The experience was great, this one associate helped us greatly however...I ordered my bridesmaid dress the same day as the others and they told all of us it would take exactly no more than a month to arrive & keep in mind the wedding was 2 months away. I called to check up on the status & them telling me it would take 2 months a week before the wedding, a huge inconvenience!! They did not tell me that directly when it was ordered, false information that they gave me. So far my experience has not been good. And I am in total agreement with the inattentive staff and especially Amanda, somehow designated to assist me. I showed Amanda the dress I needed for the wedding (I am the Maid of Honor). She grabbed the dresses in a size 8 and a size 12 because they did not have a size 10 and I would have to guess if the size 10, my usual size was the right size. I tried on the dress and decided to go with the size 12. Amanda and I went to the counter so I could pay for the dress. When I pulled out my card to pay, Amanda finally said, "we can't order that dress, you'll have to pick another dress. That dress takes 12 weeks to come in." Why Amanda, who knew my wedding date when she originally looked up my girlfriend's info in the computer didn't mention this EARLIER, like an hour earlier, beats me. Another thing, EVERY time I asked Amanda for another size or style, she would say, "let me go get that." I WAITED and WAITED and WAITED and WAITED and WAITED in the dressing room. Finally I came out, even though the dress I had on was not one I could zip myself. I pretty much walked around the store in a dress unzipped far enough down my back that I had to hold the front across my chest and hope nothing slipped. Amanda was deep in conversation with two other customers. Another staff finally noticed the half-dressed me and came up and said, "oh are you working with Amanda." I said, "Amanda said she would be right back but I have noticed that Amanda gets easily distracted." This is what the staff said, "Oh, well, Amanda cares so much about her customers and wants to provide the best customer service that it is hard when she gets pulled away." [No, let's be HONEST, Amanda provides exceptionally bad service. Really really bad. I'll erase my review if it changes - I really will. ] After waiting way too long, another sales person brought me some dresses and Amanda returned from Narnia to help me make the final decision (since having to decide without the Bride who picked out the original dress is not a minor decision for a Maid of Honor who LOVES her best friend getting married and WOULD wear a paper bag if the bride requested.) I picked out a dress and asked Amanda to put all the information in the computer to order. I told Amanda I would call the Bride ASAP and call to order the dress once I got the go-ahead. I spoke with the Bride soon after and called David's Bridal the following day. When I called David's the following day, I said, "Hi, I was there yesterday. All my information is in the computer. Amanda should have put it in. I just have to pay over the phone." I was put on hold. And waited and waited and waited and waited and waited. Finally, someone picks up and tells me Amanda is busy helping another customer. I repeated, "I just need to pay over the phone. I don't need Amanda to pay. I don't care who rings me up. It should be in the computer and I just have to give you a credit card number." I paid and the sales person said everything was set. I asked her if she would e-mail me a receipt and cc the e-mail to the Bride. The sales person said they do that automatically. I'm still waiting. I called this morning. No one answered. So, I just got married. First, understand that I was a pretty non-traditional bride. At first, I wanted to make my own dress. We're bar hopping the country and doing multiple receptions. I wanted the Justice of the Peace to hurry up with it so we can get on to drinking. Needless to say, I avoided this place. I LOATHED the idea of walking into a bridal salon, fearing overpowdered women trying to upsell me to a cupcake polyester concoction. However, I had three weeks to go before our wedding and I didn't have a dress. I was desperate. I walked in and met Jessica, the woman who was assigned to help me pick out something (even though I insisted I didn't need their help) and I was saved. She was FANTASTIC. I showed her two things I had seen online that I was interested in, and she picked out a few more things that similar elements: sleek and simple. The two that I picked out did not work out, but the last one she picked out for me was seriously foxy. I ended up wearing that to our wedding. My dress was all of $170! It did help that I was wearing what was technically a bridesmaid's dress, but whatevs. What matters is that she helped me pick out something short and sweet, just what I wanted. read more

I stopped in David's Bridal yesterday to check out wedding dresses. Now, I know I didn't have an appointment, but I was not expecting exclusive attention, just someone to direct me to a few dresses. I walk in and tell the sales girl what I am looking for she gives me a rather half ass answer instead of actually getting up from her desk and showing me. So I spot a dress I really like, but can't seem to spot another sales person to help me out. I see a girl in the corner trying on tiaras, but soon realize she ACTUALLY "works" there. So I very politely wake her up from her princess fantasy and ask if she can direct me toward the dress on the mannequin. She points in a general direction and goes back to playing Cinderella. I am quite frustrated at this point,but a glutton for ignorance and punishment and go back to ask her a second question. Very politely she tells me that they do not have the dress in MY SIZE and there are only 2 dresses in the store in MY SIZE....um okay....how do you know my exact size...we have not taken any measurements. I couldn't believe the rudeness and lack of respect I received in that store. read more

I went to David's Bridal in Sunset Valley today to look for a dress to wear to my wedding reception. I had picked out a simple design online - an occasion (not wedding) dress that came in multiple colors. They didn't have my size in stock in any color. The only way I could try the dress on was to special order it, pay for it in advance, and then exchange (not return) it if it didn't fit. In addition, they claimed that I would have to pay an extra $20 to expedite my order as my event is only a month away. At this point I started to wonder what kind of crack they thought I was smoking. A cheap, generic dress from a chain store that is unreturnable and costs extra to arrive in four weeks? Not so much. read more

My girlfriend was getting married in Aruba and had some small alterations that needed done on the dress that she purchased here. I got in the car with her on our lunch break to go pick it up. We walk in and it was like we did something wrong, we were ignored by everyone in the store, literally the attendants were walking past us while we wandered around wondering where the pick up was for alterations. Finally we find a door with a curtain and peek in and there's the alteration ladies (?) who begin to be ignorant to my girlfriend for not having a ticket for her dress, when my friend said "I didn't receive a ticket" it went back to us being ignored. After fifteen minutes of yelling at my friend to spell and re-spell her name the dress is finally found. I asked if she could try it on and thank god I did. The straps that were added were done horribly, they literally looked like melted straws of fabric, and then they didn't even put the eye hook on in the back, at which point we had to REQUEST they put one on and after a lot of ignoring and dirty looks they finally took the dress and threw one on. Now, I was married in Pittsburgh, and I dealt with a David's Bridal up there for my wedding and they were wonderful. This location needs a serious attitude adjustment and maybe a little wake up call that you're working towards someone's special day, so don't be an obscenely rude when you're doing your job. Cut the attitude, this is someone's wedding day you're messing with. I will never go to this location again and would advise my girlfriends to stay away. read more

The seamstress/alterations team here is the worst. I got my dress online to avoid dealing with the terrible service. It arrived wrinkled, so I stopped by to get my complimentary steam. The alterations lady made me wait 3 weeks for a 10 minute steam and when I arrive on my scheduled pick-up time, they make me wait an hour bc they have yet to start steaming it. Awful experience. Rude customer service, if you can even call it "customer service". My girlfriend went in for her scheduled appointment to get a dress altered. no one greeted us or asked how they can help even after the gal behind the counter saw us come in. we had to go up to someone to ask for assistance. once someone was able to help and during appointment for alteration, the girl who was "assisting" was rude and not helpful. she had the attitude that we were a bother to her. after my girlfriend had told the girl what she wanted done, the girl disagreed with her on everything and was not helpful in a positive way. we ending up just leaving becuase of her very unprofessional attitude. Ordered shoes online for my cousins wedding and paid extra for overnight shipping even though I still had two weeks before I needed them. Luckily I gave myself some extra time. They were supposed to arrive on Tuesday. Tuesday evening I got an email saying the shoe was out of stock. So you had to have known that three days before when you went to ship them if you planned on shipping them on time anyway. Ok. Whatever. I call the customer service number so they could tell me if any of the stores close to me had the shoe in stock. There are three David's Bridals in Austin and I didn't want to drive around all day. The website says the style is Maribel and the girl on the phone is asking for a style number but if your website doesn't list a style number, how am I to know? Ok. Whatever. I can get over that too - I'm sure she's a part timer who doesn't care. I drive to the nearest DB and see a sales person organizing shoes and ask her if she can help find the shoe. Her face read: disgust. I was bothering her by asking for help. When the first pair felt too loose, she said "get another" in a snappy tone. Then walked away. She somehow reappeared and got to the register just in time for me to check me out. I'm assuming a commission was involved. I've had three different points of contact with DB and all three have been less than great. Dude, you come into contact with at least five bridesmaids per wedding. And you know what? At some point all five of us will be getting married too and guess where we won't be going? Yup. You guessed it. *Disclaimer: I had no intention of ever going to DB for a cheap dated wedding dress anyway but I definitely wont now. read more

This place was the only thing that made the planning of my wedding bad, When you walk in you're not greeted, if you ask for assistance it's like you are asking for the impossible. The manager has the worst customer service attitude ever! She walks around and looks at you like you're in her way , it's not a welcoming feeling at all. Would not recommend this place at all. I went in David's dreading being fitted as MOH for my friends wedding. I knew my normal formal dress size but with being pregnant with my first child, I was very unsure of how to tweak the sizing with a growing belly and how to prepare for months ahead. Being pregnant in the summer is hard on its own but adjusting to all the changes your body is making is even harder. The ladies at David's not only helped me with adding a "belly" insert, but they helped me pick a style that would accommodate my changing body and made me feel comfortable with it, which is a task of its own! They were professional, knowledgeable, personable and so helpful. I can't tell you how much it meant to me to walk out of there smiling and feeling confident with my dress choice because of the positive words and encouragement I received there. This branch of David's bridal got the worst service available. We went there on Saturday evening but did not know that they close at 7pm. When we entered the store, the receptionist lady greeted us and told us that they were closing in 15 min. I told her that I was going to browse for my reception dress really quick. While browsing, no one, not even a single employee, was being helpful to us. I had to approach someone and asked her to open the dressing room since I would like to try one of their special occassion dress on (it was 6.50pm then, I was a quick browser). She told us to go straight to the dressing area and someone would help us there. So we did what she told us to, but still no one helped us. What I think is very rude was the fact that there were many employees there, but they were just looking at us and then walked away (even though they did look at the dress on my hand and it was very obvious that I needed to try it on). I mean seriously, I don't need a full bridal service now, I just need someone to open the dressing room for me so I can try the dress! A guy finally helped me with the dressing room and I checked out at 6.55pm. He was pretty helpful, but other than that all the employees here are not helpful at all. They have pretty good selections of dresses, but the service sucks big time. read more

SERVICE: Phyllis was my bridal consultant and she is really nice and probably means well, but she is so pushy. I went to David's back in May and since then she's probably called me like 25 times asking me when I'm going to go back. I've told her several times "I'll call when I'm ready", but she is so persistent and that's not the way to win a bride! Now I just screen her calls. ENVIRONMENT: They aren't very attentive, like all the previous yelpers have mentioned. David's Bridal has a reputation that they just cannot recover from, it's just their persona. Based on how many negative reviews they have, you would think management would make a change for such a huge bridal store chain. PRICE: It's definitely affordable, but you almost don't want to give the bridal consultant commission because you're enabling the poor service! read more

So let me just start by stating that I'm not the bride-to-be, but my sister is. So...I'm very protective of her during this very special and exciting time in her life. I have three things to say about the South David's: 1. Crappy Attitudes 2. Lazy 3. Aggressive in a car-salesman way Of course my sister made an appointment and we showed up right on time. The first thing my sister wanted to point out was that she was currently doing Weight Watchers for the big day (in October). This was the beginning of the end of any potential respect I held for the bridal store and their staff. Instead of praising her on her goal, they (3 sales women) proceeded to explain to my sister that if she didn't order her dress by March, then she wouldn't have it in time for her October wedding. Plus, she should consider buying one that day cause they can always alter two sizes down. SEVEN months - REALLY? Once we got the run down on the timeline for ordering the dress, we proceeded to the dressing room. This is the point that my sister handed the staff her pictures of the dresses that she liked. If I were a sales person - I'd love this! Can you believe that a bride came in with 7 choices of her favorite dresses? There were only 3 dresses that actually were big enough. The others were 2 sizes too small. Seriously - a bride is supposed to just "guess" what the dress would look like?! You have got to be kidding me. Once we had the dresses, my sister wanted to look at a couple of more styles. Instead of retrieving the dresses, the sales lady stood 100 feet or more from the dresses and pointed at them - like I knew which style dress she was referencing on the rack of 30 plus! Needless to say, i had to make my way to the rack and wait for her to say "yes" or "no" if I had the correct dress. Now it was time to leave the store. Since this was only my sister's first stop, she was not ready to buy, but had picked a favorite dress. This was when the car-sales style blossomed. Basically, my sister needed to order by October to have it in 7-24 weeks. Then it would take another 6 weeks to have it altered. Plus, if she used an alteration place other than David's Bridal, they would not be responsible for any damage to the dress. Well - no kidding. Plus...wouldn't any ethical alteration facility take responsibility for a bridal gown, or any other item they altered?! Needless to say, I wasn't the bride and I felt like I was being scared into a sale! That's no way to treat a very stressed bride-to-be. P.S. - The bridesmaid dresses SUCKED! read more

If I could leave zero stars I would. Was misinformed basically every single time I came in the store. Spent $2,000 and got maybe $1,000 worth of quality. Alterations were OUTRAGEOUSLY priced and they did a terrible job. Unfortunately my wedding is in 6 days so I have no choice but to take the dress. I was not offered any sort of refund for the terrible job they did, and now my wedding day will be filled with insecurities because my dress looks terrible. Go to another store if AT ALL possible. I had high hopes from referrals from friends, but was let down. Firstly, the changing rooms were filthy and the only place for my family to sit were uncomfortable folding chairs. They were lucky though- other guests were not even offered seating. My next note- my bridal stylist did not offer to help me in and out of any gowns. She handed me a corset bra thing and said, "you'll probably need help getting it on" and walked away. My sister ended up helping. Then when the gowns came she said, "you can get it on yourself". The worst part- the sample dresses are FILTHY. Many were torn or damaged. One had lipstick and foundation all over the inside of it. My family was horrified. My sister ducked into an empty corner of the store and made an appointment somewhere else. read more

My experience was very mixed here at David's bridal. We walked in and wasn't greeted or told to check in or what to do at all, so we looked around and pulled two dresses off the rack. After about 10 minutes we then were approached and instructed to sign in ( I had an appointment) and not to take the dresses off the rack. I asked if I should put the ones I had back and he said no but not to take any more. So we just stood there... Waiting. There wasn't places to sit besides the ones in front of the dressing rooms. It was very awkward. So that part of the experience I would give a one star. Then we met Rachel and she was awesome! Very helpful in picking out dresses, shoes, vail... Everything! So incredibly disappointed in this store. Not only have I bought 2 wedding dresses and countless numbers of bridesmaid dresses, and flower girl dresses from this location, but the only dresses that have ever been given to me in a clear bag were my bridesmaid dresses. When they handed me my wedding dress in a clear bag I am furious. When I asked for the white bag for my wedding dress they said I had to pay for it!! Are you fu#@%ng kidding me??? I purchased my dress from here, and during that time, the customer service was great, i was getting lots of attention and was being treated as a bride and person, not just a sale. well, when my dress came in, i was treated like poo. I set a fitting appointment for the dress to make sure it fit right, and it did, but the sales girl i set the appointment with hardly paid any attention to me. And my dress was wrinkled from the moment I got it. And just recently, one of my bridesmaids picked her dress up from them. When she was trying it on at home, she realized that there was a defect on the sewing of the dress, when she called to tell them about it, they just said that they don't know if she did that and they will not help her out. Overall, it seems like they treat you nice enough to get their sale and after that, they could care less about you. read more

My experience was the same twice with this store by Research Blvd in Austin, first i thought that maybe on weekend it was because it is very busy and they didn't have the time to dedicate to only one bride. But then after many calls and emails that I receive from them, I decided to give a second shoot this time for my bridesmaids, and it was quite a disappointment, the personal there is mostly so careless about give a quality service to their clients, they left my bridesmaid alone trying on the dresses while the assistant just walked away on us after we picked the ones we like, I felt totally insulted. it is really a shame since I was going to buy 6 bridesmaid dressed, seems like they don't care about their clients, I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. read more

I am pretty much totally satisfied with my experience here! I came in a few weeks ago just intending to look around and get ideas. Although I didn't know I should have set an appointment and the staff at the front desk were not terribly helpful at first, Brittni helped me try on a few dresses and was super sweet and helpful (which is saying a lot, because I usually hate having salespeople waiting on me hand and foot!). I ended up ordering a smaller size of the first dress I tried on, and it's a perfect look and fit. I'm kind of disappointed they don't have any bridesmaid dresses in the color I want, because I would love to buy those through David's Bridal too. Although, I do think it's a little ridiculous that they charge extra for a dress bag. But that's small potatoes compared to a good trying on/purchasing/customer service experience. read more

I was a bit scared away by all the poor reviews, but David's seemed to have the largest selection of plus size, non-hideous dresses in the area that were also within my budget. I would love to waltz in to one of the local shops and purchase an exquisite dress made of fine lace and silks, but I wasn't born into money. ;) I had a perfectly fine experience at David's. The appointment setting process went smoothly, and I showed up for my 1st visit. The saleslady was polite and seemed genuinely interested in helping me find a flattering dress. I handed her a list of the dresses I liked online, and she also picked out some other ones she thought I might want to try. In the end, I found a dress I liked, but I told her I wasn't ready to buy it until my mom got to see it. She didn't pull out any creepy high pressure sales tactics. She said sure, we could come in a few days for a courtesy appointment, and then we could make our final decision. Today we had the appointment and ordered the dress! Of course, they're going to try to sell you a bunch of accessories and get you to sign up for their credit card. But if you just say no, they don't keep pushing. I did end up taking advantage of a BOGO deal on a veil and a hair clip. One plus is that they have strapless bras, corsets, and petticoats you can try on under your dress (for sale, naturally). I found a corset that I think will work great with my dress, but it wasn't quite the right size. (I hear Petticoat Fair is the place to go.) All in all a good experience! We're probably going to come back in a few months to pick out a dress for my mom. read more

Had a great experience tonight at David's bridal. Sydney greeted us right away. I explained my wedding is in one week and the weather seems like it will be cooler than expected and I needed a little cami to cover me up. She showed us our options right away and was extremely friendly. Even helped my stepdaughter find a cute scarf/shawl for her dress too. She noticed a few little spots on the cami I was about to purchase so she went in the back a cleaned it for me before we left the store. Went shopping for my bridesmaids today. Went in and found the dress we love, then go to check out and they said it no longer comes in the color that I want because of a dye issue. Fine, I find another color...same issue! So they finally tell me, while I'm in tears, that they can get a third color that I don't even like but I have to go with or we have to change the entire style of dress. Go to check out with a discount card that we received for BRIDESMAIDS and the manager says the dresses in the store are already on sale and she can't take that. That it's for special occasion dresses that you might pick as a bridesmaid dress. I said, no, it says bridesmaid dresses, and she continues to argue with me. I told her that I didn't think this appointment was going to get better because they already screwed me on my color without letting me know before they started trying them on! She just ignored me like, oh well! Just because Alfred Angelo closed doesn't give y'all the right to just screw people over! I was shocked that the MANAGER was so rude to me (the bride!). I don't know her name but she's blonde and short. I not only don't want to get my bridesmaids dresses here now but I may change where I get my wedding dress too! I attended my awards ceremony last night to find that the FOUR WHITE hang tags on the navy blue dress (white against dark blue was extremely pronounced) would not stay tucked in. I tried to cut them off, but that just made it worse. Also the under layer on the dress would not stay straight and continued to ride up the back causing that already high cut, to go even higher. I have never spent $120.00 on a dress before...even my wedding dress was one of your $99 gowns. That time I received amazing service, which is why I came back this time. I almost left your store without purchasing a dress because of how rudely I was treated and now I wish I had left because of how disappointed I was with the dress. Please advise me of how you would like to handle this. I can bring the dress back for a refund, or if you have any other options, please advise. read more
