But we were mostly shocked by the estimated cost. Our case is really simple. Neither of us has been married before or has kids. We just wanted our prenup to keep our properties separate and to waive spousal support. David's estimate of the total cost was 10.000$. That is insane! I had read that prenups can be expensive, but this went beyond any estimate I'd seen before. His hourly rate is also pretty high. It's $680/h whereas another attorney I spoke to only asked $400/h. Furthermore, he didn't even tell us to get a second lawyer. We heard later from other attorneys that a prenup must always be drawn up with independent legal counsel for each side.
