Reached out to purchase a new truck. The original sales rep who helped me over the phone, as I am out of state, was nice but unable to really answer any of my questions. I still wanted to move forward as I wanted the truck, and put down a deposit to have her transfer a vehicle from another location to their location as the exact truck I wanted was not at Dave Smith but she found it at another dealership that they do trades with. Find out the next day she was fired and had only been there a few days. Next rep was also nice but couldn't answer any of my questions and did not return my calls or emails in a timely manner. At that point I told him I wanted to cancel and asked if I could get my deposit back. Come to find out a week later he was fired or quit (unclear). I was then called by a manager to try and "save" the deal. He told me both were new and from the same training class. I told him I was no longer interested because of the communication issues I had been having and part of me feels I was lied to about the deposit. I was promised a follow up a few days later about the deposit and now a week plus later I still have not heard back. I'm guessing they will keep my deposit which seems unfair. They really need to improve their communication. And to say I was not ready to buy or wasting their time would be silly as I gave them a deposit! read more

Well just picked up my 2015 Dodge Ram 2500. I am from Reno,NV and this dealership won my business. They are number one in auto sales for a reason. They sell so many trucks they can afford to sell for not much over msrp. The process was smooth and seamless. I arrived via shuttle. The shuttle was ridiculously on time, pleasant, and good drive. Can was clean and in good condition. Got to the dealer, holy smokes its a large operation!! The whole town depends on it. 44 acres of cars and trucks. Salesperson was Earl, he was a nice guy and understood what I wanted and didn't want. Didn't try to haggle me with parts and other warranty stuff. Gave me a tour of the facility. It's just impressive again. The fiancé guy tried to sell me a warranty, one I couldn't afford it and two im still skeptical on it. On my from Washington I had a great vacation until the trip back. I had flat tire no spare and no one to call, but Dave Smith motors was there for me when I needed help. I gave them a call as they were closing and they came out of their way to come and assist me. Two young gentlemen came and quickly assessed the issue and took off the tire, took it to the shop and did what they had to do. They returned to inform me that the tire was un-repairable due to legal issues. They luckily had another tire in their shop and brought it over to put on the truck. (2015 dodge grand caravan) They have purchased over 10 new cars here throughout the years. everything was done via email and telephone, the date was set, and my wife and I drove our trade in out there. I was skeptical driving all that way and was worried that there would be some sort of snag or there would be some sort of fast one pulled. Falls in rank among some of the worst parts departments that I have ever had the misfortune in dealing with. I ordered a simple part. Worth a little over a hundred dollars. Weighs less than 10 pounds. Could have easily had it to me within a week. However this did not happen. I ordered my part on the 2nd. The week after, I had to call them to see if the shipment had been sent or not. Their parts guy said that they had to order it from somewhere else, and it will be delayed. I said that is fine, so long as I get the part. He assured me that they will have it to me by the 14th. The 14th came and went... no part... no contact from their department. I call them, again, on the 16th. Their parts guy said that he will look into it, and see where the part is. No further contact from him, no further information on my part. He did not call me back, he did not give me any info on where my part is, I am at a complete loss as to where this shipment is. It is now going on 3 weeks since I ordered my part. Only contact that I have had from them is the calls that I made TO them. I have called them yet again, but this time they did not answer. This is in my opinion terrible service. Absolutely terrible. I will recommend that if anyone has to order anything from their parts department, get it from Amazon instead. Got the part in. 3 weeks later. Still only rating 1 star. read more

I got to the bottom line in one phone conversation with my sales guy. Here is the MSRP, the Invoice price, the GM supplier price, the GM hold back (which they gave me). They also applied $650 of GM credit card cash as well. The bottom line price was about 20% below the MSRP. It took me about 10 seconds to take the deal. I gave them a $500 credit card deposit and was on my way to Kellogg, Id to pick up my new Silverado 1500 crew cab. I am 70 yrs old and new vehicle prices seem very expensive to me but this deal was far and away less than I could get where I live. This experience started out seeming like it was going to work out to be an ok experience. The initial process was a little annoying over the phone and online. Almost every simple response took more than a day to get answered. After multiple calls back to my salesman we finally got the financing figured out and arranged for when the truck would be available to pick up. At this point it seemed like everything would move on smoothly. I scheduled a flight to Spokane and the salesman told me I would be reimbursed $250 when my sale closed. That check was never cut which I didn't catch until later that evening. I caught my early morning flight to Spokane and all went well. Upon arrival at Spokane I called the dealership and they directed me to where the shuttle would be. I found the van right away and the driver was quite pleasant to talk to on the ride. Upon arrival at the dealership I had no trouble locating my salesman who was quite friendly and cordial. The purchase price and financing had been all worked out in advance and yet the delivery process still took about 6 hours. With the volume they deal with I figured this might be expected. By late afternoon with a 7 hour drive ahead of me I finally got done with finance and saw my truck for the first time. The salesman made sure I was able to pair my phone and I started the truck to head home. This is where things start to really go downhill. I have already spent over $60,000 and never even saw my vehicle until after it was all done. All in all it's a great vehicle. What had been discussed is that it has to have the 8.4 screen with nav and it supposedly did. Later after getting to look over the window sticker I find out this truck wasn't ordered with nav and as of 2018 it can no longer be added. I spent half an hour on the phone with sirius guardian trying to figure out the problem with my nav before realizing it wasn't there. Most of the rest of the features such as apple car play don't work either and the local dodge dealer can't seem to figure that out but back to Dave Smith. When I realize this truck can't be fixed to function as needed I call my salesman back and tell him I want to trade in my 3 week old truck on one that has nav. I understand this is going to screw me out of many thousands of dollars but I need the nav and there are a couple other options I would like to have as well. He tells me he has to talk to his manager about what they can do for me and will get right back to me. After 3 days of me leaving repeated messages asking for a status update I finally blow a gasket and start pushing to get a manager on the phone. It takes some work but I finally get a manager on the line who seems like he is going to help. That was Saturday and this is Tuesday and still no word back. I understand being busy but this is just plain ignoring because for some reason they don't want to help me fix this problem. I have a vehicle from their lot with under 3000 miles on it. Not like it's a tough one to put a value on. Beware if you do business with this dealer. Make sure to do heavy research ahead of time and insist on seeing the vehicle and window sticker with the specs. If something isn't as it was supposed to be you will ignored and pushed off. This was an easy fix that is just going to cost me a bunch of money due to my mistake but I can't even get them to take my money again. Between the horrible service at Dave Smith and my local dealer it's starting to look like I will trade this new truck for a Ford. The pricing is definitely good here but the service is less than desirable before the sale and horrible after, even when you want to give them more money! Really read more

Both dropped the ball multiple times on our 2020 Ram 3500 purchase from the start..This is the 3rd RAM 3500 we've purchased from Dave Smith in the last 5 years. This was by far the worst experience hands down..We've had the truck for 3 weeks and still don't even have a window temp tag.. Zero communication from the start, constant excuses about phone service and email issues.. Vehicle showed up with finger prints and dirty rear carpet, charged an extra 150 for hand sealant.. Factory blue pen marks are still all over the body panels.. They didn't buff/seal/wax anything.. Botched addresses on paperwork, papers never sent out when they said.. If you're going to sell a truck with $87100 MSRP, you think they'd at-least follow thru with a little give a shit.. I bought my used 2015 GMC Sierra 2500 from Dave Smith CDA in May 2017. The car buying experience was not very impressive, but the worst part happened three months after I purchased the truck. The paint and chip guard starting chipping off the truck and rust started showing through spots where the dealership had clearly touched up the paint so a buyer couldn't see it. If your going to buy a used car from Dave Smith have a body shop look at the car before you buy it and don't trust the word of their used car sales team. We knew we were going to buy a 5th wheel trailer and needed a good pulling truck. I live in Montana but was in AZ when I started the search. Saw dozens of trucks and had many,many exposures to various dealerships and sales people from Montana and AZ. Was a bit overwhelmed and disappointed in those experiences. Saw some trucks I liked at DSM and started working with Lance to find the perfect used truck (lo miles, affordable price and good puller). After several try's he found a 2010 Ram Cummins 2500 with 75,000 miles and looks new. Very easy process even from AZ. We couldn't pick it up for more than 2 months and DSM was very helpful in working it out. When we picked it up I needed a little help moving my equalizer hitch from my old truck. Lance dressed in nice work clothes dropped what he was doing and helped me do the heavy wrench work and we were on our way in leases than an hour. I sincerely recommend DSM and particularly Lance as a sales person. read more

I've bought several cars at Dave Smith and the sales experience was good, but I routinely have problems with their service department and getting repairs made at the service department in CDA. My daughter bought a new GMC SUV and was told by the salesman she would get a couple of free oil changes from Dave Smith. Since she lives in CDA, she asked if it could be done at the CDA location, rather than drive 45 minutes away. She made an appointment at the CDA location, got a babysitter to watch the kids and drove to the CDA location. Once there, she was told they could not do it and she would have to drive to Kellogg (1 1/2 hours round trip) to get the free oil change. They told her she would have to take it to a GMC dealer for the service. Again, she specifically asked when she bought it if she could take it to the CDA Dave Smith location and was told yes. I called Dave Smith and inquired about this. I to was told she would have to drive to Kellogg for the service. He could not explain why the salesperson told her it could be done in CDA. Either the salesperson / service department was poorly trained or intentionally misleading to get the sale. Just about every visit I have had to the service dept. in CDA has had a problem or the issue wasn't fixed. The sales experience in Kellogg is good though. read more

What would be helpful is an actual contact name and actual direct phone number to someone that can resolve my problem now! The phone receptionists are not transferring me through to any manager, let alone the General Manager and as a result, I got my salesman back on the line who is now on the pre-owned side of the dealership ("and told me he doesn't have my file"). He said he would have "Scott" call me back to resolve and issue a credit, but guess what... crickets, nadda, no call from "Scott" or anyone else. Never Again!! I took my Ram truck for some service, Informed them of known issues. Supposedly corrected all issues. Charged nearly $700 for repairs. Apparently a bad water pump is to difficult for them to diagnose, so they charged me for a new radiator cap and some hose and said problem solved, nope!(repaired by another shop and issue is fixed) Within hours of picking up truck new issues that were not present prior have now arose. I called and they gladly scheduled another appointment. Now remote start is no longer working was told its a faulty hood latch and sensor, I Found out later a sensor was not plugged in correctly resulting in a failure. The service writer was more than happy to quote me for a new hood latch and sensor rather than having shop plug sensor back in. My navigation will not work and the face of the radio no longer opens for CD/DVD, was told radio has an internal failure that just so happened after they had my truck. After 3 hours of re -inspecting they told me that nothing they had done prior could have caused these issues but they were more than happy to give me a quote for these new issues to be repaired. I called the customer satisfaction # to discuss issues and guess what no answer. Left message and still no call back. It's been more than 30 days. What a bunch of crooks! Take your business elsewhere. read more

They didn't have the truck I wanted in stock but my sales guy, Mason, said if I gave him a $500 deposit that he'd be able to do a dealer search/swap. What a dummy I was. I sent him my credit card info, he cashed it, and I didn't hear from him for days. I asked him to email me the specs and he never did. After nearly a week with no specs, I called to ask for my money back. I was told he wasn't working today and was sent to someone else's voice mail. Mason finally returned my call (after I was told he wasn't at work today). He refused to return my money. He said he had a truck coming in that met my requirements (It did not and was priced more than my local dealer). I want to start by saying that the receptionists answering the phones are absolutely amazing and super professional and courteous! They deserve a 5 star rating! For the rest of the experience... negative stars. I live in Hawaii and have many friends and relatives purchase a vehicle from Dave Smith and have it shipped it Hawaii. They have commented on the great service, ease of shipping procedures, and great deals on vehicles. We purchased a 2015 Dodge Ram 1500 Big Horn. The initial sales person, Rex, would not negotiate with the price, which ended up being fine because it was still cheaper than anything we can get here. He ensured me that Dave Smith has an extensive inspection policy, body, mechanical, you name it. They make sure its in good shape. Great. I get all my financing in order, call and leave a voicemail to Rex. Heard nothing back for 2 days. Finally I call just the main dealership where the lovely girls at the front answer and tell me that Rex no longer works there. Alright then. Weird but that kind of stuff happens. I get sent to Dominic. At first, he was great. Apologized for the inconvenience of Rex being gone, and walked me through the next steps of purchasing and shipping the vehicle. All seemed great. Unfortunately, due to COVID, the vehicle that was said to get to Hawaii in 2 weeks took 4 weeks. Bummer, but we were super stoked to get it finally a month later. We drive it home from the harbor that night (about an 25 mile drive) and in the morning, we start it up and notice that the check engine light is on and it says incorrect DEF fluid-see dealership. (Its an eco-diesel) I call Dominic immediately and ask what this is about and I'm a little concerned because we had it less than 24 hours at this point. He expressed concern, told me to take it to my nearest Dodge dealership. The dodge dealership charged us a $170 diagnostic fee to tell us that its the SCR Catalytic Converter and thankfully, it is covered under the Dodge extended warranty. I called and let Dominic know and he said okay great, it can be fixed and we'll cover the diagnostic fee that they charged. I was still kind of upset though because they sold me a vehicle that had an issue with it and I was kind of curious if they knew about the problem before selling it to me? The dodge dealership on Maui calls me back regarding the repair and let me know they ordered the part BUT it will take at least 2 weeks to get the part in. We sold our other vehicle a few days before our new one arrived so we were completely out of a vehicle in the meantime. I asked if the extended warranty covers a rental but it does not. So I called Dominic at Dave Smith on a Friday and he didn't answer so I left him a message asking him if they could set us up with a rental. I thought it would be a no brainer since they have a service department and when people bring a vehicle to them to get repaired, they give them a loaner car. We don't have that luxury since we are not on the mainland, so I thought they would accommodate. Friday comes and goes and Dominic didn't return my call that day. I call back Saturday and spoke to him. He said its not within his authority to do that and he has to check with a manager. No worries, I get it. They'll call me Monday. Monday comes and goes. Tuesday, I call them. I ask the receptionist to speak with Dominic, and he wasn't available so I asked to speak to his manager because he was allegedly going to get his manager involved with the situation. The manager, Jake, knew nothing about the situation and promised to speak with Dominic and get back with me. Wednesday comes and goes, Thursday comes and goes, finally Friday, I call again. Left messages for both Dominic and his manager Jake. Monday, I finally get in touch with Dominic. He said they can't cover the rental car. I ask if I can please speak to Jake. He transfers me to his voicemail. I left him another voicemail. Two days later, on Wednesday I still haven't heard from anyone. I feel like they have just completed avoided the situation in total. Moral of the story is that Dave Smith has the WORST idea of customer service and not someone I would consider to be a reputable dealer since they were OK with selling me a bad vehicle. Even if they weren't aware that it was a bad vehicle, they have done nothing to rectify the situation at all. Will never be purchasing from them again. read more

I of course felt this was a little over the top and have contacted all the brands they represent even though Mr. Black told me those brands(Dodge, Ram, Chrysler, Jeep, Chevrolet, GMC , Cadillac , Buick) wont care. I dont understand the reluctance of Mr. Black to provide a quote in writing but that seems pretty sketchy since every other dealership I have ever contacted did this for me. I wish I could choose ZERO stars. THe over all car buying experience was a good one, however almost 3 years later I get served court papers for 240.00! They can't tell me what the charge is even for! I've called and asked for a supervisor and NO ONE will return my phone calls. My next action is getting my lawyer involved. I will be paying more in the long run for the lawyer i'm sure, but in my eye it will be worth it so they don't think they can step on the little guy! Buyer beware . Bought a preowned vehicle from them and discovered shortly after purchasing that it had two oil leaks , a bad engine cooling fan , A bad battery and various other things. Basically was told by dave smith it was my problem. If you intend to purchase from them I recommend having your own separate inspection because they do not stand by their vehicles. read more

I'm very disappointed to learn that this dealership told me I need a vehicle service contract that cost $3000 to 1) get financing and 2) to have my interest rate dropped by 1%. After speaking with the loan company last week, never did they require a vehicle service contract to approve financing, and the APR they offered was not contingent upon purchasing a vehicle service contract. I've since cancelled the vehicle service contract, but only received 75% refund on the $3000 Dave Smith sold it to me for. Not to mention the extra $3000 added to the deal caused the value of my car to be inflated when I tried to register it in WA state (increasing the tax I had to pay), plus the extra 9.3% sale tax I'll never have refunded. In all with the amount not refunded, the sale tax, and the interest I paid on the $3000 for nearly a year - I'm out nearly $1500. And to top it off, my parents never received their referral bonus. Ugh. Even the best have their drawbacks, and for me, this one IS HUGE! I'm filing a complaint with the FTC to have the full price of the service contract refunded, plus applicable taxes. What a nightmare. Though I still love my sales lady, Tammy. She was the only one who was honest with me about everything. But OMG! What a waste of money!
