The page indicates that consultations are available, but when I called I was told they are not taking new patients.

When a patient is referred to your practice, it is typically with the expectation of receiving medical assistance and having their concerns addressed. I sought your office for pain management, specifically to help alleviate my discomfort. I have undergone a total left knee replacement and five additional surgeries, which have limited my range of motion to 74 degrees. I am currently attending physical therapy twice a week to improve my mobility. I am experiencing pain, swelling, and fluid in my knee. Despite this, your primary concern appeared to be regarding the medication I am prescribed, which is indeed for pain. Had you thoroughly reviewed my medical records, you would have understood my complete history, which would have explained my inability to take the medication you suggested. Your recommendation to take Tylenol felt dismissive and unhelpful. I felt that I was not truly heard, nor did I perceive a genuine concern for my well-being as a patient. I left your office questioning the purpose of my visit, and I believe no patient should ever feel this way. I am not merely a statistic or someone seeking drugs; I am a patient experiencing chronic pain due to unforeseen complications from my surgeries. It seemed as though the focus was on a general approach to patient care rather than an individualized assessment of my specific needs.

While the clinic is supposedly under the supervision of Dr.Yang I ended up seeing a Resident Who I believe wishes he were somewhere else. At the end of the visit Dr. Yang comes in, offering a few words, and departs. Don't remember him discussing the case. The experience was disappointing. Fast forward a year.... My back is worse and I am having Sciatic problems. Can't take NSAIDS so I am stuck with Prednisone....not good! I visited my primary care doctor and attempted to make an Ortho appointment. It seems that as I prior walked into the Otho Clinic I can't use it again and I am eternally locked to Dr. Yang as my Orthopedic Physician. Dr. Yang is an elusive fellow. Takes months to get an appointment. Online there is no way to "remove" Dr. Yang and make an appointment (hopefully sooner) with a different specialist. Last I looked appointments with the elusive Dr. were 2 months into the future. I know there are other Orthopedists. I would travel to Westwood if that was the only way to gain a near future appointment. A few words about UCLA care in general. While it is a teaching hospital with all the latest and greatest treatments it does have problems. They have, over the past years tried to bulk up outpatient flow by taking in additional Primary Care doctors. What they haven't done is to bulk up ancillary services and the availability of specialists. SO....for an x-ray or other outpatient need you end up being scheduled a month later. In the case of orthopedics try/ 2 months to gain an appointment. This is not customer based good medical care.

Yes the wait is long and yes office staff not warm (staff generally in medical industry is a problem) and yes because Dr Yang is busy is because he is premier at what he does. I came in not like a social visit because busy doctors like to focus and solve an issue. I provided my MRI results, medical records, and with just a few questions pros and cons based on my research and neurosurgeon advice. Dr Yang gave a better recommended shot (also without oblation ...means to not cutting nerves). . It's a temporary shot to reduce inflammation to help heal and manage pain. The surgical staff is amazing!. I woke up without pain Doctor personally after shot visited and instructed to rest a week, no gym lifting ... just light walking , and no driving for month or minimally. On 3rd month follow up visit I was able to drive 45 minutes without pain. Dr Yang then recommended pain management and therapy and a sleep number bed to support my back which he also uses. I can drive an hour now but always have to walk afterwards for my collagen issue situation. Now able a light gym workout, bike and walk again... enjoy life. He is very rare for his age and gifted... a truly vocational doctor that I also recommended to partner with my Neurosurgeon Dr Liker.

Dr DeLeon was fantastic and only set appointments every 3 months and would fill prescriptions only as needed and when requested. Fast forward to the current situation. After DeLeon left, he was replaced by Dr Ono who seems competent but insists on appointments much more frequently when it isn't necessary. I believe the Synovation group is putting the screws on doctors to maximize profits. I just received a "reminder" that I had an appointment the following day even though nothing was scheduled by me. When I called to find out about this "appointment", I learned it was to send a prescription to my pharmacy for an order I didn't even request. They are BILLING INSURANCE for an appointment that isn't even an appointment! They want to get paid for a full appointment so they can do this every month. I don't take pain medicine just to take it. That means I don't even need more each month. I have no desire to become dependent on pain medication. This practice is so unbelievably shady, I can't even express my feelings fully without fear of using some extremely colorful language shall I say. I don't know why Synovation thinks this is acceptable but if it continues, I'm gone. I DO NOT recommend this company to anyone the way they are currently conducting business. I would not be surprised if they are investigated soon because this is insane.

After two consultations, he gave me a painkiller injection in my lower back. Dr. Arita's diagnosis was accurate, and thanks to him, I have improved to an amazing extent. Also, when I had the injection in my lower back, the procedure was done in the doctor's office, so I didn't have to go to another hospital, which was very convenient. Also, two nurses were by my side all the time, holding my hand. The doctor also talked to me about various things, which helped me relax as I was scared of the injection, which was very reassuring. I live in OC, so it's a little far, but Dr. Arita carefully considers the treatment options, so I think he's a trustworthy doctor. He doesn't make me go back in for many times. First, he listens to me, identifies the area that hurts, prescribes the appropriate medicine, and if that doesn't work, he tells me the next treatment. Then, after I get better, he introduces me to physical therapy and releases me from my own consultation, so I don't have to go there unnecessarily. If I ever have any pain in the future I won't hesitate to go to him.

My appointment was scheduled for 1:00 PM for ongoing pain that I had already waited weeks to address. I arrived on time and got brought into the examination room and sat there until 2:30 PM before finally leaving because Dr. Tondravi never showed up. During that entire hour and a half, I was first told he was at lunch, then later told he was 'on a call,' which conveniently kept me waiting under the assumption he'd be in any minute. No one was honest about how long the delay would be, and no one offered me the courtesy of rescheduling. Apparently my time and pain were not important enough to warrant basic communication. At 3:43 PM, nearly three hours after my scheduled appointment, I received a voicemail from Dr. Tondravi apologizing (after I filed a complaint with UCLA) and explaining he had been on an insurance call for another patient. While advocating for a patient is certainly part of the job, it's ironic to champion patient care while simultaneously showing complete disregard for another patient sitting in pain in your waiting room. To make matters worse, as I was leaving after waiting 90 minutes without being seen, his staff still stopped me to ask about my copay, which felt like a fitting end to an already unacceptable experience. The issue wasn't that he was delayed. The issue was the arrogance of assuming a patient should sit indefinitely with no transparency while his office offered excuse after excuse. For someone in healthcare, the lack of respect, communication, and professionalism was staggering.
