Dr Wu gave me my life back. After another doctor did minimally invasive back surgery that resulted in an infection in my spine, I was left with severe pain, was hospitalized for 7 days and could not walk unaided. They sent me home on over 200mg of morphine. Other doctors seemed disinterested in me and what I was facing. Not Dr Wu. From day one, it was all about restoring my health and addressing my pain. Even when I was ready to throw in the towel several times, Dr Wu never did. I've seen many doctors over my years on the face of this earth but none have shown me the respect and care that doctor Wu has. A few months ago, my wife woke up in the morning and started to complain about the pain in her neck and shoulder. By mid morning, she could barely raise her arms and was crying from the pain in her neck. I asked a few of my friends and they referred me to Dr. Wu. To my surprise, I was able to make an appointment that afternoon. Dr. Wu examined my wife's neck, posture, and arm movement and suggested to perform three nerve blocks on both sides of her neck. My wife never had any surgical procedures done and was extremely scare of needles being inserted in her neck. Dr. Wu was very patient and explained the procedure in detail by drawing out diagrams on a piece of paper. After the consultation and some deliberations, we decided to move forward with the procedure. The fact that Dr. Wu had a surgery room inside his practice was very convenient as everything was done in a single visit. The hospital and the surgery room were immaculate. There were not many patients at the office and this was a big plus for privacy conscious patients like us. The entire procedure took just under an hour, with a short 10 minute break in between to change side. Dr. Wu was extremely skilled in his craft, as my wife mentioned that she could sense that Dr. Wu inserted the needles to place the nerve blocks in a swift manner, never having to readjust along the way. The next morning, my wife woke up feeling less pain in her neck and shoulder and within 3-4 days, she was moving around as if nothing had happened. Recently, my wife did her annual check up and got an MRI done on her neck. The MRI results confirmed that she had protruding disks in the C4 and C5 blocks of her neck and this was the root cause of her pain earlier. The MRI results also confirmed the diagnosis that Dr. Wu had concluded from our visit. We returned to Dr. Wu's office to show him the MRI results and he spend some time to explain the aging process in the neck and suggested that the purchase of ComforTrac as well as improved posture for rehab. We were very fortunate to have gone to Dr. Wu's office when my wife started experiencing the pain in her neck. I can't say enough good things about my experience. After going through what seemed like an endless line of massage therapists, personal trainers, and (too my utmost chagrin) a chiropractor; nothing seemed to relieve my lower back pain, which was beginning to negatively affect my everyday life and physical wellness. Then I found Dr. Wu on Yelp. Moved by all the positive press, I went to meet him. He spoke clearly and scientifically (my preference) about what he thought I may have, and thus his suggested course of action. He saw invasive surgeries as an absolute last resort, with which I agreed. All in all, I was confident in following his recommendations. Two months and a few small procedures later - I'm many times better than before. My discomfort hasn't disappeared completely (we knew this would be the case), but I'm able to go to the gym regularly, and can move about more freely without needing an ice pack constantly like I used to. I'm happy to have gone to Dr. Wu, and I will always appreciate how he struck a great balance between doctor and friend whenever we communicated; it made the whole process so much more natural. At first I really liked Dr. Wu, he seemed to know right away what my issue was and I thought it was too good to be true (it was). He didn't take any X-ray, didn't bother to look at my previous reports, didn't send me to get an MRI, basically just looked at my hand, and decided within 2 minutes it was tendonitis. I thought it a little strange and should have followed my gut. He gave me a corticosteroid shot on the spot, and I was out within 15 minutes. I asked him if I needed to baby my hand or take special care of it, and he kept saying, "Nope, you're gonna be cured!" I went back in two weeks for a follow-up, to which he gave me a second shot. I felt great after that, however, he failed again to tell me I should still be careful with my hand since steroids are NOT a cure all. My hand ended up getting WORSE because he failed to tell me not to do anything strenuous with it, then he acted surprised I did that the third time I saw him. He gave me a third shot, all within a span of two months. Every other doctor and medical website highly advises against too many steroid shots in a short period of time. I even asked him this, and he confidentially shook his head that it's not true. My hand still got worse. I went to another doctor, who sent me to an MRI, and then told me I very obviously did NOT have tendonitis at all, and that, yes, it was way too many shots way too quickly. I have been seeing a physical therapist since then which has helped more than steroid shots ever will. Be careful of this guy, he's trigger happy with the injections and acts like he cares, but it all feels like a scam to get money (my insurance showed his bills to be insane for only 15 minutes of his time each time.) Especially since I got a copy of my report and there were extensive details on my papers about exams he did on me that actually DIDN'T HAPPEN from him. Seems so shady, and I'm sure this is something I can report him on. Anyway, wanted to warn you all to be careful of these 5 Star reviews. EDIT: Added a photo of the very obvious damage he did to my right hand, which is STILL HEALING now. Every physical therapist, doctor and even an acupuncturist I've seen have looked at me in sheer shock that he gave me so many cortisone shots at once. STAY AWAY. EDIT in response to the office's reply to my review: Yes, I understand that steroid injections are meant to relieve inflammation. I don't appreciate the office trying to explain away the issue when the doctor was clearly at fault. As I've said in detail above, the problem is not the steroid injections, the problem is Dr. Wu's sheer lack of irresponsibility as a medical professional a) to let the patient know that the injection is NOT a cure to the problem, and just because inflammation is reduced does NOT mean the patient can immediately resume regular activities prior to injury -- which is exactly what he told me: that I am "cured" and "don't need to baby it." and b) in rushing the steroid injections and giving TWO separate shots, two weeks apart. Doctors need to wait at least 6 weeks between shots, and no more than 3 shots can be given in one year, and he gave me 3 shots within 2 MONTHS. Do the math. I even asked him about these and expressed my concerns about the risks and he COMPLETELY denied it. Every doctor and medical professional I've seen since then have shaken their heads, looked at me with complete shock and said he was beyond irresponsible and wrong to do this. [I don't write Yelp reviews often, but the treatment was so amazing, that I'm compelled to document it.] Dr. Wu saw my girlfriend who re-injured her lower back when she herniated her disc doing jumping squats with her trainer. She was in so much pain that she could hardly walk a few paces, and he did everything (short of a house call) to get her relief and on the path to recovery. Upon visiting his facility (which looks pristine and state-of-the-art as another review mentioned), you could tell his practice was very professional. The consultation was next level, where we not only learned the details of what happened, but also the potential risks with various avenues of care. Weighing all of the options, my girlfriend decided to get a targeted epidural in Dr. Wu's on-site operating room, and in under an hour, she had her procedure, pain prescription, MRI instructions, and was mobile again. The MRI came back as only a protrusion (not an extrusion), and Dr. Wu explained over the phone that the extent of the protrusion was minimal and could be recovered via physical therapy (and that additional treatments from him would NOT be necessary). He then gave us specific instructions and a copy of the MRI to give to the physical therapist, and sent us on our way! Dr. Wu was very friendly and inviting. Best experience at a doctor's office. I came in for tendinitis and he was very helpful in explaining to me exactly what was going on with my hand/wrist. I know nothing about medicine and he was able to explain it in a way I could understand. Setting up the appointment was very clear and easy. I've never felt so comfortable at a doctor's office before. Dr. Wu was prompt with our appointment and I didn't have to wait long to be tended to. The facilities is amazing. I recently had the opportunity and pleasure to be seen by Dr. Wu. I've had nagging knee pain since my Army days of jumping out of airplanes and all the mileage from running really hard for the 13 years after getting out of the Army. I always thought it wasn't a big deal and had the soldier mentality of sucking it up and driving on. Well, in the past few years my knee pain has gotten worse and my ability to run as hard and often as I've liked to has been hindered dramatically. My current government career also requires mobility and being fairly physically active so I decided to give in and see Dr. Wu based on a family friend's recommendation. Boy am I glad I did! I'm also regretting being hard-headed and trying to suck it up all these years when I could've had the issues addressed so much sooner. Dr. Wu was fantastic and my best experience with any Dr. I've dealt with. He explained everything to me in terms that I could understand my medical situation and educated me about it at the same time. I felt like like he cared and I wasn't just another number on the clipboard. The facilities are top notch and put you at ease as soon as you step into the office. This is my first time to write a yelp review and it took a great and extraordinary doctor such as Dr. David Wu to get me to do so. I have to share my first visit to Dr. Wu's clinic. First, the clinic or office is immaculately clean and spacious AND the staff is very helpful and super courteous from my first call, then through the receiving desk, all the way down to the end of the visit. Dr. Wu is very engaging, calm, friendly, has one of the best bedside manners for doctors that I had ever encountered, very intelligent, brilliant in his specialty but not imposing. He listens to my feedback and he explains such and such to alleviate anxiety on my part. He is very reassuring and presented lots of examples as to this and that of what to do with my case. He listens well to my signs and symptoms and medical complaints, thus, providing me with a very reasonable and very sound medical advise and interventions. I like it that he explained a plan of care based clearly on my medical problems and summarized the interventional plan at the end of the visit to reiterate that I am agreeable to it, and I perfectly was agreeable to his medical interventions. Obviously, he has a great way of establishing rapport and good relationship with his new client(s). I found Dr. David Wu on Yelp. Truly, the 5 star ratings that he got were absolutely on the dot correct and undeniably accurate. Most of all, he seemed very patient, easy to talk to, explains everything patiently and clearly, did a very thorough medical assessment, and did not seem rushing at all. I happened to know about Dr Wu through my friend while talking about the constant back pain that I have from a recent car accident. Dr. Wu has helped me tremendously with pain related to stenosis and cervical disc problems. I was having chronic pain and numbness on the right side of my body and daily migraine headaches. Over the past couple of decades I have sought treatment for migraine headaches from a neurologist and have had many alternative therapies such as chiropractic, acupuncture, physical therapy and yoga with very limited improvement. He is the first doctor that ever really took the time to discuss my history at length and determine the origin of my pain. Dr. Wu is an outstanding doctor and human being. For over two years I had been experiencing excruciating and debilitating pain that was shooting down my right arm, stemming from my shoulder. I had seen numerous orthopedist and specialists, all of which kept treating my shoulder over and over with no results, and even less empathy. Until I found Dr. Wu. Dr. Wu quickly and confidently diagnosed this as a problem coming from my neck, not my shoulder. He also told me that an additional pain I was experiencing-a burning in my left forearm-was connected to this same issue. I, being the skeptic that I am, didn't believe him. And boy was I wrong. He treated my cervical spine with extreme precision and *poof* - my pain was gone. I was so happy I actually cried. Dr. Wu as most of his patients commented; he is patient, knowledgeable, the place is spot clean. I've been under his care since last year, I can go travel far & long after his treatment. Everyone has his or her own unique problem. I was so grateful that I found him. My primary doctor who I've been seeing over 30 years, she has chronic pain due to injury, couldn't give me a good referral, because it's just that hard to find a good pain management specialist. This is in response to Denise A's one star review of Dr Wu below. First off, it's normal to wait at a doctor's office even with an appointment. As the "20 year old kid" who happened to tear my ACL, Dr Wu has done a great job diagnosing my injury and providing the proper treatment plan, unlike other doctors who jump straight to surgery. He has the greatest concern for his patients, and is patient enough to answer all of my worries and concerns. This shows as we were "chit chatting" way after my appointment was complete. I called 5 or 6 different Drs office to make my first appointment because I had a swollen knee but no other Dr's offices allow me to come in until after January. Dr Wu was excellent for explaining me my condition but did not give my treatment options. He want me to have spine injection right away and did not offer me oral medication ...and escalate to more invasive technique if needed. By the way I had a second opinion and got treated by another Dr with oral medication only..no surgical procedure was needed. read more

It's hard to describe how effective David Wu is in his interventional pain management practice. For 2.5 years, have been on a long treatment path for Sciatica. After 6 months, had open surgery (laminotomy) at L-5 with the Ortho Surgeon. The surgery was successful in the side treated, but left scar tissue with pain on the other side worse than the original pain. Then, finally found David Wu by lucky chance. From the first time we met and chatted for 30 minutes, i knew that i was in the right place. We started with an epidural to calm the nerves and see if they could learn to "live in a smaller house". That provided temp relief, but after 6 weeks, the pain was back. Guided by the MRI, David then did a spinal catheterization to remove the scar tissue as best he could. The result is more than i could have hoped. After three months, and for the first time in 2.5 years, i am almost 100% pain-free. How good at what he does is David Wu? It's hard to describe. Dr. Wu's office and operating room are both clean and professional. He takes the time to learn about the patient's life and connect with you on a human level. If you just want to come in and get pain killers, this doctor is not for you. Right away after my first visit he sent me to UCLA Radiology in Manhattan Beach for an MRI the following week. I was very happy with the image made by the 3T MRI. Right away we started RF treatment for my herniated L4/L5. It's now two weeks after treatment and the pain is slowly lessening every week. Dr. Wu will not just operate and send you off never to see you again. He wants to see me next month to follow up, and gave me his personal phone number. Dr. Wu truly cares for his patients. He was able to excuse me from jury duty and he even lowered my bill to work with my insurance company. Great doctor, even better human. 5/5 stars. read more

He really is as good as it gets. From start to finish my entire experience was phenomenal. His staff was amazing and extremely thorough. I didn't have to worry about anything but my treatment plan.
