Every visit with Dr. Craig is like a visit with a knowledgeable angel. She has radically improved my skin in every way, from removing skin cancers when they were so tiny I didn't need stitches, to preventing future skin cancers. Dr. Craig reads all the latest journal articles. That's how she discovered that Niacinomide, form of Vitamin B3, can play a role in preventing skin cancer. Instead of having a skin cancer three times a year, I haven't had one in about two years! Her manner is awesome. She makes you feel as though the practice revolves around you. She treats you as a friend, not just a patient. I look forward to seeing her and am almost disappointed that I don't have to see her as often because of her excellent care! She's an ace at spotting skin cancers. I've had around 24 of them, and 99 percent of those she spotted turned out to be cancerous. After the first dozen, instead of having to have a biopsy and then come back for a separate procedure, she was able to take them out in one appointment, which is much less expensive and requires no stitches. What's more, she's so kind, I look forward to seeing her. I've met doctors and at least one nurse who were aware of her outstanding abilities and confirmed that she's the one to go to.

I called, explained the situation and the receptionist was nice and sent me a Patient Consent form via email with me authorizing my daughter to be seen. The form states "I hereby grant the Physician permission to treat my child when they arrive at the office unacompanied" Furthermore, I was told her maternal grandmother could attend with her which I added her name to the consent form, though it was not required. My senior parents rushed to accompany my daughter. My daughter has a very challenging schedule with HS Sports and this visit was scheduled some time ago to accomodate that. She rushed after school to get there. She was rejected by the Office Manager and could not be seen. WHY HAVE A CONSENT FORM IF IT IS USELESS? Why ask me to fill it out? Why waste our precious time? We are done here. They lost 2 patients today because of this ineffective office management and not following their own policy. The office manager is in need of training and Dr Goldberg should review her policies and educate her accordingly or seek a staff that knows what they are doing and do not bring an attitude that was so unnecessary. It takes a village and the office staff represents the Doctor and if they cannot do so in good spirit then that is sad. This was the last straw. Moving on....

I went to Dr. Levitt for the first time in June 2013 to address the increasingly irritated skin on…read moremy hands. They were covered in dry red patches and the skin on my fingertips was peeling. I had previously been to another dermatologist at a large practice, and thought that Dr. Levitt could offer me more personal attention. The first practice had prescribed me a powerful corticosteroid that had been partially effective. Dr. Levitt, however, took me off that medication and prescribed an equally powerful corticosteroid that seemed to be much less effective. At a follow-up visit, I mentioned to Dr. Levitt that this treatment did not seem to be working; he just scratched his chin and continued to prescribe the same, less effective medication. After another month, I returned to Dr. Levitt again and received more or less the same response. He put me on a slew of samples, including coal tar, a type of vitamin D cream, and various emollients and told me to alternate the powerful corticosteroid (which hadn't been effective) with an even less effective corticosteroid. He said to me, "I'm running out of things to give you." That was my signal to change providers. At my wit's end, I dug up the original prescription for the corticosteroid that had been effective, applied that for a week or so and finally noticed a huge improvement. However, I had spent months on powerful corticosteroids that had minimal effect, thus thinning and damaging my skin and putting me at risk for corticosteroid addiction. I have since found another dermatologist who took one look at my hands, diagnosed me with palmar plantar psoriasis and performed a biopsy to confirm. We are still waiting for the final confirmation but she has already mentioned a slew of treatment options that never came up in my meetings with Dr. Levitt. Those are the facts. I will also observe this: that Dr. Levitt is almost always available for an appointment, so he should be well-rated in that regard. However, when most dermatologists are booked up for weeks and months in advance while another one is available at any hour of the day, one must wonder why. Perhaps because his office and practice are outdated and his treatment methods are only marginally effective? Indeed, he does not take credit cards and one must remember to bring cash or a check for co-payment, which is expected up front. This is a huge inconvenience and further suggests that Dr. Levitt's approach is behind the times.

As a kid I lived in Guadalajara, Mexico from age 10 to age 17. Guadalajara is almost tropical,…read more5,000 feet elevation and sunny about 80% of the time. It was the 70's and we were not great about sunscreen. I think my nose was burned the whole time. I spend weeks at the beaches on the Pacific without a dab of sunscreen. Being of anglo/irish extraction, this is not really good. I'm paying the price now, but with proper maintenance I can live with it. Every 6 months I have a full body derma exam. That doc burns off the pre-cancerous growths and biopsies the others. When he finds something that needs to be "excised" then I schedule an appointment with Dr. Menaker. Over the last 10 years I have had (I think) 11 surgeries done by Dr. Menaker to remove a variety of cancerous lesions. Most of these were simple excisions on the legs, arms, chest, back but three of them were more complex MOHS surgeries - Ear, Nose and Chest. (I once had someone else do the surgery - but they left a part of a stitch in the wound and it took weeks to work its way out - no more.) First thing to know is that Dr. M. ONLY DOES SURGERY he does not do exams. You will need someone else to do the exams. Here is what I have experienced in his practice: 1. His staff is super capable, pleasant and stable. They have worked there for years and are consummate professionals. 2. Dr. Menaker and his staff communicate with each other very well and are a well oiled team. 3. Dr. Menaker is a really, really good surgeon. Precise, careful, and great stitching. And you don't feel anything. I just had MOHS surgery on my nose and didn't even feel the injection of local anesthesia. 4. The wounds heal quickly and I have never had an infection. 5. The surgical suites always look brand new and are spotless. 6. They laugh a lot. The team working there is good and they enjoy what they are doing. Dr. M. and his team are specialists, they are really good at what they do and they strive for (and I think achieve) excellence. It is rare in today's world. If I ever move away from Chicago area don't know what I will do. Guess I'll have to travel here as needed.

This is for Dr. Menaker's assistant who scheduled a follow up surgery appointment with me due to a…read moreraised scar that appeared. I was told my another dermatologist to go back and have some,thing done about it. The assistant knew my date of surgery, etc. I asked if there would be a charge. If there was a charge I would have not gone. She said " oh, no there is no charge. The follow up is part of the original surgery. We want you to be happy". The doctor saw me for all of 5 minutes, said there is nothing I can do for you. Put makeup on it. Shortly thereafter, I received a bill for $130. I called the office and spoke to the same woman who said she was one who made appointment. Now it was a whole different story. She denied saying there would be no charge. I am neither stupid nor deaf and I truly wish I had a recording of the conversation. It seems she does not know what she is doing.

While he was friendly, he didnt eliminate my acne. The areas of acne he injected reduced the swelling, but then it got worse two days later. Furthermore, I just got the bill from my insurance, and what I thought would only be a $35 copay ended up being $100 because I was charged for the injection, and even the solution they used on me! If I had known, I would have refused to injection. During this visit, the doctor told me he was going to have me use a 20% benzoyl peroxide lotion and that I could get it from the receptionist. Apparently this lotion is homemade and costs $35 out of pocket (not covered by insurance at all and the office takes all the profit). This lotion is no joke, it will burn your face off. I was also prescribed Doryx which would be approximately $300 with my insurance coverage. The doctor gave me some coupon that reduced it to $25 (but I had to call to activate the coupon by giving all my personal info). The worst part was the pills didnt work!!! They were huge and hard to swallow, even when cut in half. I looked up Doryx online and it says for acne, it must be taken for 12 weeks. Seriously? Three months of an antibiotic?? I've been to many dermatologists and it never took that long to clear my face with antibiotics. He was probably trying to promote the medicine to get $$ out of it. I went to my regular doctor last week and asked for help with my face since Dr. Johnson didnt do it for me. My doctor prescribed me some pills and within days I've noticed a difference. The cost of the medicine with my insurance? $5!!!!! Next time I'm not going to a specialist. I wont be back here again.

His assisting nurse was very good at applying the procedure. As always the results were good. The office staff were great in helping me obtain copies of my medical insurance cards which I misplaced when I came for treatment. They saved my wife and I from stressing out. The situation was resolved. All went well and we left with a smile.. My service dog Red after getting a few pats from the staff left with his tail wagging happley.
