This place is as good as everyone says! It's drive thru only and you need to get there early. I got there a couple hours after opening and they were already sold out of most things. These donuts are average. Not worth the trouble and heartache. They open at 7 am, and I got my order at around 7:50 am. The donuts were not even warm. Apparently they also close early, as soon as they run out. They are drive thru only, and service is extremely slow still. Also, they were recently close for over a week because their repairman wasn't showing up. I would rate it lower, but this is one of the only donut places in the Forest City area. read more

Went in this morning to find out they only make certain flavors on different days. No mention of that info anywhere! Not on website, not on storefront, nada. Since they are only open 4 days a week and sell out of popular flavors by the end of the day, my husband went there first thing in the morning, to get me something I was finally craving and able to eat, since I'm recovering from cancer. Davis Donuts are a must when visiting Forest (locally pronounced Far) City. The orange twist tops the list of delicacies to try, and I recently snagged an orange cake donut I didn't even know they made. Well I guess I will burst the locals bubbles who think this is a 5 star. I honestly think the donuts are good but seriously almost $30 for 12? I would have gave 4 stars but because of the price and not being able to go in and see what donuts are available and no prices outside it is a 3 star rating! This is the second time getting donuts here. You can not ask how much a dozen is because they are all individual prices. You can not go in to order you have to go to the window to order. A big inconvenience when you have no idea what to order and you have no idea what the individual prices are. The first time we went it was about $24 but we bought more bear claws and we figured ordering donuts would have been cheaper this time boy we were wrong!! The place next door is very rude when you go in asking about the donuts, We would never deal with them it's a small coffee shop and open to the donut shop. Apparently they sell these donuts when they the donut place is closed at a upcharge but the two businesses are not the same place. The older woman at the window was nice but when there is no signs and no prices you feel real stupid to keep asking questions. Over all if we ever go back it would be when they open the inside so we can see what we are getting and individual prices. Stopped at Davis Donut House to pick up 2 dozen to take to work. The doughnuts were very good. I hate that they only offer drive thru service. You really can't pick your doughnut selections. Davis Donut House is my home town donut shop. While growing up, they had a small place downtown...and they made X number of donuts...when they were gone, they closed! This often meant that you had to get there early! They have now moved to a bigger place...and have more donuts...but, when they are gone, they still close! So...how are the donuts? Excellent of course! Davis makes fairly large donut, a bit bigger than Dunkin Donut size. Most of their donuts are the cake type, so they are quiet dense. But, their glazed are not as dense or caky...some where between a Dunkin and Krispy Kreme. Makes them quiet yummy! Their signature donut is the Orange Twist...a long, cake donut with a great orange flavor. They also make a Cinnamon Twist in a similar style. One last thing...these donuts stay fresh longer than most. While home over the holidays, I bought a few one day...and two days later, without microwave, they were still quiet fresh. My family gets orange twists and other various donuts from this donut shop every Christmas. They are delicious. Recently I went in by myself and got like 3-4 dozen donut holes because of how cheap they are. It's like $2 and change for a dozen (to my memory). Great prices and great donuts. Better than any restaurant chain. The ladies of this donut shop are all very kind as well. Extremely respectful and friendly. You can have your Krispy Kreme and your dunkin donuts, I'll take Davis Donuts over both any day. Love this place!!! I went yesterday, mid morning. They still had some donuts ( locals know to go early to make sure they get their favorites!). Mom and I split a cinnamon bun. Best. Ever. Light and moist, with the perfect amount of cinnamon. This is a bun, not a roll, so the top looks like a large version of their fruit filled donuts. It has a great glaze over it, like a yeast raised donut. I'll definitely be back! read more
