The value was good for the price, and they cleaned it thoroughly inside and out, restored the front headlights, and made the tires SHINE. It looked like a new car. I went shopping afterwards that day, and honestly didn't recognize my car at first because it looked so good. Honestly, this shop is the best, and I'll keep coming here for my Smog, Repair, and Detailing needs. I think I first came by in 2017 with a 2000 Camry that kept overheating. This was the third or fourth place I'd taken it, and he found the problem quickly. I said something to the effect of how bad the other shops must have been, and he DEFENDED them, saying the work they did let him skip several diagnostic steps and made it easier for him to discover the problem and fix it. It was a pretty unusual issue, to be fair. They say when you find a good shop, don't let go. The service, friendliness, honestly, and prices will keep me sticking to this place like glue for years to come! I love that Jon breaks down repairs that are "Do Now" versus "Do Soon" with estimates, and makes sure the vehicle is roadworthy.

I headed over with my old 1998 Volvo at around 10:45 on a Thursday. When I came in I was told it might be 11/2 hours before my car would be done, especially since I had an older car that generally takes longer. As I was at the counter I felt something pressing against my leg. It was the owner's dog. After greeting me he returned to laying down next to the counter. The other two customers who arrived after me didn't get the canine greeting. I feel special. Before I knew it, my car was done, it only took 1/2 hour. It costs $10 more to smog check an older car so my total was $95. Oh, and my car passed. I'll be back in 2 years as I intend to keep my old reliable car.

Called on a Thursday for Big Bertha. She needed a cumbersome VEHICLE SAFETY SYSTEMS INSPECTION per…read moreCA DMV requirement. Formerly known as the Brake & Lamp inspection. I spoke with the owner who was very polite and informative. He made sure I knew what was expected before I brought her down. He really did not have to go over it with me as it is the customer's responsibility to know. However it was clear he did not want me to be surprised nor disappointed. He got Big Bertha in the following day!!! We were able to drop her off the night before and leave the keys in their locked mailbox for after hours. The parking lot is very well lit. This came in handy as we had to do an impromptu last minute adjustment to one of Bertha's side markers. On the day of the inspection they were able to answer my typical "what is this thingy for?" on Big Bertha. They completed the inspection and she was ready just in time for us to race to the DMV and complete the paperwork before the weekend. We drove from Fairfield to Davis for this service. When trying to schedule it locally we told they only do one a day and were scheduled a month out. It was well worth the drive to Davis, for the price, customer service and nearby tacos. Would not hesitate to recommend this shop to anyone and look forward to doing business again.

Went…read moreto another mechanic on the weekend in Davis who quoted me $900+ to replace my steering angle sensor after they just ran diagnostics for ABS. I knew that couldn't be the problem so I took it to Autobahn Davis for a second opinion. Gene was awesome! I honestly didn't think they could find the solution since I was trying for days (unplugged my brake fluid sensors, tried holding up the parking brake pedal, constantly adjusting my turns to see when it would appear). It was driving me crazy, but they managed to find the issue in less than 2 hours! Turns out my aftermarket CarPlay wasn't properly installed to hide the wires lol. The first time I got off his lot, it started beeping again, and Gene took it back the same day and solved it again. The time he took to solve my problem was less than the time it took for the other mechanic to even diagnose my sensors as the issue haha. Good to know nothing was actually wrong with my car. I appreciate Gene for walking me through the process too, he showed me what he discovered behind my head unit, and it was a mess. He taped off all the exposed ends from those wires that the person who installed it for me didn't properly do, and I haven't heard a beep since! I also had one of my headlight bulbs replaced, and Gene also did that pretty quickly, plus it's been working well. This is my first car, so finding a reliable mechanic in Davis was really important to me, and Autobahn Davis definitely met my expectations :)
