Worst experience I've ever had. Spoke with a representative on Friday to get a quote for new gutters for the house. The representative took all the information and scheduled an appointment for Tuesday morning. On Monday I received a text asking me about the skylight(???). I didn't respond. On Tuesday at 11:15 I received a call. I thought they were calling to say they were here. Instead the lady starts asking me about the roof I was getting put on(???). When I told her it was for gutters she began asking me all the same information I had given them last week. When I asked her why they were asking for information I had already given she said they had no information listed. She then tried to blame it on "AI" telling me that the AI program doesn't give appointments so that what she was trying to do. When I explained to her that I spoke to a person and they gave me an appointment for Tuesday morning, she became rude and hung up. I took off Tuesday so that I would be here for their appointment. I guess they must think they're the only gutter installation in Westchester. Clown company. Would not recommend to anyone. Zero stars. read more

Mr. Franzoso, thank you for your feedback and pictures (First time I've seen pictures). It's welcoming to see a business owner take the opportunity to review post and provide their comments and perspective. I'm sure during your 44 years of operations you've provided outstanding service and satisfied multiple customers as you stated about previous reviews of your company. My review is based on personal experience during the project and in no way suggest something wrong or illegal as defined by the term allegation. My concerns/issues always focused on communication. Regarding the multiple postings on YELP, I have since removed one of the two postings as that was done in error and in no way intended to promote my review multiple times. However, a post remains on google reviews and the reason (as I stated before) I couldn't upload pictures at the time the review was written. First and foremost, on a personal level. I ABSOLUTELY have no issue with the ethnicity of the crew performing the work. A person is a person regardless of race, creed, cultural background etc., a different mindset has no place in today's world. A communication challenge should in no way take the leap to imply an issue with one's ethnicity. How you made that assumption is mind boggling. As stated in my review under PROs, the crew was hard working and that's ALL that mattered. In addition, when the installation crew leader (Giovanni) left after addressing items needed to be resolved, I thanked him for his time & effort. Secondly, in no way shape or form did I EVER imply in posting a negative review had I had to pay for additional material to complete the project. I'm flabbergasted this was suggested in your response and without merit. I believe this was a total miscommunication on your side. I doubt Ty or Jacob would ever suggest that be the case and have no reservations for the four of us or anyone who may have suggested that be the case have an open discussion. It questions one's integrity. If this was stated in any communication I will personally apologize, but I doubt that's the case. Regarding a point you referenced, I agree with you, it can be misconstrued/misleading my project went from $10k to $20k even from a hypothetical perspective. To anyone who reads this post the project did NOT double in cost. Additional cost was appx 18%. For clients who utilize Mr. Franzoso, services get as much detail as possible of the scope of work to manage expectations. If possible write it down to ensure your needs are conveyed in the correct manner. At the beginning stages of the project, I was informed replacement rafters would be required and had no issue as it was essential to work being completed (As I was on the roof with the crew). Since I did acknowledge the additional material, I knew additional cost would be incurred recognizing full intention to pay. As previously stated, I never had the opportunity to discuss the final invoice prior to the invoice being submitted to the finance company as I made multiple request. I'm sure customers (yourself included) would want to review cost with a contractor prior to being issued an invoice for payment. I'm not here to dictate your pricing model based on overhead. As I continue to echo, the issue wasn't with cost. It's without communicating the potential cost which may have created a financial burden, and yes, I was shocked. This reverts back to my concerns with communication. My review noted the missing or gaps of 1x6 boards and had no issue with the replacement of the rafters. The concern was not knowing the cost of the rafters prior to project being completed. In addition, understanding standard size of material may change YOY based on code/building requirements, this does not mean the end product should NOT be replaced in the manner expected even if additional cost would have been incurred. Regarding the focus to keep cost down, of course that was the intention, but not at cost of the quality of the end result. Regarding my onsite comment, as I was onsite during the project I was not overseeing each step of the work being performed. After all I'm not an expert roofer. Upon project's completion, I did a complete walk around (by myself) that's when my concerns were brought to Ty & Jacob's attention immediately. With-in a few days Jacob and I met for the first time and acknowledged the issues which needed to be addressed. As noted in your response you reviewed the emails and text messages with Ty & Jacob, you can see I did send emails to communicate as feasibly possible. Mr. Franzoso, at the end of the day the result wasn't what I expected. A learning experience for all. Believe me I find no pleasure writing a sub-par review. Professional from beginning to end... Scope of work included a new sliding patio door and a window replacement above our front door. Glenn came and - after listening to us - explained in knowledgeable detail all our options. All questions answered to our satisfaction we made a comfortable decision and received what we felt was a fair proposal. Work began within a week of the estimated start date. After 20 years under an original roof, we selected Mark Franzoso' Franzoso Contracting for a 3600 square foot roofing job using Owens Corning TruDefinition Duration Shingles. We had used Franzoso a few years ago for a minor skylight leak problem. We considered three roofers. We chose Franzoso based on quality of people we spoke with, community reputation, and importantly Franzoso operates year round. Other roofers we considered with a lower price Winter in Florida that would leave us little recourse if something were to go wrong. Franzoso's Roofers are employees we are told...not 1099 contractors. The crew of four started on time, worked tirelessly for four days straight, cleaned up at the end of each day, and did a thorough cleanup including all loose nails when the job was done. Dumpster was promptly removed at the end of the job late on a Friday afternoon...much appreciated. We worked with Owner Mark Franzoso, Jack and Mark Sackerson in Sales, Production Manager Peter, Project Manager Jacob, and Kelly in administration. All were responsive. A final walk-through attended to some small details so we were completely satisfied before final payment. We recommend Franzoso Contracting. read more

The work was completed on-time, the crew was excellently-managed by Luis (who is an artist in fashioning custom trim pieces), they showed up every day (weather-permitting), worked diligently, cleaned up after themselves each day, and the supervisor (Patricio), who came frequently to check on the job progress was immediately responsive to any questions or concerns, both in person and via e-mail. Very deceptive. The original proposal for a small job was $2,200 yet they tacked $568 on the final price claiming to have used "good" plywood. They arranged all their equipment and did all their work on my neighbor's front lawn, not ours; our neighbors are now upset with us. Franzoso worked right under their home office and flattened their budding spring bulbs. We were going to use them for another job, but now will find someone else. They even charged us tax when it said in bold that it was a capitol improvement and not subject to tax. How can people like this be trusted? read more

They came to look at doing a new gutter installation. About 170 lineal feet total. I wanted stainless steel mounting screws to be used. Representative said they don't use stainless steel. I said I will supply the stainless hardware. He declined. That was the end of our discussion. Seems the rep was not really interested in doing any business. read more

I moved to Croton on Hudson in October. I do my best to support local businesses and I am glad I did with Fransozo! In the short time I've been here they have already replaced my roof, gutters, and 18 windows. Now my 1930's tudor home is looking top notch and way more energy efficient. It has been the smoothest process working with them compared to other contractors I've hired in the past. I don't have any concerns about their craftsmanship. Mark Franzoso and I started our businesses about the same time some 40years ago! I have great memories of chatting with him at the local roofing and siding supply in Ossining. Mark always had a great attitude towards life and towards creating a good experience for his clients. Both he and I shared the same work ethic, we would work in all kinds of weather to keep forward movement and the project rolling, and our client satisfied! His crew is currently on one of my projects in Pleasantville. His company was hired by my client prior to our arrival. We have been coordinating his team with mine for the greater good of our mutual client. His team has a few odds and ends to finish up the project and I am happy to say they are here, as they said, in the rain, providing the service they said they would provide. Our client and myself did not expect the crew to be here, however they ARE! The work is very well done, his team is tops on communication and all are very respectful and easy to work with... Mark is right when he says "You never get a second chance at a first impression". My impression was a long time ago, and it still lives on!!!! As a follow-up to my first review: A few weeks ago, I needed repair work done on my garage door frame (see some of my other reviews). I telephoned a few companies but was disappointed. Finally, I called Franzoso to see if they could do the work. The ever-professional, polite office administrator, informed me that Franzoso does not do that kind of work but referred me to someone they use from time to time. Their referral (Ronny with The Honest Handyman Co) arrived promptly and did the work meticulously and at a very fair price. Got a quote of ~ $14K for removal of old roof and installation of a new roof (new gutters $1.5K more) but went with another certified GAF installer, Perry Verrone Roofing who charged $10K new gutters included. There was another non GAF roofer who quoted me $10.5K. No glaring difference between both companies' estimates (eg., GAF Ultra Lifetime Timberline shingles, GAF One and Snow barrier 6' up, GAF TimberTex hip and ridge Architectural shingles, GAF Ridge vent, GAF Systems Plus warranty...etc.) so I went with the more reasonable quote, Perry's Roofing. I also recommended Perry's company to my neighbor after he got an estimate from Franzoso. Again, Perry's was 1/3 less. All the work was done in 1.5 days. Franzoso wil argue that the workmanship is vastly different. It may be and time will tell but after several years, there have been no issues. In fact, in our neighborhood, my neighbor's roof and mine are the last to have snow melted off which means our houses are not losing heat. We have not experienced any ice dams on the gutters during the past really cold winters - a good indication that the 6' ice barriers installed are working. Remember, the cost of all those local TV Franzoso commercials (one has Mark in front of his home wearing dated, ill-fitting pleated khakis) and print ads are coming from somewhere - your pocketbook. Their marketing budget is incorporated in your estimate/bill. Liike Burt's Bees with its vast products, I think Franzoso is more of a marketer; trying to sell products and services that one may not need like their Roof Shampoo, Polar Vortex steamer, Solar Panel Washing maintenance program...etc. Ask any tradesman who have no vested interest so will be more truthful on whether or not a roof needs these services. The more someone walks on roof shingles, it reduces the lifespan of a roof. Also, I'm sure their Solar Panels Cleaning does get panels cleaner than allowing rain to do it or than a homeowner hosing them down but is the price justified? Sunlight can still get through a little dirt so the panels are still producing a lot of electricity; to spend any money to get so little in return is wasteful. If you think Franzoso provides superior craftsmanship and a "great experience" to justify a 33% premium, by all means use him. Just know cost-effective, quality work exists. Instead of paying for his marketing budget or lining his wallet with money, I'd rather go with another GAF Installer and use the savings to do other home renovations with a reasonably-priced contractor (check with the Westchester Consumer Protection Agency to make sure a contractor is licensed and has no glaring complaints.) Avoid home-based ones. *************************************************************************** Update: 10/28/17 As you can read from Mark's self-aggrandizing response, he does not address anything about the necessity of his company's Roof Shampoo, Polar Vortex Steamer, Solar Panel Washing. Rather, he boasts of quality work and how he supports the local community so let me address them. Numbers don't lie so for argument sake, say my roof lasts only 24 years (bottom of the range) so $10K/24 = $417/year while if I had it done by Franzoso and it lasted 30 years (top end), it would be $15,500/30 = $516/year. My roof would have to deteriorate around year 20 to equal in cost to Franzoso's 30 year one but I'd still be covered under the 25 year warranty. For $5K less, I have the same GAF 25 Year Warranty and both Franzoso and Perry are GAF Master Elite Installers. I'm not questioning if he provides quality work; only if his work justifies a 33% premium. If his quality is better than other roofers, how much better? It has to be done without any roofer knowing this before their installation. Lastly, don't buy into anyone's hype. Best to ask a neighbor or friend which contractor they used and their experience with them. read more

I was worried I'd have a mess in my backyard, but when they were done I was surprised.The clean up was unbelievable, and I think they left it cleaner than when they arrived. They are very good before you pay. Once they have your money they totally ignore you. They don't return emails or phone calls. I had a door installed. I was not given any paper work for the warranty. I called and was assured it would be emailed immediately. That was two weeks ago. I'm starting to wonder if I got the door I paid for. This might be a case of fraud. When you want to sign contract, they act very fast, after that, its hard to get contact with them. Because we saw my neighbor's house done by Franzoso Contracting, we liked, so we contact them. Even the estaminet they gave us is higher than others, but we still decided to go with them. They answer and return the call very quick, and next day came do the estimate . When we decided to go with them, they came right next day do the contract. It was end of APRIL. And told us it will schedule mid June to start doing our house. Then they mess up the permit( didn't fill out the permit properly, and I have to paid the permit twice) , so have to wait they applied again. When permit approved,(it's END of JUNE) already. then they come with all kind excuses (don't have enough materials, don't have enough worker.....) They keeping postpone every month. And when you try to call them, they either don't answer or take few days to call back. It's been 4 months since we sign the contract, my house still WAITING for them to start the work. If you want your house done on time... Don't choose this company. Will update when job completed. We waited 5 months after we signed the contract , they finally finished to fix my chimney and changed siding. read more

In the fall of 2018 we started searching for a roofer for our 188 year old house. We had 3 layers of roofing which needed to come off and needed a full roof replacement. Because there were heavy rains that spring, contractors were all backed up. Franzoso sent Jack to speak to us within 2 days. He was extremely professional, knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with. He promised 5 to 6 days to complete the job, daily cleanup and guaranteed repairs to our roof until they could get a crew to us. He was a pleasure to deal with, as were the rest of the Franzoso team. We pulled this contractor off the internet and decided to go with them to put a new roof on a garage in a rental property. They sounded like pros on the phone, came out for a free estimate in a timely manner and delivered THE BEST WORK i have ever seen. They returned our calls on time, they made sure we were satisfied and took no payment until the job was done and approved by us. The roof was beautifully repaired and we received extra TLC for some of the small, unexpected problems that inevitably emerge when renovating. We decided to have some gutter and leader work done as well that was done quickly and was exceptionally well executed. While not cheap, I feel that their prices are fair when you consider the high quality of workmanship involved. ALL of their personnel, from receptionist to construction worker were of excellent quality. WE RECOMMEND THEM WITHOUT RESERVATION and plan to use them again in the future. read more

Well let's see, I can't do a review of their work but I feel I must comment on the initial contact with the sales consultant . From the beginning I felt like once he saw my house which is a one story ranch he didn't see dollar signs for the company so everything was rushed no sit down to show me samples just rattled off a list of things I'm sure I didn't want or need . He proceeded to measure the house and then left . I get an email with the proposal the next morning i thought for sure he made a mistake it was more for a 3 story colonial ridiculous . I called that morning he called me back at dinner time that night to say our work is blah blah blah then the next guy . he also said I could maybe tweak some numbers and get back to you . Well to no surprise of mine never got back to me . Well I knew they were expensive but didn't know they picked and choose who to work for . I guess they like Bedford and Ardsley people better . I have NEVER been treated so badly as as "Customer" by any other business in my life. The project manager spent nearly 10 minutes on the phone yelling at me because I wanted to cancel my contract since no one told me that it was going to tak 7-8 weeks to get the work done, I signed a contract, with Franzoso, so now I am obligated to do business with them.And after I dropped off the deposit, I was getting calls from the office with messages asking what they could do to get my business. The office didn't even know that we stopped by the office, and dropped off a deposit to begin the process. I have had issues with Franzoso before, so it is totally my fault, because I obviously did not learn my lesson. Please think twice about doing business with this company. read more

We reached out to Franzoso Contracting to fix a leaky, incorrectly pitched roof over a family room extension. After using unreliable, unreachable and incoherent fly-by-night contractors in the past to try and fix the issue, I finally reached out to Franzoso, after seeing them advertise on TV. I won't bore you with the details but suffice it to say the work was done properly, efficiently and expeditiously. From Richard Byington (the salesperson who visited us and provided the estimate), to Peter (who supervised the work), to Noor (the young lady at their office who helped with any questions I had and was always a joy to work with), to the guys who did the actual work and cleaned up everything afterwards, I have nothing but praise. I used Franzoso Contracting for a major project including a complete roof replacement down to the framing, re-siding of (3) dormers and reconstruction of a front porch. I started the project with Jack. He came to my home on two separate occasions to go over the job completely with me and provide a quote. He knew the different types of shingles and their advantages. Out of the (4) contractors we had bid on the job Franzoso was the only one to leave us with samples and brochures of the materials they would use. After we accepted their quote and signed on with them we were passed on to Jacob our project manager. He was basically the guy in charge of overseeing our job from start to finish. The roof was done in stages - they never remove more than they can safely cover if a rainstorm comes. The work was professionally and beautifully done. When there were unforseen extras that needed to be addressed (i.e. rotted/moldy plywood under the old shingles) they provided pictures of the old stuff and showed me in person as well so I could be sure it was required. They charged fairly for these extras as well and never tried to upsell. My dormers were originally blue vinyl siding that the previous owner in his brilliance decided to shingle over with cedar shake instead of removing the old siding and replacing it with new. Franzoso stripped it down to the plywood and installed new cedar shakes. As I told them, the only problem is that now my dormers look better than the rest of my house! They also tore off the roof on my front porch - plywood, 2x8's and shingles and rebuilt the whole thing. They did an excellent job on this as well. Franzoso showed up every day from the start of the job to the completion of the job. Some contractors will disappear for days on end but not Franzoso. They worked from 8am-6pm every day, including a Saturday. At the end of each day they spent a solid 30min cleaning up after themselves - there was never any stray materials (nails, shingles, etc) left around. After completion Jacob met with me at the house and went over the whole job to ensure I was satisfied. As I mentioned I had (4) contractors bid on this job and had it narrowed down to Franzoso and one other. I ultimately decided on Franzoso because they have been around a long time and appear to be a solid company that will be around for a long time to come. This is important as you want to pick a company that will be around years down the road to honor that warranty they included on the original job. A 30 year warranty is great but if the contractor that gave it isn't in business to honor it you're out of luck. Franzoso has an excellent warranty and although you can never be certain they seem like a very stable company that will be around for years to come to honor it. One other thing worth mentioning - Franzoso didn't ask for a dime up front. This was a very costly project and they were so confident in their work that they only ask to be paid in full upon completion. That alone speaks volumes. I would without a doubt recommend them to anyone looking for a good roofing or siding contractor. read more
