READ THIS!!! STAY AWAY, at the VERY LEAST, FROM THEIR STURGIS OFFICE in 2026!!!!! They have done…read moreour personal & business taxes for several years. I walked in yesterday, doors open but entire front area dark. Stood there waiting, and finally a man came out in jeans and hoodie. Didn't identify himself; I HAD TO ASK who he was. He just stood there after he told me his name but not what he does/role in the company. He didn't ask why I was there. I had to spoon-feed every thing to him. I asked where everyone was and he said "They all quit so we starting over." (The missing word is NOT a typo!). I told him i was coming to drop off my tax package. Nothing. I handed him the packet and he says nothing. Getting uncomfortable, so I ask him if he is a CPA; no and told me he was something that I couldn't understand. Asked him where he went to school; then he told me he could prepare taxes but had only passed the first part of the CPA test. I asked for HIS business card, he rifled through the entire DARK front office and said he didn't know where they were. I asked about the client retention letter I normally sign. He knew nothing about that. I initially left my file (there was someone else's sitting unsecured on the counter), but went out to call their Elkhart office. I told the receptionist how concerned I was and she said, "Well, I don't know why he dresses that way;" "Ya, we're working on that office;" "Ya, I don't know what to tell you.". When I told her she wasn't instilling any confidence in me, she said nothing! So I asked to talk to Dan Phillips, owner; she put me on hold and never came back! I went back into the office to retrieve my file and, again, no one up front and there WAS MY FILE WITH ALL MY PERSONAL INFORMATION right up front at the desk, accessible to anyone walking in off the street!!! The "employee" came up front and I told him I came to get my documents back and he tried to tell me, from what I could understand, that he could do my taxes and could even support me in front of the IRS (???), but I insisted I wanted everything back. After I left, I called and only got the voicemail for the Elkhart office, leaving a message for Dan who never called me back. No surprise. STAY AWAY!!!!!!!

The people that work for her don't even know what lie to tell. You can get a different story for every person you talk to. last year I didn't see my return until almost August and this year it was more of the same. I finally found an accountant that calls back, and keeps appointments.

Probably the absolute worst company ever. In fact I don't know how they are even still in business…read morewhen they don't even return calls the refuse to talk to you and promise to call back and they never do. Please do not go to this company ever you will save yourself a lot of trouble.

I had my taxes done three years ago with AccuTax in Elkhart, IN. I went to them weeks before tax…read moreday. On tax day i received a call at 8:00pm stating that they made a mistake and entered the wrong county, I went in and had to resign. Weeks later I found out they had not filed my return. I left several messages for weeks with no return call. I sent a letter and still no response. Called again and finally someone answered. I explained what happened and she said she would ask Rick. When she called back she said my letter was under a pile of papers. That afternoon my taxes were finally sent. Of course there were penalties from the IRS, which I paid. Rick said he would reimburse me and refund the amount I paid to have them file. I called every month and spoke to Rick from May to December and each month he promised the check would be mailed. After almost THREE YEARS I still have not received any reimbursement. This is NOT a trustworthy or honest company. When the tax company gives empty promises knowing they will not reimburse I would NEVER recommend them.
