I've been here a couple times and always leave stuffed! They have generous portions - good value for what you pay. It's similar to middle eastern food, but they add more veggies to their sandwiches and hummus, like tomatoes and bell peppers. Here's the food I've had there: - Lamb shawarma: great flavor and a generous amount of meat, but a little salty - Falafel shawarma: great seasoning and texture for the falafel, loved the sauce, green peppers, and tomatoes (ordered without cucumber and onion) - Hummus had good flavor and I appreciated all the veggies with it, along with the pita bread slices The food comes out pretty quickly and they bring it to your table once it's done. There is a good amount of seating here to meet up with people and enjoy a meal together - it's pretty clean and spacious inside. First off they give a huge sandwich for the price. It was a super meaty and stuffed sandwich. Their prices are also very reasonable. The restaurant was clean, however I'm sorry it smelt like weed. It had a super strong smell of it. Outside of the weed smell, they had a lot of seating and many TVs with great shows/movies playing. I thought the sandwich was ok. The beef meat very salty. This is a nice and clean restaurant, with free parking, and plenty of things around. I absolutely love Bucharest. They have never let me astray. This used to be the old beans and cornbread so it's kind of set up like that, but they've done pretty good job with it. There's ample seating all around. So if you have a larger party it shouldn't be a big deal. The staff was really cool, no complaints there. But it depends on how busy they are, that's the important part. The chicken shawarma salad is a go-to for me. Also, the Reuben slider is really really good too. Actually just bought everything that they have. There, is good and consistent. I have been to Bucharest before but not this location - I've been to one of the Detroit locations and also the Royal Oak one. The shawarma was always decent to me but never anything super special. Yesterday my husband and I were coming back from a show in Detroit and I suggested stopping by here to get some quick takeout eats. I had the shawarma stick, honestly I think the regular shawarma and the stick are about the same size and it's like $2 to $3 cheaper. My husband got the lamb shawarma box, which includes a side, so we split some curly fries - their curly fries are always good. I actually thought my shawarma stick was really good, and I would return for it. My husband wasn't as pleased with his lamb shawarma, he said it had a lot of fatty bits. Overall pricing is not too bad here, I will say they took a long time to make our meal and there wasn't anyone else waiting - the only excuse might be if they were making lots of doordash orders at the same time or something like that. New Bucharest location? Might as well give it a try since I was nearby. Bucharest Shawarma Box w/ Shoestring Fries ($10.95) - The fries are pretty standard, decent crisp on exterior, fluffy interior. They don't skimp on the fries, they give you a big portion. These are definitely not shoestring fries though, seems a bit like false advertising to me. The wrap itself is filled with fries, cabbage, tomato, very fresh and crunchy pickles, garlic sauce, and chicken. Surprisingly, the pickles are the best part of this wrap - I prefer the ones here over many more authentic shawarma places in Dearborn. The chicken had an overly grilled sear that resulted in quite a bit more charred taste than I like. As a result, the chicken was also very dry. Overall the wrap was extremely salty and I had to down several glasses of water after eating it. Hummus ($6.95) - This comes with a pack of three pitas. The hummus certainly isn't bad - it has a good mix of chickpea and tahini. Once again, it's super oversalted though - honestly, the first thing I noticed was the salt content. As with my previous experiences at several downtown/midtown locations, everything at Bucharest is extremely salty, some salty enough that they are unpleasant to eat as they burn your mouth. As a positive, this location is way less crowded than the other locations. There are just much better places to get shawarma all over the metro that have a more appropriate amount of seasoning. read more

There's a Bucharest Grill not too far from where I work and I really like it, so I was excited to see that they were making one on my route home from work. I noticed today that they were open, so I doubled back to go there. First of all, the storefront is nice, clean, airy and inviting. I like the wooden tables and booths. The counter people were also welcoming. Their prices are also extremely reasonable. The receipt says that they charge 2% for credit card transanctions but the extra charge wasn't on my receipt. I ordered a Niki's salad, mistaking it for the Trish's salad. But, chicken instead of beef was fine; kind of what I wanted anyhow. The Niki's salad was chicken, feta, shredded cabbage and dressing. When I got it home, added some plain lettuce & cucumbers. Sadly, I was most disappointed; the chicken was ok (a bit dry, but I don't mind that), but either the cabbage or the dressing was incredibly salty; I couldn't tell which it was. I tried to doctor it up, but it was of no use; I just couldn't eat it. So, I ended up picking out the chicken and I threw the rest away. They've only been onen a couple days, so I'm sure they're still working out the kinks. I will give them another try, but definitely with a different meal. read more

Loved the amazing taste, preparation and the large quantity of meat given. I ordered from DoorDash, which took under 30 minutes. It was packaged tightly and I so appreciated the effort. Been to this location about three times and the food was fine, but the service definitely lacks. Most of the time they don't say hi and are goofing around with all of the other coworkers. I'm at some places, but when it comes to my food, I don't play about it. Worst location that Bucharest has ever opened. Don't bother coming here. I came here for the first time today after looking forward to this location opening and it was all around TERRIBLE. My chicken shawarma was cold and the chicken was so hard it hurt my tooth when I bit into it. I'm not even kidding. It was awful and was the worst shawarma I've ever had. I threw half of it away because of it being so cold. Waste of $10 for a single sandwich. On top of that, they've raised their prices significantly compared to what it used to be (8.50 for a shawarma now??) AND charged me 95 cents for a TINY CUP OF GARLIC. REALLY??? LMAO. While there may have been growing pains since opening, this is one of our favorite places for Mediterranean. Food is hot when served, nicely prepared...great amount of chicken on the large shawarma salad. Fries were crisp not soggy. Wraps were excellent, stuffed with chicken. Not a five star rating yet as the chicken does have a little too much salt, while not very many people in the small dining area, the music was too loud and most TVs are positioned for the staff , not the customers. Staff was excellent. Attentive, thankful, and acknowledging, small warm smiles. Did I forget helpful? As I was leaving, one of the staff noticed and asked if I wanted a bag for my leftover carry-out...asked with a nice smile. We'll be back for sure. read more

Tried this place twice now, both times disappointing. First time was dining in. The place had hardly any customers and it took them over 45 minutes to prepare a simple order. Half the order was appetizers and they couldn't even bring those out while we were waiting for sandwiches. About a dozen employees behind the counter goofing off, standing around, gossiping, or shooting the breeze. Maybe they should train more of their employees to actually prepare food. Second time was delivery. Order was fast but no pita bread for hummus and no dressing for the salad. Don't bother with this place.
