Dave's Fences just completed replacing +140' of stockade fence with new stockade fence, and 450 feet of old deer fencing with new chain link fence to keep the deer out and the dogs in. This was not an easy job since there was much brush and overgrowth they had to work through, and they did so carefully, trying not to damage any trees/shrubs. They arrived promptly at 8 AM every day and worked quietly in the yard. Workers were pleasant and polite. They cleaned up everything they had to remove and checked with us to make sure we were satisfied before we left. They were the least expensive of 3 bids we got for the job. They say that bad customer service can damage the reputation of the best company/product. That is the case with me. While I can't comment on the actual work that they do, I can go into depth about my experience with Dave's Fences. I called on a Monday to get a quote. Thursday I get a call from a man named Terry. Terry was nice, told me that he couldn't get out to my place today, but would on Friday or Saturday and expect a call on Sat. I never heard back from them on the phone. The following Tuesday "someone" came to my home, left a business card and pamphlet. I called two days later and left a voicemail, asking for a follow up. Never heard back. Called again and left another voicemail, still nothing. Poor customer service examples that are usually considered universally unacceptable: 1. Long wait times and response times 2. Poor attention to detail 3. Company reps with lack of experience and knowledge 4. Unprofessional and impersonal interactions I would say in my experience Dave's Fences hits three (if not all) of these. It takes 20 years to build a reputation and five minutes to ruin it. If you think about that, you'll do things differently. This is especially true in today's internet world. I can't tell you how many places I avoid due to bad reviews online. We are extremely happy with our new fence. Dave had competitive pricing, is very professional and his crew got the job done exactly to our expectations. We did about 90ft of 6ft tall white pvc fencing to give us privacy in our backyard and it came out perfectly. Just had a new fence installed around my new pool and these guys were awesome. Gave me some good ideas and recommendations. Promptly sent a very reasonable and detailed proposal. Came exactly when they promised and finished the job in one day as promised as well. Fence looks excellent. Very impressed with the quality of their work as well as how careful they were to keep my yard and patio as clean as possible including removing any branches/bushes they trimmed. They came and did a fence on our yard few years back, they seemed very professional and seem to know what they are doing. The fence looked good for a while, then 2 years later, the post and attached panels started to lean. Finally, this year, I decided to call them back to take a look, they cancelled the appointment the first time. Then when I called back to reschedule, they ignored my calls and messages, and would not return my calls anymore. I finally had another fence company to take a look and they told me that those post were not set in deep enough, they were only in 3 inches deep. Not only they did a crappy work, but the fact that they won't return calls is not professional. read more

We had contacted two companies for a large fencing job. We wanted about 90 feet of a two-sided four foot aluminum fence moved, and to add about 130 feet of new aluminum fence. In addition, we wanted 6 foot bamboo (which we would purchase) to be tied on to our side of the fence, to create a Japanese look fence, that would not be unattractive to our neighbors. In the two pre-contract site visits, we talked with Dave about the best way to install the fence, and we felt that he would be the most involved, and the he had the best sense as to what we wanted. The job took 2 1/2 days. We were amazed at how quickly they dug up the posts for the old fence, and cleared the concrete, and also how quickly they installed the new fence. There were a lot of tree roots along the area with the fencing, and they were very careful to hand dig everything, and to make the fence section a bit shorter if needed to avoid a root. In addition, they did a superb job attaching the bamboo, which took longer than the actual fence installation, and we discussed the best way to attach it and the best way for it to look. Dave and his brother were there for the beginning of the job. His brother was there for the pole digging (which was deep and had concrete down for two feet). In addition, we were most impressed by Manuel, who was the foreman for the job. He was both knowledgeable and creative. He and his team left the job broom clean each day, and they neatly stacked the extra bamboo where we wanted it. We were very impressed by the professionalism and workmanship, as well as the final product. We would strongly recommend Dave for your fencing needs. read more
