First time trying this location and it was great service, ordering online and going through the drive thru to pick up! The worker was very friendly and polite. The food was very good and tasty, especially the level of heat. The fries were freshly cooked, sprinkled with their seasoning and the sauce was tasty. We ordered the two tenders meal and the slider meal. The slaw and pickles were a fantastic combination with the chicken tender. After seeing so much hype about Dave's Hot Chicken I was really excited to finally try it out and I was, unfortunately, wildly disappointed. The location itself was fine, a line (but it is clearly popular) and great friendly customer service along with food coming out quick seemed like I was in for a treat. After actually settling in the try the food, it appeared I was mistaken. The spices used on the chicken (of which we tried mild bites, a hot slider, and a reaper tender) are grainy and oily and do almost nothing to add to the flavor of the chicken. The same goes for the mozz sticks. A huge fan of spice, I was most looking forward to the reaper tender (which requires signing a waiver) and it let me down bad. The best part and point of spice is that you have to thoughtfully integrate the FLAVOR of the pepper, not just go balls to the wall and try to ruin people's palates, and the reaper spice at Dave's only achieved the latter. It seems more just a gimmick rather than an attempt to make something both spicy and yummy. I will say that the fries and Dave's sauce were delicious, and the reaper ranch was probably one of the best sauces I have ever had at a fast food joint period (totally nailed capturing the flavor and spice balance). Went through drive thru for the first time, service was quick but the line was long due to the desirability. Went on a Sunday and a crowd was expected. The food was great! A fair price and the taste was something that isn't easily found at any other Chicken Joint Especially in the RGV. got the Mild Chicken Slider, no cheese. Dave's sauce and Honey on the side. Super yummy! Love the seasoning on the fries, these are genuinely the best fries I've had in awhile. RANDOM side note; grateful they're not stingy with the Pickles!! Extra points for that! read more

This was just awful. We tried it because of the hype. We were not expecting to be disappointed. I ordered Dave's #1 and my boyfriend ordered a Dave's #3. We also ordered mac and cheese. I ordered my chicken medium and my boyfriend ordered his lite mild. The combos do not come with a drink, so we had to order them separately. We paid over $35 for this. The food did not take long to come out. The first thing I tried were the fries and they were good. I had no reason to suspect everything else wouldn't be good. I then tried the chicken without the sauce. Awful. It tasted like chili powder and paprika, and nothing more. It was not spicy and it was not salty either. It tasted stale and bland. I then tried the chicken with the sauce and, although I am not a fan of sweet sauce like this, I ate the chicken with the sauce to take away the bland taste of the chicken. My boyfriend asked me to try this slider and it was not too bad, but I attribute this to it having cheese sauce and coleslaw on it. The mac and cheese was also bland. It did not taste like cheese and it had a weird texture to it. We promptly decided that we would never be back. It was also unreasonably loud inside. I felt like I was at a club. As a big fan of Hot Chicken since living in Nashville, I am glad that they opened up a Dave's location in Edinburg. Being a new location, this Dave's had some cool memorabilia decorations on the inside with friendly customer service as well. My main complaint about the location would be the tight parking. There are limited parking spaces, so when dine-in gets busy, you may be waiting a while for parking. Before placing your order, make sure to download their mobile app to receive points that can be redeemed for free food! I ordered the Dave's #3 medium spice which included 1 tender, 1 slider, and lots of fries. The tender was juicy and the breading was hot and crispy. I like how this location gives you extra Dave's sauce for free as long as you ask nicely. My main complaint about the combo meal was that the fries were a bit soggy. The seasoning was flavorful, but I prefer my fries to have a crispy texture. Each combo packs a good portion of food, so make sure to come hungry. Overall, I'm glad that they opened up a Dave's Hot Chicken in Edinburg, and I will be back to visit whenever I'm craving some hot chicken! read more

I checked out Dave's by the McAllen Convention Center and wrote it was well worth the hype...well this one off Trenton does justice to the name of Dave's Hot Chicken. I have gone a few times..drive-thru and dine-in. You always get greeted and welcomed. The menu once more is fairly simple... chicken strips with varying levels of heat. I honestly don't think there's another place that compares to the quality of the tender nor the size. That's one reason why other chicken places nearby suffer...they lower their standards. They make the portion size smaller but raise their prices. That is not Dave's ... I always recommend the slider w/ fries. The tender is plenty big enough to fill anyone's appetite. I get mine all the way... Dave's sauce, pickles, and slaw. I've tried their medium, hot, and extra hot heat levels as well. If you can't handle spice...go with the medium. Hot has a small kick to it...extra hot will definitely make you sweat a little but still dayum tasty with some honey poured over it. The fries are crispy when given to you...and have a slight season to it. They pair well with the tenders. I've only tried their mac n cheese...can't say it blew me out of the water, but still a nice side with your slider. One recommendation...please come out with some type of rewards/points program. It'll make regulars of others than just us regulars lol A definite recommendation to anyone who wants quality tenders with a love for spice! read more

Recently dined at this establishment and it is worth the money yes it may be a little pricey but the food is always fresh and hot the cleanliness is great restrooms are clean and so are tables I go here quite frequently and I never see crumbs on the tables. I watch a lot of MLB baseball games and consequently am seeing non-stop Dave's Hot Chicken commercial over and over of a guy eating chicken bites. So I finally made my first visit yesterday, Saturday June 29 in between games. What a disappointment. The chicken bites were not any where close as to what is shown in their commercial. The bites were probably 1/4 the size as to what is depicted in the commercial. this is really false advertising. I continue to have to sit through this commercial umpteen times a day and it has become quite the frustration for me. I will continue to patronize Raising Canes in the future. read more
