The instructors teach really detailed but easy to follow techniques - I found Rumble to be way too complicated. They teach you fundamentals here but let you express whatever motions in a guided way so you're not thinking so hard about what to do but rather just releasing the stress. I love the floor to ceiling bags (as opposed to the hanging water ones) and the soft flooring is so comfortable. I also have to mention they clean this place multiple times per day - a dedicated crew cleaning and fixing things why it's always immaculate. I'm not sure if they officially own upstairs at 9th Street gym too but that is the best body builders gym in Hoboken. I only took a star off because the staff can be a little cold / unfriendly sometimes.

Prior to CKO Hoboken, I was a member of CKO Jersey City so I've been a long time fan of the work out you get here. It's always challening but in the best way. The trainers push you to be better and they care about your form. If you're looking for a group workout that encompasses a lot of different things, then come here. It's also helpful that the front desk employees are so kind and have a smile on their face when you walk in at 7am. When I lost my grandmother to Alzheimer's, the CKO Team was quick to help advertise my fundraiser. This place is the best, highly recommend for ALL ages and stages in your fitness journey. You're certainly welcomed here.

Okay, this will be a bit bias but only because they deserve it…read more I was invited as I personally know Professor Lincoln. He trained myself and other students at my karate Dojo in the Bronx. Therefore, when he extended the invitation for the grand opening I wanted to come to support him and his business and business partner immediately. What you're getting from them and this academy is far more than a way to defend yourself. You're getting the ability to learn about yourself while losing weight, getting in top shape, and of course learning a skill that will keep you confident when walking down a dark alley. Not sure why you would do that, but just in case I wanted to paint the picture (haha). Now let's get back to the school and what you'll get. First, amazing staff. They are welcoming, loving, encouraging and motivating. Though I am not a full time student, I will make the one hour commute to train here at least once a month. Why don't I sign up you might ask? Well, I live in the city and train at the affiliate school there. HOWEVER, if I move to NJ, this will be my home - no questions. Back to why you might want to join this dojo/school/academy. It's great for children and adults of any age and every level. So check them out! If you have questions feel free ask them or DM me. I hope you enjoy your visit if you go. Thank you Professor Lincoln, Professor Brian and Master Igor for having us today. Oss!

They've always been able to attract talented instructors Even if their time there was fleeting. HowEver, MANAGEMENT leaves a lot to be desired like... integrity. I'm a first responder and have been working non stop since the initial COVId spike in early 2020. The owner claims he sent out an email but made no attempts outside of this "alleged" blanket email to contact members and inform them that his gym reopened and he would start charging members. While this practice may make sense during normal times, amidst a pandemic, with people loosing their jobs and lives it's nothing shirt of egregious. It shows a lack of empathy and integrity. It's shows that management cares more about the bottom line then they do about their members.

This place rocks. I…read moreemailed them to ask if my boyfriend can take a class to see if this is a gym he would be interested in joining as he is a MASSIVE INSANE CRAYCRAY UFC fan. It would be my birthday gift to him. They emailed me back and said he AND I can take a class for free and decide if we like it. The coach / manager Jeffery was a doll. He showed us around and introduced us to some important peeps who fought in the UFC. Really awesome, my boyfriend was totally in his element. The gym is reasonably sized and even has an apartment upstairs where members can just hang out and watch TV. It honestly felt like I was in the Real World UFC. So I took the class too. I was the only girl. And I think I definitely kicked some a$$! Woo Hoo. Everyone was so nice and forthcoming. Nobody was creeping on me for being the only fah-male in the room. The other thing is, some of these guys are pros but were helping out the beginners like it aint no thang. Really awesome "bro-ski" vibe. I felt like one of the boys. Jason, the boyfriend, ended up signing up to the gym because he enjoyed it so much. Really cool experience for his birthday. Thanks EDGE for an awesome Friday night!

Partly because I've already been boxing for…read more12 years and have a bunch of semi-discipline, (lol) but I've also enjoyed learning NEW things, and interacting with the cool trainers. Primarily FFKK caters to the kids, teaching them karate and having summer programs, after-school programs, plus some classes where the parents and kids train together. But four days a week at 7:30pm the adults attend kickboxing/muy thai classes for an hour. They also sell intro gloves, leg gear, head gear and shirts, hoodies and a duffel to put it all in. They strictly prefer that all wear the shirts when they train. The black-belt trainer, Jerry is a great guy, patient, kind, able to train all levels at once. He makes sure your form is good, makes sure folks don't get hurt, and is very flexible with your decision to spar when you get to a certain level. There are sessions just for testing, and folks who perform what they've learned get a belt. Another black-belt trainer there, X, is a good guy too. He co-trains with Jerry and always puts an effort in and boosts up folk's confidence when they feel they aren't quite getting the drills. He challenges folks without pushing too hard beyond the scope of what they are capable of, and is genuinely respectful of everyone at all levels. Part of what keeps me going back is training with them, and actually learning to kickbox, not just do HIIT training for a Hot Gurl Summer. They respect the sport, and they help you to enjoy training and learning. I wasn't good at holding mitts or pads when I'm paired up, because I never had to in boxing. When we do drills we pair up and learn from each other. Folks learn how a punch or kick feels so they know at what speed or force to do it themselves. Yet no one walks out of there looking to fight anyone. They just feel they've learned enough to protect themselves and avoid combat confrontation. And they make new friends. The place is clean, bright, organized, not always cool, but you're gonna sweat hard anyway, so ventilation and a decent temperature is good enough. The heavy bags are quality, the pads well kept, and there are snacks and beverages should you need em. Seating at the front is great for anyone having to wait for you, or to put your gear or shoes, although they do have cubbies for that too. There always seems to be package deal pricing, and the prices are reasonable. Check em out and then go kick something.

The classes are 45 minutes (strictly while the summer camp is also happening, but once the kids are gone, we're allowed up to 15 extra minutes to get a quick workout in). I personally attend the morning sessions as I have to work during the evening ones. After each class, I leave feeling pump and ready to face the day. I have been recommending this place to everyone, and if not for you, then I recommend your kids doing karate here. This is simply a place you need in your life and I hope that everyone gets to experience it at some point in their lives.
