After the first visit I was hopeful but when a couple treatments didn't work for my son she said his condition was just genetic and didn't have any other recommendations on what to do. After pressing more, she said we could get another opinion. I'm so glad I did! We went to Northwestern Dermatology and it turns out it's psoriasis. We got the right medication and after just a few days it made a huge difference. I think Dr. Goldberg is knowledgeable on a surface level but for our deeper issue wasn't willing or able to find out the root cause. read more

Dr Goldberg is fine and has treated my twin girls effectively but we can no longer return here due to the front office staffing ineffectiveness. Today i missed my train and could not go with my almost 18 yr old daughter to her consultation. I called, explained the situation and the receptionist was nice and sent me a Patient Consent form via email with me authorizing my daughter to be seen. The form states "I hereby grant the Physician permission to treat my child when they arrive at the office unacompanied" Furthermore, I was told her maternal grandmother could attend with her which I added her name to the consent form, though it was not required. My senior parents rushed to accompany my daughter. My daughter has a very challenging schedule with HS Sports and this visit was scheduled some time ago to accomodate that. She rushed after school to get there. She was rejected by the Office Manager and could not be seen. WHY HAVE A CONSENT FORM IF IT IS USELESS? Why ask me to fill it out? Why waste our precious time? We are done here. They lost 2 patients today because of this ineffective office management and not following their own policy. The office manager is in need of training and Dr Goldberg should review her policies and educate her accordingly or seek a staff that knows what they are doing and do not bring an attitude that was so unnecessary. Over 30 minutes past when my appointment was scheduled for, I asked the woman at the front desk when the doctor was planning to see me and I was told she was running behind and that there were still two other patients ahead of me. Not returning after yesterday's appointment!! I really fell for the ratings I saw online, unfortunately didn't hold up to my expectations... From the minute I walked in, the receptionist was not very friendly, you could tell she was all business, cold, not interested, as busy as she was, she could've been more friendly. Also, the office seems very dark, creepy, not a happy place. You get that negative vibes from the office staff, the office itself and Dr. Goldberg as well,... unfortunately. The nurse who was checking me in was ok., again could have been more upbeat. She is the reason I'm giving this business one star, otherwise it's a zero. Dr. Goldberg clearly was not interested in me as a new patient, after a very abrasive hello, not a smile, I felt like she didn't want to waste a minute of her time on me, my issues, or get to the bottom of the problem. I have had multiple basal cell cancers. Getting a skin check appointment is difficult. The doctors make money by number of procedures. I went to a new Doctor, Julie Goldberg, who confirmed that I had another basal cell on my lower leg. When I went in to have it removed she advocated for a procedure called burn and scrape, said patients liked it better. Weeks later it is oozing and painful. With an excision and stitches this is a 7 to 10 day healing. They told me today that it could take 6 or more weeks to heal. The others in the office are nice, but this doctor must be padding her bill or is just stupid. The nurse I saw today told me that the lower leg has the longest healing time. Why would the doctor talk me into this awful procedure? On another note, her picture on line is at least 20 years old. What is that about? Please find another doctor. read more

Three words: straight up professionalism. Dr. Julie Goldberg is an exceptional dermatologist that I have been visiting for the past year and a half for various skin issues. She is the type of doctor who holds a high standard for patient care, and it's obvious in the way that she treats her patients. There are certain doctors out there that I'm sure we've all encountered. You know, the snappy kind who seem like they're in a rush to catch the next train, and they dart out of your room like it's being quarantined for the next resurgence of the bubonic plague. Dr. Goldberg never makes me feel rushed, and she thoroughly and kindly answers any questions that I have. Dr. Goldberg also produces effective results for procedures that she performs. I've had a mole removed which felt like nothing, despite the fact that it was fairly large and I needed stitches. Oh, and I was also blessed with a lovely abcess right in between my butt cheeks last year; (my jewish luck, as my mother says, no mazel-tov for that one). It was so painful I could barely sit down, and I had no clue what on earth it was. (Some may say tmi, but hey, I'm an open book #YOLO?!) I called the office and got an appointment that day. Dr. Goldberg was able to drain satan's birthmark to the point where I was comfortable sitting and driving an hour after my appointment. The nurses are extremely kind, and her office offers various cosmetic treatments using natural ingredients, just ask her and she'll be more than happy to explain. heads up: if you make an appointment and don't show up/fail to reschedule 24h before your appointment you will be charged a fee. Makes sense though, to keep people from ditching and wasting their space. The service was fine for my simple problem but I was really surprised at the cost. I have a top-shelf Blue Cross policy but sometimes I have to pay a small amount over what is covered. But at this place I paid quite a bit. From the bills I have to say I don't even understand if my insurance only paid them one third -- or nothing at all (i.e., maybe one third was waived). I was at the office there for 15 minutes and the total bill was about $650. The visit was $195, the quick removal of a benign little spot was another $208 and the biopsy of the removed stuff was another $250. That's about $650 and my out-of-pocket costs came to about $425. read more

Dr. Goldberg is amazing! I have been seeing her for over a year and she has been treating my psoriasis and eczema. When I first started seeing her (before my diagnosis) she was very thorough and paid real close attention to my symptoms, my allergies, daily activities, everything and she has been able to pinpoint all of my breakouts. She's really good about providing me with samples to try or giving me discount cards on my prescriptions to help me save money. I have had a number of "urgent" calls because of my breakouts and it has always been very easy to go in and see her. She is really knowledgeable and knows what she's doing/recommending. She shows concern and is dedicated in figuring out the best possible solution for your condition. The staff was also great! They are always a pleasure to work with. Dr Julie Goldberg is my own personal miracle dermatologist. She was recommended to me by one of my friends who was fighting rosacea for years with different doctors and dr Goldberg helped her successfully. Here is why I would recommend her: 1. IT WORKS! I came to her with the nastiest acne I have ever seen on my face (my skin is prone to acne but this was much worse and really noticeable - I'll spare you the details:) ). I was prescribed oral and topical antibiotics, could tell difference after one month, everything was gone after two months, and now, month three, I am finishing up the antibiotics. 2. ON-SITE AESTHETICIAN - Dr Goldberg works closely with Maria, her esthetician, on her patients. Both of them checked my skin during the monthly check-up to make sure I'm improving. Yes, the procedures (facial, microderm etc.) are slightly more expensive than I've seen elsewhere, but I think the continuous and cooperated work is definitely worth it. Your skin is treated from all direction and so you get the best results possible. 3. THEIR OWN PRODUCTS - I understand Sarah P.'s impression that she was talked into buying their products. I felt that way too, the first time I went. But I decided I wanted the doc to have full control over my skin - what if the products I used so far caused my skin problem in the first place? I also looked up their line - Eminence (organic, for those of you who care) - on Amazon and most products get a really good rating. In the end though, you can always say "No, thank you" and keep using your own products. 4. Friendly staff - I always enjoy being there, front desk ladies greet me with a smile and make me feel welcome. Their nurses are also friendly and helpful. Sometimes I have to bring my little girl with me and it is never a problem. I work retail, so first let me say that getting an appointment that fits my schedule is key. I was able to do that easily and as a millennial I do like the email updates and the reminders. I went in for some bumps on the back of my head and the sudden hair loss I experienced since getting married two years ago :) The front desk lady was very nice and I am big on being greeted with a smile which always helps make the nervousness go away when coming to a new office or coming in for something that could be scary. Office had a nice sitting area and a tv, was able to catch up on the news while I waited (I arrived early as my dad was a dentist and I know how it can throw a wrench in the day when one person shows up late so I try not to be that guy). Was taken into a room by a very helpful nurse lady, asked the typical/basic questions that they always ask. Friendly and easy. Was pleasantly surprised that the doctor came in shortly after I had answered those questions. I'm pretty used to having to wait quite a bit of time at dr offices but at this office she was in the room within 1-2 minutes after the nurse left. Again greeted with a smile and let me do a lot of talking to explain what I was concerned about and looking for. I'm a type of guy that wants to know everything and also does the research before hand so I came equipped with questions. She answered them and also gave me some different perspectives which I appreciated. At the end of the day I was very pleased with my visit and service, it fit my needs and I am sure it's length is dependent on what you're going in for, if it was something more serious I'm confident i would get the same great service. It was a TERRIBLE experience. I do NOT recommend it to anyone! First thing - she was interested more about my small mole than my problem I asked her about. She asked really stupid questions about it. She wasn't interested about what I am saying and she did not look all over my body. I'd say, she did not look at all. She talked about sunscreen, moles and other things. NOT AT ALL ABOUT MY PROBLEM. What a waste of my time and money. Second thing - we did some lab tests. Julie said it costs me around $200 so I payed it. Next thing - I am getting a letter from the lab that I owe them $450 for test. Is that a joke?! Seriously? Also... It's a small thing but I have never seen any doctor who has long, loose hair. I changed jobs and needed to find a new dermatologist. Dr. Goldberg's stellar reviews on this Yelp page drew me in but unfortunately didn't live up to my lofty Yelp expectations. During my first visit, I was turned off by the attempts to sell me products that can only be found in her office - aesthetic services, vitamins, cleanser and even topicals. I've been going to a dermatologist since I was 15 and I don't think I've ever had a doctor try to sell me that much in house product on my first visit. These were not things that I asked about but were instead offered/suggested. Still, I wanted to be fair and give the office a second chance. On my second visit the most appalling overall was the behavior I observed of the woman at the front desk. She was clearly talking trash about someone to another staff member. I made it obvious that I could tell what she was doing (thinking that she would have the sense to stop - there were other patients there), and she just hid farther behind the wall so I couldn't see her and continued this conversation. At least moving muffled her trash talking. I'm still confused about what took place during the remainder of my follow-up visit. The purpose was to have the doctor perform some minor extractions and I've had these done numerous times. When I reminded her of the purpose of my visit, she said the marks weren't what she thought they were initially, then minutes later, in another light they were, then she tried to do the extraction to see what would happen and then it wasn't again and then again it was but they were difficult to get out. After some poking and prodding she asked me if I wanted to continue and I asked that she stop. For obvious reasons, I didn't want to continue when there's this much uncertainty. As it turns out, this visit was a waste of time as I was just in 3 or 4 weeks earlier. Then we discussed treatment for my acne. I had two minor pimples and have been treated for acne my entire life. Earlier she said my skin looked "pretty good". I've gone through most of the topicals and antibiotics out there and been on Accutane 3 times. She then asked me if I wanted to go on Accutane again. This was my tipping point. I've definitely had skin that needed Accutane in the past. I do not need it presently. This is the first time I even broke out since my treatment several years ago. Accutane is an absolute last resort and not something you suggest on a second visit to someone whose skin you described earlier as looking "pretty good". I admit that I am extremely sensitive about my skin and was offended by the suggestion. But Accutane is a big deal (monthly blood tests, regular appointments) and a last resort only recommended when you know the patient better when all else with the patient fails. Bonnie was absolutely fantastic during both of my visits but given my negative experiences here, I will not be back. read more

Dr. Goldberg is the most unprofessional dermatologist I have ever met. Been to different dermatologists for the last 17 years, so I know a good doctor when I see one. First she tried to push her personal product line, not cool. Never feel pressured to by a derms' line, there are plenty of alternatives. While speaking to me, she asked which meds I was currently taking for acne. After I told her, she decided that she would change my entire routine, and put me on different pills. Not smart. I have much more experience with these meds than she does, and I know what works. She didn't listen to anything I said AND she did all this, without even looking at me! I had a gown on, and she didn't even look at my skin. My former dermatologist moved her office downtown. So I will pay more for the commute, parking, and traffic, and see my former doctor, than see this woman. Ironically I vaguely remember her in another location about 15 years ago, and after 1 visit back then, I thought she was so unprofessional I walked out. When I saw her enter the exam room the memories of her came back. Funny how some people never change. Also, another reader made comments about the lack of professionalism from the staff. She is not a doctor you may expect. At the first visit she gave me about 20 seconds of her time and went to another patient. She misdiagnosed my condition. I got wrong medications and wrong brochures to read at home. Next time she was rude when I asked too many questions. She said I should be grateful because she's giving me free samples. I avoided her as long as I could but my dermatitis got worse and I had to make an appointment again. I couldn't use any more steroid creams because they gave me serious side effects (eye retinopathy) so she said there was nothing she could do for me and sent me home. During Covid and with a family member possibly compromised, I don't venture out often and usually only when necessary. I had been going to Dr. Goldberg for years until my insurance no longer covered her services. When that changed, I went to see her for a few issues. It had been years but I recalled my visits being positive experiences. The front office was pleasant & the assistant was okay. While I understand that there are patients waiting and they need to move along, it could have been a better experience. Once Dr. Goldberg arrived, I tried to create a little bit of a light-hearted conversation. One to engage & two, maybe, out of discomfort for having to be out. She was dismissive all the way. When I brought up something I thought I had remembered about my last visit, she purposely went through my history while checking dates if looking to prove me wrong. Before she left the room, rather than seriously addressing my discomfort, I felt like she couldn't wait to get out of the room. She mumbled a couple of suggestions, walked out of the room, not even looking at me. Dr. Goldberg is the best. I have gone to her for many years, mostly for small matters. Dr. Goldberg did a (painless) a biopsy early 2014 showing possible t cell lymphoma. The biopsy result was wishy washy. I went to a clinic in downtown Chicago, that specializes in this condition. They looked at me, didn't do another biopsy, and I was told it was 95% unlikely to be this disease. They were to look at Dr. Goldberg's slides and get back to me and they did not reply to what they saw, until I persisted 4 months later. I give them the benefit of the doubt because they are a busy place. Dr Goldberg suggested we do another biopsy and it was positive for this condition. Now she is treating it. She cares, she is attentive, smart and kind. I also had a friend who had a problem and I recommended Dr. Goldberg, and she, (although she was a new patient), was seen right away The kind of service you get from Dr. Goldberg and her staff is outstanding. After trying to get an appointment with other dermatologists that has been recommended by friends in the area, and finding that appointments were booking a year out, I called around and was able to get in fairly quickly to see Goldberg. After my visit, I understand why it was easy to get in to see her. First of all, her assistant walked me through a million questions that I had already answered online (they insist you create an online profile and fill out all forms in advance). The assistant didn't make eye contact and was cold and uncaring. When Goldberg came into the room, she spent less than ten minutes and didn't actually seem to take me seriously about my concerns. She was of course interested in whether I would come back in three weeks for another appointment when she basically told me nothing was wrong. She was, in my opinion, not concerned at all about me as a patient. Also, not only was her assistant in the room the whole time, but another girl going through training was there the whole time as well. It was the most awkward experience I have ever had at a doctor's office. They definitely made me feel like I was inconveniencing them by being there. Acne: Over the last six years, we have been to numerous dermatologists trying to get my daughters skin clear. Dr. Goldberg's warm and inviting office was welcoming and professional.
