This used to be the best bagel place in the Northern Valley. Sometime in the last year or so something changed. The bagels started being underdone doughy blobs. The bacon started getting thinner and thinner. Today's sandwich was the last straw. You ask for bacon on your sandwich, and this is what you get. Two paper thin strips of tasteless pseudo-bacon. I hope the company puts someone in this place to clean it up, because it's gone to heck. read more

We moved to the area a few years ago and were told about this place. The bagels were pretty good and some of the staff, like Daniel, went above and beyond every time I was there. The bagels were pretty good but the prices were a little high. That was fine because I thought the staff was good. That is until they fixed the place up and created more room for customers. After the refurbishment, the quality dropped big time. It looks like the cooking surface was reduced leading to longer wait times and stressed cooks. What really led me to stop coming was that I went on Saturday mornings for an entire month and 3 of the 4 times I went, they were out of everything bagels. The one time they had them, they were just out of the oven and were clearly not fully cooked. The egg and cheese was a mushy and doughy mess. That was the end of it for me and I haven't returned since. I also found it weird that there are security cameras everywhere. Either the owners don't trust their staff or customers. There are fewer cameras in the bank down the street. I hope Daniel finds his way to a better shop because he was the only reason I would go there. read more

Since Ronnies in Norwood closed this has been my goto bagel place. The bagels here are tasty, large and fresh. Every time I go in they have had a nice selection of bagels. The breakfast menu is also large with nice variety. They make a nice quality breakfast bagel with 2 eggs per sandwich. Never had a bad experience here. read more

So glad I ignored the lukewarm Yelp reviews-- these bagels are amazing!! I'm another one of those Jersey Bagel Snobs, and I think Goldberg's Famous Bagels are delightful: nice chew, with a good crisp bite giving way to yummy soft chewiness. Had a whole wheat everything bagel with olive cream cheese and it was perfect-- also snagged a blueberry bagel to go and 6+ hours later it's still sooo good. A friend of mine recommended this place and I was in the area so I stopped in for a bacon egg and cheese. Place looks clean and service was quick. Unfortunately they mixed up my order with someone else's order, honest mistake but the trouble started when I went back. The other customer was there and they tried handing me the bag he returned and handed him the bag I returned. Problem is we both had already opened and touched the sandwiches in order to realize the mistake. I asked the worker if he thought it was ok to give me a sandwich that he gave to someone else and was opened and returned his response was "yeah we just mixed up the bags" I then explained to him that I opened the other sandwich and touched it before realizing it was wrong and he and another worker just looked at me like I was crazy. No offer to remake the sandwich's, no offer for a refund, absolutely no offer in any way to make it right at all. I politely told them no thank you that I didn't want a sandwich that someone else opened and I walked out and not a word was said by any of the employees. The other customer that was given the sandwich I had was outside for this exchange and did not know what happened and that he was given the sandwich I opened and touched so I informed him before I left. He went back inside but I'm not sure what happened since I left. You would think with all that's happened during this covid pandemic and the rising cases now a restaurant would care about its customers more than to try and give them food that has been opened, handled and possibly contaminated by another customer. I understand mistakes happen but this one could have easily been corrected by making two new sandwiches. If this is acceptable behavior out in front for customers to see who knows what happens in the back where no one can see. Goldberg bagels in Northvale NJ is a NO GO! STAY AWAY! read more

Months ago I was new to the area and my first stop for morning bagels was Goldberg's and I had an awful customer service experience. The "dude" who was behind the counter was just too cool for school and treated me as though I was wasting his time. He walked away while I was speaking only to ask me my order details another 2 times. He then mistakenly put the wrong price into the register and when I inquired he gave me attitude as though I was wrong, I wasn't. He then just looked at my collection of snapples and bagels on the counter and wasn't interested in giving me a bag. I expressed my dissatisfaction with his service and again, he walked away from me while grabbing a slice of cheese off the deli cheese pile (with bare hands after handling money) and walked to the back of the deli. I can't imagine he's still working there but I wouldn't know as I've never been back! read more

Favorite bagel place! The breakfast sandwiches never disappoint and the bagels are always toasted perfectly! To be honest, I probably order from here at least three times a week if not more! Definitely try this place if you haven't yet. (I would recommend getting a SOBO or a BOBO, just a personal favorite and the hash browns rare delish!) read more

Went here after being spoken to rudely st really bsgel. Guy let me on10 minutes before they actually open. Guy behind counter apologised they had no pumpernickel and offered me an alternative. Decided to try a new bagel place on my way to work this morning. I wanted a bacon, egg and cheese on a Bialy. However, when I asked he said they were all out of Bialys and bagels. How does a bagel shop not have bagels???!! I didn't want to be late to work, so I said OK, how bout wheat bread?...NOPE! Out of that too. The place only had Rye and White bread. I got to work and opened my sandwich up....He didn't even bother to toast (my 3rd and only choice) in bread....and the bacon was barely cooked...so I had to pick it all off. Went here since walleys down the street was packed i ordered a BEC on a plain bagel and a garlic bagel with cream cheese... the lady helping me said my order back to me before she made it... i get home and my BEC IS ON A ROLL not a plain bagel now it would have not been a big deal but the roll was smashed like some sat on the sandwich egg was hanging out the sides and my garlic bagel taste like it was yesterday's batch because i went early in the morning... gave this place another shot since walleys was packed but now i know why i don't ever go there... save your money and go down the street to walleys they are normally always pumping out hot bagels... read more

After Ronnie's closing I decided to give this place a try only to find that the people behind the counter don't understand English and when they rung me up they charged me twice as much for a platter and didn't make me a platter. They ended up charging me for almost 2 bacon egg and cheese sandwiches when all I wanted was one platter and I still didn't get the platter. From now on I'll go to Bi-State in old tappan for my Bagels. read more
