We found a coupon for a free pet session on a box of cat litter and decided our precious Tuna…read moreneeded glamor shots. Much to my surprise, JCPenney Portraits was poppin' both times we visited. They only do pet sessions three times a week or at pet events, so be sure to call ahead for your pet photo shoot. We arrived early, but the photographers were in the middle of a large group session and therefore didn't see us until 20 minutes after our scheduled time. We were allowed to choose two backgrounds out of their 13 options, and we used their ottoman to contain our kitty. They cannot offer other props for pet shoots, so bring your own toys and treats. Tuna was panicked the whole time and wanted to hide in the prop closet, but the photographer was incredibly patient and skilled at working around our cat's opposition. Once all the photos are taken, we worked with the photographer to pick our favorites, edit any with text and borders, and then order prints or special products like cards, canvas, or mugs. It's $10 per person/pet in the photo, but they cut us a deal because our session started late. Photos can be picked up at the store as early as a week later. Our photos turned out so cute, and I can't wait to hand out wallet-sized images of Tuna to my friends. Our experience here was fun, and I would recommend JCP Portraits to anyone seeking a professional photoshoot. TIP: Don't come here without coupons! View coupons on their website or find some at the JCPenney service counter. They try to upsell a lot of products, so save money where you can. TIP: If you're coming with small children, bring entertainment for them so they don't turn the lobby furniture into a jungle gym like the children did when we visited. I noticed there was a lot of waiting for family appointments: waiting for the session to begin, waiting for each kid to get their individual shots, waiting for the parents to choose photos, etc.

However, not knowing anything about the area or photographers there, I had to do some online research and hope for the best. I emailed a few photographers, and Brian seemed responsive with a good attitude and a good portfolio. When we met him, he was very personable and easy going. He found the perfect place to do our photo session, and set up quickly. He was very good with the kids and caught some fun, spontaneous moments. He was up for shooting all our requests (large group photo and lots of smaller group photos), and he knew how to guide us. He is extremely creative and has an amazing talent. All her friends that have seen her proofs are in love with them. I do not know how we weill choose as there were so many good ones. It was 90 some degrees the evening we took the photos and Brian still had a smike on his face as he was lugging stuff all around Kalamazoo.
