Terrible customer service at both locations. I will be honest, I am beyond frustrated right now with my experience at both locations and frankly not sure I will go back. I literally would have put a deposit down and/or walked out with the truck (THF141427). On Sunday we drove a hour to your CDA location to look at trucks, your website doesn't say what is where, no big deal. We got there and a brand new sales guy, met us and looked up and said all the 2017-2019 Chevy and GMC diesel trucks were in Kellogg, he did say you shuttle them but they are closed on Sunday. So when trying to connect with Kellogg the next day to look and various trucks, the website must connect me back to CDA. That is how Mike connected with me and I politely explained I wanted to go to Kellogg, he was beyond rude to me and told me that the Kellogg location only sells new trucks. He was so rude and aggressive towards me that I literally had to hang up on me. He was extremely offended I wanted to drive to the Kellogg location. You know it's bad when the Sales Manager calls you unprompted to apologize later in the evening because he overheard the conversation. I got connected to Kellogg location and made an appointment to come look at that truck and any others, I drove two hours to get there and found out that in fact a bunch of the trucks were actually in CDA, WTF, but the one I really wanted to look at was there, so okay. When I was 5 minutes out from my appointment I got a call from a different sales person, saying that I had been passed on to him because the previous guy got busy, whatever that was fine. I got there the young kid had the keys, great. We looked at the truck, looked for others, turns out most are in CDA, again whatever, we test drove the truck, I like it and wanted to chat about what we could work out. It has a cracked window needs buffed and new tires. Sat down with the kid and I kid you not (pun not intended), had no idea what to do, tried to chat next steps, clueless, can we chat with you manager to discuss, crickets, turns out everyone leaves at 6, they are open until 7, he said no one was there. Had no idea what to do, I said well I like the truck, and going to be out of town all week, he said okay and was quiet. I literally had to ask him if I could put a deposit down so it wouldn't be sold. He couldn't even help me. I literally was trying to give him my money. Nope, he was more interested in going home. I am beyond myself and Dave Smith just lost a customer. One rating, the worst experience I have ever had. Literally I wanted to buy the truck and it was the most awkward experience ever, literally didn't know what to do.

Read the whole thing, they're way OVERCHARGING FOR simple fixes! $230+ Hourly rate I was quoted for 4 hours of work, I ended up fixing it myself and it took me less than 45 minutes. And I'm no mechanic. Made an appt to have an alarm fixed that stated the vehicle wasn't in park. Get 3 emails confirming my appt, and scheduled loaner vehicle. Scheduled it in Kellogg, because I wanted to look at a few vehicles to possibly replace mine. Show up, and the Front Desk Lady (very helpful and nice, the only good part of this review) informs me I have no appt in their system and they are out of loaners. Show her the emails, and thankfully she checks and gets my truck looked at rather quickly. Then I'm informed that it's a "Defective Park Position Switch", and it would be 4+ HOURS of labor. I get a quote at $950! I had already found the part online and it was less than $30! So a $230 HOURLY LABOR RATE?!? I declined them fixing it. I went home and it TOOK ME LESS THAN 45 MIN I had the steering column apart, the park position switch fixed, took it for a test drive and a few parking tests, the steering column put back together, and my tools put away! ME! Someone whose mechanical/vehicle knowledge doesn't extend past oil changes, tire changes, and replacing the windshield fluid! I CHANGED IT IN 1/4 OF THE TIME it would take DAVE SMITHS CERTIFIED MECHANICS?! I call Bull! You guys are robbing people! All I had to do was watch a YouTube video and needed a screwdriver, and socket. I 100% won't be buying a new vehicle here now. Any service I need I'll go to a local Post Falls/CDA mechanic instead of you wasting my time for me driving all the way over there, telling me I don't have an appointment when I clearly have proof, not having a loaner that I reserved and then trying to absolutely bamboozle me.

I was completely up side down in the car I had, Chandler, James, and Al were amazing. They got me out of it without getting "hosed". Gave me a great deal on an extended warranty too. Then we came back and bought a new Corvette. Chandler goes above and way beyond what he does to make sure you're comfortable and feel good about your decision. I will travel from western Washington to buy a car here!

Made a deal over the phone on a new 2026 GMC Canyon. Drove 7.5 hours to pick it up on 1/5/2026. When I went to sign paperwork, finance manager Raymond Routh had a $4,500 warranty added on top of what I was supposed to pay for the truck. When I told him "no" on the warranty, he said that this is an added option they do that would not come out of my pocket and that it doesn't go on your loan. He gave me no option to check a box saying no. At the end of everything, this $4,500 was added on top of my loan. When I went back in to tell him I wasn't going to pay for this, he told me that the finance company requires it and that I can cancel it after my first payment. I had no option but to be stuck with the added warranty that he told me I would not have to pay for. When I got home, I called the finance company ( Santander ) and they informed me that they do not require any added warranty for my loan, so basically Raymond Routh lied to me. Then when I tried emailing and calling Raymond Routh, he never answered or returned my calls. My salesman DJ, finally got the AUL warranty cancelled on 1/14/2026 and told me it would take up to 6 weeks and my $4500.00 would be refunded towards the lender. Now it has been 6 weeks and still haven't seen my refund. Once again, I left several emails / calls to Raymond Routh and get "0" responses. I will follow up when I get my refund for the AUL warranty but would strongly urge not to buy from this dealership. The salesman, DJ, was good to deal with but the Finance manager Raymond Routh is a crook.

My search for this particular car had been for two months being hustled through local dealerships, when I decided to look on Ebay motors....Well it was all done by phone and online, but relatively pain free:-) Clyde was extremely helpful on this first time for me experience. He is a great salesman, and he wasn't the slightest bit pushy. Since it was all by phone, I sometimes had 3-6 texts and phone call inquiries a day...and Clyde was always friendly and helpful. Based on this positive experience, I will return to this dealership for purchases in the future! read more

Great price on vehicles, but a waste of money on upgrades. Customer service is 0 stars on upgrades installed in-house. They let us drive off with a bad balance and our new GMC Denali truck was shaking like an old beat up truck at 70 mph. They also sold us a horrible rip off "leveling kit" that made the ride so stiff it didn't feel like a 2018 vehicle. Like I mentioned - don't waste money on upgrades that they install in-house. read more

Horrible customer service, they're only after your money and don't give a s*** about you or anything else. Tried to buy a vehicle from them recently. Dave Anderson was the salesman I was unfortunate enough to work with. Talked to him on a Friday; he was supposed to be calling me back on the following Monday. I didn't hear from him for a week, despite me calling his direct line, leaving multiple messages, and sending multiple emails. Finally called and asked for a different salesman. Dave finally called me after whoever I talked to went directly to him/his manager. Got a terrible deal with the financing, but that's not a surprise since my credit isn't the best and it's a dealership. But then when I said I didn't want to put down a $500 deposit when I didn't know what kind of financing I was going to get or if I would even qualify, Dave was extremely rude on the phone and said he was no longer going to help me or even attempt to work on my financing if I didn't put down a deposit. I will take my business ANYWHERE but here in the future. read more

I contacted Dave smith and dealt with JD, initially went down to check out a truck, was told they couldn't move on the price at all, decided to look a few other places, ultimately called back and it was almost impossible to reach anyone. Finally spoke with Nelly who was nice to deal with, was able to reduce price slightly all of a sudden, went down to pickup, had preapproved financing thru personal bank. Took awhile to get paperwork done and finance section wasn't happy I was using my financing, was less then friendly, got done and wasn't shown anything about the functions the truck provided and had to immediately fill up after spending $43K, won't be referring friends or going back myself. read more

Called salesman Bradley at Dave Smith. Call was great, went over the car I was looking at, gave me the price, took my trade info. Great first call, called back next day with my $200.00 deposit. Then it begins.......... Nothing back from Bradley for a couple days, then Ray the sales manager or fianance guy calls me with my approval. I say Great!!! does that include my trade? No it doesn't- Blame salesman Bradley- OK...........Supposed to hear in a day or two....NEVER heard back. So I buy a car elsewhere after a week of hearing nothing. I am not chasing down a car salesmen for a deal. Back to my Deposit. I gave that depositi on August 22, 2016 and STILL do not have it back nor will ANYONE respond. Needless to say I have attained counsel and disputed the charge. Use this for what it is worth. I bought locally and had face to face contact and the salesman even checks up on me to see if I'm happy. They in my opinion just don't give a ******* cuz they are the BIGGEST and BEST. Keep it up Mr. Smith and you won't be. read more

I will never go to Dave Smith Motors ever again!!! Worst auto buying experience ever! They made an appointment for me to come in and finalize the deal on a Saturday, so had my credit union wire the money to them the Friday before. When I got there they told me they still needed to put the tires on, counsel lid and tail pipe tip. Six hours later, when the work still wasn't done, I told them I wanted to back up the deal. They then informed me the accessories purchased are nonrefundable, even if they can't produce the vehicle they were intended for. They also told me the manager with the authority to back up the deal wasnt there, when in fact he was. Once they had the money and papers signed the customer service was horrible. I finally took delivery on my vehicle about 6 1/2 hours after my appointment and still had a 1 1/2 hour drive home. It hadn't been safety inspected or detailed. Still have previous owners crackers and stuff in the counsel and trays, dog hair in the carpet, etc....HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! read more

My son purchased a vehicle from Dave Smith in 2017. He got behind on his payment, and called the dealership to work out details of catching back up. He was told that they'd work with him, but a couple weeks later the repo man showed up at his house and took the truck. When he contacted the dealer, they said....oh that never got entered into the system, so the only thing you can do now is pay off the truck in full! Now they've sold the truck, and stuck my son with a $17,000 bill for the balance! Anybody can have a bad month and get behind, but GOD help you if it happens with Dave Smith, cause they aren't interested! I wouldn't recommend walking across the street to do business with these guys, let alone go from another state! read more

I bought a truck from Dave Smith only 3 weeks ago. I flew in to Spokane, was picked up from the airport and driven to the dealership. I thought that was really great customer service. I then test drove my used 2007 Dodge Ram 2500. It was raining but I actually got under the truck to check for leaks, did the blowback test and general overview of the truck. All seemed great. Bought the truck and drove it off the lot with my son for the 6.5 hr drive back to Vancouver, WA. 45 minutes after leaving the dealership, the check engine light came on. I immediately called my sales rep and he told me to go get it checked out. I did and was told it was a fuel issue. Sales rep then told me to continue driving back to Vancouver and take it in to a reputable dealer. During the drive I also found out that the AC wasn't working! Got to Vancouver and took it to Dick Hannah and had them check it out. Bill came to over $7000!! Obviously Dave Smith wasn't going to pay for this and only agreed to $1400. I took the truck off the Dick Hannah lot and had a friend work on it instead. He did the work and then, next day, driving down the I-5, truck started to shake, blow smoke and wasn't able to maintain speed. Friend came out and checked it out. Had it towed to his shop. Next day, he told me engine was shot! Head was blown, and one piston was melted! I am in the process of buying an engine. Worst experience in buying a car/truck ever. Hate this place and will NEVER recommend it! They are liars and shysters at Dave Smith! Over 22K down the drain! Be warned....! read more

We bought our car in Jan 2015. Needed a new motor Sept 2015. They cut us deal and worked with us. Excellent. From Sept 2015-Nov 2016 our car was back in there 3x. Nov 2016 finally decided another new motor was needed. They had my car 2 months due to issues with the company they got the motor from. Were told they would work with us on labor because labor was only covered 50%. After month one of our car still not being fixed we were told it would all be handled. Get the call to pick up our car (after I tweeted my anger) and are told $1200 for labor. Al in service was a nice guy. Truly. But to get a bill for $1200 (he knocked some off) after the 2 months of nothing but issues. We were thankful for the loaner car, but it had its own set of issues. The $1200 we had to pay cost them a family of 6 potential car sales in the future. I'll never buy from them again and pray my car doesn't break down again. read more

I can honestly say that my experience with Dave Smith Chevrolet was most superlative! Every detail proved to be above and beyond all expectations of any dealership I have patronized. While en route to Montana, my vehicle's alternator suddenly went out on I-90 around Wallace, ID. I drove to a Wallace repair shop, but they were inundated with work, but diagnosed and suggested I get my vehicle to Dave Smith Chevrolet, 8 miles in the opposite direction. This occurred around 3pm on Thursday, August 10th. Since there was no T-Mobile cell service in the vicinity, I was unable to call ahead; however upon arrival I was greeted with a smile and asked how they could help me. With the clock ticking regarding pre-reserved hotel accommodations booked in Butte, that needed to be cancelled to avoid no-show billing, I explained my concerns to Ralph and was given clear precise direction that an estimated time, as to the course of action, would be given to me before my hotel issue drew near. By golly he was right! With 5 minutes to spare, I was advised that the replacement part would not be available until the morning and that they would take care of it as soon as they opened. At this point I'm already amazed that they did exactly what they said they were going to do! To further substantiate their good reputation, from my point of you, I mentioned my need to eat dinner and was shuttled to a nearby restaurant by an exceptional driver by the name of Lindsay. She drove us directly to a nearby restaurant and even came and picked us up! You have to understand that I'm completely blown away at this point and was expecting the ball to drop at any moment but that never happened and the experience got even better! Knowing that we had to overnight in the area, we were driven to a nearby hotel and was given an exceptional negotiated Dave Smith Chevrolet rate at the hotel. The next morning Lindsay came to pick us up at the hotel and brought us to the service department where I given a stapled booklet explaining the work that was performed. They went over, in detail, what they had done and what they suggested that I do,moving forward. I paid for the work, was spoken to by name and was given a farewell handshake. By God this dealership, most indubitably, is the best I have ever been to! They made an upsetting breakdown into a positive turnaround that I'll never forget. By all means, this place is where you should go first! Especially so if you're like me and were from out of town, not knowing anything about the area. Hats off to the entire Dave Smith team!! read more

So after hearing several people go to Dave Smith I decided to go there to get a new car. Everything went great with the purchase. But then I asked about ceramic coating and was told they could do it with the Accessories Department. After paying 800 dollars my car looked great. After a month I started to noticed water spot that wouldn't come off, when you rubbed your hand on the vehicle is was bumpy, and it appeared the coating was coming off in other spots. Also Dave Smith did the tint and soon had bubbles in the tint. Had to get both things redone. Once the coating (not ceramic) was done I noticed a dent and paint paint on the side of my door. Notified Dave Smith right away and nobody responded. A week went by and the person I was working with basically said the guy that did your vehicle said they didn't do that so wasn't us. I have asked a couple times to contact manager and going on another week and nothing. You buy from there don't trust them to do anything to your vehicle. And another thing I was told by the company does the coating the vehicle is suppose to sit for five days and Dave Smith was done in two hours, they are probably not doing it right. read more

Worst auto dealership experience ever! After selling the car we negotiated right out from under me I messaged the General Sales Manager Scott Johnson with no reply. Terrible service and professionalism. This is the letter: "I am messaging you because I am absolutely furious about the experience I have received from your auto dealership! Please see the above correspondence between myself and your salesman, Tate. When I initially dealt with Tate, I did not have a good experience. However, your company sent me a general "How did we do" email on August 14th and I expressed my concerns. I was contacted after that from Tate with an offer and I excepted and asked for more details. As you can see by the constant messaging between us, he was horrible at corresponding. He kept telling me the car was in the auto body shop. I thought it was VERY odd that he was not having me fill out any paperwork. I kept emailing asking where we were on this deal with NOTHING in response! Finally, I called Tate on Saturday and he actually answered. He told me not to worry that the car was still in the shop. I got back from the weekend on Monday and thought I should call to follow up because I had a very funny feeling about this entire situation. I left a message with no return call. I then left a message for Brian, his team manager, with no return call. I was determined to actually talk to a human to find out what in the heck is going on with the vehicle I am purchasing. So finally on Wednesday, I kept calling until I found a person to speak with on the phone. I was informed that the vehicle was sold in August! WHAT!?!?!? I just talked to Tate Saturday and he told me it was in the shop?! I have never experienced such unprofessionalism from a company before and I am super disappointed to not have the opportunity to have the exact vehicle that I had been searching for over a year. I have never worked so hard on my end to spend $44,000! Shame on you for not responding to my concerns and complaints. I went out of my way to keep open communication and move forward with this deal. YOU never responded. Shame on Brian for not calling me back! I won't even begin to talk about TATE's work ethic and customer service. EPIC FAIL! I am not usually a "review" person or a "Yelp" person but I am glad to know there is a place that I can air my frustrations and complete dissatisfaction for a company. People need to know the lack of professionalism and they need to understand that your company will sell a vehicle right out from under a customer even if the customer has done their due diligence." read more

Horrible online service! After seeing a jeep that I liked and had the options I wanted, I submitted info sure to get me on a spam list. I figured it to be worth "too low to list" pricing sure to be well below the MSRP they had crossed out. After an initial e-mail containing no price info from salesman (Chase S.), I sent several e-mails asking for a price. After waiting a day and a half with no e-mail response, I decided to call them. I was informed that the dealer had installed over $4000 in options so the price was, in fact, thousands higher than advertised. After serving in the US Army, The US Border Patrol, and The Federal Air Marshal Service, I expect to be treated fairly and promptly and not misled by false advertising. They still have the Jeep advertised in the same manner designed to mislead other poor shoppers online. Shame on DSM for poor online service and using bait and switch tactics! I see I'm not alone here. I had a lengthy conversation with Darrell Andrews on Thursday 18th. of this month during which he found the vehicle I wanted, at a cost of just under $60,000. I asked about leasing (apparently not a good option) and, when we finished the discussion I was going to make a down-payment of $30,000 and he was going to arrange for a soft credit check for a loan of the remaining $30,000. That day or the following morning I received a standard e-mail message confirming that they were doing the credit check and that I would hear from them "soon". Five days later, on Wednesday 23rd., I called and left a polite message on Darrell' voicemail. Several hours later I called again and talked to Nellie(?) who said that Darrell was with a customer but would, Nellie assured me, call me as soon as he was free. Two hours later I called again and Amanda, the very pleasant receptionist, said she would give a message to Tom, Darrell's boss, who, Amanda said, "is very good at getting back to people". Three days after that I have, of course, heard from no one. This is, at best, extremely rude! As the credit check was not the problem (my credit is good) I'm guessing that they sold the unit (which, I have since discovered, is quite hard to find) to someone else. Maybe they feel that, given their bizarrely isolated location, no one is likely to drop in with a complaint and they can just ignore people who are no longer useful to them. Anyway, after further research, I have just committed to a Ford F450. Up yours, Dave Smith... read more

I bought a used diesel vehicle truck in Sept 2015 from Dave Smith Motors. The first red flag: the salesman (Justin Adams) said they don't fill up the gas tank with used vehicles after purchase. The second red flag: I bought the extended warranty from Matt in finance who assured me it was bumper to bumper warranty except wear and tear. One week later, I hooked it up to our trailer, and the electrical did not work on the truck for connecting to break lights on the trailer. I emailed Matt (finance mgr at Kellogg ) and the dealership with pictures, etc. No response. Third red flag: 5 months later, and 3k miles added; the engine light came on. Took it into a local dealership (Bellevue, WA) who said it was related to Emissions. $3k. I emailed the dealership and got no response. So I called, and got the original salesman and explained the frustrations. He asked if I could email the original emails I sent to the dealership of electrical issues from Sept 2015, I did. He then asked if I wanted a refund on the extended warranty. I told him I'd wait to think that over. 4th Red flag: I called 1 week later telling Justin Adams I'd take him up on his offer for the refund on the extended warranty. He guaranteed I'd hear back from the dealership and/or the MOPAR extended warranty company before the end of the week on next steps to reimburse me on the extended warranty. Do you think I heard back? No. Imagine. The dealership sells on price, and provides no value. It expects no long term business relationship. Avoid them. Scott read more

I dealt with Dan, Art and Lynn on the used car team. There are numerous issues that I have had with buying my 2015 RAM 3500. It was a used truck so I didn't expect it to be perfect. I put a down payment on it 2 weeks before picking it up so they had plenty of time to go through it and fix any issues with the vehicle. Upon my first test drive I noticed that the truck pulled hard to the left. They put it in the dock and fixed the alignment while I was there. I also noticed that they center console was pretty chewed up so they agreed to pay me back $385 for that as well (never received the check a month later, only pictures of the stub). On the drive home, numerous check engine lights came on and I noticed that there was something loose under the truck and that it would pull hard to the left while braking. I got to Boise and took it to a shop to have it looked at. They found that the brakes were shot, the ABS line was just hanging down draped on the rear axle, that the air bags were just sitting on top of the axle not tightened down among other issues. There were so many issues that I called the used car manager Lynn. I let him know how disappointed that I was that he and his team put me and my son who came along in an unsafe vehicle. He got a little defensive and said that it was not unsafe but that they would take care of it. He said that his best mechanic was the one that looked at it. I got the truck back to Reno and brought it to a shop where it was worked on for 2 weeks. The brakes were replaced as well as rotors and calipers all had to be replaced, the air bag system was shot. The pump and manifold (which had a hole in it so it never worked) as well as one of the lines had to be replaced. There were numerous lights out all over the vehicle including a headlight. The computer had to be flashed (something I asked them to do before I picked it up). The tire pressure system is still not working properly and the rear window does not slide without assistance. The place I took it to could not diagnose those issues. The windshield had illegal tint on it (which I wasn't worried about) but when I took it off, there were numerous cracks that you could not see with it on. That was $250 out of my pocket to have replaced. The total bill from the mechanic was just under 3k. Dave Smith paid that bill. I was appreciative of that, but when you buy a vehicle from a company like Dave Smith, you expect a little more than having to put my truck in the shop for the first 2 weeks and it's still not totally right. I waited a month to write this review to see if I received the $385 check that they promised. I never got it and they have never followed up with me. Not once did I receive a call from their team, not Lynn, not Dan and not Art about how the truck was doing or if everything was alright. It was always me initiating the calls and trying to get them to do the right thing. At one point, I called to ask Art (the guy I dealt with on the purchase) if he could track down the check. He said he would ask Dan and then hung up the phone without ever asking for my number or saying goodbye. I have received emails from Dave Smith talking about retaining their #1 spot. It seems like that is what they are concerned with and not customer service. This was my 2nd truck from Dave Smith and I will not be going back. read more

Great price, but no service after the sale. Bought a used truck less than a year old. Previous life was on a ranch but looked and smelled like new. 2 months later in the height of summer, smelled so bad and covered in flies. Called dealership to ask for assistance and none of my calls were returned. Finally stayed on phone till I got the used car manager who very rudely and aggressively told me there was nothing he was gonna do and it was my problem now. After much conversation and explaining to him that his conduct was more offensive to me than the smell of the truck, he said he'd have it detailed one more time but would not abate the smell. Have bought several vehicles from Dave Smith in the past and have always considered their after the sale service as useless, however, being aggressively attacked and the rudeness of this manager has put an end to my business with this dealership and any recommendations to others to do business here. read more

Searched everywhere when shopping for my new truck. These guys had the BEST deal I could find. So much so I drove across three states to purchase and pick up my truck from them. The reason why my review is 4 instead of 5 stars is because I ordered leather seats to be installed and was told a certain date they'd be done. I drove up on that date and the seats I ordered hadn't even showed up at their shop yet much less installed. I really would've expected a phone call updating me on that. Also, had to wait for them to detail it the morning of pickup which took two hours, and they knew I'd be picking it up. Why not have the detailing done the day before so all that's needed is signing and driving away?? Overall, happy with my purchase and if they have the best deal the next time I'm looking you can bet I'm road tripping up there again. read more

In October of 2014 I ordered a 2015 Challenger Scat Pack from Dave Smith Motors. I placed the order with Sky Lounsbury and emailed her the signed paperwork on October 8th only to find out later the order was not sent to the factory until October 16th. Although I requested confirmation of the order I was told there really wasn't anything they could provide me but would let me know as my order was processed. After a month and a lot of research on the internet I found there was a "priced order confirmation" that I was supposed to have received. After finally getting Sky to send this to me, I discovered the Tires and wheels on the order were not the ones shown on the originally paperwork and was told my only option was to cancel the order and resubmit it and go back to the end of the line for new orders. After a few conversations about the order being placed incorrectly, both Sky and her Manager, Matt Koppel refused to return my phone calls. Needless to say, this dealership had already wasted over a month of my time so I contacted a local dealer . I was able to go down to the local dealer's office and watch them input the order and received the "priced order confirmation" that same day. The local dealer was also able to look at my trade in and commit to a trade in value. Although Sky at Dave Smith told me multiple times they would give me Kelly Blue Book when I asked her to confirm this in writing after a month, all of a sudden there was some other source they needed to use and the trade in would likely be $3,000 or so less than what they had originally lead me to believe. So after wasting a month, I did get my car ordered and actually saved $400 over what Dave Smith would have charged for the new car. I also won't have to drive 350 miles to pick up my new car in the middle of winter where I would have likely run into snow and ice. That is the last time I will try to order a car long distance and will definitely never do business with Dave Smith. Dave Smith clearly didn't know what options were included in the various packages on the vehicles they sell even though we very clearly told them what we wanted. What a complete waste of time. Be very careful when dealing with Dave Smith Motors, Sky Lounsbury and Matt Koppel. Dave Smith Motors Hires bottom of the barrel SCUM AND LIARS. DAVE SMITH MOTORS WON'T RETURN MY DEPOSIT, AFTER I WAS ASSURED THEY WOULD BY THE SALES GIRL AND HER MANAGER, VISA DISPUTE FILED..TRUE WORLD CLASS SKUM AT DAVE SMITH MOTORS..WE GOT OUR $500.00 deposit from Dave Smith by filing a complaint with VISA,, I RECOMEND DOING SO IF YOU ARE SCAMED ON BY DAVE SMITH MOTORS. VISA FOUND DAVE SMITH AT FAULT AND AWARDDED US OUR DEPOSIT BACK. TAKE THAT SKY AND DAVE SMITH. HA HA. read more

My review, first off, is based on my experience with the salesman, whom in the long run represents Dave Smith Motors. Hunter was the reason we stuck it out for the long-haul in our experience, and will be the reason we come back. But, that will not be said for the manager, who kept doing her best to string us along for the ride we specifically did not ask for. She test drove our 2011 Sante Fe, came back to us and said "that's a really clean trade-in". Then, an hour later, she told us she can't give us a "clean trade-in value". That was only the first part of confusion. She then presented us with a print-out that showed what 2011 Sante Fe's were selling for ..... on the east coast of the U.S., at auction. We live on the complete opposite side of the U.S., therefore, demographically not presenting any valid point. Once we were done getting what we specifically asked for, we then had to deal with a finance manager to close. I'm pretty sure I have never been talked down to like that, in my entire life. I drove here from Missoula, Montana, and I damn near left without making a sale due to these reasons. However, our sales rep, Hunter, had busted his ass all day long to make sure we got what we wanted, and after all is said and done, HE is the reason we are giving 4 stars and will come back for future business. read more

Walked in with intention to buy a car. Was approached and "helped" though I was throwing more information at them about the vehicles than they knew. The representative was on their phone looking up what was what. The rep also made no suggestions based on my interests. I made it easy on them and told them, this is what I want. The transaction went smoothly until the final signings when they spent 30 minutes if not longer, attempting to make you feel guilty for not wanting to triple your payment amount with warranties. After that...now speaking a year after transaction, I am being called daily still (after telling them to stop and remove me from call list) warning me about my car's warranty expiration and trying to upsell me, despite all of my requests to take me off. This company has an interesting idea of what "Hassle-Free Buying" means. I would not recommend dealing with this company. read more

I researched this dealership for months!!! I found the prices to be very fair. We drove from Reno to go get our truck. I was very happy with the sales man that helped us, he was very nice and the process went well. I was raving to everyone I knew how good this place was! Fast forward to today, and I have been let down by this dealership. I won't be going back which is sad because I was already saying I was going to give them my business again when I wanted to trade this truck in. I bought my truck on the 7th of March, they had 30 days to get me the paperwork and the check to get it registered. So the 30 days comes and goes and finally we get out paperwork after the 30 days was up. I see that the paperwork was post marked for the 5th or April, and my temp tag was only good till the 7th. When we called to find out where the paperwork was, we first got passed around to different people, then the girl or woman who sends out the paperwork was like "I'm pretty sure you can get it registered with the paperwork you have", I was like "your pretty sure"! Needless to say we had to pay late fees which I feel they should reimburse us for, since she sent the paperwork out so late! read more

asked for a price quote by email on a specific car. all I got from some salesman is email crap, telling how great Smith is and never even got a written price. Bought a car from Sheppard in Eugene this year and one from Ron Tonkin in Portland last year. Bought both with email quotes, vin# and stated price. Real easy if you want to sell instead of this BS you get from Dave Smith. read more

Duke (Allelman) couldn't have given me better service. He forgot about being a salesman and concentrated on what was important to me. I was just there to get some information on a future purchase but I ended up getting not only the information I had sought but also much more. He was more than willing to take me on an informative test drive without the usual salesman hassle. In the future when buying cars, if Duke sells it, he will be my man. 1/13/2015 * Previous review We went all out and bought a RAM 3500 Laramie Limited dually to carry our truck camper. The purchasing experience was smooth. We had them add several features for carrying our truck camper- which went a little less smoothly but ok. We picked it up and drove it home at night. We discovered that certain standard features of the limited model are missing! These features are important to us and are why we stepped up to this expensive of a truck. The features are listed on this vehicles brochure and in all our paperwork from DS for the vehicle we bought. Initially, we hoped for a software glitch. Per the salesman last night, It looks like a Chrysler screw up, the features are NOT on our truck! We are yelping this so other buyers know to check their vehicle options carefully. We want the vehicle we paid $$$$$ for. Our salesman has passed it up the line and we were told we would get a phone call today. We will update this review with how Dave Smith Motors deals with this mistake - hopefully with good news. 1/14/15. 5pm. It has been two business days, We have been unable to get a phone call or email returned so far. Still hoping... Update, 1/24/15 It has been two weeks since we drove the wrong truck home. We were asked to send copies of our paperwork on the truck and were told management was going back through all the phone calls between us and the staff member we had arranged to buy a truck from. They wanted to see who messed up - them or us - which is fair. On day 10 of back and forth emails and phone calls, we received a phone call stating we should have an answer by day 12. On day 12 Dave Smith Motors acknowledged a mistake was made and they have promised to switch this truck for the truck we wanted. At this time, they do not have such a truck in stock with the features we thought we had bought. We were told they would email a sheet with truck information and features to us and they wanted it signed before they will order the new truck. The new truck will take 10-12 weeks to deliver. We are waiting for that paperwork to be sent. Hope it shows up soon, 24 hours and counting since that call. I will update and upgrade to 5 stars when the truck is on its way. 2/11/15. WOW, upgrade to 5 stars today! We have been notified in writing that a new truck with the options we purchased is on its way. Dave Smith Motors has agreed to cover all expenses incurred by us due to their mistake. They are exchanging the truck we have in our possession (now with mileage on it) for the new truck with the correct options that we requested at the time of purchase. I do not think another dealer anywhere would own up to their mistake and correct it like Dave Smith is. Yes, it has been a hassle, but they are doing the right thing. Kudos to DS. Yes, we will buy from them again. I want to mention Sherry Quick in customer relations- it took several days to get in contact,,, but once she was on our case - she kept us informed. Yes, it took longer then we expected, but the outcome is 5*. read more

Buyer beware, They seem like a new breed of dealership until the $$ changes hands. Once that occurs they are just like the rest. Will not return phone calls or emails. They stiffed us for shipping costs they requested on parts from our trade in. If you get a sales person by the name of Autumn ask for a more truthful sales associate. read more

I live in Las Vegas and see Dave Smith Motors license plate frames and have a friend who lives near Couer d'Alene ID. I was in the market for a Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk so I thought I'd give them a try. I spoke with Suziej and gave her the information about the car I wanted to order as well as the trade in info on my Ford Raptor. She said her manager would give me a call with my trade in value. I didn't hear back and called later that day. She said he would call me back and they were really busy. I didn't hear back that day. I guess they were too busy to speak with a customer buying a $99,000.00 vehicle. I called Suziej the next day and she again said he would call me back with my trade value. I asked why she couldn't tell me and she said it had to be her manager. It was early evening when he called me back and he had no idea how much my trade in was worth. I gave him all the information I had given to Suziej. According to Auto Trader he was $5000 low and didn't seem interested in making a deal. I got the impression he didn't want to sell me the $99,000.00 vehicle and did nothing to earn my business. It was as if he couldn't care less. I went to a local dealer in Las Vegas who gave me full trade in value on my 2017 Ford Raptor and ordered me the same vehicle, matching Dave Smiths price. Dave Smith did nothing to earn my business. Saved me a round trip to Seattle, WA area and I got the same deal in Las Vegas. I feel bad for Suziej, who's manager cost her a $99,000 dollar sale. read more

Cannot recommend this dealership. Arrogant via email, prices way too high. I will not go 900 miles to get jerked around like a local dealership. check the "non recommended" reviews, they are almost all ONE star. Sounds like Yelp is biased. If they had an honest rating, it would be about 2 to 3 stars on yelp. read more

I do not wish my experience on anyone.I buy new trucks every year and thought that I would try Dave Smith. If I could cancel the deals I would but they hold you hostage with the non-refundable deposit. If this was a stand up dealership they would refund my deposits and let me purchase from a dealership that I would feel more comfortable with. They never advised me that after they have been funded I would have to wait over 3 weeks to get my trucks. read more

It would seem that my experience with this quasi-criminal organisation is consistent with anyone else on here who has also had a one-star experience. I would also like to point out that I have worked in and out of the automotive industry most of my adult life, and am former dept manager (not sales) of a dealership myself. NEVER, in my life, have I seen such conduct out of a sales dept. And that really, really says something. They have gone through a lot of trouble to earn every word of this honest, and thorough review. I first came in to contact with Dave Smith motors on 05/21/18 after an adolescent salesman named Kobe cold-called me in Seattle trying to sell me a car. This was one of several such calls I received after a different dealership i had made a cursory inquiry with illegally sold my information to about a half dozen random others. I told him what the deal was with that, but I said I would hear him out on some other cars. As my now-deceased father bought no fewer than THREE trucks from this dealer in his life with satisfaction. So, I told Kobe what I wanted, what I had to trade in (all in great detail). He chose a car from inventory (a 2018 Jeep Compass) that fit the bill, but was in the upper echelon of my price range with all assurances it would be fine for financing. All of this was over the phone, where I had to hand-hold him through every bit of the process (I was very assured from the outset that I was either his first customer ever, or his last) as he seemed to have no clue what details were needed as part of this kind of doing business. I had to give him my car's VIN SEVEN times (and he still requested it to be sent by print later that day, not yet having it). When he said he was going to take the info off to finance, I had to text him and give him the rest of the information he would need to doon, as they were ''just about to begin'' on my paperwork process....the day before I was to go get the car. I immediately text Kobe, and tell him of this, and remind him that after the 30th, I lose the incentives. And in a week's time period, I will make a new payment on my existing car, and walk. He says he will get an update from them in the morning. Morning comes, and he says they will have all ready to go by the 2nd. Assuring me not one single parameter of the deal would change regardless (dis-believable as that was). So, I move heaven and earth again at work to make a trip on the 2nd doable. And remind him, that any more surprises will make his managers my new hobby once more. And also mention that the story has changed on a daily basis, and I am not happy one bit about that. He promises an update the next day. Next day comes and goes, no Kobe. I text him the following morning thanking him for the lack of an update. He then claimed that no such promise of an update was made. Which I pointed to in the text right above where he said just that the last time we had talked. I said I WILL be getting updated that day and the next, and that I no longer believe the 2nd to have any importance for them. Another day goes by, no update. I demand that a manager calls me. And he ceases communication mid-conversation. This is the 1st of June mind you. The day BEFORE I was to go get the car. I have to leave a message with his direct manager (Cameron) to call me ASAP. Hours later I get a call from him, and he says he has my file, financing is approved and all ready to go. I ask him to read its contents to me: Not one single detail of financing is what I asked for. And he replies with ''Oh? What did you ask for?'' That earned the only coarse exclamation of the day from me, for which I immediately apologized, as he was new to this matter, and it was not he who had jerked me around for two weeks to date. I told him that was of course unacceptable though, particularly after all of this work and time; ON the day I was to pick up the car to boot. He offered to refund my holding fee, which I assured I would be accepting. And then went on to mention that I will re-visit this car buying matter in some months, with a larger down payment around Labour day sale time. And that after this treatment of someone who came to his dealership because his father had bought SEVERAL cars there in the past, I would not be doing that business anywhere near it. He then got very cross, and hung up on me. I have had no indication nor confirmation of any sort of refund. Much less an apology. I will get whatever authorities I need involved to get my money back. And those that know me know one doesn't want to be in between me and anything I actually feel like doing...such as, when I actually felt like buying a car from the ''number one dealer''. Whom ever from Dave Smith reads this review, you are going to call me first thing in the morning, or you are going to regret it. I do NOT say things I do not mean. I need not waste any more words describing how and how often I was attemptedly screwed over in the course of this all. read more

Warning to anyone wanting to buy at Dave Smith Automotive. This place was a nightmare! We had a truck picked out that we were planning on buying. My husband worked with Owen a sales rep during the initial process over the phone. We are out of state buyers... Ten hours away. Anyhow, the sales rep found the truck we were specifically after and then informed us that they needed a 500.00 deposit. We didn't like that one bit and basically told them that if they wanted to make the sale we were not paying the deposit. Owen's words were "I'll check on this and see how bad the boss wants to make the deal" We did hear back and Owen informed us that the deposit was not needed. His words were " done deal". We also kept all of this correspondence via text just in case. Second complaint... We lined everything out with the deal and we're going to leave the following week. Owen told us that the truck would be there and ready. We called the day before we had made arrangements to leave and Own had no idea where the truck was. Couldn't find it... We stayed in limbo not knowing if we were going to leave (10 hour drive) or not. I wondered if this sales rep would have even called us to let us know the truck was not there yet... So glad we checked. Third complaint.... A couple weeks pass and still no truck. Communication was just plain awful and completely unprofessional. Finally heard back from Owen and got a confirmation on truck arriving. We asked for some pics and that seemed to be complicated as well. We did end up getting a pic after many go- arounds. Fourth issue... We drive all the way to Kelli gg, arriving around 10:00 am. The dealership knew we were coming that day to pick up. When we got there, it seemed very unprofessional, no real greeting or communication. Owen looked frazzled/ confused. We asked to see the truck and he couldn't seem to find it. We waited in the lobby with our three children,(two, six and thirteen) and proceeded to wait, and wait...We weren't expecting to be in and out but what we went through was rediculous. Owen kept saying "I'll be right back" and "shouldn't be too much longer". At 1:00 we still hadn't seen the truck and didn't know what was going on. We demanded to tak with owen's supervisor, "Zig". He looked just as frazzled and acted like he was too busy to talk with us. We quickly looked over some paperwork and discussed our trade/in. He assured us that we would be on the road in no time. All the while we are still waiting to see/ drive this truck. He basically sent us back to the Lobby. 4:00 rolls around, we're still in the lobby with our three kids and got no info. We asked to speak with Owen and Zig again... Still no truck or explanation for what's taking so long. 5:00 comes and we finally get to peek at the truck for a total of two mins. Next complaint..... 5:30 we start the paperwork process. We get almost complete and the finance manager says we need that down payment of 500 to finish off the deal. I inform him that we were told we did not need to hand over any cash... Even had the text as proof. We have a check ready to hand over for our agreed on cost. At this point the finance guy has to call Owen and Zig back in to discuss the 500. Zig's boss Pual now gets involved. Zig and Paul acted like we were more of a pain than a customer ready to hand over some big money. We all had a very heated discussion.... And at that point they gave us some options. Cancel deal, they offered to cover half of the 500 or take a major hit on our trade. None of this sounded good. This was not what was agreed on or what we were told by Owen. We continued to talk/which continued into a yelling match between us Paul and zig. Completely unbelievable... Much dishonesty and unprofessionalism. Needless to say Paul was so completely arrogant he called the deal off. So nine hours later we walked out. Do not buy here! Save yourself a headache.... The three men/boys we dealt with were [non-permissible content removed] and just didn't like us challenging them. It became more of an ego thing than making the sale... Disgusting behavior displayed and pure dishonesty, disorganization and lack of communication! read more

We finally gave Dave Smith a try after all of the negatives we had heard about their company. Dave Smith tried working with us as out of state buyers, until we received the car from the shipping company. Conditions of the sale from Dave Smith were as follows: Vehicle was freshly detailed, vehicle was fully serviced, they would replace summer tires with 10 ply tires and put summer tires in the back of the car for shipment, they would install a three-way battery, block, and oil pan heater, they would pay to ship car to Washington, and they would prepare the vehicle, (fuel level and other requirements), for shipment to Alaska. As we have purchased many vehicles, we said we would not purchase the vehicle if these conditions were not met. Before the sale, the salesman said they would ship and prepare for shipment, detail, service, do service work, but not replace the tires, so we said no sale. The next day, the salesman called back and said they would replace the tires and put the summer tires in the back of the vehicle. So, all of the conditions were met, we agreed to the sale. When we received the car after 3 months, the truck delivery service instantly showed us the report of the damages on the vehicle prior to shipment. Our salesman told us the car was "freshly detailed" and mentioned nothing of the chips, cracks, and dents in the vehicle. However, I did not expect the car to be perfect. But, this could have been mentioned prior to the sale. The salesman also promised us the good, used tires as a condition of the sale of the vehicle, and said they were in the back of the vehicle. There were no tires in the back of the vehicle. We emailed our wonderful salesperson. During email correspondence, he said "Accessories lost your tires, not me", and "you can call Triangle transport for any damages they did". Most importantly, there was very little oil in the car upon arrival. A condition of the sale was the vehicle was freshly serviced. In an email, we were told by the salesman, "As far as I know the oil and filters are changed on all our used rig so yours should have been changed as well". This should be on a sticker or documented. But, he was unable to tell us for sure. Thankfully, I checked and added oil before driving anywhere. During more email correspondences, our salesman replied, (all spelling errors have been left as he wrote them), "I thought the Tahoe was one of the cleanest pre owned Tahoe's I have ever seen. It was a good deal and we gave you a substantial discount and payed for shipping so if you want to send us a check back for all the discounts, shipping and the crevice bill to drop the fuel tank and siphon the gas then I think we are even. Generally people are tickled pink with the vehicles and experience when here. It sounds like you folks are new car buyers that just dint want to spend the $." If the car had arrived as promised, we were on our way to purchase another new company and/or personal vehicle from their dealership. This salesman clearly does not understand how many sales he has just lost for Dave Smith. Not only from our family and business, but everyone we speak to. This salesman was completely rude, did not follow through on his conditions of the sale, and needs some further training in customer service. Even if a customer is wrong, his rudeness and arrogance is completely uncalled for. We would highly advise going elsewhere to purchase new or used vehicles. read more

My steel guy & his wife gave me some great feedback on their experience last Saturday out at Dave Smith..(& they don't do yelp......so..here's what they said): "We were very apprehensive to go to another state to purchase a truck, especially with Dave Smith Autos with the mixed/low reviews we saw..aside from the bit than normal wait time to sign our finance papers...(it was a Saturday..so busy). we are very happy. From the shuttle pick up at the airport, to driving away in our new truck..we were beyond amazed & pleased. We were called & texted at all times before & after the purchase making sure we were happy & ok..at all times. Shuttle Driver-Kind & courteous & knowledgeable. Boston-our sales guy-Kind, attentive & honest & straightforward, caring & beyond helpful. Axel-our stand in sales guy-an exceptionally wonderful guy-positive, caring, helpful, goes above & beyond, even put a big red bow on the truck for us. Jon-in finance-kind & thoughtful. Austin in financing-Amazing--we really cannot say enough about him..he is a true GEM. Some of the low reviews are definitely from lack of knowledge & not doing your homework or a just from a general lack of common sense. Every buyer can look at the car-fax. & Every buyer should take the vin # of the truck/car they are looking at & have their insurance company do a pre-quote on it-if you have a good insurance co. they can tell you right away the vehicle history, claim record etc. on any vin#. Every buyer can put the vin # into nada.com for the value. Every buyer should check out all aspects of what they are thinking of buying, including the finance side so you have no surprises. Every buyer reads the $500 deposit statement before they sign it & the terms on it. Every buyer can confirm & get a response via email & text with Dave Smith auto that all is 100% good to go before they make the trip out. Every buyer can get the personal cell phone of the salesman they are dealing with. Every buyer can confirm 100% with their sales guy if the truck/car is available & will be 100% ready. Every buyer can negotiate & even on the "bits" if something is wrong once your there. Every buyer can ask for a more experienced sales or finance person if the one you have isn't up to par. Look around at your local dealer- Especially in Utah at the price per odometer reading & year. Not one single Utah dealer could touch what Dave Smith offered. Not one-we researched for 4 months. Look around at your local dealer-hear the crickets in the lot? No-one is there-places are empty...Dave Smith's was packed & we had a California firefighter & a couple from Hawaii in our shuttle with us. We are VERY picky & detailed oriented, difficult customers, no matter what we are buying. They came through for us hands down. We are actually still in awe how well it went & how well it all worked out. Axel even texted us on Sunday to make sure we got home ok & all was still good....tell me where you are ever going to get that kind of customer care anywhere? Very rare!.. Thanks again to all out there. " read more

Honestly. This was my favorite place to do business. Until recently. They bent over backwards to help me. I had some tricky situations and they were able to help out.. with what seemed seemlessly. Today I received a call from Wells Fargo. A company that I held a loan through for a vehicle that I traded in with Dave Smith Motors 3/2016. It is now 12 months later and I have been informed that my vehicle I traded in was NOT paid off properly during the trade to the tune of over $9,000 and got sent into a Charge-Off instead of Paid off status of some kind (yes the vehicle was behind payments, but I had a settlement 10-day pay off) . I also received a 1099 in the mail for the same amount from Wells Fargo. I would like to believe that the error falls under Wells Fargo end because they are a shady company to begin with and I fully trusted Dave Smith for business. However, after a very lengthy phone call with Wells Fargo. I do not believe it was on their end. At this point I am at a total loss. I get that people make mistakes, I make them everyone does. But a mistake in this amount.. whether it was paid or reported properly/incorrect etc is detrimental to me or anyone for that matter. Not only does my credit suffer, but not everyone has 9k laying around to fix these kind of errors....I have also called and left a message at the dealership in hopes that we can all resolve this issue in a timely fashion. This is only the tip of the iceberg... again I did business in August 2016. I bought a 2012 Terrain with less the 90k miles on it, oil changed regularly.. that needed not only ONE but TWO new engines by 12/2016. Thank their lucky stars warranty covered that. Unacceptable. It's now Feb 2017 and I was just able to pull the car out of the shop I took it to on 2/15/2017. I also had post dated some checks to come out 2 weeks later for the down payment... the money was not taken out of my account until Oct... 3 Months Later 3 Days in a row.. Granite I had the $3313 dollars in my account to cover these. You would think that the payments would have came through before my FIRST payment I had in Sept 2016 for this vehicle. I will be seeking legal advice on all the above counts if I feel it is necessary. read more

Let me start by saying I'm completely shocked and amazed by this dealership. We are from Spokane WA and went online to truck shop. Found Dave Smith and submitted a form on what we are looking for. The next day got a call from a man named Phillip. Was super polite and helpful. Helped me over the phone find vehicles and look at them online. We found one we liked, but we were hesitant to buy a vehicle online and so far away. Phillip eased our minds explaining we can have it looked at by a mechanic of our choosing. Fast forward, we make the 2 hour trip to Dave Smith, see the car, buy the car without having it looked at. My fault completely, not Dave Smiths. It was a used truck and with buying used vehicles have issues. We get it home have a mechanic run thru it and they find almost $1700 in things wrong. I wasn't to happy. I emailed the manager of the section of the store we bought the car from and explained my dissatisfaction with this truck and the issues. Now I no its buyer beware and sold as is but I was mad. Within minutes Brian H called me and told me that he apologies for this and by no means is this the practice of there company to let a car leave there lot with issues. He told me to find a mechanic, have all the issues fixed and bill them. No cost to me what so ever. So within 2 days of buying the vehicle getting it home finding the problems, they were all fixed and cover by Dave Smith. It didn't take weeks, there was no phone tag, no games, no hassel, no questions asked. This has got to be the best car buying and sales experience I have had with any car lot. Normally it's sorry as is. Can't help you. Blah blah. Not with Dave Smith in Kellogg. I recommend anyone to give them a shot. Talk with Phillip Howard and Brian Hall for a good experience. This is a true and accurate experience. No gimmicks. Thanks guys. David and Samantha from Spokane Wa..... read more

The best dealership experience ever. I searched online and got contacted by Trevor Thomas. From the beginning there was knowledge, understanding of my needs and never any try to steer me into buying something else. He was ultra patient when I explained to him that I had many things going on for me at this same moment in my life and was very upset with some of the dealership I had already dealt with. After one month searching for the right price for my truck, the decision was made to drive all the way to ID. When you get there, they acknowledge you and don't make you wait around. Trevor was even more outstanding in person. We went straight to business. They even got me a better rate then what my credit union of 12 years offered. There are some sales pitches, but no one pushes it too hard and if you decline them, politely, then that's it. They were speedy and friendly all the way. Everyone working there seemed very knowledgeable and satisfied in being there. When we got to talk to the finance person, another surprise. Austin Garrett is the easiest finance person I ever had to talk to. Knows what he is doing, understands and explains everything you ask, and I asked a lot. Dave Smith was the best all around. Shame on the rip offs that we have here in Portland, Washington and anywhere close. They pull your teeth out to give you a truck. They are the ones that give car dealers the bad reputation they have. Dave Smith is on the other end of the spectrum. They earn your business and your respect. You feel confident that you can refer them to friends and family. This was my third new vehicle purchase and the most pleasant one. I will drive any friend of mine, who's looking to buy a truck, all the way to little Kellogg, ID. They will be thankful I did so. read more

Our family has bought 4 vehicles from Dave Smith Motors. We loved each deal, and the people that served us. My wife hates buying cars, but she loves going to this dealership. We travel 725 miles from So. Or. for outstanding deals in the past. I am now looking to buy my dream car--a new Challenger SRT8 Core. OK guys sharpen your pencils,so I can bragg on the deal I got on this one too. If you make this happen this will be the 5th vehicle we've purchased from Dave Smith Motors. By the way I've refered people from my business to yours to buy new cars. They too have traveled 725 miles for a great deal. Lithia down here in my area cannot touch you guys. It's the most fun We've ever had buying a new car. My wife looks forward to the trip. I look forward to the car. I need a real good deal on this (retirement) car that I want to buy in this terrible economy. I hope this goes back the other way through the chain of command,so the powers that be up there see this. Will be calling you again very soon. I've been waitting for this Challenger since they came out. Hope we can strike a very good deal. We could go right here close to us,and buy,but too many games have been played in the past. If I never end up with my car,I wouldn't buy it here. For all of us on this end of the country that buy from you--we get a good deal, and you sell a vehicle. We drive off,and you never see that vehicle again, unless we bring it back to trade on another. It's a win, win. Thanks, John N read more

I decided to get a new Ram 2500 diesel Crew, do to the fact that my Chevy Silverado 2500HD could not handle my new camp trailer so went to a few dealerships here in Bend/Portland area, and was not really happy on how I was treaded and prices, so I called up Dave Smith and got Devin Van Allen. He was great from the get go I was just calling to see about prices and options and Devin was not pushy at all and went over everything with me (I ask a lot of questions and I have to know everything before I make up my mind) I told him I needed to think about things and he still was not pushy at all I did follow up with Devin the next day with a list of options I wanted and Devin was able to get me the truck I was looking for and with every option I wanted and even was able to get it a color I wanted. I was able to work with Devin all week and he took care of the whole deal over the phone NO BS NO TRICKS!! They told me right up front what I was going to get for my two trades... I will never go anywhere else to get my next truck and was the BEST truck buying experience EVER!!!!!!! They even bought us dinner, no dealership has ever just offered to do this I have always had to ask. It was well worth the 1k mile round trip to get my truck. NO dealership here in Bend could even come close to what Dave Smith and Devin did for me. Devin you ROCKED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dave Smith you have a customer for life now.... read more

I had an issue with a new car I purchased from DSM. It involved the wrong paint color being ordered (just for the record there are 2 blacks for GM vehicles....Onyx and Carbon). Anyway the salesperson ordered a carbon black and I had wanted a onyx black. The salesperson originally thought there was only one black option. I picked up my vehicle on a Saturday and the following Tuesday I found out that there was a onyx black available for 2011 GM vehicles. I was bummed out, because the carbon black was not as nice as the onyx. I asked for DSM to consider letting me return this vehicle for the proper color, because I had documented in emails my original request for an onyx black vehicle. I had already put about 600 miles on the new vehicle. I received a call from the GM as well as Ken Smith (DSM owner). They apologized for the issue and said they would order me the proper color vehicle from the factory to exchange for the vehicle I currently had. The part that really blew me away was that Ken told me to just keep the new car I was driving until my new car arrived from the factory, so I would not be inconvenienced at all. Their apology and generosity have made me a life long DSM customers. I have always known you could not beat their pricing, but now I know you cant beat their customer service either. They have created a raving fan! Michael H. read more

As an equine rescue based in southern Utah, our ongoing duties prohibited us from making the journey to north Idaho to inspect the 2009 Ram Cummins we wished to purchase from Dave Smith Motors. As a condition of purchase, we were assured through phone and internet conversations that an intricate inspection would be conducted by their "crack" inspection team, and corrections would be made to anything found prior to shipment/delivery of the vehicle. Sadly, we proceeded with the purchase, and within 24 hrs of receipt of the vehicle we discovered multiple mechanical discrepancies. It was clear that either no inspection took place, or the dealership felt no compulsion to correct any of the easily discoverable issues, which included significant oil leaks among the myriad of irregularities. As a result, we were forced to have the vehicle inspected by our mechanic, forced to correct the multiple discrepancies ourselves, and forced to pay 50% of the approximately $5,000 in repairs for our troubles. The actions, or more correctly inactions, of Dave Smith Motors suggests to me that their loyalty is to $$$, buyer be damned. Fact is, the truck is at the shop as of this writing for a whole new set of electrical issues. Purchase at your own risk!!! read more

My husband and I have purchased both our vehicles from DSM. I had my 18 month old son in the vehicle with me and I was pregnant with my daughter when my headgasket blew in my Chrysler 300. I had my vehicle towed to service where they established a blown headgasket and many other significant issues that were found. Long story short, I decided to take the loss and look for something immediately. Bob Cameron and Stephanie Latina were ON IT. They sent me different options for an SUV and within 3 days I was signed and down the road in my brand new car. I was AMAZED at how quick and efficient everything went. Signing for it was short as well. I still adore my car. I have it serviced at DSM everytime I need it done, and they even send me detailed quotes on tires with specifics when I'm due for them. My husband bought his 2017 Ram in December of 2016 and it is everything he ever wanted. Long story short, we wont stop buying from DSM. Their sales teams are amazing and they really will go over every option you can think of before you sign on something. Everytime you walk in the door at the dealership, there is a friendly face greeting you. Our experiences were a great and I highly recommend it. read more

If you're looking for a new Ram, Roman is your guy. He was the first salesman we have ever had who had a personality while doing business. He told jokes while on the test drive. Roman made it very clear that he wanted to respect our time while we were at the dealership. He offered coffee from their espresso machine in the lobby. When he had to get paperwork signed, this man RAN AROUND! He made it happen! If he is eligible for a raise or a bonus he truly deserves it. His attention to detail was great. The online pricing he was very up front about any additional amount for registration. This man can even pair a flip phone to a vehicle via Bluetooth! The finance guy really knew his stuff. He sat there an answered all questions. The general manager and Romans boss stopped by and chatted for a while about places to eat near Kellog. They were both above and beyond kind. We are highly impressed and would like to come back the next time we need to upgrade! PLEASE ASK FOR ROMAN ON YOUR NEXT VISIT! He will even miss his baseball game to stay late and make things right when buying a Ram. Roman deserves more than a 5 star yelp review. He makes everyone feel like family. read more

Shout out to a top notch salesman, Anton Ferraro! I was in the market to purchase my first brand new vehicle and had no clue what I actually wanted. Anton spent time asking questions to identify what I was looking for and needing in a vehicle and he patiently worked with me as I test drove many different vehicles. I found one I loved but never thought I would ever be able to afford, a Cadillac SRX! Anton worked with me until we could make this a reality! The time and effort that Anton demonstrated was like none other I had experienced with dealerships in the past, I was treated like a person, not just a sale! After completing paper work with finance Anton was waiting for me with my new vehicle and set up my Bluetooth and accessories... which probably would have taken me hours to figure out. Since, my husband and I have purchased additional vehicles from Anton and have had more great experiences. We told Anton my husband needed a commuter car for work and let him know what we were looking for. Anton searched to find our car and called to have us come check it out and it was exactly what we were looking for! Thanks Anton for your stellar customer service!! read more

I'm a California resident, and I recently bought a 2021 RAM 1500, from Trace at Dave Smith Motors. Being from California I tried working with several DODGE dealerships from ALL OVER the state, and none of them were able to do what Trace and Dave Smtih Motots could do for me. Purchasing a vehicle from a salesman 1000 miles away whom you've never met, or not being able to test drive the truck you're purchasing can be somewhat of challenge. But I have to say that Trace made this experience one of the best experiences I have ever had purchasing a vehicle.. He did everything he said he was going to do, and the truck was everything Trace said it was. I am beyond happy with not only my beautiful truck, but more so the honesty, professionalism, and relationship building from Trace and the entire team I got to work with. Beginning with Dana in the website chat. to Trace, to Al with accessories, and ending with Joe in finance! It made the 30 hours drive in 47 hours every bit worth it!! Thank you again to Trace Fedele, and the entire Dave Smith Motors team, I look forward to seeing you all again when I'm ready to upgrade!' read more

I purchased a new truck from Dave Smith Motors in 1997. This was when the Cummins engines were new and they only made 100,000 per year, so no dealerships could get them on the lot. I went through a broker who pulled over to wash the truck before delivering to me in Seattle. At that time Dodge was experimenting with 7-mil thick paint which is paper thin, and the broker may have scratched the paint when he washed it. Dave Smith Motors took care of me. I drove the truck back and they painted it again at no cost to me. I liked the experience so much I added a chrome package and step-sides. Put 100k miles on that truck and sold it for more than I paid for it. I'm now in the market for another truck, but frankly I'm getting sticker shock from the prices. $65,000 for a new Dodge truck??? WOW. WHAT WENT WRONG? My guess - after Dave Smith Motors was boycotted by other Dodge dealers in 1998, they jacked prices back up as part of the settlement, even though they won in court. Not sure I can recommend them based on the info I have at hand, but in 1997, they treated me like a King and that is worth 5-star props. read more

just bought a 2500 ram truck from Dave Smith in Kellogg.......the absolute , hands down best car buying experience I've ever had. Lithia in spokane will never see me again....ever..... Reuben at dave smiths is outstanding, from him to the sales manager, to the finacing dept. they all were first rate........my wife and I were never pressured, and what ever it took to make us happy thats what they did. I can't recomend these people enough, doing business the way business should be done, charging an honest price,(less than anyone I've found) making an honest markup.......it's not a mistake to deal with them....and the free expresso was a plus :) the day we were to pick up our truck we drove 3 hours to get there, there was a glich in the service dept and it wouldn't be ready for 3-4 hours.....they told us to go home , they would deliver our truck when it was done. it's 6 hours round trip from where they are to where we live. . they filled up our tank and sent us on our way. and later in the day delivered our new ride.... I ask you seriously, what other car dealer on the planet would do this ? read more

My husband and I absolutely made the right choice to drive from Everett, WA. to Kellogg,ID. We had shopped locally and were disappointed in the used trucks and the asking price for them. Danielle Brimhall was fabulous as we emailed and texted over several days regarding what my husband and I wanted - a gently used Dodge Ram diesel truck for hauling a travel trailer or 5th wheel to be purchased in our near future. Danielle found a gorgeous white, fully loaded with a bed liner, canopy, and many other extras before it was even put on-line. We hesitated about going over to see it as we had just ran across some pretty good sounding deals locally; but we went. The entire day was without pressure, a lot of time was spent on test driving several times and education on how everything worked on the truck. Negotiation on price was very upfront, no hassles. When we discovered on the way home that one of the headlights was out, they refunded the price we paid for it. We would buy from them again. We highly recommend them! read more

I recently bought a new pickup truck from Dave Smith Motors in Kellogg Idaho. I pretty much closed the deal on the Phone with Jayleen Hall and Mark in accessories before traveling from Great Falls Montana to their dealership in Kellogg. I could not be more happy with the entire experience. Jayleen worked hard to get me the truck I wanted at the right price and Mark gave me the best advice for accessories and he had everything on the truck by the time I got there. All of this was done with big smiles and a professional manner. I was shown the ABC'S of my new trucks operational and safety features. My wife and I were impressed, it was a magical setting, buy the time the sun had gone down and we were on the road to pick up our new slide in truck camper just West of Kellogg. I give the folks at Dave Smith Motors five stars, I've dealt with many dealers in the past and I have to say, "thanks to the people at Dave Smith" you folks impressed me and that's not so easy to do. I visited a few dealerships and knew I wanted a new truck, but could not find what I considered a reasonable deal. I visited Dave Smith and met salesperson Christina Goulart. She was knowledgeable and patient. She did not pressure me into any vehicle. What I appreciated was she showed me several options, I know, that is her job, but she really took in account of what I said and what I wanted. When I finally made the decision of the vehicle I wanted, it was a bit more than I wanted to spend. She found me the same color and features on a vehicle that was one year older and it would literally save me $10,000. Even if I would have simply walked away I know she would have maintained her professionalism and kindness. She was very patient and attentive to my needs and I really appreciate it. I would highly recommend Dave Smith and certainly Christina to anyone considering purchasing a vehicle. I mean she even comes in on her day off to help you if needed, that is some dedication. read more
