His presentation of the quality service, materials he provides and the referrals proves there is a reason this company has been around for over 30 years and three generations. Dan's office support, Gina, also deserves a major kudos for fielding all my questions and concerns (Mechanics daughter - I can't help it ). She was able to respond freely with her own knowledge. If there was something she just was not quite 100% on she had Dan reach out to me quickly. I have yet to feel put off by this company with their response time. Can't wait for Spring to start our project. I've done my homework on the quality of service they provide- they came highly recommended. Definitely 5 star. They did a great job on my small ranch home and garage. Tear-off and new roofing done in one day ! Then back the following day for gutters and downspouts. Looks great! I chose to go with "sand dune". Would recommend this company. Attention to detail, good communication, fair price. Davis Roofing replaced our entire roof. They did an amazing job, the whole crew was professional the supervisor, was on site during the entire project. They showed up when they promised Our home is a Tri Level Home with a addition on the back of the house so there where 4 roof lines . The workmanship, professionalism and courtesy of Davis Roofing is much appreciated. They use a crane to hoist the materials up to the roof (not dragging the materials up the side of the house like most roofers). They covered all our shrubbery, landscaping, air conditioner, garage door, etc. with protective tarps so as not to cause any damage. The crew cleaned up everything at the end of each day. The office staff deserves a big thank-you, as they helped us with questions before the roof installation. We couldn't be happier with Davis Roofing. Extremely disappointed with my experience with this company. They came out and did an estimate on a roof repair which I thought was fair and reasonable. After a little bit of coaxing, I received the repair proposal, which I signed and promptly returned. I didn't receive a response, so I called them to see when we could schedule the repair. Another couple weeks go by and still nothing. I called again, and received multiple promises of a call back to schedule the repair. On my last call with them, I confirmed that they still were interested in doing the work and received yet another promise that they would call me the following day to schedule the work for that weekend. Well that was a month ago and still no call back. It's frustrating when a company wastes your time. I don't understand why they couldn't just be up front with me if they are unable to or just don't want to do the work instead of giving me the runaround. Lesson learned. read more

Finally getting around to reviewing a roof replacement they did for me last summer. Nearly a year later everything is holding up beautifully. It handled all the intense storms we had last year without any problems. The work looks great and they helped get my home up to code with all the vents and things. The job was completed quickly and I just love seeing the new roof every time I come home. Their prices were incredibly reasonable as well. In response to Dan who finally responded after a year to tell me my review was inaccurate and unnecessary, I respond with the following: Dan, I like to think I am a pretty reasonable person and you and I both know the conversation we had regarding the rather vague description in the contract. You specifically told me that the situation with the apron would be evaluated during the job and we would discuss it. I specifically told you I was not overly concerned about cost with regard to the apron and that I simply wanted to ensure it was done right. I didn't want to go to all of the expense of having the roof torn off and replaced, a large amount of the wood decking torn off and replaced and then skimp on something as small as the apron. I even asked to have additional wood replaced to ensure I didn't have a problem later and was not worried about the expense there either. Now.....shame on me for not insisting on a better defined contract up front and for paying the bill before everything was complete. That is on me and I learned my lesson there. However.......shame on you for the way you handled this, not honoring what we discussed and for not backing the commitments that your subcontractor made. For you to place blame on your subcontractor the way you did was wrong and you should be ashamed of yourself. I generally give people the benefit of the doubt but I sure learned my lesson with you Dan. I am sure one customer with a bad review will do little to harm your business but at lease those who read can be aware of your practices and be on guard if they choose to do business with you. The fact is that I was not satisfied. Rather than work the issue out reasonably, you left Ean, the subcontractor out to dry and then blamed him saying that if I had some sort of business arrangement with him, it was between the two of us. My only communication with him was regarding the services I hired Davis Roofing to do and he informed me that he was in direct contact with you Dan to authorize the finishing of the apron that never took place. In fact, I never even knew he was a subcontractor until after all of this happened and I was informed that he was let go. He and I had no special arrangement but it didn't prevent you from dismissing the entire thing and wiping your hands clean of it. As disgusted as I was with the situation, I would have gladly paid a reasonable amount to finish the job right if you had cared to resolve this with me. I am reasonable, if you had said there was a miscommunication or misunderstanding and to finish the apron it would cost $$$ I know we could have worked it out. But instead, you disappeared, left your subcontractor looking like a fool and upset your customer. This all could have been sorted out if you cared as much about customer service and communication as you do about making the sale. You Dan may disagree or have a different view, but my review is certainly accurate and very necessary so that anyone who cares to check reviews understands the struggle I went through in doing business with Davis Roofing. Quite honestly, if the cost to finish out the apron was worth more than a few hundred bucks, I would have considered taking you to small claims court to resolve the issue. In fact, the relative small dollar value of what was not done as compared to the total contract cost only helps legitimize this issue. As like I said before, given the conversation we had to do the job right rather than just cheap, asking to replace even somewhat questionable wood decking rather than leave it in place, why in the world would I NOT want the apron done properly? Really Dan? Of course I wanted it done right, even if it cost a few hundred bucks more. But yes, go back and say you did what was written in the contract, I guess if that makes you feel better and sleep better at night, good for you. You and I both know the truth though. Like I said, I learned my lesson. read more

Davis Roofing & Construction did a fantastic job for us! We had a new roof put on the house and garage recently; they were extremely fair in their pricing proposal, and once we signed, they were happy to work with our calendar to schedule the job. They even offered suggestions on ways to help cool our attic in the summer and reduce condensation in the winter, something we would not have thought to do! Their team was prompt and professional and worked hard to get the job done. They cleaned up after themselves leaving not a trace of old shingles or nails! Stay far away from Davis Roofing and Construction. We needed a new roof in 2014 and Dan seemed very upfront and honest. We hired him and then later he referred us to his father for siding and gutter replacement. Everything seemed great at first, but we noticed a piece of the drywall of our ceiling starting to pull apart. Our house was built in 61, so I figure it is simply settling issues. Fast forward to last year (2018) and there is water leaking down the wall. I call Dan and he hesitates to even send anyone out telling us that it must be our humidifier. Eventually he folds and sends Jason out. Talk about unprofessional. Jason tells me that it is definitely because we have our heat in the house up "too high". This is winter and we keep our home at 65 at night and 68 during the day. I don't believe that to be too unreasonable. Jason tells me since we can't see the leak there is nothing that can be done, but he'll be a nice guy and go up on the roof anyway. While he is up there, I cut out an 8 ft by 16" piece of the drywall and pull out the insulation to expose what is clearly a leak coming through the boards of the roof - in fact, I can feel the shingle. Jason tells me that it is an "act of God" and cannot be fixed at cost to them. He then blames it on improperly pitched gutters which Dan's dad put on the house. I call Dan, the owner, after Jason leaves and he tells me that I need to go through my insurance - essentially asking me to commit insurance fraud which I, morally and ethically, cannot do. He tells me that this is the same as if a tornado were to tear off the roof which clearly this is not the case. He then continues to tell me that it cannot be the roof and that he has done hundreds of jobs and none have ever had problems, apparently everyone else on yelp didn't have any problems either.... He then tells me it is from the gutters as Jason did. He tells me to call Chris. When I ask who Chris is he tells me it is the guy that did my gutters. I then assure him that it was his dad that did the job. He tells me his dad is retired, so he can be a nice guy and re-pitch the gutters. What he doesn't state is that he has inherited his dad's business - just like he did the roofing business. So, he is legally bound to the warranty of the work performed by his crew and his father's crew that now works with him. So, he tried to pass off the faulty work on another company that does gutters! Now, the roof leak is worse and we see black running down the drywall of our ceiling every 16 or so inches which means there is probably a major problem with the construction of the entire roof. Last year after Dan did finally send someone out to re-pitch the gutters, the guys showed up with no appointment after he explicitly stated that he would make an appointment since I wanted to be home when the work was performed. I went to check it out after my wife told me some "random guys" showed up and walked on the roof without even ringing the doorbell. I will update with a link to pictures and video of the horrible shoddy work. When I told Dan that my son takes more pride in his work he told me I was being hostile and that there was "nothing he could do to please me". All I want is for him to come by and fix the portions of the roof that his crew performed a poor job on. Now we are dealing with the city and IL Department of Professional Regulation. I hope things can be resolved soon because not mold is clearly developing in our home. Please stay away from this company. We went with them because Dan seemed honest and had low prices. Unfortunately, we paid a low price and got a low quality service. While the job was being performed, Dan had some bigoted remarks and homophobic comments about others, so he was not the nice guy we thought he was. After the job was complete, he refuses to make it right when things go wrong. This roofing job turned out to be an absolute nightmare! read more

We are very happy with Davis Roofing. They did an excellent job putting a new roof on our house (June 2014), and they were able to stop the ice damming near our front door which was a problem for many years. The following year, we called them back to fix our garage roof, which is not attached to our house. We had rotting boards in one spot. They fixed the hole and did an excellent job on our garage roof, as well. And Dan was wonderful to work with. Thank you for the excellent work! read more
