I don't really understand the hype of this location. I think it's just OK. The bread is just so so I think the overall atmosphere in the open market field is pretty cool. They never answer any questions. They never respond in any inquiries kind of just get ignored they do do some local events which are pretty cool, but it feels like it is sort of binocular based on one set thing and there's no clear. Monday is a beautiful day to explore Rutherford Co in NC, but most places are closed , after busy weekend. This Mainstreet bakery and coffee shop was open and I was VERY PLEASED! I 'had' to have a 2 scoop sundae , even tho it wasnt even noon. It was delish.. From the customers in n out, their coffee was popular, tho I didnt purchase, as I'd had my caffeine for the day. I was given an obviously burnt croissant and chicken salad. I complained to the manager even showing him all the burnt area. He said " I disagree with you about the croissant" looked at me for a beat and then said "we can go through the croissants and find you one that you prefer. " Although eventually he was "slightly" nice. However, his initial reaction was to tell me I was wrong. I don't like bullies and if you're making a croissant sandwich and it flakes burnt layers while you're making it , stop. Begin again with a better one. Food was good. This cute place is downtown rutherfordton. We were a bit confused about ordering, but we figured it out. You fill out what you want on a card and then take it to the cash register. If you get chips and a drink they are next to the register as well for you to pick out. I got the oinker with no tomato. I got my sandwich toasted. The meat was so good. Didn't taste proceeded or fake like some other sub places. They have alcohol too and super cute lights throughout the building. You can order a salad if you like instead of a sandwich. Wow! I paid $17 for a drink and a 'large' pastrami on rye. The sandwich was so below average: Better bread at supermarket, pastrami was dry and the thousand island tasted like a bottled dressing. But worse yet, this was supposed to be a large pile high pastrami sandwich. Not even close. Sorry, I guess many friends gave the great reviews, as this place does not deserve more than 3 stars. This is a neat place that has great food. There are two entrances, one in front (off of Main St) and a rear entrance via a recently built deck. Parking is available in front on the street, or just up the street at the court house. They are in the middle of redoing their counter, but it's open for those who want to sit at the counter. This place is a restaurant versus a "market". The cool thing is when you enter, they have order sheets at the door that let you customize your order, which I really like. We stopped for lunch and had sandwiches (subs) and soup. The food is very tasty, was prepared fresh, and served quickly all at an reasonable price. We'll definitely be back! read more

What a great spot! I stopped in twice for takeout and recommended it to others who dined in. Service is extremely friendly, they walk you through the menu if it's your first time there. They've got an assortment of soups, salads and sandwiches. They also have beer and cider on tap and wine in the store. Plus the usual tea and soda machines. There is bar seating and small tables. You can order online in advance. I had the My Cousin Vinny salad, sort of an Italian sub in salad form and sans bread, and the turkey and provolone sandwich toasted. Both were delicious! Just a cool place ! It will be growing as it goes but right now it's just(lol) a little beer and wine market, a local produce market, a deli, a lunch counter that serves sodas and beer $ wine. Soon to sell seafood, be a take out by the pound meat deli and much more. The deli sandwiches are $7 for a 8" or $9 for an 11" and LOADED with meats and every topping you need in a sub. Beers include domestics and local craft beers. Drafts include Highland, Hiwire, Sierra. Nevada and Foothills. The subs were really tasty and all meats are Boarshead. Matter of fact, I can only eat half my sub. And do yourself a favor and try all the sides of pasta, potato, broccoli and cole slaw. More choices will be coming soon. Fantastic eatery in the small town of Rutherfordton, NC. We ate here several times while cleaning out my mother's house. The deli graciously filled our pre-order of 13 sandwiches and drinks to go while we were at our mother's funeral service and had it ready for us at their closing time. Their sandwiches are delicious - I also recommend the My Cousin Vinny salad. There is beer on tap and an assortment of beer, wine, and hard cider in the cooler. Such a cute restaurant. We love the quaint beautiful town of Rutherfordton NC. On a trip back from Nebo, we were passing through this town & decided to stop for lunch. I loved how your order! You basically have an individual menu & you check what you want & then how you want it prepared. You take your menu choices to the register to pay then she passes it along to the sandwich makers.
