We had an appointment set up yesterday for 4:30 to get an estimate. (The owner had me text him a week ago what I wanted done in our home. So he knew what to expect when he got here.) I texted Karl to see if we were still on about an hour before our appointment. No reply. Around 5:00, I texted him and he said he was working and had to stay for a couple more hours on that job. I asked him why he didn't contact me to let me know our appointment would be cancelled if he knew he wasn't able to keep our appointment. Again, no reply. No customer service.. After deciding we needed a new kitchen, my wife and I asked around for contractor recommendations. We heard about shifty and inattentive and careless and sloppy contractors who didn't keep their word or a schedule. Then we heard about Karl Pajak and ABA Remodeling, who had done extensive work on a colleague's home, in a reasonable time, for a reasonable price. Karl came to our home and listened. He asked questions about functionality and design and offered lots of possibilities, always explaining pros and cons and costs and opportunities. He was honest and informative. He didn't up sell us on anything but made a number of suggestions on how to get the most value for our investment. He told us when he could start and his team barely stopped until the whole kitchen was done. During the whole process we encountered a single issue and when we brought it to his attention he had the solution in place that night. We couldn't be happier with the result. The care that went into the details, the little extras that he added along the way barely charging more than the cost of materials and the fact that the team straightened up as best as possible each night before they left, made the construction as easy to live with as possible. We had some really awful popcorn ceiling that Karl and David removed. They redid the ceiling, added recessed lights and trim, and our room looks fantastic now! They sealed the room off from the rest of the house as much as possible and kept the dust to a minimum. I was expecting to have to wash the floors for days afterwards as the dust settled, but surprisingly, there wasn't much! It looks so modern and we get so many compliments on it. We showed him a picture of the look of the fireplace we wanted and he made it exactly that from just a picture.
