First time at Dave's since opening here in Louisville. The atmosphere is super cool with all of the graffiti style painting on the walls and bright colors. The chairs are that hard metal though which leads me to believe they don't want people to hang out TOO long so they can accommodate the masses. Lol. The front counter cashiers were very helpful and friendly as we took a while to figure out what we wanted and answered our questions. We decided on the Bites Flight which gave us 3 different sauce flavors on the boneless wings style chicken. The sauces were good and spicy but the Hot Honey was our favorite. Our daughter's got the sliders and the seasoning on the chicken was top notch, with just the right amount of heat but a very distinct Nashville Hot spice flavor. It also came with Dave's sauce which really reminded me of a honey mustard flavor. The Mac and cheese was pretty plain but the fries were good. Compared to other hot chicken options in Louisville, this is a pretty limited menu, with no option for any vegetable side choice or salad, besides cole slaw. I ordered the no heat chicken bites to share with two young kids, with Mac and cheese and fries, only to learn that both the Mac AND the fries are also spicy. This was our first opportunity to try Dave's Hot Chicken. We ordered the box so we could try some different items, and also one tender and a side of fries. We opted for water and the water cups are very small, so if you like your chicken hot then you might want to order a larger drink. I am, however, a spice wimp, so we ordered mild. The cheese stick, sliders, and tenders were good. Mild spice was perfect for me. The Dave's bites were okay but I would have preferred another tender instead. As for sauces, the Dave's sauce was my favorite, with ranch being second. If you don't like spice stay away from the spicy buffalo! It was really spicy. The total for our meal with tax and gratuity was about $34, a bit on the pricy side. I would, however, give Dave's another try if I had a craving for hot chicken. read more

This place sure is busy but it's Sunday afternoon. My wife went with the number 2 combo (no sauce) with fries and drink. While I went with the number 1 combo (hot) with fries and drink plus a side of reaper ranch sauce. This is not a Military friendly restaurant (sad). I tried the Dave's Hot Chicken in Jeffersonville a while back and nearly burned my heart out. Undaunted, I tried this Dave's as I was in the area. Some major differences. At this location, the owner (who also owns the Jeff location). Stops by every table to check on your meal. If he's busy, a staffer comes by to see if you need anything. Previously, I tried the "hot" spice and found it too much. Even for me, a guy who snacks on jalapeños. This time I tried the medium. Still made my eyes water, but great flavor and moderately hot. I didn't remember how large these strips are. Huge, white breast meat, perfectly fried and served piping hot and juicy. Honestly, one strip would have been enough. The crinkle fries were spot on, too. The meal is a tad pricy, but the quality makes it worthwhile. Just sit near the beverage dispenser. read more

Greeted warmly upon entering. The girl behind the counter was helpful. It was noisy enough that I had a hard time understanding her. Lots of bright graffiti like art plastered all over the walls. The food. So if you're comparing to all the other fast food places nationwide their chicken sandwich had more flavor, better texture, and fresher ingredients. The fries, well, they're obviously frozen crinkle cut fries that they cook correctly and added liberally seasoned salt mixture on. Ashton the team lead was rude. The kitchen staffed messed up my order and i called the store. Ashton was very rude he kept calling me baby and i asked him to stop. If I could give a zero I would. First, I ordered the 10 piece Dave's Bite combo - medium. There is NO sauce on the bites and I had some soggy what I think is kale on my fries. Tried calling the store to speak with the manager about it and spoke to a shift lead named Ashton. He got mad because I wanted to speak with a manager. Put me on hold and then hung up on me. I called back and he said, "the manager doesn't want to talk to you." I'm a manager where I work, and if someone asks for me, then I'm not ignoring a customer.
