanks, John N read more

I decided to get a new Ram 2500 diesel Crew, do to the fact that my Chevy Silverado 2500HD could not handle my new camp trailer so went to a few dealerships here in Bend/Portland area, and was not really happy on how I was treaded and prices, so I called up Dave Smith and got Devin Van Allen. He was great from the get go I was just calling to see about prices and options and Devin was not pushy at all and went over everything with me (I ask a lot of questions and I have to know everything before I make up my mind) I told him I needed to think about things and he still was not pushy at all I did follow up with Devin the next day with a list of options I wanted and Devin was able to get me the truck I was looking for and with every option I wanted and even was able to get it a color I wanted. I was able to work with Devin all week and he took care of the whole deal over the phone NO BS NO TRICKS!! They told me right up front what I was going to get for my two trades... I will never go anywhere else to get my next truck and was the BEST truck buying experience EVER!!!!!!! They even bought us dinner, no dealership has ever just offered to do this I have always had to ask. It was well worth the 1k mile round trip to get my truck. NO dealership here in Bend could even come close to what Dave Smith and Devin did for me. Devin you ROCKED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dave Smith you have a customer for life now.... read more

I had an issue with a new car I purchased from DSM. It involved the wrong paint color being ordered (just for the record there are 2 blacks for GM vehicles....Onyx and Carbon). Anyway the salesperson ordered a carbon black and I had wanted a onyx black. The salesperson originally thought there was only one black option. I picked up my vehicle on a Saturday and the following Tuesday I found out that there was a onyx black available for 2011 GM vehicles. I was bummed out, because the carbon black was not as nice as the onyx. I asked for DSM to consider letting me return this vehicle for the proper color, because I had documented in emails my original request for an onyx black vehicle. I had already put about 600 miles on the new vehicle. I received a call from the GM as well as Ken Smith (DSM owner). They apologized for the issue and said they would order me the proper color vehicle from the factory to exchange for the vehicle I currently had. The part that really blew me away was that Ken told me to just keep the new car I was driving until my new car arrived from the factory, so I would not be inconvenienced at all. Their apology and generosity have made me a life long DSM customers. I have always known you could not beat their pricing, but now I know you cant beat their customer service either. They have created a raving fan! Michael H. read more

As an equine rescue based in southern Utah, our ongoing duties prohibited us from making the journey to north Idaho to inspect the 2009 Ram Cummins we wished to purchase from Dave Smith Motors. As a condition of purchase, we were assured through phone and internet conversations that an intricate inspection would be conducted by their "crack" inspection team, and corrections would be made to anything found prior to shipment/delivery of the vehicle. Sadly, we proceeded with the purchase, and within 24 hrs of receipt of the vehicle we discovered multiple mechanical discrepancies. It was clear that either no inspection took place, or the dealership felt no compulsion to correct any of the easily discoverable issues, which included significant oil leaks among the myriad of irregularities. As a result, we were forced to have the vehicle inspected by our mechanic, forced to correct the multiple discrepancies ourselves, and forced to pay 50% of the approximately $5,000 in repairs for our troubles. The actions, or more correctly inactions, of Dave Smith Motors suggests to me that their loyalty is to $$$, buyer be damned. Fact is, the truck is at the shop as of this writing for a whole new set of electrical issues. Purchase at your own risk!!! read more

My husband and I have purchased both our vehicles from DSM. I had my 18 month old son in the vehicle with me and I was pregnant with my daughter when my headgasket blew in my Chrysler 300. I had my vehicle towed to service where they established a blown headgasket and many other significant issues that were found. Long story short, I decided to take the loss and look for something immediately. Bob Cameron and Stephanie Latina were ON IT. They sent me different options for an SUV and within 3 days I was signed and down the road in my brand new car. I was AMAZED at how quick and efficient everything went. Signing for it was short as well. I still adore my car. I have it serviced at DSM everytime I need it done, and they even send me detailed quotes on tires with specifics when I'm due for them. My husband bought his 2017 Ram in December of 2016 and it is everything he ever wanted. Long story short, we wont stop buying from DSM. Their sales teams are amazing and they really will go over every option you can think of before you sign on something. Everytime you walk in the door at the dealership, there is a friendly face greeting you. Our experiences were a great and I highly recommend it. read more

If you're looking for a new Ram, Roman is your guy. He was the first salesman we have ever had who had a personality while doing business. He told jokes while on the test drive. Roman made it very clear that he wanted to respect our time while we were at the dealership. He offered coffee from their espresso machine in the lobby. When he had to get paperwork signed, this man RAN AROUND! He made it happen! If he is eligible for a raise or a bonus he truly deserves it. His attention to detail was great. The online pricing he was very up front about any additional amount for registration. This man can even pair a flip phone to a vehicle via Bluetooth! The finance guy really knew his stuff. He sat there an answered all questions. The general manager and Romans boss stopped by and chatted for a while about places to eat near Kellog. They were both above and beyond kind. We are highly impressed and would like to come back the next time we need to upgrade! PLEASE ASK FOR ROMAN ON YOUR NEXT VISIT! He will even miss his baseball game to stay late and make things right when buying a Ram. Roman deserves more than a 5 star yelp review. He makes everyone feel like family. read more

Shout out to a top notch salesman, Anton Ferraro! I was in the market to purchase my first brand new vehicle and had no clue what I actually wanted. Anton spent time asking questions to identify what I was looking for and needing in a vehicle and he patiently worked with me as I test drove many different vehicles. I found one I loved but never thought I would ever be able to afford, a Cadillac SRX! Anton worked with me until we could make this a reality! The time and effort that Anton demonstrated was like none other I had experienced with dealerships in the past, I was treated like a person, not just a sale! After completing paper work with finance Anton was waiting for me with my new vehicle and set up my Bluetooth and accessories... which probably would have taken me hours to figure out. Since, my husband and I have purchased additional vehicles from Anton and have had more great experiences. We told Anton my husband needed a commuter car for work and let him know what we were looking for. Anton searched to find our car and called to have us come check it out and it was exactly what we were looking for! Thanks Anton for your stellar customer service!! read more

I'm a California resident, and I recently bought a 2021 RAM 1500, from Trace at Dave Smith Motors. Being from California I tried working with several DODGE dealerships from ALL OVER the state, and none of them were able to do what Trace and Dave Smtih Motots could do for me. Purchasing a vehicle from a salesman 1000 miles away whom you've never met, or not being able to test drive the truck you're purchasing can be somewhat of challenge. But I have to say that Trace made this experience one of the best experiences I have ever had purchasing a vehicle.. He did everything he said he was going to do, and the truck was everything Trace said it was. I am beyond happy with not only my beautiful truck, but more so the honesty, professionalism, and relationship building from Trace and the entire team I got to work with. Beginning with Dana in the website chat. to Trace, to Al with accessories, and ending with Joe in finance! It made the 30 hours drive in 47 hours every bit worth it!! Thank you again to Trace Fedele, and the entire Dave Smith Motors team, I look forward to seeing you all again when I'm ready to upgrade!' read more

I purchased a new truck from Dave Smith Motors in 1997. This was when the Cummins engines were new and they only made 100,000 per year, so no dealerships could get them on the lot. I went through a broker who pulled over to wash the truck before delivering to me in Seattle. At that time Dodge was experimenting with 7-mil thick paint which is paper thin, and the broker may have scratched the paint when he washed it. Dave Smith Motors took care of me. I drove the truck back and they painted it again at no cost to me. I liked the experience so much I added a chrome package and step-sides. Put 100k miles on that truck and sold it for more than I paid for it. I'm now in the market for another truck, but frankly I'm getting sticker shock from the prices. $65,000 for a new Dodge truck??? WOW. WHAT WENT WRONG? My guess - after Dave Smith Motors was boycotted by other Dodge dealers in 1998, they jacked prices back up as part of the settlement, even though they won in court. Not sure I can recommend them based on the info I have at hand, but in 1997, they treated me like a King and that is worth 5-star props. read more

just bought a 2500 ram truck from Dave Smith in Kellogg.......the absolute , hands down best car buying experience I've ever had. Lithia in spokane will never see me again....ever..... Reuben at dave smiths is outstanding, from him to the sales manager, to the finacing dept. they all were first rate........my wife and I were never pressured, and what ever it took to make us happy thats what they did. I can't recomend these people enough, doing business the way business should be done, charging an honest price,(less than anyone I've found) making an honest markup.......it's not a mistake to deal with them....and the free expresso was a plus :) the day we were to pick up our truck we drove 3 hours to get there, there was a glich in the service dept and it wouldn't be ready for 3-4 hours.....they told us to go home , they would deliver our truck when it was done. it's 6 hours round trip from where they are to where we live. . they filled up our tank and sent us on our way. and later in the day delivered our new ride.... I ask you seriously, what other car dealer on the planet would do this ? read more

My husband and I absolutely made the right choice to drive from Everett, WA. to Kellogg,ID. We had shopped locally and were disappointed in the used trucks and the asking price for them. Danielle Brimhall was fabulous as we emailed and texted over several days regarding what my husband and I wanted - a gently used Dodge Ram diesel truck for hauling a travel trailer or 5th wheel to be purchased in our near future. Danielle found a gorgeous white, fully loaded with a bed liner, canopy, and many other extras before it was even put on-line. We hesitated about going over to see it as we had just ran across some pretty good sounding deals locally; but we went. The entire day was without pressure, a lot of time was spent on test driving several times and education on how everything worked on the truck. Negotiation on price was very upfront, no hassles. When we discovered on the way home that one of the headlights was out, they refunded the price we paid for it. We would buy from them again. We highly recommend them! read more

I recently bought a new pickup truck from Dave Smith Motors in Kellogg Idaho. I pretty much closed the deal on the Phone with Jayleen Hall and Mark in accessories before traveling from Great Falls Montana to their dealership in Kellogg. I could not be more happy with the entire experience. Jayleen worked hard to get me the truck I wanted at the right price and Mark gave me the best advice for accessories and he had everything on the truck by the time I got there. All of this was done with big smiles and a professional manner. I was shown the ABC'S of my new trucks operational and safety features. My wife and I were impressed, it was a magical setting, buy the time the sun had gone down and we were on the road to pick up our new slide in truck camper just West of Kellogg. I give the folks at Dave Smith Motors five stars, I've dealt with many dealers in the past and I have to say, "thanks to the people at Dave Smith" you folks impressed me and that's not so easy to do. I visited a few dealerships and knew I wanted a new truck, but could not find what I considered a reasonable deal. I visited Dave Smith and met salesperson Christina Goulart. She was knowledgeable and patient. She did not pressure me into any vehicle. What I appreciated was she showed me several options, I know, that is her job, but she really took in account of what I said and what I wanted. When I finally made the decision of the vehicle I wanted, it was a bit more than I wanted to spend. She found me the same color and features on a vehicle that was one year older and it would literally save me $10,000. Even if I would have simply walked away I know she would have maintained her professionalism and kindness. She was very patient and attentive to my needs and I really appreciate it. I would highly recommend Dave Smith and certainly Christina to anyone considering purchasing a vehicle. I mean she even comes in on her day off to help you if needed, that is some dedication. read more
