Nova Scotia w/cream cheese on plain and everything bagel.

My very first bagel in New York and I enjoyed every bite! We got the Nova Scotia with cream cheese bagels, potato salad, macaroni salad, banana creme coffee and coconut caramel coffee. Friendly and fast service! The space is spacious with a lot of other beverage/snack selections all around.

Ever since I moved to Rockland, I've been coming here at least once a week for breakfast or lunch. The portions are generous and the bagels, cream cheeses, iced coffee, and pastries are always fresh and delicious. I've tried a bunch of different foods here and have never been disappointed. Moreover the owner Paula and the rest of the people working here are super friendly.

Prices always cheap, friendly staff, slow service when it's busy ( but that's to be expected), always a good choice when you're around

If you're in the mood for a leisurely experience, indulgent meal, and like a worn (self described…read moreas "cozy" but also overall didn't feel very clean) environment, this spot is for you. A bit of an underwhelming experience though it got off to a good start. Online reservations said the wait was 80-95 minutes. But when we arrived, a reservation was canceled and we were seated right away outdoors. There appeared to be tables available outdoors and indoors so maybe they needed to control the flow for the kitchen staff. Food is "inspired by cafes in Tel Aviv" and is vegetarian and vegan focused. It was a bit pricey (eg., all included breakfast of two pancakes or French toast, eggs, small coffee and toast was $27) and there seemed to be a charge for many things but the overall quality and taste weren't bad. Mostly everything was around 18. The quiche had way more cheese and crust than egg, and the borekas could have had more filling. The shakshuka was very tasty and rich. The egg and cheese on a croissant had a lot of egg; the surcharge on the avocado was a lot compared to the few pieces of avocado you get. They also serve alcohol and the usual coffee and teas. Service was okay and slow, as was the speed of when we got our food and when our water was refilled. We overheard a few tables around us send back food that was burned or otherwise not up to their standards. There are two bathrooms, one of which is cramped. Street parking only and right next to the library.

The next time I went back I informed them of the mistake and they didn't make it right. They could care less. Again, not the end of the world but it's the point of the matter. This is the second review that I've written recently where I have to lead with the temperature…read moreinside the establishment. It was a brutally cold morning. I quickly scurried from my car to the warmth of Gino's...opps maybe not. It wasn't much warmer inside. There was quite a line inside, which I took as a good sign - it wasn't. It's simply a representation that there doesn't seem to be much of a system, just a lot of people running around, seemingly working hard but not efficiently...and for all of their running around, even they're freezing too. Everyone working there was bundled up. After waiting close to 5 minutes someone took my order - a buttered bagel. That's it. You'd think the person taking the order would simply butter it and I'd be on my wait. Nope, it got handed off for someone else to do it - after they finish the orders they're already working on. 7 minutes pass, still waiting on a buttered bagel. They place is quite busy so my frustration is rivaled with my expectation that they must have some amazing bagels - why else would this many people be putting up with such crappy services. At this point I'm almost 15 minutes in. It's been such a waste of time that I figure adding home fries will make me feel like it was worth while. NOPE. I'm starving, so I dig as soon as I get in my car. The bagel is nothing special and the home fries are lacking any kind of flavor. No pepper, no onions, nothing. And of all the insults (the long wait, the plain tasting food, the prices being way too high for what you get)...all of that in the mix, and the worst part - the fact that it was freaking FREEZING the whole time I wasn't my morning in there. Turn the damn heat on!!!! Have some respect for your customer and have some mercy on your workers.
