I live on the same street as Thrive and was thrilled to see a clinic built in very close proximity…read more I've seen 4 providers here but have had the best experiences with the following: Dr. Brad Venghaus- I believe he's the founder of this clinic. He's extremely kind, patient, and overall an excellent doctor. I enjoy having him as my PCP. I just wish I didn't have to schedule so far out for an appointment. It's a blessing and a curse, because he's so popular! Mariana Racovita- I recently had an acute visit with Mariana and she was wonderful. Kind, courteous and more importantly thorough. I'd love to continue seeing her as well. The other staff (medical assistants and front desk) have been good for the most part. I've had some off experiences but are willing to look past due to the overall quality care received from Thrive. Shout out to the lab techs though, because they are always wonderful! Thank you!

I was pleasently surprised - it almost made me want to get sick every day! (well you know what I mean *laughing*) From the moment I walked in and confused myself checking in on a tablet (I am a global engineer for super computing - my microwave still blinks 12:00 - go figure) to the gentleman doing my vitals, to Makayla who is smiling and good fun to talk about my admittedly beaten body I call home. I clearly made the right choice with Makayla and the Staff of Thrive in N Austin, and recommend them highly. Thanks Guys! NORTH AUSTIN- THRIVE MEDICAL CLINIC 2217 Park Bend Drive Suite 210

They leave the phone off the hook so that no one can get through, I was on hold for 3+ hours until my phone died. Forget it if you have a UTI, first urine test no cultures were ordered, 2nd test I was prescribed 5 days of antibiotics for 3 different things that showed up, now they want a 3rd test in as many weeks. As much as I like the doctor himself I am not going to deal with office staff like this. I hope to hear his office staff is fired and I will go back at that point. It really is a shame because he is a good doctor and I enjoyed going to him. I am not sure who needs this info, but I was floored to find out just how egregious the care from this PA was. First UTI lab cultures, on average, per the CDC, give a false negative 33% of the time. Next a new culture should not be ordered for at a minimum of 3 days after the last dose of antibiotics and 7 days is the standard minimum recommendation. In other words any clinician ordering labs directly after a course of antibiotics is gas lighting every single person into believing they have some other issue, primarily pelvic floor issues and they recommend bathroom training schedules for pelvic floor issues, so hold your urine despite being told to drink absurd amounts of water so you are very actively making the situation worse and then clinicians wonder why there are resistant strains. "Healthcare professionals" are prescribing low doses that strengthen the resistance and then further increasing the resistance through gas lighting people to hold their pee for hours, I dumfounded beyond belief, just goes to show that you absolutely must do your own research. Is this some sort of bizarre and sick experiment on American women? I also have zero doubt that if this were primarily a male issue that this would not be going on.

Over the years my conditions have flummoxed and bamboozled many specialists before nailing down answers and therapies. Throughout the ups and downs, Dr. Lewis has been a rock solid, effective, thoughtful, and calm partner in my search for answers. He communicates well with me as well as the other doctors and medical specialists that hammer away at my fairly dilapidated body. Dr. Lewis is like an anchor in the storm of craziness that is my health history. As is probably obvious, I like that guy and highly recommend him.

It was finally the last straw for me. The wait time to see a doctor is usually pretty lengthy, if you want to see one of the MDs. But what really disappoints me is how poorly managed the office staff are. They are unfriendly, rude, unorganized, and completely uneducated about the field they are working in. Getting a referral is like pulling teeth, it takes forever and no one calls back. I ran into this problem 4 years ago, and here I am again in a similar situation. It is extremely disappointing they don't get referrals in, in a timely manner. I came to see one of their new NPs. or PAs. I came in on August 3rd for a referral. I was assured the referral would take a couple days but that it would be fine if I made my specialist appointment a week after coming in for the referral. Well, a month later I get a pretty high bill from the specialist office because my referral wasn't sent in until 20-25 days after my initial visit to this office. I am now being billed hundreds of dollars for both visits because I went twice without a referral, which was then billed as out of network. I am now tasked with appealing to my insurance due to this PCP office's inadequacy at running their office.

After waiting for…read moreso long, I stepped out of the room to ask the front desk a simple question because I had an online class I needed to get to. As I was leaving, I saw Dr. Gray walking toward my room. He said he was about to come in, but he already seemed upset and flustered and from the moment he spoke, I could tell something was off. He didn't ask what was going on or why I had stepped out. He didn't give me even a moment to explain how I was feeling. He asked two rushed questions, barely listened to my answers, and shut me down when I tried to speak. He looked in my ears and then told me, with no empathy at all, 'There's nothing we can do. You can call ENT and Google exercises at home.' It felt dismissive, cold, and completely unprofessional. What hurt me the most is that my blood pressure was extremely high dangerously high and he treated it like it didn't matter. I know I have to be responsible for my health, but he is a doctor. Why choose a profession centered on caring for people if you are unwilling to actually care? I was not rude, not difficult, not disrespectful, yet I was treated like an inconvenience. I could have walked out of that clinic in a medical crisis, and he didn't seem to care at all. As I was leaving, he said, 'Your blood pressure is a little high, try not to stress,' and then chuckled. That moment broke me. I felt small, dismissed, and completely uncared for. I work incredibly hard. I'm in school finishing a master's program in clinical mental health. I am not illiterate, I am not unreasonable I was simply asking for help with my health. And Dr. David C. Gray absolutely failed me today. I left feeling angry, sad, and scared. Thank you for taking the time to read this, because he certainly didn't.
