I went to see Dr. Sonego to reduce a medication I was on. He did that. However, he was very condescending when speaking with me. He didn't believe me when I told him a few things I had experienced with my medication and talked about hobby Drs who only work part time. I assumed he meant women. The last I knew, they would need to have the same education he did. How they decide to use that education is a personal choice and not a hobby. I would not recommend. read more

I love Dr Sonego He's compassionate with me, advises me, talks with me no matter how much time is needed, and has helped me with anorexia, generalized anxiety disorder and alcohol use disorder. He is a rock star!!! Never had to wait for his amazing help. read more

Horrible experience, He is invalidating, arrogant, condescending, and does not listen to patient concerns. He repeatedly questioned my obvious diagnosis and often suggested I take a $1,500 psychological exam (with someone in his office of course). Further, I developed severe side effects from a medication he prescribed. When I presented him with my immobilized and painful person, he insisted I should stay on the medication, despite having gone to the emergency room days before and being in so much pain I could not walk. It took another month of horrible side effects to make the decision to get off the medication myself, which he then derided as 'irresponsible'. It's clear he is interested only in keeping you on the meds he prescribes, whether or not that is the right decision for your health, and keeping you coming back for appointments as often (and as short) as possible. I have not an ounce of respect for him as a professional, and I would highly recommend finding someone else. read more

we are not in San Francisco - not sure why that is showing up ... Dr. S saw our daughter, made no attempt to connect or relate to her - was condescending to her, scheduled her for further testing (in his office). we are still getting bills from over a year ago. meanwhile no confirmed diagnosis, the office staff have been less than helpful, other dr in practice was arrogant, condescending and downright rude to her when delivering test results - which in the end were inconclusive for the most part and indicated further testing ... they were no help to her... she is now in her 3rd in patient treatment facility in less than a year to get help... we firmly believe they had a chance to help her her get better before things got to the point where she needed in patient treatment. read other reviews and decide for yourself... there have to be better options out there... the medical/mental health community can and should do better read more

Frequently late. He would even just be showing up to the office sometimes after I and other patients of his had been waiting for quite awhile. Almost every visit, I had to remind him of my diagnosis, and current medication he had prescribed. He could have at least used the time we kept waiting to review the chart so he knew who he was seeing. I wondered if I told him I needed xyz, if he would write a script without question. All paper. Communication from the office terrible. No leniency on late or missed appointments even in a blizzard. I didn't "break-up" with this office until COVID when he sat two feet from me without wearing a mask, after we had phone appointments where I had told hime of the horrors I had been experiencing as an ICU nurse. No other office staff we were wearing masks. That was my last appointment in this place. read more

HORRIBLE. Do not fall for his high ratings. Wasted 8 years of my life with a mis diagnosis that impaired me to the point of not being able to drive. He laughed at me, doesn't remember things and is arrogant. Because of him I had to be treated in Illinois for Autoimmune Encephalitis that never needed to get to the level it did, but it did because of his neglect. Dr. Sonego is terrible. He would keep me waiting for 30-45 minutes after he saw a previous patient, and he wasn't always in with a patient. He never spent more than 20 minutes with me. I have generalized anxiety disorder and he prescribed me meds for a misdiagnoses (by a psychotherapist in his office who is beyond terrible) of ADHD which caused me to have panic attacks. Do not waste your time and money with this bozo. He doesn't care about the well being of his patients. He cares about the money and that is all. I will give him 1 star for referring me to the therapist, who specializes in eating disorders, working in his office at the time. It's been 4 years and I've been seeing her ever since. read more
