I have been a patient of this dental office and always have an excellent experience with the office staff, the hygienist and Dr. Novak. I always feel clean and fresh and today I received a replacement composite filling which improved the look of my front teeth from a bruise injury. I had a tooth filled and when the numbness wore off I found a sharpe edge on the filled area. I called in to see if I could come by and get the sharpe edge removed. They made me a appointment and I went in. It was only a tiny sharp edge to correct. Only needed seconds to correct. Dr Novak was so angry he nearly ground out the repair. His assistant was in tears. She knew he had mistreated me. I told her I would never return and have not! He clearly decided to abuse me for coming back to have it corrected. I went to another dentist and had to pay to have the tooth repair again! BTW have you noticed the only good reviews were from many years ago? Recent ones are all bad. read more

My family and I have been coming to Dr. Novak's dental office for several years now. I recently came for my six month Routine cleaning. The front office and dental staff are always very nice and check in is fairly easy. I arrived about 10 minutes early for my 8 AM appointment and I was called spot on at 8 by my appointment time. The dental assistant engaged in light conversation while getting me set up in the chair helping me feel comfortable. The routine cleaning was executed thoroughly and professionally, with the utmost attention to detail. I was particularly impressed during a deep gum cleaning procedure done at a previous visit. Comparing to my deep cleaning procedure experience from other offices, at Dr. Novak's, it was surprisingly smooth and comfortable with little pain or flooding of water. They did a great job keeping suction going when it needed and is a testament to their expertise and patient care. The office itself is spotless and welcoming with relaxing music playing. A large TV in the main area plays cheerful seasonal content, and a beautiful Christmas tree which adds to the inviting atmosphere around the holidays. The waiting room is stocked with magazines and even an arcade game, making the short wait enjoyable for the young ones or adults who want to game while waiting. So I walk in for my appointment today and there's a sticker on the office window that states "There will be a 3.75% free on all transactions". I ask and am told yes, for any card payment they charge an extra 3.75%. I assume this is to cover their cc cost. I don't ever recall being sent information on this change. Any other local dentist office charging or not charging this fee? If not charging this fee let me know because, after over 20 years, I may be looking for a new dentist. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. David J. Novak for over 9 years. I have always enjoyed coming to his office up until a series of events. I was very hurt and disheartened at how my dental emergency was handled. I came to him on March 24, 2025 just for a cleaning and was informed that I had 2 fillings that needed to be filled. I returned on April 10th to have the fillings completed. By April 24th I returned in excruciating pain. I even told Dr. Novak that my mouth was throbbing. In which he took additional x-rays looked in my mouth and said "it's nothing and the fillings just need to settle in my teeth". I think not with throbbing pain. Then tells me "stick to your regiment" (not knowing what I had been doing to ease the pain). Thankfully I have sense enough to know I shouldn't be taking meds everyday. By Sunday, April 27th I was in so much pain I went to the emergency room praying they could help me with this pain. I also left a message on hid emergency line in which I still haven't received a callback. While at the emergency room I ended up getting a Tramadol shot that cost me $800! On Monday, April 28, 2025 I couldn't go to work due to the pain and had to call another dentist for emergency care. I was seen by another dentist the same day, thank the Lord. I was advised to see an Endodontist that ended up doing a root canal and finding out my tooth was infected! This was upsetting and concerning because I have trusted Dr. Novak all these years with my dental health but yet when I said my mouth was throbbing he did nothing! I believe he could have referred me to someone. I ended up spending $1800 just for the root canal and now I have to have a crown done as well. I believe something went wrong when he did my fillings. I was also placed on an antibiotic for 7 days. Dr. Novak later called me on May 6th after I sent him an email explaining my grief. He called apologizing a number of times and offered to help in any way. I explained that this experience was traumatic and costly. He then told me to bring him the expenses of what wasn't paid after my insurance paid their portion. I did that on May 13, 2025. I got another phone call from Dr. Novak on today, May 14th saying "you need to have a crown done and I can do it for you at no cost" I replied with "I had my crown done yesterday". In which I had and that cost me $1600!! After I told David I had already had a crown done he responds with "that's all I can offer you" and hangs up! I feel as though my health was in jeopardy and wasn't taken seriously. This is very disappointing and a concerning practice. I pray no one else has to go through anything that I experienced under his "care". Please DO NOT GO TO HIS PRACTICE! I will be seeking legal advice! read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. The customer service is horrible. I had a 2pm appointment and was stuck in traffic so I called to see what the grace period was and the lady that answered told me 10 minutes. She informed me that I would still be seen.I arrived at 2:09pm and was taken to the back. When I went I was helped by an older lady who informed me I needed x-rays. This lady did not know how to work anything and had to ask for help for everything. It took her more than 20 minutes to figure out how to work the x-rays. Once she finally figured it out she told me I wouldn't get any cleaning or other services I booked for because she had ran over time. So because she didn't know how to work the xray or anything I didn't get to get what i needed done and what I had an appointment for. The entire staff was rude even doctor david. I was punished because their worker didn't know how to do her job. I had to take off work and was in the dental office from 2:09-3:30pm and all I recieved was one x-ray. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Save your self the trouble. read more

I was a patient of this practice for several years. The night before my recent appointment, my flight home from a work trip was cancelled, requiring me to take a flight home to Greensboro the following day. When this unfortunate situation occurred, my primary focus was securing childcare for my 2 school aged children. The next morning while in the airport, I got the text reminding me of my appointment. When I called the office to inform them of these circumstances that were obviously beyond my control, I was informed I'd be receiving a bill for $100. If you're looking for a practice that places zero value on their patients in difficult circumstances, and treats you as a dollar value and not a person, then this is the practice for you. Update to this review: one hour after speaking with the receptionist, the doctor himself called, irate, to yell at me for breaking the appointment. Note, I am still in the ATL airport at this time. His exact words were "it's fine and dandy" that I don't want to continue as a patient and that I "signed a policy". My only regret is that I ended the call without recording any of this unprofessional and borderline scary behavior. Avoid at all costs. read more

I have been going there for many years, and it was ok to start. I should have moved on, and it has gotten much worse. Loyal just because it was all setup and nearby was not in my best interest. As the Doctor has gotten older, he seems more interested in money and not your care or feelings. Rushed and terse. He seems to be offended if you ask a question about your care! Last trip there, he injected the pain medication and instead of leaving me a few minutes for it to take effect, right to work he went. I tried not to move or complain but that was truly foolish of me. My comfort seems not to be a concern anymore. I survived but decided it was time to seek better care. After a couple of weeks the insurance claim paperwork arrived and he had charged TWICE the allowed amount under the service contract with the insurance company. Since the insurance corrected that it saved me hundreds of dollars on a 30 minute appointment! So if you don't have insurance what will he charge you? If you go there and he wants you to go for a Root canal he will give to a form that earns him a commission on the service that may even add to the cost. One of the employees explained that to me, and I expect the person could be fired for the honesty. Disdain for the profit for the referral offended the employee. I feel the same way as I understand it. Services cost too much already. read more

I came to Dr. Novak's office to have x-rays done recently. The staff is very professional & it didn't take any time to have my x-rays done. When I was preparing to schedule an appointment for a cleaning, the receptionist was able to schedule me for an appointment right then because someone had missed his time frame. I was taken to a room for a cleaning and sent on my way, all in under one hour! I was very impressed with the new technology and lights used at this location. Dr. Novak gave me the best dental experience I have ever had. I am a person who has seen multiple dentists in my life because I hate getting dental work done, and I have never had a good experience, until yesterday! Dr. Novak treated me with understanding, while every other dentist I have ever seen made me feel stupid and ashamed for being super nervous. He walked me through everything he was going to do, and even explained what i would feel while he was doing it. I experienced NO pain and he was very patient with me when i would tighten up. I can honestly say that i have found the dentist I will be seeing from now on. Never been treated so well by anyone in any medical field!! I went to Dr Novak several years ago in desperate need of dental care and very scared to have the work done. He took great care and turned a bad set of teeth into a wonderful set now. He saved all of my teeth with his hard work!! His approach was to use larger fillings when he could to preserve as much of the tooth as possible for as long as we could. He ended up having to do several crowns for me... and after 10 years, they are all still doing great! Highly recommend this dentist! And am grateful for his hard work :) read more

I have visited Dr. Novak's office a few times. I got 2 cavities filled and a cap put on there. The dental assistants and employees are very nice and helpful but I have a problem with Dr. Novak himself. When i got my cavities filled, they had to do extra numbing shots because either it wasn't in the right spot or wasn't enough but i was still in pain when he would try to start working on the filling. Every time I have left his office I was in immense pain from the work that I had done but I figured that was normal for just leaving the dentist. Today is where I draw the line and am changing dentists for good. I had to get my temporary cap taken off and the real on put on. The dental assistant was very nice and caring about how I was feeling. Dr. Novak was not. He came in, shoved the cap on my tooth, gave me no warning that it was going to hurt, and left. Then the dental assistant was flossing around the cap and it fell out and almost choked me. She then proceeded to say she is not as rough as Dr. Novak is and she put my cap in and it barely gave me any pain or trouble. The last appointment I had previous to my traumatizing cap experience, Dr. Novak left bone fragments in my gums which then got infected. I complained about this pain to him but he told me it probably was nothing but if it was still hurting in a month or so he would look into it. I took charge my self and went home and dug the piece of bone out of gum and haven't had pain in my gums since. I do not recommend going to this dentist just from my personal experiences. read more

Very poor customer service. I waited one month for a new patient exam. Was told cleaning had to be scheduled at a separate time. My appt. was cancelled and rescheduled the day prior. after my "exam" which was basically x-rays. I was informed it would be another FIVE MONTHS before I could get in for a cleaning. When I returned 20 minutes later to get copies of my x-rays for another dentist (cleaning within one week) I was told I could have my teeth cleaned immediately. Funny! I was told they are a busy practice and really don't need my business by the hygienist. I'm going elsewhere. read more

awful exp. my wife saw him and was sent to get a root canal. he said it wasnt worth it and recommended to get the tooth pulled. he worked her in, and couldnt pull the tooth and stormed out of the room like a school girl. he was upset that he was loosing money because he couldnt put a crown on the tooth. now me, my wife and 2 kids will look elsewhere. very unprofessional. read more

He does good work, however, don't try to get in on an emergency. If he is out of town at a dental convention he does not provide a backup dentist to help you. It happens that I travel for my job, I contacted the office at 450 on a Thursday afternoon, got vm, left a message, called back Friday morning the office is closed press 2 to reach the doctor. After explaining my situation, the Dr said he would be back Sunday, called the office Sunday (prior to going out of town) pressed 2 to reach the Dr. no call back, received a call the following Monday, at that point I was already out of town. Had to go to a dentist out of town to fix the tooth sensitivity and had to pay. Asked the Dr to reimburse that cost and he declined because if I were in town I could have gotten it fixed. My feel on that is where was your backup dentist, I would not have had to reach out to someone out of town if you provided an alternative to one of your patients. I am so disappointed as nothing shows the office is closed on Friday. read more
