Not Done Right the First Time, Poor Communication I want to start my review by saying that Miles, the general manager, was always courteous and helpful when I called. I also understand that cars are complicated, especially older vehicles, and that there's a pandemic going on. And yet, the service I received at Dave's Auto was extremely frustrating and I am left feeling dissatisfied at best. This whole ordeal started on April 20, when I agreed to have my vehicle (2006 Dodge Sprinter with 195,000 miles) towed to Dave's Auto for an engine replacement (expected to cost around $15,000). We originally discussed a May 1 pickup date. I live in Missoula, Montana so most of these correspondences were done over the phone or email, and I was attempting to coordinate flights to collect the van as well as a move-out date for my apartment. I sent over consent for services on April 29 and told my landlady that I would be out of my apartment by the end of the month (the van is set up for living). I didn't hear anything further from the shop until May 20, when I sent a followup email. I then booked a flight for May 28 (almost a full month behind schedule) to pick up the van. On May 24, the shop realized that the wrong fuel injectors had been installed by a different shop. It is unclear why this was not discovered earlier. The van had already been at Dave's Auto for over a month at this point. Dave's Auto then rushed to reinstall new fuel injectors in time for my flight. I left my dogs in the care of my landlady, who agreed to feed and let them out but nothing more. I planned to be back in Missoula on May 30 (a 2-day trip). When I arrived on May 28, I was told that a test drive had been done and that the van was finished. I started driving and got about 10 minutes away before a check engine light came on and the van went into "limp mode." I returned to the shop and was told that we'd need to replace the turbo sensor, but that the sensor wouldn't arrive until June 1 due to the holiday weekend. I understand this is not the shop's fault, but I never got a straight answer as to why this problem was not discovered earlier or what was done on original test drives. I tracked down a turbo sensor at another dealership and replaced it myself. The van still did not work. Miles (over email on a holiday weekend, kudos to him) suggested the EGR valve may need cleaning. I removed and cleaned the EGR valve. A mechanic friend suggested replacing the turbo resonator eliminator; I did that. At this point it was May 31 - I was supposed to be home on May 30. I was no closer to a solution than I had been on May 28. At this point it was clear that I would not be returning home to care for my dogs, so I scrambled to find dogsitters over a holiday weekend while I was 8 hours away from them. I live alone and don't have family in Montana; none of my friends are available to dogsit. I returned the van to the shop on June 1. They replaced the EGR valve, charging me over $700 for those repairs and taking another 2 days of me living in Salt Lake City without my dogs. That did not fix the problem, as the van continued to slip into "limp mode" after a mere 10 minutes of driving. On Wednesday June 2, Dave himself sent me out the door with the van, having replaced that EGR valve. I was told that it had been test driven and that I was good for the 8 hour drive home. Within 10 minutes of leaving the shop, the exact same problem re-triggered. I returned to the shop again and was told that the next step was to replace the turbo, at $2,000+. Remember; I brought the vehicle in originally for fuel injectors. Then it became a new engine. Then it became a turbo as well. The vehicle had not needed a new turbo and had never triggered limp mode in the 9+ months previous to these repairs. I do not have an explanation from the shop as to why this could be the case. If I had a job that required in-person work, at this point I suspect I would have been fired. I was in Salt Lake City for a full week longer than expected. I had to buy clothes and shampoo for myself and coordinate dogsitters from 8 hours away. I had to cancel work appointments due to not having my notes or gear with me, losing me time and money. I understand that engines are complicated and that they could not have foreseen all of these complications. I also understand that there's a pandemic going on and that shops are busy. My issue is that I was repeatedly given timelines that were inaccurate which upended my life completely and that I was sent home with a vehicle that was clearly not ready to drive. This job was NOT done right the first time. I still do not have an answer from Dave's Auto as to why I had no communication or updates between April 29 and May 20. It seems as though many of the problems we experienced between May 28 and June 4 were due to a rushed job on those 6 days. I took my 2022 Ram 2500 with a 6.7L Cummins to Dave's Auto Center with high expectations after watching their YouTube videos and believing their shop to be honest and transparent. I'm a mechanic by trade -- not a diesel specialist, but an experienced professional -- and had already replaced several components before bringing the truck in, including multiple sensors and a Cummins remanufactured EGR valve purchased directly from a dealership. Despite these efforts, I was still experiencing a persistent check engine light for high EGR flow and frequent regenerations. When I arrived at Dave's, I was told there would be a diagnostic fee and that they might need to drive the truck a few hundred miles to identify the issue. I agreed to this, understanding the complexity of diesel systems. They determined that a DPF cleaning was necessary, which I approved. That service did successfully resolve the frequent regeneration issue. However, the main problem -- the EGR flow code -- remained unresolved. Over the course of six weeks, they put nearly 1,500 miles on my truck, driving it extensively between Centerville, South Jordan, American Fork, and Willard, Utah. Ultimately, their conclusion was that I needed a new mass airflow sensor (which did fix the issue) and a non-remanufactured EGR valve. They also encouraged me to seek a warranty replacement from the dealership, claiming there was a "bad batch" of EGR valves wanting me to purchase a new one from them. -- something I later learned was inaccurate after further research. The EGR valve's small gap when unpowered is actually normal until the ECU calibrates it under operation. In total, I spent around $5,000, went through two new EGR valves, and received my truck back with the same codes it originally had. I was even charged for multiple tanks of fuel used during their extensive driving done after hours and on weekends. As it seemed using my truck as a personal vehicle. In the end, the true fix turned out to be the new mass airflow sensor -- not the additional parts or labor they insisted upon. While the staff were courteous, my overall experience did not reflect the honesty and transparency I expected. For those considering Dave's Diesel, I recommend reviewing other customer experiences carefully -- especially from mechanics or technically inclined customers -- before making a decision. read more

TLDR: Their mechanic totaled my vehicle. I brought my vehicle to Dave's Auto for an $18,600 engine repair. While it was in their possession, their mechanic crashed it, causing significant damage and airbag deployment. Dave's did not notify me of the collision -- I found out from the American Fork Police Department. I had to repeatedly reach out to get basic information about what happened. When I requested a reasonable reduction in my repair bill given that their employee caused the crash, I was offered only a few hundred dollars. When I raised concerns about diminished value and accountability, I was met with resistance rather than ownership. The vehicle was ultimately declared a total loss by insurance. Daves Auto Center is not a business that should be considered if your wanting good service, I purchaased several items from the parts department on Novembewr 18th, 2025 and its January 10th, 2026 and I still have not recieved my order #DAC-23191. I have called the parts department several times with no luck, I do get a generic responce on email from Colt, the parts manager that states the parts are late, the parts are shipping soon, the parts have arrived and a tracking # will be sent my way soon, all with no delivery. I am very disapointed in the service and I have other choices of businesses to spend my money, I certainly will never deal with this business again, even if I do end up getting my oreder. Amazing detailed reports with photos and video as proof as they continued to work on my old 1991 W250 Dodge Cummins. They even steam cleaned the engine and underbody, all this in 6 hours. I would give this company zero stars if that were an option. I sent them a 5.4L Ford engine for teardown in November 2024 and paid $1,000 upfront for the service, along with $1,166.66 in freight to cover shipping both ways. Despite sending payment immediately, it took until February 2025 for them to provide a teardown report--which confirmed that the cylinder heads were in good condition. Based on that report, I authorized them to proceed with remanufacturing the engine, at a quoted cost of $6,500. I paid over $4,300 in April. After that, communication from them was practically nonexistent. I had to reach out multiple times just to get updates. When I was finally told the engine was ready to ship, I was then informed of a delay due to issues with the cylinder heads--despite those being previously deemed "good." I was told they were addressing the issue and the engine would ship the following week. That week came and went, with no shipment. While on hold with them, I received a surprise "updated" invoice that included an additional $1,100 charge for the heads. When I questioned it, their response was essentially, "Our bad--we should have communicated that." When I asked why a remanufactured engine didn't include heads, they claimed that their rebuilds don't come with them--despite a brand-new Ford reman engine costing only $4,600 with heads included. I eventually spoke with the co-owner, who made it sound like they were doing me a favor just by completing the engine. I requested a refund (over $6,000 at this point) and told them they could keep the engine. He flat-out refused and said it was "his way or the highway," making it clear they had no intention of issuing a refund and that I'd need to pay even more if I wanted the engine shipped. This has been the worst business experience I've had in over 10 years of owning a mechanic shop. This company is completely unprofessional, dishonest, and uncommunicative. They only respond when you chase them down--and even then, their attitude is rude and dismissive. They care far more about getting your money than they do about delivering quality service or honoring their word. Avoid this company at all costs. read more

For the online presence that Dave wants to have, the actual car work that happens at this shop is abhorrent. Took my truck in for an intermittent check engine light. I already knew the codes and did some basic diagnostics on it. I provided what I had found when I took it in to Dave's. The price for a diagnostic at this shop is incredibly high, especially for the quality. Their definition of diagnostic was 'clear the code and see if it comes on again, and if it doesn't we won't check further and charge the customer.' They told me because it was intermittent they thought it was the spark plugs and were going to charge upwards of $1500 for spark plug replacement on my Tacoma smh. I did the swap myself, didn't fix the issue, and turns out I have blown head gasket... which I ended up diagnosing myself because shops like this just don't want to do good work anymore. If I could, I would give them -10 stars. Very rude and disrespectful mechanic! I was having issues with my insurance communicating with the shop so my truck was sitting at their shop for a few weeks, and ultimately I chose to pick it up. When I arrived, I had a tow trailer and had it parked on the side of their drive way, enough room to get through for other vehicles. I had everything ready to go to load up my truck, but I asked one of their younger mechanics to assist me while I drive it up the ramp to ensure it was aligned on top of the trailer. I'm guessing it was their head mechanic or whoever it was that day, but he came storming out of the shop and asked his coworker what he was doing, and the younger mechanic told him, and he came up to me yelling I needed to get my trailer off the property and to park it on the main street and that I needed to load it up myself, and to get my shit off the property. This is one of the most difficult businesses there is to run. The amount of knowledge and continuing eduction required is immense. Communicating with customers is difficult because you are speaking a different and sometimes complex language. There are more often than not latent and concealed defects that are discovered during the course of repairs. They treated me unfairly. The owner buffed up at me (a 120 lb woman) and intimidated me into paying $4000 after being quoted $500. They made me cry and we're not ever transparent with their prices- couldn't tell me how many hours the job took or what rate they were charging me... but they couldn't have spent more than 10 hrs and charged $3100 in labor... so that's $310/hr... if I knew that was their rate then I would not have gone to them because I can't afford that. ***DOES NOT HAVE MERCEDES PROPRIETARY SOFTWARE*** Dave's Automotive is unable to fix major engine/electronic problems on Sprinter vans due to their not having the proprietary software that only Mercedes dealerships/service centers have. They claim they could "contract out" the software portion of their diagnosis/repair (requiring the vehicle to be towed to a Mercedes service center at the expense of the client, as explained to me by the service manager), but why would anyone do that when there is probably the top Sprinter service center in the country a half hour away? Unfortunately I was forced by my insurance company to tow my sprinter to the closest "Mercedes" service center or pay the additional mileage to my "preferred service center" ($300). After arguing with the insurance representative that Dave's was not an "authorized" Mercedes service center, that I've been through this before, that they may say on their website that they can fix Sprinters, but if they don't have the proprietary software, they won't be able to fix (in house) the nature of my van's repair. I put the insurance representative on hold and called Dave's Automotive and spoke to their representative who assured me that they "could fix anything on a Sprinter" despite the fact that I informed him that I knew they did not have the proprietary software, he told me they had "work-arounds". I agreed to have the vehicle towed to Dave's at the insurance company's expense on the afternoon of Wednesday 2/18/25. The following morning they started the diagnosis charging me $434.26. By 5:00 pm they told me that they had fixed the problem after test driving the van. We got in the van to drive it away and it once again wouldn't start. After spending another night in their lot, they spent five hours and another $123.28 "diagnosing the problem" again only to tell me at 2:00pm that I needed to tow the van to a Mercedes dealership/service center to get the van diagnosed and repaired by an authorized Mercedes service center because they did not have the proprietary software. I demanded they refund what I paid them and they refused. Two and a half days and $557.54 in "diagnostic fees" later the insurance company paid to tow the van to the Mercedes Sprinter dealership/service center I wanted to send it to in the first place, who on Friday 2/21/25, diagnosed the actual problem within 2 hours, ordered all the parts that arrived the next morning (Saturday) and worked until after closing to get us back on the road. And to add insult to injury, Daves Automotive threatened to sue me if I wrote a bad review. This place is scam and will take advantage of you! I brought my 1978 dodge w150 in for an engine rebuild. They quoted me $10,000 to $13,000. I had to pay a $450 diagnostic fee even though I knew what I wanted. They said it was required to even get started. After weeks of waiting for the diagnostic and the final bid, I had to call to only find out they diagnosed it with a blown head gasket. I already knew this and even told them when I dropped it off. Then I asked about a crate engine swap instead of a rebuild, they said they'd try to source a crate engine. After many more weeks of waiting, I called to find out if they had found any crate engine. They told me they don't do engine swaps, they only do engine re-builds. Then they told me the engine rebuild would now cost me $17,000 to $20,000. When I declined the service and went to get the truck, it hadn't moved since we dropped it off. The cover was still on it. They didn't even diagnose it, they just told me what I told them regarding the head gasket. I paid $450 just to get the run-around. read more

The same thing happen to us we left our truck on 11/14/22 We got charged $250.00 just for a diagnostic a week later we got charged $1700.00 for an Airbag Clock Spring and came back and said that was not the problem. It was the truck computer ECU Electronic Control Unit they wanted $5000.00. We ended up paying 3,200.00 out of pocket and got our truck 1 month after and it's worse than when we took it in. I was in contact with Miles time who indicated to be the Manager but after I learned he was the owner. It looks like he's the only person you will speak to because he knows the tricks on how to talk people into authorizing repairs for more money. He's been doing this for too many years. Dave extorted me (currently filing a claim with the better business bureau and small claims court) and I had to get the police involved before he would release my car to get towed to another shop because his team couldn't fix the problem. He told me that the Mercedes service department had closed indefinitely (a lie confirmed by several other mechanics in the area) and that he couldn't get the part but that I had to either pay him a $2,000 deposit or he would impound my car. Hang on to your A$$ !!! My truck threw a code in southern Idaho on our way back to Utah on a Sunday. We made it to Daves Auto Center and left the truck in the parking lot. I called Monday morning and talked to the mechanic. I explained to him that I had learned that 99% of the issues that my truck was having was due to the #6 injector pigtail, so lets start there. He took the truck in for diagnostics. He then told me that it was either the pigtail or the injector and charged me $230 for that. He then did a compression test and charged another $600 for that. He then sent me an estimate to fix the truck of $4,000.00 to fix the one injector, but since we are in that far maybe I should change all 8 injectors for $12,000.00. I told him that I wasn't going to pay that and to put the truck outside, and I will come get it. I asked him not to reassemble the truck. He then sent me another bill for $537 to reassemble the truck and put it outside. I got the truck to my local shop and they charged me $300 to fix the truck. 1 hour labor plus parts. Bought new piston and brought to the shop 2 days later just to find that the cost is now $150 for ONE cylinder (at first they said $200). Lousy customer service !!! read more

Dave's Auto Center in Centerville is dishonest, baits and switches and then holds you hostage to their overpricing. I took my VW Passat to them with an intermittent Air Conditioning Issue. I generally repair my own cars, but with A/C issues, I don't have a way to evacuate the refrigerant and have to go to a mechanic. I looked for an honest shop that would be cheaper than going to the dealer, but still does a good job. That wasn't Dave's Auto Center! I spoke with Mike at Dave's Auto Center and he quoted me $90 to diagnose the A/C issue. I left my car there and received a text with their initial diagnosis. Of course, they went digging for other problems first. They said that I had a "rattle" and the "Service Now" message was on, oh and yes, the A/C didn't blow cold right away. After talking with Mike, he tried to talk to me into tearing up the engine to chase after the "rattle", which he said was probably a "timing chain" issue. I have never heard this rattle and luckily told them to not work on the "rattle". I could just hear the cha..ching of their cash register on that one. But hey, most mechanics and dealers always give it the once over to pad their pockets, so this was somewhat expected. Then Mike tried to make the Service Now message on the dash to be more than it was, a service interval reminder. Mike said but it does say "Service NOW!". I knew better and had already ordered the oil filter and oil to service my own car. Again, I declined the cha...ching. Finally, Mike said, yes the A/C was not cooling down right away and it might be an electrical problem. I was acting on good faith that they knew what they were doing and let Mike talk me into $280 to diagnose the system further. I should have said no at that point, but agreed to let them go ahead. I had done some research on the internet and already had a suspicion that it was a faulting A/C pressure solenoid. This seems to be a common issue with VW A/C compressors. The fix is actually quite cheap...a new $25 pressure solenoid, but requires removing all the refrigerant to replace the part and then recharging. At the onset I had told Mike, this was the likely problem. After waiting all day without a call, I finally called at 5:00 PM to ask what was going on. After "accidentally" hanging up on me, Mike called me back and said they were still working on the diagnosis...really, all day long? (probably put it on the rack at 4:30 PM) Mike put me on hold and came back 10 min later. He said the A/C Pressure Solenoid was bad, which is what I told them in the first place, and they would have to replace the compressor. Mike said it would be an additional $1400 to replace the compressor, bringing the total bill to $1800. He said this was a good price and that they had got a great price on the compressor. He then said, "Those German Cars are Expensive to work on"...nice excuse. At that point I was beginning to feel like I was getting taken advantage of. So I told Mike to wait and I was going to do a price check. I call a local VW Dealer and asked for a price to replace a compressor. He said it would cast $1250, but subtract $150 core charge if it was the original VW compressor, which mine was. So total out the door was going to be $1100...$300 cheaper than Dave's Auto Center. Since when is a local repair shop charge significantly more than a dealer? I was feeling very taken advantage of! I called them back and said I would come pick up my car and take it to the dealer. Mike started to back track and asked for a chance to match their price. At this point I was furious and had no trust that they would do anything right. Not to mention I started reading more reviews online about other customers getting overcharged and bait and switched. It was now 5:30 PM at which they were closing and Mike said they would have to put my car back together in the morning. (what do you tear apart to diagnose an A/C?...they really had no clue on how to work on a VW). As I picked up the car the next morning, paying $423 for the ridiculous diagnostic fee, I told Mike, he should have just listened to me in the first place and replace the A/C Pressure Solenoid. He said they haven't had much luck doing that... YEAH RIGHT??? Seems there are plenty of people on the internet where this has worked and added many years to the a/c compressor. I would not recommend Dave's Auto Center to anyone. They use bait and switch...$90 to $280 to diagnose and A/C. They dig for other problems that don't exist such as my supposed "rattle" and then intimidate...it says "Service NOW!" They are dishonest and charge more than a dealer. Over $1400 later the problem was just that it was in first gear not drive which caused it to stall. read more

Our car broke down on the freeway, and our car insurance didn't cover to have it towed always the back to our regular repairman. Dave's was recommended to us by a family member so we had it towed there. They said they had to charge us to get into the transmission which we agreed to pay, but then they told us that it would be $720 to get the transmission cleaned out and new filter for transmission. That seemed high to me so we called our local guy, and he said he could do it for $180. I couldn't believe the price difference so I called Dave's to let him know. They said they wanted to see the bid in writing so after quite a bit of hassle and communicating with both businesses, we got the bid sent over. The guy at Dave's complained that the bid wasn't specific enough and wouldn't come down on the price. I then called the Lexus dealership (our Lexus is 20 years old), and he said, "Look, I'm trying here, but I don't see how I could go over $400- maybe, maybe $500 for the transmission service, but $720? No." This was coming from a Lexus dealership. (In my experience, dealerships charge more than your local ma and pop shop.) I called Dave's, but they would not budge on the price. I couldn't help but wonder if they knew we were in a tough spot and were taking advantage of it. In the end, we paid $225 to have it towed down to Utah County. We paid Dave's Auto $230 to open up our car and put it back together again unrepaired. We paid our local guy $200 to do the work that Dave's said would be $730. Our local guy charged us less than Dave's AND got the car repaired. I imagine if money is no problem for you, Dave's wouldn't be a bad option. read more

I took my Range Rover to Dave's auto because it was displaying an error with the diesel exhaust system. Their customer service was pleasant but the work they did on my rover was 1) highly over-priced and worst, 2) it did not fix the problem. I took my rover 2 x and kept getting the same error message over and over. I paid over $4K dollars and nothing. It was overpriced and had no delivery since the problem continued. Based on my experience with them, they are not specialists in foreign cars so be careful in using their services. I ended up taking my rover to the dealer and had to pay over again. What a horrible experience, I brought my jag for them to check and diagnose an engine light, this guys couldn't diagnose the engine light, they needed to do a $1000.00 engine compression check just to see if the coils or the spark plugs needed changing !!!!! When I refuse tge extra egine test , the manager became insulting, ugly and told me they couldn't help me. this manager has no idea how to treat clients, he is rude, angry and plain nasty. perhaps it was the fact that I am a lady and he thought he could do whatever he wanted ir Say whatever he wanted that I was ignorant in regards to cars. Took 250 dollars from me and did absolutely nothing . Tge engine test they did I got for free at a parts store I already knew the engine was misfiring !!! It's obvious having grown up in the community that Dave's is here to stay. The only other competitor in business as long is Ray's. All the other shops have been re-branded re-managed or just closed. A solid sign of a great local family run business is the fact it is still around! It is super easy to get to look for the lit palm trees :) Service; oh my lord talk about nothing but honest mechanics in the shop. It's a tight knit group of the friendliest mechanics who take pride in their work. What I loved about my repair experience was the philosophy of the business. Cars are like medical patients, sure another shop in town might write a prescription or worse dig into an issue without diagnosing the symptoms. It's kinda funny these people are mad about the 'price constantly changing'. I think they are use to shady shops or don't know the cost of responsible ownership. I cannot believe this man is still in business! I wish we would have read the reviews first but were referred by someone. He made repairs he did not have authorization to do after 4200 dollars in supposed repairs my husband drives off his lot with the engine light on and a broken air conditioner that worked perfectly before hand. When he took the car back Dave claimed another 5400 in repairs. My husband said I'm picking it up for a second opinion. Dave said well you me 1700 in repairs. We said those repairs were not authorized. I called him for proof of authorization of those repairs since the previous two repairs were confirmed via signature. He proceeded to spout off laws he does not understand then proceeded to send us a voice recording of the "authorization." Which was just him spouting off numbers that did not add up to his claims and their was no authorization. Sounds like he tries to bully people with this BS because they do not know better. The law clearly states it must be a transcript or copy of explained repairs to consumer and authorized. He is now holding our car hostage for CASH ONLY payment of 1700 and charging us 40 dollars a day for impound that is on his lot. We are filing a civil suit but looking at all these reviews I wouldn't be surprised if we couldn't file a class action law suit and shut this guy down. read more

We are thrilled with everything about Dave's, including technical expertise, professionalism, fair pricing and timeliness. After unsuccessfully attempting to have the Saint George GMC dealer fix our 2500HD truck transmission issue TWICE (6 days and $1500), Thomas identified and fixed the problem in 1 1/2 days for half the price. My ram diesel had a loose injection pump that completely destroyed my engine. While waiting 3 hours for a tow truck I researched diesel repair in the SLC area. ( unfortunately I did not look at yelp. ). I wish I had. The repair would be completed in 2 weeks including some upgrades to be completed while the engine was out. I arranged a flight home and would return in 2 weeks. The vehicle was not started for 2 weeks and another 2 before it was semi completed. The vehicle runs like garbage and was told to replace the injectors for $4800. They were done 6 months prior and worked perfectly before entering this shop. I had the turbo replaced while everything was removed and charged $650 in labor for something that had to be removed and replaced as part of the engine re and re. The power steering/ brake assist system was removed and replaced. When the fluid was replaced the system was not bled. When the truck was returned to me the pump was screaming and the steering and brakes barely worked because of the air. I was told the pump was bad and they could replace it. I added fluid and worked the wheel for 20 minutes with the cap off until the air was bled. Works perfectly. I try and discuss my bill and concerns and they leave the room mid sentence. The owner of this place may be a competent engine builder but knows nothing about the surrounding systems. He also will take as much money as he possibly can with the justification he's busy and can get it. If there is no resolution I will go to my credit card company and hire someone to get accurate unpaid reviews to every site possible regarding this shop. read more

I've taken my Sprinter to Dave's twice, since they operate a website claiming to specialize in Sprinter maintenance. I will start by saying I think they are competent at the repairs and maintenance that they've done. My low score for them is based on pricing. I had them replace my fuel filter, which is an easy maintenance item on these vans. They charged $122 for the part, $150 for the labor, and an additional $10 to use the factory scan tool to reset the fuel system. This is an insane price for this. It would literally be cheaper for me to have gone to the Mercedes dealer to get this repair. Therefore, based on Dave's pricing (not their expertise or competence) that Sprinter owners should get service done elsewhere, including the dealer as it could be cheaper. read more

Dave is a horrible person! DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!! I brought my daughters car in and told them I had already taken it to the dealership and they told me I need to have cylinder 3 repaired. They told me they were going to charge me $130 diagnostic fee to see what's going on. When they called me 3 days later they told me it was the 3rd cylinder that was leaking compression!! Really No kidding!! Pretty sure I told them that when I dropped it off. So they were charging me $130 for nothing.. pretty sure they didn't even look at the car at this point. Then he calls and says we need to to a compression test and that's going to cost $400 I asked why so much? The guy Woods told me well it like going to the Dr we have to figure out what's wrong. So I figure my daughter has $600 for repairs I guess we have to get it done! Then Dave the owner calls me and tells me its going to cost $8500 to get into the engine. Not even a repair just to get into the engine!! I started crying and he was such a jerk he kept stating my name over and over and says I'm not listening to this call me back when you gather yourself and let us know what you want to do and hangs up! I text Woods and told him I did some research and a compression test shouldn't be more than $100 and a new engine is $3k with a 10 year warranty why is he charging $8500 just to look at it? He asks if I want them to continue or not? Of course not!!! So I go the next day to pick up my daughters car and he tells me cash only! CASH ONLY? I don't have cash! I have a CC. It doesn't state anywhere that it's cash only.. He states if I don't pick my car up by 5:00 with cash he's impounding my car on his lot for $40 a day. So I called the police. They come out while I talk to Dave. The police told me that they know Dave well, that they are called weekly by other suckers like me for the same reason. Except most cases are a lot more money like $8k and ends up keeping their cars because they don't have $8k in cash.. He waits until you pick up your car then he'll tell you he's only accepting cash!! That's no accident! It's his way of making more money onyou! So then I come in with what I came up with and he tells me he's not accepting my cash because it's 50 -1 bills and some 5's mostly 20's. But he won't take it and tells me I'm trespassing on his property. So I had to go to the bank to get him larger bills so that I could get my daughters car before he sabotaged it worse than he already had. read more

BEWARE!! NEVER. SET. FOOT. IN. THIS. SHOP. Avoid this shop at all costs, do not trust them. This is a very evil institution run by a very sick man. Summary: I have never had worse service. They are extremely corrupt and are only concerned with lying to you and stealing your money. Avoid them at all costs. They are not here to help you and will say anything to prolong your stay in order to keep charging you. My family and I are appalled by the service we received but have learned that the owner has a very serious mental illness which results in pathological lying and no remorse for taking advantage of clients. When Dave and his crew find someone that can be easily taken advantage of, they try their best to trick them into paying absurd amounts of money. _________________________________________________________________ My story: My sprinter stopped in Wells Nevada on the way from CA to WI. I was helped by a local mechanic to get it starting again. He said he couldn't help me fix the problem, but advised me to drive to the nearest sprinter mechanic in Utah. I found this place online and drove straight there because I couldn't turn off the vehicle; there was no guarantee it would start again and the mechanic in Nevada thought it had to do with my starter going out. I arrived an hour before they closed and I was told that they would try their best to fix it that day by Miles, the man behind the desk. I was told I would be given a ride to the nearest hotel if it would take longer. My family and I waited on the property, and after the hour and a $189 "initial fee to access the vehicle" I was told all was good! What a miracle. They had been able to start my car 12 times in a row, and the problem was due to the kill switch on my vehicle affecting its ability to start. They dismantled my kill switch wiring, and apparently, the car was working well again. There was another problem though, they told me my radiator was very messed up and they advised me not to drive my sprinter. For $2,000 they could fix the replace the radiator for me. I couldn't afford the fix, so I took the "risk" and told them I had to keep moving. They gave me my keys and we left. My family and I loaded into our vehicle and tried to start the car, but it wouldn't work. We walked to the shop but they had locked the door! We called and Miles, the man behind the desk, and he said everyone had already left. We told him our car didn't start and he said that he could at it tomorrow. I was surprised and asked about a ride to a hotel as promised when we first arrived because surely in the 3 minutes it had taken us to walk our car and find out it had not in fact been fixed, that he or the other workers there weren't far from the shop yet and could give us a ride, but no, Miles told us no one was near the shop or could help us to a hotel. I should have known then these were evil men. They had already charged me almost $200 and lied to me twice. We were left stranded and had nothing to show for the money I had given them. They took advantage of me and my family when we were most vulnerable. The next morning we arrived back and they taught us how to use a broom to start our car. We were instructed on how to bang on the starter through the top of the engine requiring us to prop open our hood each time we wanted to start the car. Alternately we could also get on the ground under the car and also try to bang the starter hard enough that the car would start after ignition. I was very frustrated and asked for our money back but they would not give me a refund. Apparently Dave the owner is very mentally ill and uses a man named Miles behind the counter to deal with clients because Miles can talk sweetly and put on a good face. Miles aids Dave in the corruption of innocent people needing their vehicles fixed. First, they charge a $189 initial fee for a check, then they find another "problem" but one that they can fix for you if you have a few thousand dollars to spare. They are incompetent in fixing vehicles and can only make money for lying to you and then miraculously fixing a problem you never had in the first place. They took my money and did not fix anything. I paid $189 for a lesson on how to use a broom on my starter. When I arrived home to my mechanic in WI, I was charged a total of $200 to flush out my radiator and patch a small crack I had, as well as $200 to replace my starter. There was nothing major wrong with my vehicle and I was lucky to not have fallen into the trap that would have cost me a few thousand dollars. When Dave and his crew find someone that can be easily taken advantage of, they try their best to trick them into paying absurd amounts of money. This is an illegal operation that I hope is shut down immediately. I feel terrible for all the people who have been taken advantage of by this very sick man.
