Ok I have to say that my experience with this place is continuing to improve. I had another appointment in October and was very pleased. Hardly any wait. Everyone was nice. Switched to Dr. Fowler who seems professional and pleasant, though to be fair an exam was all that was needed. Hygenist (Sonja- sp?) was excellent. Most pain free cleaning I've ever had. Total different experience here compare to the one in woodland. On my first visit the receptionist named Crystal was very nice and friendly! She Made me feel like I just made a new friend. This place is new so the office and everything else is very nice and clean! They even have a lil play area with video games for your kids to play with. I love how they also have the Kurig coffee machine with all kinds of flavors for their customers! I was greeted by the Dr in about 5 minutes and got some ex-ray done by his Assistance who was very very friendly!! The dr went over with my teeth and looks like there was a lot of work needed to be done! Sadly!! I love how he was very very honest about everything and showed me what needed to be fix from A-Z! He also gave me a discount on my crowns so thank U mucho for that Dr! So I book a appointment for the next day! Day 2 at the dentist and I was the first person in! I was there for about 4 to 5 hours. Everything went very smooth and just perfect! The dr was very good at what he dose and no pain at all! I also got my deep cleaning done the exact same day so im happy they were able to fit me in to see a dental hygienist and she was super super friendly and sweet also! $59 for a cleaning and x-ray! that's a pretty good deal, so i brought my two kids (5 & 3) in for a cleaning. we were able to get an appointment quickly and we stacked the kids so we come get them both in one visit and not be there too long. the office is clean and the kids got to watch some sesame street on the tv while we had a short wait. the hygienist did a great job explaining what she was going to do to each kid beforehand. dr vicuna was great with the kids. they loved getting a toy at the end and it helped that neither had any cavities. didn't feel any pressure to get additional treatment. i had to ask about getting a fluoride treatment. read more

I visited Davis Smiles last year and had them fill 3 cavities. I had some sensitivity and went back and they fixed it. But the whole experience was disgusting and awful. I was very surprised because the staff and the environment were friendly and clean. But when they were drilling they weren't taking the broken up tooth pieces out of my mouth nor spraying as much as they should have. But my main problem with them is that my tooth broke where they put in one of the cavities! So the fillings that they put in don't hold up or they didn't set it in right. read more

DONT GO HERE. Save yourself, don't go here. I'm a student at UC Davis so I was forced to go here because I was away from home but please find any other place but here. I've been getting cleanings here every 6 months since 2017, it is now 2019. Every time I came there was a different doctor and hygienist which was strange. For the past two cleanings I complained about tooth pain and asked to check if I have any cavities but they did not perform x rays. When I went for my cleaning today they said I was due for an x Ray since the last time they did it was 2017 (they shouldn't have waited 2 years) Today's x rays show that I have a cavity so deep I'm going to need a root canal and crown at age 21 (which comes out to an out of pocket cost of $2,000). All because the last several times I came and complained about pain they failed to do an x ray... had they done an x Ray earlier they would've seen the cavity and it wouldn't have come to this. Best believe I'm never going back. I'm finding another dentist to handle my root canal and crown. Davis smiles should be shut down for all the pain and expenses they have caused people like me due to their malpractices!! read more

Dentist is heavy handed, terrible with children (they are not set up for pediatric care in any capacity but will charge your insurance to see your children none the less) and the front desk staff are just outright unprofessional, in person and on the phone. Stood in line at the office, on time for my appointment and ready to be seen, the desk person calls someone up from behind me in line? Asked why and she said its because she thought I was with someone else (but Im in line with my son and no one else wtf?). Litterally argued with me about her leaving a voice mail that she did not leave because she "knew she left it". Horrible customer service, thank God Ive found another dentist. read more

Absolutely wonderful experience! I have not been to a dentist in the better part of a decade, this visit made me wonder why I ever waited so long. Staff was absolutely wonderful. Very kind, made me feel like I was back in the south with all the hospitality. The woman who helped me with the insurance too was very helpful in making it easy for me to afford. Not very professional. They called me to reschedule my appointment, booked 4 months in advance and confirmed twice, the evening before. The reason: other people before me had cancelled so there was a gap in the schedule and they wanted me to come almost 5 hours before my appointment. How is other people's cancellations my problem? I got my filling done here, and once the numbing went down, I realized I couldn't chew without feeling pain there. And I literally could not floss without feeling a lot of pain. So I waited a few days but the pain was still there. I called them and scheduled a follow up appointment to which the dentist looked really annoyed I was back. I told her I'm feeling a lot of pain and cannot chew on my right side. She said I was flossing wrong, and that pain was normal (which I highly doubt). They were able to diagnose a molar issue (large hole in a molar from missing/broken filling) and get me treated and a crown made, fitted, and installed in a single visit of less than 3 hours. I went to Davis Smiles for my first appointment. Appointment was easy from start to finish. I was able to register at home which made check in quick and easy. The girls in the front were very friendly! I was called back quickly and X-rays were fast and the assistant explained everything through the process. I saw Dr.Vicuna who was thorough in his exam and very genuine when he was talking to me. It was like I had known him forever. I have to come back for a cleaning so I will update that after. **AVOID THIS SCAMMING DENTIST** Went here for a simple chipped tooth to be repaired. They ended up trying to tell me I NEEDED a veneer, and that was the only option. They wanted to destroy my front tooth which I would have to live with for the rest of my life, and place a veneer and told me it was the only option, and that it would cost $1000. I said no way that's even possible it's a simple chip and left. I went to my original dentist from back home in so cal and they fixed everything without a veneer in under 10 minutes, with a simple filling process, and my tooth is back to how it was before the chip. This dentist could have been the cause of a huge stress that I would have to deal with for the rest of my life, and didnt care about that at all. DO NOT GO HERE THESE REVIEWS ARE FAKE! I went to Davis Smiles a while ago but it was one of the absolute worst experiences I've ever had. I had a dentist I had been seeing in Davis for years but when my insurance didn't cover them anymore I decided to try Davis Smiles. First of all, they take an unnecessary amount of x-rays. Then, the first thing when the doctor says to me when he walks in is "YOUR MOUTH IS FULL OF CAVITIES" and explains to me how davis is essentially a stupid town for not putting fluoride in their water (which I completely disagree with). When I ask him to show me which teeth have cavities on the x-rays he refuses, and when I continued to insist he said I had "at least 10 cavities" and then goes to randomly circle 8 places on the x-rays. I continued to insist that I didn't have that many since I had no symptoms at all and had heard in the past that it is unnecessary to fill cavities unless they have actually broken through the enamel and knew that this had not happened yet, based on the x-rays. He insisted mostly because "cavities take a long time to fill so you might as well just do them all" (which I later found to be completely untrue). He continued to clean my teeth WHILE WATCHING THE WORLD CUP SOCCER GAME, which was insanely unprofessional. They kept asking and pressuring me to get the fluoride treatment which I refused because I didn't know if my insurance covered it. When I go to leave it turns out I only had 2 official cavities and 3 baby cavities that were only slightly eating at the surface...nothing close to a mouth full of cavities! I also asked the women if my insurance would have covered the fluoride treatment they had been insisting, and as I had expected, it wouldn't have....thank god I didn't get it. THEN 2 weeks later I get a bill for $400 for 7 pictures of my teeth they took, which no insurance normally covers. My mom had to talk to the women and she explained that we didn't have to pay it because it was just something they liked to do for the first appointment. To me it seemed like they were trying to trick us out of money. THEN I went to my old dentist, who is highly respected in Davis, who informs me I actually only had one cavity that needed filling and I went to him to get it filled (and paid out of pocket because it was so worth not going back to this place). It took him about 5 minutes to fill my cavity. THEN my wisdom teeth broke through my gums (the worst pain ever) 3 weeks later. Davis Smiles ignored this, despite taking an ungodly amount of x-rays of my entire head and ended up costing me some SERIOUS PAIN. Honestly, go anywhere else in Davis. Anywhere! read more

Today was my first time visiting the dentist in about 2 years or so. Being the proper hypochondriac I am, I came to see Dr. Vicuna with a pocket full of money for all of the fillings and caps and root canals I was sure I needed, based on the sheer amount of nights I've fallen asleep without brushing having sour patch kids on the breath. I had never been to this dentist office but the word on the street around Sacramento city center is that this office is worth the drive to Davis. Took me 10-15 mins to get there. No biggie at all. I made it clear to the doc and the staff I was prepared for the worst. To my surprise after some congenial conversation with the doc, I was informed I was cavity free and received a clean bill of dental health! What!? This office has a wonderful staff with a great attitude and an environment to match. I set my next appointment for 6 months from today and will be staying a regular. No more long time gaps away and no hopping dentist to dentist anymore. I've found a great Dentist and I'm sticking! Did I mention it was $59?? Come on now. My lunch cost more than that read more

Bad experience! I would never go back. I was trying to get a teeth cleaning and a new teeth retainer because my old one was broken. I was waiting for about 30 minutes until a hygienist to do my x-ray examination, then waited again for another 20 minutes for the dentist. Kept saying useless things, kept telling me how bad my tooth are but do nothing with it. After the conversation I still need to make another TWO appointment for my teeth cleaning and only one side per appointment! WHY DON'T YOU DO IT DURING THE FIRST APPOINTMENT??!! They said that it is because the insurance company requires them to finish teeth cleanning in two times, only one side at one time. If they don't do it they cannot get pay from the insurance company. They were lying to me because then I went to another dentist in Woodland and she finished my teeth cleaning in one appointment. At the end I asked"How about my new retainer cause I need a new one?" They said:"Oh, we don't do teeth retainer here. You have to find a orthodontist." What the hell! I said that I need a new retainer when I was making the appointment and the person on the phone said:"just tell it to your dentist and he will take care it for you."Seriously, I would never go back, it is waste of my time. read more
