I came in as a skeptic after a psychiatrist that offered ever increasing doses of medication and a psychologist that concluded that "eating too much candy" was the root cause of my depression. Dr. Crane completely changed my perspective on what a psychologist can do. I left school 4 years ago, part of it that I wasn't willing to admit, was that I no longer loved what I wanted to do (biology research). I just had the weirdest experience ever…read more.. I had seen Dr. Ashley a couple of years ago twice, as my mother was a patient and recommended her. She prescribed me an anti-depressant. I couldn't afford to continue treatment, because the sessions were expensive without insurance. I have amazing insurance now, so I thought I'd give Dr Ashley another try. She recommended we meet every week. Then, I was on vacation, then she was on vacation. I was preparing to meet with her after not having seen her in ~4 weeks. I received a call from her assistant(?) asking we reschedule, without an explanation. Ok, fine. She followed up a couple of days later and suggested a date to meet. Here's where it got weird... I took the day off to go to a dr checkup and planned to meet her during lunch. I left my house an hour early, enough time to travel to the Loop and arrive on time (Dr Ashley mentioned she appreciated my punctuality). I arrived EXACTLY on time, 12:30pm as we agreed. I knock, loudly, per usual. I waited outside in the hall... I tried knocking again. I heard her talking inside her apartment, but I could not determine whether she was on the phone or not. Then I started doubting myself; did I mistake the time and/or date of our appointment? When I knocked that second time, I heard her speak loudly, as if she had heard my knock and wanted me to know she was with someone. I was standing in the hallway, looking like a fool, knocking on a door with her dr name plate. Her neighbor walked past me, and I just felt embarrassed. I just felt so strange after that experience. She made me second-guess myself. I went to Starbucks to hang out, thinking she may call me if she had been with someone and I was interrupting their session. I received her call 30min later, around 1pm, asking where I was. What??? I had knocked... Twice! I heard her talking! She sounded defensive, as she would have heard me if I had knocked. Ok, fine, it's a misunderstanding. I shook it off and trotted back to her office. Of course, not without having to pass the doorman for the 3rd time and running into her neighbor again! I knocked unnecessarily loudly when I retuned, and we briefly discussed the misunderstanding. She still try to convince herself I never knocked. I told her it sounded as if she were with someone, or on the phone. FINALLY she admitted she had been on the phone (why would you answer the phone when you're expecting your patient?), but still tried to convince me she heard a knocking ~12:40 and look out her door, but no one was there. I thought I could disregard this whoooole experience as a misunderstanding. She had always been friendly and trustworthy prior to this meeting. Then, another misunderstanding occurred. She was unavailable to see me until 3 weeks after our meeting, so we agreed on a date (which I had always promptly keyed into my calendar. Since I had to travel 15min during my lunch break to visit her, my schedule was tight and I needed to be very organized and careful about planning our meetings). I received a strange call the next week from her- when I listened to the voicemail, she claimed I must have missed her session, because she was waiting for me earlier. Ok, she is an older lady, and I understand she could have made a mistake (we're human). Plus, she hand-wrote her appointments (so who was her assistant who called me to reschedule the one time?), and I kept meticulous notes of my appointments on my iPhone. I prompted returned her call, and reminded her that we agreed on the week after. I could only assume she flipped the page, saw my name on the date I claimed our appointment was set, and apologized to me. It was her mistake. That's ok! See you at our next appointment! (I'm a patient person I guess...) My work week was very hectic, and I made the first mistake in our "business relationship." I completely forgot about our appointment! Oh. My. God. How embarrassing! I realized this on Thursday, the day after we were scheduled to meet. AS SOON AS I REALIZED I MISSED OUR APPT, I CALLED HER. I left her a message, actually profusely apologizing for missing. I asked her to return my call so we can reschedule. It was my first mistake, and I had a good track record, right? WRONG! I came home the next day after I called her to a hand-written note in my mailbox. She wrote it the day I missed the appointment, which is the day before I called her. How embarrassing that I called and profusely apologized, but she had made up her mind about me: In essence, she began by mentioning her appt mixups, but not as her mistake. She, of course, called me out on my mistake. She thought I didn't come because I no longer needed her services. I, more than ever, depended on talking to someone, and she obviously did not care about me as a patient to think of me so low as to not call and explain my absence. "I think we should call ourselves done for now." I would have never thought I would experience such a traumatic experience!!!

She was really only able to identify the anxiety. She then recommended that I find a specialist. I have a PPO and am all about convenience, so I came to Yelp and started dialing psychiatrists near 60601. After three of four calls, I started to realize that everyone was fully-booked. However, there was one last name on the list. I dialed the number and closed my eyes. Luckily, a calm voice answered. I asked if she was accepting patients and she said verbatim "Well, that depends." We hit it off immediately because my ailments were her specialty (at least I assume so because she freaking nailed it). We met one to two times a week for psychotherapy and pharmaceutical adjustments in her inviting, charming office which feels more like a living room with a view. The sessions were FAR from what you see in the movies. She listens. She laughs. She tells you an appropriate amount of relevant personal anecdotes to remind you that you're not alone in this crazy world. And then she'll slip in the occasion "A-Ha" moment that'll render you stunned for the rest of the week. I was a Vice President, Trader, Lead Singer and President of a prestigious trading organization. Dr. Ashley worked seamlessly with any group that needed information about my case to ensure I had proper time to heal. I was truly amazed that she was able to affect me so profoundly in one-hour visits. This woman saved my life. Heart disease runs rampant in my family, even if proper health precautions are taken. If Dr. Ashley hadn't eliminated my issues I may very well be the richest man in the graveyard. She calls it like she sees it, cares deeply about her patients, makes extra time for the when needed and even was the perfect sounding post for career advise . I left every session as if a weight was lifted off my shoulders. It was liberating. I hope this was helpful and humbly wish you the same success.

My mom often told me that I was an angry child, as I grew up I knew I had something going on in my head. I knew I had some issues to deal with but needed help. A friend suggested to me to use Jenny. She felt that her and I would get along and she would help me get to the root of my issues. After our initial session we had a clear path and I knew I had to and wanted to get this on and over with, no more of this shadow hanging around me. Was it easy? No, it really sucked, however she helped me understand, things and used this whole technique of EMRD, ( two separate paddles you hold that help you mimic REM sleep which is when you process information and feelings during sleep). I actually had a memory of when I was a 3 week old baby, (this is not normal, my earliest memory before had been at 6 months, I'm weird. I know). She helped me get to the root of my issues. When I hit that memory, I got it and I fully understood. The weight I had been carrying for decades lifted. It was magical and I could really smile, not kinda or fake it, I could smile from my soul. It was the change I had been waiting for and finally reached. For that, I can never thank her enough. Do I think she will work for everyone? No, but if you are ready to deal with your problems and want some help, I would recommend her in a heart beat.

I think…read moreit's important to note up front that my experience with Jenny is not necessarily indicative of an experience someone else would have. Sometimes it's just not a good fit between two people, and I think that was the case here. After going through some pretty major things last year, I sought out professional help but I didn't have any luck in finding someone who was a good fit, so I just kind of gave up and decided to ignore my problems... Yeah, that didn't really work out and I don't recommend it. When I finally admitted that I needed to deal with things and reached out for help, a friend recommended Jenny to me. That friend had success with her and seemed to think it would be a good fit. Since I trust this friend's opinion and advice, I gave Jenny a call. It took 3 phone calls and my friend calling her on my behalf before she called me back. It was very frustrating, because for most people I think that taking that first step and admitting you need help is very scary, and when your calls are not returned it can be discouraging. When we finally spoke she said she had returned my call and left a message for me, but I never had any missed calls or voicemails from her so it struck me as odd. That should have been a red flag, but again... I trusted my friend's recommendation and moved forward. At my first appointment, Jenny explained how everything worked with EMDR and started taking a history on me. There were things I knew I needed to work on, so we covered those and some other things that came up. I felt at ease with her, so I decided to give it a whirl. One drawback was that this office doesn't deal with insurance companies directly - you pay out of pocket and then submit for reimbursement. Since my insurance isn't the greatest, I have no out of network coverage so I would not be getting reimbursed for any of this. But, I rationalized it in my head and thought that the investment in me and my mental health would be worth it. I truly believed that. Over the course of the next few sessions I didn't feel that EMDR was working for me and I would be better served with talk therapy. That, and while the location of this office is convenient, it's pretty hard to be in a room trying to focus during EMDR and you have the Michigan Ave. traffic and sirens going on outside and the phones of the company next door ringing so loud you can hear them through the wall. It wasn't the best environment. I also felt that after a few sessions I should have noted some progress, but I didn't feel like we had moved forward. In her defense, she did say that we would start off slow, but time is money, and I had neither to spare (which we discussed during the first session) while I spun my wheels week after week. I had every intention of discussing this with her to see how to move forward. But... Two weeks ago I needed to shuffle around my schedule so I called and left a message to reschedule an appointment we had set up. Two days later, I hadn't heard back. I called again. I finally got a call back, and she admitted the voicemail system they used was "archaic." That wasn't comforting - this is a mental health office, and while none of my needs are urgent, what would happen if someone else's were and the messages weren't getting through? We rescheduled, but as the time passed and I knew the discussion I was going to have with her I was uncertain as to whether or not I wanted to waste our time (and my money) by going in, so I left a voicemail expressing my concerns about whether EMDR was working for me, whether or not I should come in, and if she could give me a referral for someone who did talk therapy as I still wanted to work on things. I asked to set up a time to talk on the phone about all of the above. Not only did I not receive a call back, but today I received a voicemail about 15 minutes after my scheduled appointment time asking where I was. Frustrated doesn't even begin to cover it. I called back and left yet another voicemail recapping the previous one I had left. At this point though, I haven't heard back and I don't think there's much more to discuss. While I admit that EMDR is not for me, I was initially willing to explore talk therapy with her if she was willing to do so, but after the continued phone fiasco I think I'm better off going elsewhere. I hate that it ended this way, but whether you're a mental health professional or a trapeze instructor, there are basic functions of any business that need to be done. Returning your client's phone calls in a timely fashion is pretty high up on that list. Back to square one I go...

I don't think it would be an overstatement to say that Dr. Inan saved my life…read more About six years ago, I was hospitalized for acute anxiety and bi polar disorder. It was serious enough that I was not able to return to work for five more months, partially due to medications that had to be gradually brought up to the right dose. While doing so, my Dr. wanted to see me twice a week in the beginning due to some serious side effects/issues that would have serious consequences. It did the trick, I started feeling myself "coming back to life" Since I didn't really think I was bi polar given what I knew about the condition, I thought that I felt good enough after a year to stop using the medications. The Dr. I had been seeing had move away and within months I was headed back into a debilitating depression coupled with anxiety. As another year passed it became clear to me that there was really only one way to end the depression. Luckily I was referred to Dr. Inan first. When I called her to make an appointment, she told me that since I would be a new patient, the earliest she would be able to see me would be in five weeks. She took down my information over the phone, gave me an appointment date, and asked what she would be seeing me for. I told her what I was being treated for, and that I'd been off my medication for about a year, and she said that I was to come in as soon as possible. She kept me on the phone while she figured out when she would be able to see me, and insisted that I get in that afternoon. When I got there, she confirmed my pervious Dr's anxiety/bi polar diagnosis, got me back on my medication, and gave me studies that show 60% of the people who were being treated for bipolar and go off the medication end their lives. She put me back on the same medications, and again had to work up to the full dose in increments with several visits. During one of those visits after she had seen an improvement she said that when this medication is working properly we could do something about that ADHD, something I had been treated for as a child but had not told either her or my previous Dr., and it was pretty impressive that she could so accurately make that call in just a couple visits. At first I was concerned about the amount of different medications and when I brought the prescriptions to the pharmacist, I asked if I was being over medicated. She looked at them, asked if it was bi polar, anxiety, and ADHD? she said no, I wasn't. Her opinion was confirmed when I had to have a different Dr. prescribe my refills. He saw nothing unusual, and even noted that she took care in making sure that the medications she prescribed were well paired. Dr. Inan is in the midst of a family situation that I can only imagine are horrific. It has resulted in some bad publicity and maybe some rash decisions that a mother would not see as rash under the circumstances. There are two sides to every story, and since the one that will sell newspapers is the one that is in them, it is probably the one that makes the best headline, which is really sad. I can't imagine going through something so personal and heartbreaking, and have it all become a headline to sell newspapers.

Like other reviewers have mentioned, she likes to manage every symptom with medication; I was on at least 5-10 meds at any time, including lithium (I have unipolar depression and GAD), powerful mood stabilizers and, most notably, fistfuls of Xanax and Ritalin. I ended up developing a dependency on the Ritalin, which she supported in prescribing me ever and ever higher amounts. The high amounts on Ritalin I was on--much higher than is typically prescribed for adults with ADHD, in combination with all the other medicines, caused me to have two clonic-tonic seizures. Tests at the hospital determined that I have no seizure disorder and it was the "cocaine levels of Ritalin" (to quote the ER docs) that had caused the seizures. Where was Dr. Inan during all this? MIA, of course, and later told me to check myself into an inpatient facility or she would no longer see me. I DID check into Lakeshore Hospital, where I got a new meds doc, was immediately taken off all the meds and given one low dosage of Effexor and Wellbutrin respectively, which is all I've been on for the last four years. In addition to the overmedicating and refusal to take responsibility for my seizures, she is inappropriately personal with her patients... breast pumping in appointments, inviting patients to her home, etc etc. I could go on, but I hope this review helps you make your decision.

I came across him when IDFPR requested a psychiatric evaluation. I filed a police report of break ins. He rewrote the police report (my complaint of break ins) into a psychiatric condition that caused my loss of livelihood. The half page complaint of break in turned into 13 pages. His written report was confusing, not truthful. He writes like a schizophrenic. This is really scary, since he is an MD and prescribes controlled substance drugs. (His writings is a reflection of his beliefs). He wanted me to pay him, in addition to payments made to him by IDFPR. Perhaps, if I paid him at that time, I would not have lost my source of livelihood. He is not transparent about the diagnostic tests and how he arrives at his conclusions. (For centuries, psychiatric diagnostic tests are top secret. They utilize word and picture games.) To conclude, he practices psychiatric consumer fraud, since his evaluations are not based on facts and sciences. He is licensed to practice this way.
