The service at this location was good. Stopped in here on the way back home after doing a little shopping in the area. The locations have very bright and vibrant colors. Almost like graffiti on the walls, but not. It is a very cool place. Now...the food. The fries are always good. The chicken is just not good. This is the third location, and they are all just not good. Well, the chicken. I am not sure what it is about that "hot" sauce, but it just doesn't have much flavor. This was my first time trying Dave's hot chicken. I always thought that it was hot and did not know they had other available options. I got the slider which was one tender and fries. I got mild and I found it to be okay, maybe if I got it with a little more spice. My fries were not hot and the chicken had a dry season on them. Came here on recommendation: Chicken is good but not as hot as I thought. I ordered extra hot and it wasn't hot at all. But their chicken seasoning flavor was good and it was easy to eat without your mouth being on fire. I loved the honey on the side. It was a great addition to the chicken. The ranch was not too bad either. I would order here again. I'll sign the paperwork for the reaper or whatever it is. The hottest could be totally different, but we shall see! The chicken is good, the sauce is amazing especially the Dave's sauce. It's just really expensive for what it is. The chicken is tiny. The ambience is kind of a forced generic restaurant where they try to do obscure things to make it seem cool and relevant. The service it depends on who's working. Some days it's amazing and on point Carry out orders are ready when you walk in, food is at your table within 10 minutes, other times you go in there on a Wednesday afternoon. As a general rule, I love Dave's Hot Chicken. I frequent their Troy location often, as it's closest to my home, and occasionally the one off 13 mile and Mound. Both are fabulous and wonderful and keep me coming back for more. This location's newer and I've eaten here twice now. While the food's consistent, this place lacks compared to the other two that I go to. It's not one thing, but a few that made me question going to this location. The first time I went here, it was so loud and hard to hear anything. The music makes it hard to hear and was somewhat loud, and it was hard to hear the lady at the register taking my order. anyway, I couldn't figure out why my order was so expensive until it came out later and the order was put in wrong because nobody could hear anyone! Fine, maybe it wasn't the greatest day, so I didn't write a review because as I've stated, I generally like this brand. I stopped in again yesterday because I was hungry and wanted to take advantage of not having to go out of my way for food on the way home from a day in Livonia doing stuff. this time they got my order correct, but it's still kind of a hot mess here. I can't remember the first time I was here or not, but some of the tables most definitely needed to be wiped down from previous diners eating there. (maybe two tables, tops.) Napkins and crumbs were left behind and it just needed to be touched up, thus limiting the seating available for dine in orders. The wait seemed like forever, but again, I could've been tired. Hard to tell. I didn't hear my order called, and when I did go up to grab it, it was in a to go bag. I swear I said dine in! UGH. The staff was nice enough to put it out on a tray for me, but again, service was still slow as all get out this time around as well. Do I still like Dave's Hot Chicken? YES. Their food hits the spot but maybe this location doesn't do it for me. I just feel like there's little things that can be done to improve, including having a dining room person cleaning (wiping down tables, etc) more often. It does get loud in here, I don't know, maybe I'm old but that's a thing too. It can be hard for the staff and the patrons to really understand each other at times. Today Dave's hot chicken celebrated Drakes birthday with a free slider. I stopped by and got my slider with everything on it and extra hot. Being a free slider day, I expected to wait a long time. I waited 6 minutes before my name was called, and was in and out in less than 10 minutes. This slider was absolutely fantastic. it was juicy, crispy, spicy, saucy, and delicious. I know it's a chain restaurant, but this place is awesome! My chicken sandwich was juicy and delicious. I ordered it "hot" and was not disappointed. The "hot" at most places is usually on the mild side in my opinion, but Dave's does it right. Definitely one of the top 5 chicken sandwiches I've ever had. Kind of puts the well know chicken place next door to shame and they're open on Sunday lol. I hope to see more Dave's locations in the future! read more

Clean and cashiers are friendly with smiles. The chicken is a bit pricey. If they are going to last in this spot so close to the competitor they will need daily specials or something. I am a spicy girl for sure. HOWEVER, when they said spicy they mean it!! The spice level I tried first time there was hot. Oopsie, not I good choice for a first timer. But I'm a trooper so I covered in honey and ate it. Scrumptious!!! There fries are ok - nothing special just regular old crinkle fries. The slice of bread was stale and not a quality product. I feel that if you are going to service bread it should be a decent quality especially if that is the only side. The wait was average, the restaurant was larger inside than expected. I was thinking, just another chicken place when my buddy suggested we stop in. Was hoping they would have fried chicken, but all meals are done with chicken fingers. That said, the chicken fingers were some of the best I've had, and the spice and sauces were excellent. This was my first visit to Dave's Hot Chicken. Lilly took my order and she was very helpful explaining all the levels of hotness of the chicken and the difference between all of the options. I loved the taste, the spiciness and tenderness of the chicken. It is truly the best chicken I have had in many years. I will be certain to return as I thoroughly enjoyed the chicken. Next time, I will try the hot cauliflower. I would rate Dave's Hot Chicken an 11 out of a possible 10! My only suggestion was that should be toothpicks available for after the meal. I also had an opportunity to speak with Aaron (from Dave's Hot Chicken administration) who was in the restaurant while I was there. He was very pleasant and answered all my questions about Dave's locations near San Mateo California. Wow! not only is this one of the most fun themed places I've ever been to... I'm in love with the rubber chickens... but the service at this particular location was outstanding! The manager and the young girl Bree and another girl behind the counter, all three of them were just incredible. I actually was not able to eat because I'm on a special diet and I can't have breading but I will be back as soon as I am able to have some fried chicken! I think the manager said his name was Jaylin but I might not be remembering that right. He was tall. anyway he was so sweet. He apologized and said that they can't drop the chicken without the breading because they have certain standards that they have to uphold. He offered me a side but unfortunately I wasn't able to have anything. So he gave me a water and the girls gave me five rubber chicken stickers!
