When I came down on my right foot I heard a loud "pop" and felt a tremendous pain in my butt. Turns out I avulsed all three hamstring attachments from my pelvis!! Thankfully I am friends with the former Chargers sports medicine chiropractor so he was my first phone call. He told me, quotation Dr.Tal David is the Best orthopedist!" So I went to Scripps urgent care to have it x-rayed to make sure no bone had dislodged with the attachments. The ER doctor said to me, "I hope you have a good orthopedist, do you?" I told him I had been referred to one but if he knew of one I wanted that referral to. He replied "Dr Tal David is the best in all of San Diego" I can happily report that I am running faster and farther and I'm stronger in every way post surgery. I'm hiking, paddle boarding and doing everything I did before and more. I have also had terrific functional physical therapy and Dr. David recommended a specific one in Encinitas, G3. I wouldn't trust my physical function to any other orthopedist. He is the best of the best.

He is just such a sweet guy too. Very humble and cordial. He is upfront, tells you what to expect upfront and actually see you himself for aftercare and check ups. His team is also fantastic. Caring and they keep everyone up to date on whats happening when your person gets out of surgery, what to expect and what to do. Just all around you feel that everyone is in the best hands. Hands down, I would recommend him every time and I actually do every time someone asks me about a surgeon here, as I also work in the Medical field.

They always answered the phone right away and he was very knowledgeable and easy to work with. He then referred me to the physical therapy office next door and that's where the issues began. Since the first time I called, nobody ever picks up, I called 20+ times in a span of 2 weeks and each time the automated phone system made me listen to a 5 minute message about the history of San Diego Sports Medicine and the different location's phone numbers and then would proceed to hang up on me. The few times it did let me leave a message, nobody ever got back to me. It seems like nobody works at the front desk for some reason. When they finally got back to me, they made an appointment for me with the specific PT that Dr.Koretoff had requested. I was 3 weeks out from the earliest appointment which was not ideal but I had no choice but to wait. When I finally received the appointment reminder the week before the appointment, it said that the appointment will be with someone else, and not the person I had made the appointment with. The person at the front desk even confirmed that it will be with the PT I requested but that's not what they inputted in the system. As a result, I now have to wait another week to start PT. They offered no way to reconcile the situation even though it was their fault, and basically the conclusion was "tough luck, you have to pay for our mistake." In a separate conversation with the front desk again, they were explaining to me the difference between paying out of pocket vs going through insurance. They gave me the out of pocket rate but said that they can't confirm what the cost will be with insurance until I come in so I explained my deductible and the terms on my coverage to get her advice, the answer I got verbatim was "I've explained to you over and over again and it doesn't seem like you're understand so I think I'm wasting my time here." WTF? She only explained to me once, and basically indirectly called me dumb and told me I'm wasting her time? That's no way to talk to any patient especially if I'm being respectful. This is absolutely unacceptable. I don't care if you're having a bad day, you shouldn't be talking to people like that period, let alone if your job is customer service. This is absolutely the worst experience I've ever had with any front desk/customer service. It's like they hate their jobs. Do you guys no vet people before hiring them?

I sought treatment at this clinic for severe right knee pain and left feeling completely dismissed…read more My experience was especially disappointing because I had previously worked with another physical therapist years ago who conducted a thorough evaluation and ultimately referred me to a specialist clinic where I was formally fitted for a custom knee brace for my left knee. That level of care helped me understand my condition and provided a path forward. At this clinic, the evaluation consisted primarily of X-rays and having me walk a few steps back and forth. Based on that minimal assessment, I was told they didn't think anything was wrong. Despite clearly explaining that I suffer from significant knee pain and that my symptoms are affecting my daily life, there was no meaningful attempt to identify the cause, discuss treatment options, evaluate my strength or mobility in depth, or provide any plan for managing the pain. What made the experience even more frustrating was that I specifically told them about my previous knee brace and the circumstances that led to it being prescribed. Rather than exploring whether a similar evaluation or referral might be appropriate for my current right knee issues, I was left sitting for roughly 20 minutes before an administrative staff member came in simply to show me knee brace options they happened to have in stock. To add insult to injury, I paid nearly $150 out of pocket after insurance for what amounted to little more than X-rays, a brief walk across the room, and being shown products for sale. I received no meaningful assessment, no treatment plan, no referral, and no support for the severe knee pain that brought me there in the first place. I came looking for professional medical guidance and a thorough physical therapy assessment. Instead, I felt like my concerns were brushed aside and the focus shifted to selling products rather than understanding why I am experiencing significant pain. Patients deserve to be listened to, evaluated carefully, and given clear recommendations. Unfortunately, my experience was a costly waste of time and money.

Dr. Myers also did not push SDSM's PT service. 5 stars for Dr. Myers. I'd call the staff average. Being nice to them does help. Their billing department and referral departments could use some work, though. I got overcharged, and it took them 5 months to resolve what should have been very simple. Meanwhile, the referral department can be very slooooow, and inflexible. I had requested a different provider, and my PCP agreed to the change. The referral department would not accept the substitution, claiming the doctor did not send them an official referral request. Of course, I don't find this out until after several months after I started with my provider that we didn't have a "legitimate" referral. I still recommend them, but with those caveats.

It all started with a wound on the bottom of my left foot that was growing at an exponentially concerning rate until a referral came in to see Dr. Berger for the issue. The previous podiatrist had spent literal weeks only calling me back in for repeated appointments to "take pictures and measurements" of the wound as it continued to grow unabated. My wife and I both became concerned and decided to ask for a referral to a different podiatrist. That's how I landed into the care of Dr. Berger and his exceptional staff. To be honest, words and descriptions don't do that office justice for the amount of care and expertise that's immediately placed onto a patient when being put into their care. I'm old, been around for nearly 6 decades and know how to "read the room" well enough to know when the air around me is either positive and true or chaotic and negative. The moment I wheeled into that office I started to get a feeling that I'd made the right choice and sure enough, my gut was right. Within minutes I was called back into a room and met Dr. Berger for the first time. I told him what was going on and he immediately went to work on treating the wound! No being told "we'll have to wait for this and that, blah, blah, blah. No excuses from this doctor, nope. He just went to work on the problem and within 20 minutes, he'd treated the area, fitted me with a preformed boot for support, and was given specific instructions to adhere to for the duration of my visits to treat and reduce the wound. Needless to say, my wound was quite large [silver dollar sized, opened to the raw flesh] so it would take several weeks to get it reduced and then x-ray for a permanent solution to the "pressure wound" so it wouldn't repeat itself in the future. In the end, a quick surgery to remove a 5th metacarpal bone from my foot relieved the pressure and it was 100% healed within 2 weeks of the surgery! I'm writing this two months post-op and it's amazing how I cannot even discern where the wound originally was! His talent is special. I'd have to say his level of passion, his dedication to his profession makes me feel that he was born for this work and is a truly wonderful rare find in the medical field these days. If you need a podiatrist that's the "real deal" look no further than Dr. Colby Berger and his staff up at Scripps in La Jolla at the Synergy Building. You won't regret this choice for care!
