Was super excited about going to Davis for Big Game day, but my friends and I wern't going to be able to make it for a few months, so we decided to just go on a regular day with a few friends. Driving up from the bay area, the distance wasn't too bad. The entrance to the park is all dirt roads with tons of pot holes, so be prepared for that. The pricing is pretty good $15 bucks for admissions $10 bucks for air, girls get to play for free. They have a self-equip deal where you pay $60 or $65 and you get admission, air and a case of paint. They claim to have strict rules of byop and not having paint from big box stores, but I was clearly shot by Midnights which are sold at any big box stores... I really like the fields they have. They have so many different lay outs available, but there were just wayyy to many pot holes. The pot holes were pretty darn deep too. My friend tripped on a pot hole while running for a field goal, luckily he didn't sprang his ankle. The Ref that we got for the day was TERRIBLE. he was NEVER paying attention to the game. We caught him on the phone a many times while people are playing. There was one time where someone asked for a paint check and the ref said he was good, but clearly the paint was on his arm. Even the guy who said, really? are you sure? Ref said yup. The guy just then wiped off the paint and kept playing. There was another time where the game had started already and the ref just told someone he walked in to jump into the game.. Like seriously?? that's not fair at all.. There were a bunch of cheaters and the ref didn't care, even though everyone was yelling. Ref was pretty much lazy and just there for the money. Overall, I would probably go back here, hoping that we get a different ref. I like the field set up, and I can't imagine how cool it would be on big game day. This was my first paintball experience. It's funny I lived in the area for 5 years and never went. We got our gear and got the safety speech from the referee then headed out to the field. Our group was pretty big so we didn't have to play with any outsiders. We played a few basic games to warm up then moved on to the faster more involved scenarios. Our ref was very friendly and helpful. There weren't really any major disputes because we all came there together. I'm glad they order pizza and bring it on site. At lunch time most of us were too tired and hot to move let alone go out somewhere to find food. It was a good experience overall. A couple notes: -Girls with their own gear don't have to pay admission. -Don't park facing the field. Even with the netting stray paint balls do get out. One hit my car window while I was sitting inside. I'm glad my window wasn't rolled down all the way! A paint ball hit another car in our group that was also parked along that area. read more

Pricing: Excellent. Free admission for self-equipped girls. Quality: Good. A tad too many gopher holes. Turnaround: Excellent. When there are enough referees. Service: Excellent. Learned how to clean a gun! My friend lent me a gun and mask so I was given free admission (girls get free admission if self-equipped ;D). All I had to do was buy gas and paintballs, which I split with my friend. Came out to about $25 for 20 oz. CO2 and 1000 paintballs. The facility has three distinctive styles of fields to play on. My favorite is the airball (red and blue blow-up one), which you can slip and slide around on because lack of weeds and gopher holes. My least favorite is hyperball (black tubes), because hiding behind round tubes and finding openings to shoot out from is super difficult here. Most of the fields are what I call "castle" (not sure what the actual name is) which is full of walls, wheels, and bunkers. This field is super fun when playing for the first time. Now the cons: lots of nettles and gopher holes. Wear long thick pants to combat against nettles and just watch your step as you run around. Games are played often, roughly three games each time you go in, a break, then another round of 3 games, and so forth. If enough referees are around (not a lot of private parties taking referees away), you can actually continually play all day without a break (assuming you never need water or refill on ammo). Safety requires a referee to be present when playing. The referees are super nice. They will put you in recreational or rental groups depending on your skill level and they always keep an eye out for you during the game. My friend shot another player almost point blank and the referee forced my friend out of the game because that was dangerous. At one point, my gun started malfunctioning and one of the referees taught me how to take the gun apart to clean. I overheard another one explaining to a kid why his gun broke and recommending him to go to a local paintball facility for parts. read more

I went here using the LivingSocial deal. It was a great price (50% off). It's really fun out here but make sure you layer up or else you will bleed if you get shot. There are plenty fields to choose from and this was my first paintball experience. So if I go somewhere else, I will update this review with a more appropriate rating. The staff were nice and the equipment worked fine. The staff also explained how everything works very clearly and they were easy-going. This place is fun but paintball in general, is pricey. Go in a large group of 10 or more and reserve your own field and split the costs. Also, there are no nearby stores/restaurants so it's best that you order the pizza before the morning cutoff time or else you will be sorry. People have come up to me to apologize for hitting me with paintballs before (maybe because I'm female?). It was odd because that's the objective of paintball, I didn't mind one bit. Nonetheless, it shows how easy going everyone here is and how friendly they are. ****DISLIKE**** 1. Fields. Such crappy fields! Can they please fill the holes? I don't know how many times I've seen people trip on those things while running. The field is INFESTED with holes that can easily trap your feet. There are a couple of times I swear I could have twisted my ankle getting stuck in it. They're also full of weeds! Tall waist-length weed that wouldn't kill them if they trimmed them once in a while. The bunker set up were also super uneven. Certain sides have more coverage while others were completely naked. Makes the teams uneven. 2. Rules & Setup. They mostly host bigger games. There's not much freedom when it comes to playing your own, smaller games. Some of the bigger games have HORRIBLE rules. (Respawn until last 5 mins, for example) what's the point of wasting paintballs when they respawn? Sometimes I'll just camp until the last 5 mins and THEN start taking ppl down. read more

Played here about 3 Times now. The entrance road is horrible!! After raining makes everything worst! Rocky,bumpy,potholes, you name it, it has it. Staff worker are nice, and very good at keeping every safe from shooting each others eyeballs out. Paintball sold here isn't best price, if you bring your own gear it be cheaper since you can use your own paint, since they charge about 2x the price bought at local paintball shop. HUGE PAINTBALL FIELD! down side, watch out for the potholes in the ground, my friend tripped into a pot hole during his first game. Best time to go is spring/fall. Morning time before it gets hot. Wear Long Pants/Sweaters if your worry about getting shot. Bring knee pads . They only open Sat/Sunday. Every month 1st Saturday they have a thing call "Big Game" Where they combine all the fields together and about 200 people attend. read more

terrible refs. made completely unfair teams. (8vs11) other team was made of adults and mine was all children. asked ref to make teams fair and told me to leave it i didn't like the teams. Not to mention the toxicity of some of the players, some dude (a rental player who was well over 20) was blatantly cussing out children 10 and under... who the hell does that. when i told the ref about it, he said there's not much he can do. uhhh maybe suspend him for a few games?? ended up leaving because the same guy made a seen cussing me out because i got him out. will never be coming here again. I went there with another 15 MBA students and we had a blast, so much fun. Staff was attentive, we had plenty of battlefields to choose from. Make sure you wear long sleeve shirts and a hood, since paintballs shot directly on arms / necks may heart a little bit, but not up to the point of bleeding. I also suggest you divide up in teams, with same shirt colors, which makes it easier to identify opponents during the battle. A last tip is to book an exclusive referee, so you can play within your own team, rather than having to join the crowd and playing with/against people you may not know It is MUCH more fun to play within your own group. We will definitely be going again soon, with a lot more people since the folks were psyched after all of us commented about our experience. read more

My brother comes out to visit once a year from Minnesota. It's difficult to find stuff to keep him busy while he is here and also things he can do since he is mentally handicapped. You don't have to hold his hand the whole time but you have to be patient and keep an eye on him. He is at about an 8th grade level. Well the staff at Davis paint ball was incredible!! They helped him on the field and off the field. They answered all his questions. He would forget to put his gun up when he was hit and the staff would make sure others were kind. You would be surprised at how many times we have tried to do things at other places with him and staff have been very rude and short with him. Well, we will be driving from Rocklin to paint ball every time and my brother will be back next year for more. He had a blast!!!! read more

Dude, if we die blame it on lag...blame it on the lag! Oh Shit, AWWW! I got shot in the ass! These conversations were rampant when the geek in me partook in a game of Paintball. Definitely a fun game in the summer if you can handle the heat. The best way to win these games is to have a strategy with your team. The map is laid out in such a way where you can conjure some insane military strategy, like feigning a strike on one side but flanking them on the rear. Careful, do wear some thick clothing! A direct hit up close on any part of exposed skin can be send you off crying or smiling if you have any masochistic tendencies...heck, I was smiling the whole time :) read more

I love playing paintball. But this field didn't have much variety on the type of fields. I guess I'm just used to a better field in Sacramento. There was only one air field, one with the tubes/pipes and a lot of the boxy looking structures you can't even enter. The referee we had was so slow. She wasn't very friendly either. And it took her 15 minutes to start each game coz she can't split the walk on group into 2 teams. I mean come on. How hard is it. Was a total waste of time waiting. The walk ons were also not separated by experience. There was a group of teenage boys that were playing for the first time, some intermediate players and people who seem like pros. The beginners don't stand a chance with equipment alone. I won't be back to this field. I'd rate it one star but the guys in the booth where you pay were very nice. And I don't know if they check the paint some players use, there was one kid that was hit twice in the arm and he was bleeding coz of the sharp shell of the paintballs he got hit with. Got hit once too and my hand was bleeding. Never happened to me before and I've been playing paintball for a bit. Oh and there is only one porta-potty, both for guys and girls. Another downside. Brought my buddies out to experience paintball. Large and numerous fields, decent grass, however they didn't have any inflatables up. Decent rates for rentals and air but they don't supply rentals with a pod pack which is kinda annoying. Surprised by the number of people who showed up on such a cold Sunday. I suppose one could look at it as validation of its popularity. Chill atmosphere and relatively mature in their refereeing, team balancing, etc. Downsides come in a dirt road leading in having numerous pot holes. Also mud and puddles on the walk through the netting into the field are smelly and reduces the professionalism of the place. read more

Im sorry to say that I tried this place for a fun family occasion. I decided to take my 12 yrs. old son and a group of friends here. IT WAS A $300.00 MISTAKE! Both of the restroom facilities (out house's) were filthy. We decided to play the "Big-Game" where alot of people join in and try to capture the flag. This was the best game of the day and we had alot of fun. It came with a lot of sanitary issuse concerning real wildlife. When I got to my structure to hide in, I happened to kneel down right by a carcass of a dead Jack-Rabbit. It had looked really mutilated, and decaying flesh and bones were lying right in the middle of the field! **I LITERALLY LOST MY LUNCH! I dont know if the wild-life is respected out at Davis Paintball? I feel that the staff could have at least removed the decaying carcass from the field of play. The staff should worry about respect for the wildlife and the surrounding areas of play at all times. I feel a more sanitary aproach to things is needed here. Mom read more

-owner is VERY nice, he will remember you if you go once in a while, he will make you feel like you're at home and make sure you're having a good time. -the 'regular' players aren't very kind. I have been playing paintball for 2 years at that point, I wasn't the best but I could compete with the tournament players. If they don't know you, they treat you like crap. They aren't nice at all to others. Give you dirty looks, yell at you if you do something wrong. Davis Paintball is my favorite paintball field and here is why I think it is - Parking: Plenty of spaces. Check-in: A convenient check in area with shade. Two windows with friendly staff. Amenities: Separate bathrooms! One for men, and one for women! Hand-washing area with paper towels! Tons of covered picnic tables to setup, rest, and eat after games. You can bring your own food or order pizza. Also, self equipped girls play free! Just if you need that extra push to get girls to play. Equipment: Rentals consist of Spyder paintball markers with compressed air. Covered compressed air fill stations for 3000 and 4500. CO2 is also available. Fields: Hyberball and scenario fields! One awesome airball turf field with the most current layout. Staff: If there is a problem, they will try their best to fix it, be it equipment or refs. One last thing - Unlike other fields I have been to, this field attracts a good group: players ranging from beginners to experienced. Everyone here enjoys playing paintball and are not the ones you hear about being super aggressive and scaring beginners. Tourney players save that for tournaments and not for recreational paintball which is a very good understanding to have. If you have never played before, I recommend making a reservation with for a private group or coming on Big Game Day. Big Game is held the first Saturday of each month. Players of all skill levels out to play 30 min games of at least 50 vs 50. Trust me, tons of fun. read more

We recommend wearing good shoes to protect your ankles, bring water on warm and hot days, be ready to exercise given the amount of walking, and don't be afraid to speak up. It is our experience that most owners/managers will make real efforts to accommodate their customers. If not, Yelp them and do not patronize them. Micah and Staff: Thank you soooo much for such an enjoyable weekend. Both my son's three high school buddies and my seven undergrads truly had a wonderful time. Our little group is making plans to return to Davis before finals. They all drove away with smiles. Those that played before felt this was the most enjoyable time they had playing PB. We thank the staff for demonstrating great patience with our newbies, sincere efforts in finding the missing marker at the end of the day, and for simply making our outing a truly memorable day. After talking to most of the undergrads this morning, the welts and round-trip travel from Berkeley to Davis was well worth the smiles and FUN. Pros: Multiple fields providing slightly different settings. The prices are similar to other fields, thank you for adding more covered tables and seats. The markers are average. Ours were clean and without too many defects for rentals. We have rented worse and better. They were clean, without leaks, experienced few breaks in the barrel, and consistently fired. Refs made sincere efforts to keep the teams evenly matched. Self equipped players do not play against renters (the exceptions are private parties, mechanical triggers, or by demonstrating a lack of skill). Honor was event with the self equipped players that we paired with. We all agreed to undershoot the renters and let it rip against other self equipped players. Micah - the owner responds to your questions via email. He truly wants to grow the sport of paintball and for pump marker player. Thank you once again for the loaners. If you have questions or concerns he is very open and receptive to all reasonable requests. Pizza seems to enjoyable and for a reasonable prize - we bring our own food to any field. Good staff makes the real difference. Cons: Holes - other patrons complain and you will see wild life. Growing up a rural area this is normal. Bathrooms - (Portable toilets) would recommend a handicap size to allow greater ventilation and perhaps even more huts to accommodate the number of patrons. I am sure the cost analysis was done. Before there was only one, now there are two stalls -- thanks. Distance from the Oakland/Berkeley area can be an issue given the cost of gas. Food establishments are within a 10 minute drive (similar to other Santa Clara PB). Speedball field is mostly for the teams to use - depends on the demand (can see this being a low for some of the more experience players). Additional note: Regardless of the field, you will always find some bad eggs or individuals that are a bit too zealous. Fortunately for us, we have only encountered one a#$@&*% that decided to have his marker (gun) shoot to hot and ref. took care of the situation immediately at Davis PB. Please understand that we often play with other friends as a group of 6 or so and perhaps given the make up of our group and our friendly demeanor, most players are rather friendly toward us. After our initial wonderful experience at Davis, we gradually purchased our equipment over the next year and half. Since that time, we have played at Santa Clara Paintball, American Paintball in Livermore, and recently returned to Davis PB. WE truly enjoy our time at Davis and look forward to our return. This place is a lot of fun with a group, but the 100 paintballs that come with the rental package isn't nearly enough. One of the worst feelings is not getting shot but having to take yourself out of the game because you're out of bullets, but that's not their fault. The staff was friendly (the people in the concession stand). The ref's were there (neither friendly or rude, just did what they needed to do). The fields are a lot of fun, lots of variety and very spacious. There were a lot of people, but it never seemed crowded. The equipment was in good condition, but several of the players I was with lost their paintball container (I forgot what it's called) but it's important to check that and get it tightened before you go out, because once it falls off, you're out of paint. If you are going for the day, I would highly recommend having them order you some pizza for lunch, we didn't do that, and we wish we would have. We went to try this field this past Sunday for the first time. We got there about noon and the field took some getting used to for us since we rarely play urban style paintball. The refs were very cool, they were fair in their calls and they setup the games well. If you are looking for a field without woods style paintball, this is the place. They had several fields from small to large, the best field to us was the big field which had bunkers. They had a nice self service air fill station up to 4000, this field is also bring your own paint. All around the parking area they have tables and chairs for you to use. Being a member of the Marauders paintball team, I would recommend this place if your looking for a urban style field. We will be returning here a bunch of times to train for a big urban based scenario game coming up. read more

Going to Davis, i totally neglected this place during undergrad. It wasn't till after college, that i started coming here. People are super nice, willing to give ya advice about your gear. They have both CO2 and compressed air for those who have HPA tanks. I can't comment on the rental guns, as i usually bring my own gear. I do know that they have overalls for you to wear if you rent so clothes isn't usually an issue. The speedball fields are very nice and in good condition(two of them). You're not exactly sliding everywhere. The woodsball fields are range from medium to large. They decently kept for an outdoor field. Staff is really nice. Refs are very helpful and good and organizing games. They'll set it up so you'll always be grouped with the people you came with. There are also covered tents to lay out your gear though that's taken up quickly by those who come early and pro teams. There is a bathroom but it's portopotty. One word of advice. If you park close to the field (like i have) you might get a few paintballs to your car. Not that field is not covered but for some reason, a few stray balls make out there. Wierd. read more

Never been to paintball but I heard it hurts as hell if you get hit. Thanks for Living Social for the awesome deal :) I was able to experience the excitement and fun in this game. I would wear a sweater and long pants. However you can rent their overalls but if you go during the summer you will be all hot and sweaty in them. Therefore, I would suggest wearing some old pants you don't want and a long sleeve shirt. It will be dirty :) for sure once you get hit. Best staff ever! Our first time playing paintball and staff is so patient in explaining what to expect. I was also nervous about cleanliness but they all wore mask and a lot of open space makes it a great Covid family activity. Groupon made it especially reasonably priced. This is a great field, hands down one of the friendliest I've ever been too. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because the Air Ball field isn't up every Saturday. Davis is mostly Recreational paintball on Saturdays I assume. Non the less, If your just looking for a good time with not that much competitive/tournament play. This is the spot for you!! Oh and did I mention that self equipped ladies get to play for free? They just need to pay $10 for all day air. (And help you pay for paint ;-) other than that though they don't pay admissions.. We had a private party and our referee was Brad. He was great. Our kids had a great time. Actually, any of the employees we dealt with were courteous, helpful and ready to answer any question we had. They were ready to assist with the rental gear, provide on the spot repairs and coordinate the lunch. Our ref for the party communicated clearly with us, provided suggestions on gameplay, kept the kids safe and made sure we all had a good time. We recently booked a Splatmaster session for my son's 9th birthday. Our group included kids 8-16 as well as some grown ups. We had such a great time that we decided to book another Splatmaster session a few months later as a group. This time we had kids 8-13 and a few young adults. Every age loved participating. The lower impact guns were easy to operate, less painful and still fun for adults. Both times, we brought our own drinks/snacks and ate on the picnic tables after our session. The staff was organized, responsive, and great with the kids out in the field. I would definitely recommend this place for a kid's party or group. read more

I played at this field for several years when I was going to UCD and Davis Paintball Center will always have a place in my heart (lol). First this field is a pretty large field and is very accessible from the City of Davis. The staff here are very nice and there is always a great crowd at this field. The walk on prices are very good and the all day compressed air fee is great. The rental rates are a bit pricey in my opinion (for mechanical spyders). As far as the play goes, I like the competition during the normal weekends. Its a mix of newbie and experienced players. They dint really split groups by skill level which is both good and bad. The fields could be maintained better though, there are alot of holes in the dirt and alto of waist high weeds that make it difficult to move around. There are about 8 fields i think and they are a mix of smaller speed ball fields (My favorite) and larger big game fields (not my favorite) which gives the average player a lot of variety in the types of play. The big game days are probably my favorite for this field because its 20 min of non stop paintball, which is awesome. You can also order pizza at the field for $10 and its a good size. Overall 4/5 stars, cuzof my alma mater field and because the field has improved over the years. I will definitely come back for big game days. read more

Went for my stepsons birthday party because we got a deal on Groupon. The deal was all day admission for 12. Which was true but either way you are only actually saving 10 dollars per each person that plays because you are forced to buy the compressed air ($10) and at least 500 paintballs ($20). They make it very misleading on the Groupon about that. Because one of the adults bought 2000 paintballs for our group to share and yet we still each had to pay for 500 paintballs each player. Stupid rule. The kids did have fun though and they do a new round about every half hour. They close at 4 and our kids were Being annoying wanting to play until the last round. It was definitely overall a cool experience. I wish the benches were closer to the field though. read more
