We then traveled down the beach until we found a parking lot attended by an attendant. Once we returned home from the beach, we had 2 charges on our credit card from La Playa for $20.00 each. We tried many, many times to reach customer service for La Playa - only to receive the same message: " This number can not be reached at this time". The total $40.00 charge posted this morning, and we are in dispute with La Playa through our bank. If Ft. Myers Beach wants to heal after hurricane Ian - this criminal merchant will not help. Beware.

However after Hurricane Ian this Pier has been boarded off from being accessed. No mention of what the status is with it coming back or anything my fear is they likely won't be and that's because some restaurants were effected by the Hurricane Ian as well and being sold to have something else built also they're focusing more on stuff to catering tourists than anglers. I'm sure there is debris in the water by the Pier as well so that's possibly another reason.

Only about six feet wide, there's enough room for people on both sides if the fishermen and fisherwomen alternate and when I was here, they were doing that. There is one on the "mainland" side and another on the Fort Myers Beach side. I was on the mainland side today where I found a small free parking lot. The pier is not handicapped accessible as there are a few tall steps to get up to it. A few folks were catching but most were not. There's lots of seating and even some separate rooms to read or do work in. There is a third floor with a coffee shop and book store that both weren't open when I visited. The library itself is beautiful! Murals, art, shells, and history of Fort Myers is all over the library. This is definitely the better library in SWFL, certainly worth taking a drive out for.

Unfortunately, due to debris along Estero, the walkway was covered by storm debris, making it dangerous to walk. Therefore, we thought it was okay to walk through the parking lot of the Riveria Club, again due to safety concerns for three senior citizens. As I was walking through the parking lot of the Rivera Club, where there were no vehicles parked, I passed a man pushing a luggage cart, smiled, and said hello. He then verbally accosted me pointing to the path along Estero. I continued smiling and tried to explain the danger on Estero. His response too me was, "We have enough trouble here. I'm the Vice President!" I just walked away. I am a doctor and am traveling with another doctor and a Colonel. We know how to behave ourselves. These are extenuating circumstances. This Vice President needs to build good will.
