When filing as a freelancer on 1040ES, you're supposed to pay quarterly estimates. Repeatedly over the 3 years I used Marc, he told me as long as I paid ALL of the estimated taxes by the final due date as opposed to quarters, I'd be ok and not be fined. Well I'm sitting here at 3 years since using Marc and now I have received fines from the IRS for 2 of the years I used his services. Luckily I've switched to someone else who told me I should 100% be paying quarterly and no fines so far. And also saving a couple hundred on prep costs. I cannot recommend Marc's tax prep services for this reason. If you're cutting corners on taxes it'll end up costing you in the end. I gave Marc an extra star just because he was a nice and pleasant guy but fines speak louder.

I had a sensitive and unique issue that could only be addressed by a CPA. But not just any CPA, I needed someone that was knowledgeable and would be able to defend their work in case of an audit. After searching around, I came across Ahad & Co and what a relief and blessing they are. I simply called them, explained my issue, then I was connected with one of their professionals. The CPA confirmed that it was something they could tackle and we began the process. At the time, I was working with Tarikur, an absolute treasure to work with! He explained what needed to be done, asked all pertinent questions, and guided me thru the process. In the end, I came back with an awesome refund, and greater than that, I had a peace of mind with regard to my situation. Fast forward to 2026, I did not hesitate to have them prepare my taxes again. Unfortunately, Tarikur is no longer there, but I was assisted by Akram. There were some delays but he completed my taxes before the deadline and his did a great job preparing everything. I found it very easy to review my return and understand his rationale for his preparation. Furthermore, I received a great return again and I could not be more pleased! Aside from my experience with the staff, I really appreciate their customer portal. There is no need to email anything because you can upload all of your documents to their secure portal. You can also chat with your rep, pay your invoices, and download your returns, all in one place. I especially appreciated that as a returning customer, all my documents were there, so Akram was able to see what was done last year. Super efficient! In terms of pricing, they will seem high if you are used to doing your own taxes or maybe you've gone to a local tax preparer. However, it's important to understand that these are true tax experts who can navigate any situation, so you're in good hands. If you are dealing with a sensitive tax situation and want a peace of mind, I highly recommend using them. I will definitely be returning in the future, even if I do not have a sensitive situation, as I truly appreciate their service. Thank you Ahad & Co.!

I reached out to them months later inquiring about the filing for another matter and they casually informed me they never filed them. They offered plenty of excuses, blamed me for filing them within the legal submission parameters (i.e. on/by April 15th), and offered zero compensation for their egregious error. They actually proceeded to charge me the full amount to file and even expected me to pay the late-filing & extension fees that I incurred as a direct and sole result of an accounting firm's inability to file taxes! Every single representative I have dealt with is allergic to accountability and deals exclusively in excuses. Shameful and unprofessional behavior all around... especially from Edderkys Gonzalez and the ceo, Ahad Ali. He is full of excuses all while admitting they screwed up. They offered $100 off of preparation service for this year...I immediately declined. Then they offered $200 off and I immediately declined. That is a fraction of what they cost me already from last year in late penalties alone and the ceo told me the absolute most he could discount tax preparation at his own company was $200. Clearly a lie. He's the ceo of a small, private, company...not the ceo of Goldman Sachs.

Over the past three years, Medows put more preparation burden on his customers (requiring completion of lengthy, convoluted forms which I've never had to prepare for a tax PREPARER before), while complaining that our taxes took a long time to complete. We had to check their work for errors. We learned to expect inaccurate answers and incomplete research when we did have questions - and often completed the research ourselves. He was very helpful when we had a shift in our income/expenditure situation three years ago. Hence two stars. But then our taxes got very simple for two years in a row. A few months ago, I asked for an itemized bill for last year's expenses and/or a fair estimate for this year's work. I was told we were too much work, and it wasn't worth his time to retain us as customers - no answer, no transparency. This is probably par for the course in tax preparation, and there's nothing particularly bad about this service. But there's nothing particularly good either. We'll spend as much time preparing our own taxes this year as we did preparing and checking Medows' work last year, and we'll save $335. For even mildly intrepid souls, I recommend using a tax accountant only when you have a big change in financial circumstances, and in between just use TaxAct.com and a couple of calls to the IRS. It's really not that hard.

Throughout 2019 I have maintained contact with this firm and convinced that not only my past issues totally resolved but that we also have taken the appropriate action to avoid any potential future problems. Important topics like depreciation, depreciation recapture, and proper land vs. building allocation were never clearly explained, leaving me exposed to potential tax implications without understanding the full picture. When I later asked for my depreciation schedule, I was questioned about why I needed it or interested in this topic now rather than simply being provided my own records. That response alone was both unprofessional and concerning.
