As a reflection of this- every member I have interacted with is pleasant and like minded- just trying to get better each day! Every part of each workout is crafted with purpose. Whether that be from each specific workout each day, each week or even month to month. The focus is on function and safety all while getting in better shape and having fun. Because of all of this- the camaraderie and sense of community at the Fitlab is as good as any group I've been a part of- fitness or not. Everyone is happy to be in the building. It would be my birthday gift to him. They emailed me back and said he AND I can take a class for free and decide if we like it. The coach / manager Jeffery was a doll. He showed us around and introduced us to some important peeps who fought in the UFC. Really awesome, my boyfriend was totally in his element. The gym is reasonably sized and even has an apartment upstairs where members can just hang out and watch TV. It honestly felt like I was in the Real World UFC. So I took the class too. I was the only girl. And I think I definitely kicked some a$$! Woo Hoo. Everyone was so nice and forthcoming. Nobody was creeping on me for being the only fah-male in the room. The other thing is, some of these guys are pros but were helping out the beginners like it aint no thang. Really awesome "bro-ski" vibe. I felt like one of the boys. The manager merely spoke with them. I pay what SIX of them combined pay a month to that gym. So who do you think their Management sided with? It's beyond Sickening. The studio size is fairly spacious and the facilities are quite clean. I came in for a mid-morning weekday class, and it was absolutely packed. The classes before and after me seemed pretty well-attended too. My only complaints are that the studio is quite warm when in session and the machines are spaced too closely to each other.

If you come during the day on a weekend, it could get super duper crowded, but I don't know any gym in Hoboken that doesn't get rush hours. Most people don't clean off the equipment after they use it, but the equipment is pretty clean so we don't feel grossed out. I most often go to the pool, which is a really nice sized (25 yards?) one. Heated most of the time, definitely during the winter. I don't think they swap out the water often and just dump cleaning detergent in their to keep it fairly clean, but I deal with it because this is the only gym in Hoboken that has a pool and for me a pool with questionable water is better than no pool at all. I always wear a waterproof, rubber cap to protect my hair. The pool has four lanes (3 on the weekends during family swim hours) and in the weekday mornings I almost always have a lane to myself but on the weekends I often have to share. The showers are acceptable. Definitely not always clean and the shower curtains are short so the water always leaks into the drying area in front of the shower, but nothing flip flops won't solve. They offer complimentary small and large towels at the front desk if you ask for them. The soap, conditioner and shampoo is almost always full in the showers, I've only had one time where something had run out. My husband and I signed up for a 6-month plan and it runs us $167/month. Staff is nice enough. They also have discounted, validated parking, I think it's like $8 or something (I saw a sign once about it). Overall, is it the best gym ever? Is it an Equinox? For sure not. But it meets our needs and is just good enough that we'll probably stick around until we move away.

I subtracted one star because of the bathroom situation. Children are not allowed in the locker rooms, even same sex children. Therefore, the only bathroom the children can use is in the pool area behind the hot tub. Not easy to find and if it was your first visit it could have taken a while until one of the staff came to your rescue.
