I have a 66 Chevelle with a 2012 Ctsv motor and I called for a simple recharge of my ac. With so much competition in this bad economy and expensive area, I guess they need the money to stay afloat. (But I cannot afford to support that!) Yes, my car fixed elsewheres for the hundreds, and working fine, with the expensive added fixes deemed highly unlikely to be necessary. I brought my 2019 Honda Accord to Dave's Auto Repair because of engine power loss and misfiring. The first visit, they told me the issue was spark plugs and a coil. They also replaced the engine air filter and cabin filter without my approval, claiming there was mold, even though I specifically asked them not to change anything unnecessary. I was charged about $700. The problem was not fixed. When I returned, instead of standing behind their previous diagnosis, they charged me again, this time about $900 to add head gasket sealant and additional labor. They charged $350 in labor just to pour sealant into the radiator, which is excessive. After spending a total of about $1,600, the original problem is still unresolved. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I had already explained the full history of the vehicle and previous diagnostic inaccuracies, but this was ignored.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They relied entirely on the scan tool instead of listening to the customer or properly investigating the root cause. [[HIGHLIGHT]]To make matters worse, when I returned to discuss the unresolved issue, I was treated unprofessionally and was told they would not work on my car anymore.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Instead of taking responsibility for incorrect diagnoses, they continued charging for trial-and-error repairs without results. I understand troubleshooting is a process, but charging large amounts for incorrect fixes without resolving the problem or offering accountability is unacceptable. They did mention a few things that might need attention, filed for future reference. da Work: Fast Forward 6 months and after some driving, I noticed some things that worried me safety-wise, for comparison I had the dealer take a look and the quote was about 50% higher than what Lisa had quoted me, so back to Dave's for more. A fair amount of work for a 2000 Explorer with 275K miles and a blue book of maybe 6K? But I'm nostalgic about my 1st new truck, so I'll keep her going as long as I can. The starter motor in Hooptie, our 1998 Toyota pick up truck, was feebing out. Hubby called and spoke with Lisa. She was remarkably knowledgeable about any possible problems with the starter and suggested that it may only need new solenoid contacts, which would have saved beaucoup bucks. We made arrangements to have it towed to Dave's Auto Repair. After an initial inspection, it was determined that the starter was beyond repair. Lisa also noted that the battery was old and weak which could lead to problems with the starter. They did a complete inspection on the truck and also found the bushings holding the steering rack were failing. At first it was thought just the bushings could be replaced but it turned out that the rack and bushings were meant to to be replaced as a unit. It took a few days for the necessary part to come in. We were not charged for the additional labor to install the new rack (as opposed to just installing the bushings). They did their magic and two days later, Hooptie was ready to come home. While driving, we noticed a slight occasional tightness when turning the steering wheel. We called Lisa and she said to bring the truck back. They made a quick adjustment and all was right with it again. As a retired heavy equipment operator and a skilled mechanic, my husband was impressed by Lisa's knowledge and integrity in dealing with the truck. We would not hesitate to bring our vehicles to them again. read more

Highly recommended. My daughter's Acura broke down at night a few days before Thanksgiving, and we had it towed to their lot. We don't live in the area, but took a chance on Dave's Auto. It was some time before we were able to deal with the car issue, and Lisa graciously allowed it to sit there until then- (I didn't have time to drop the key off for several days). She explained to us what procedures/tests they needed to run for diagnosis, and what the possible causes(and costs) could be. She was transparent, friendly but professional- gave me a rundown of what the car needed, and offered me the options. She was able to put in a new alternator, throw in some other minor fixes, and service it in 1 day. Fast communication, honest service, decent prices, reliable work.
