I felt like I had to make a quick memo about my review after I came here and was told my engine was fine and was reassured . I went to another mechanic since my check engine light was flashing mostly when accelerating or going uphill , which I told this owner of this shop that and he assured me he scanned my engine and nothing came up I was happy to hear of course - Long story short I ended up having a misfire and 2 of my cylinders were out I am glad I went to the other shop to get a second opinion which means I have been driving around like this for 5 months which disappointed me . It's 2:20pm on Tuesday, November 23, 2022. The door is rolled down, no signs about special holiday hours. I've been happy with their work in the past few years and was hoping to drop in today for a simple, easy, fast task. Replacing one headlight bulb, the hard one to access in a Prius. I have the bulb with me. There's a YouTube vid where the guy does one bulb and then says, for the other one you'll want to ask your mechanic or oil change person. I scheduled a timing belt/water pump replacement. Eric quoted a price much lower than other shops. i dropped off the vehicle at 9am and requested if he could also install the hood struts that had. He called about 4 and stated vehicle was ready. When I showed up, he told me that I needed other services, which I already knew about. When I paid, he didnt charge to install the hood struts. He also showed me the replaced parts, and showed that the waterpump was leaking already. Definitely will be bringing my other vehicles for him to work on. read more

My check engine light came on during my drive home from work. Eric immediately checked codes and diagnosed it as faulty oxygen sensor that measures mixture. He indicated this sensor should be addressed immediately and gave me a quote. He took the car and ordered the part. When I picked up the car he was under the quote and the car has never run smoother. I called to make an appointment since this shop is really busy. I bring the car in 1 week later, they don't seem to remember me making the appointment but they took my car, I had to be there as soon as they opened. Later in the day they called me to come pick up my car and I paid cash. The issue seems to be fixed but it wasnt when i try driving the car the next day, the issue hasn't been fixed so I brought the car back and they seem like they didn't want to fix my car and told me to come back in another week. I've never came back as I didn't want to botther them. If you know what needs to he done, I believe they are efficient based on the reviews. If you need a diagnoses and repair that is not common, I wouldn't recommend them based on my experience. read more

Now in hindsight after many decades coming here for service, I can reveal the following facts: 1. Tai (aka Eric) will give you an amazing price if you're new. 2. He likes to be boss, so his strategy to get respect from you is to tell you to come back as if he's super busy. He's actually never really busy. 3. One time he DID NOT bleed the brake fluid after a new rotor / new pads job. This I found out only having to come back with soggy feeling brakes and paying him to for a proper bleed job! 4. He got me to pay $700 to replace all six ignition coils when he diagnosed only one failure -- AND replaced it in less than a minute to give me a ride back home in the same vehicle! 5. Overcharged me for simple tranny fluid drain & gasket replacement because he thought he got me by the balls. My records reveal I got suckered. Now I'm very glad I will NEVER have to come back here because I'm now leasing an ELECTRIC VEHICLE. Woohooo! read more

A mechanic you can trust!!! Eric the owner is honest and thorough with his job. In today's world finding an honest mechanic is like finding a needle in a haystack but I've found one in El Sobrante after a recommendation from one of my gym buddies. My F150 2001 5.4L V8 118000miles had a rattling sound needed new spark plugs and rear breaks. It also had a transmission leak and I asked him to check on it. When it was all done for a fair price, he told me the transmission leak was due to over tightening of the transmission pan that lead to the gasket being cringed and told me I should take it back to the place where they changed my transmission oil and gasket. So I took his advice and the previous service center changed the gasket at no cost. Eric also showed me what he did to resolve the rattling sound which was from a heat shield and kept my old rotors and break pads to show me their condition. The work and bill was explained well upon receiving my truck. Thanks Eric for you honesty and good work. read more

Just picked my car up from here. My car was sputtering and stalling while driving with the check engine light flashing. This has happened before, twice and costed me $400 - $600 to alleviate. I dropped my car off yesterday, and received a call a few hours later saying that my #1 spark plug was bent and that he needed to replace w/ OEM spark plugs which are expensive. It's funny because when I was talking to Tai when I picked my car up, he asked me what the other two places did, and I honestly could not answer him (it was a while ago, but still). So $140 out the door and new spark plugs...I feel like my car is running like new again, literally. Better than it has ran since I took it to the other shops I went to. Pretty excited. Will definitely be coming back if I need anymore service on my car (hopefully I won't though). read more

I took my car here for an oil change, tire rotation, fluid/air top off and was in and out within 30 minutes. Tai was great about doing the work, and it was very reasonably priced. Tai came thru for me again. I have had smoke billowing out of the front right of my engine for 6 months and another mechanic I went to said he couldn't find anything wrong. He only needed to drive it for 10 minutes to find where the smoke comes from, but unless I know where it's coming from he can't diagnose it. I got it to T&D auto on Monday morning. He immediately put it up and based on where I told him the smoke was coming from he found I had a broken seal going to my oil filter and oil was leaking out (slowly) and accumulating on my engine guard, hence soothing on the floor of my garage. Then when the engine hit got it would boil and smoke. People were even pulling up to me at lights and telling me my car was smoking. I told them I knew. Tai ordered a replacement part and cleaned up the existing spillage. 3 hours later I have my car and NO SMOKE. I have not been able to use external air for over 6 months because of the smell. Tai did not treat me as a silly person with a non important repair. Tai is the best & honest. The entire job cost $78 and he wanted me to check back in a week and report on the status.
