The value was good for the price, and they cleaned it thoroughly inside and out, restored the front headlights, and made the tires SHINE. It looked like a new car. I went shopping afterwards that day, and honestly didn't recognize my car at first because it looked so good. Honestly, this shop is the best, and I'll keep coming here for my Smog, Repair, and Detailing needs. I think I first came by in 2017 with a 2000 Camry that kept overheating. This was the third or fourth place I'd taken it, and he found the problem quickly. I said something to the effect of how bad the other shops must have been, and he DEFENDED them, saying the work they did let him skip several diagnostic steps and made it easier for him to discover the problem and fix it. It was a pretty unusual issue, to be fair. They say when you find a good shop, don't let go. The service, friendliness, honestly, and prices will keep me sticking to this place like glue for years to come! I called to see if I could get an appointment for a smog check. I was told that they don't make appointments, it's first come first served and usually it takes only 1/2 hour for each car. I headed over with my old 1998 Volvo at around 10:45 on a Thursday. When I came in I was told it might be 11/2 hours before my car would be done, especially since I had an older car that generally takes longer. As I was at the counter I felt something pressing against my leg. It was the owner's dog. After greeting me he returned to laying down next to the counter. The other two customers who arrived after me didn't get the canine greeting. I feel special. Before I knew it, my car was done, it only took 1/2 hour. It costs $10 more to smog check an older car so my total was $95. Oh, and my car passed. I'll be back in 2 years as I intend to keep my old reliable car. read more

I have been using JOHN and his guys for almost 3 years now. They have worked on all of my vehicles. Most recently my 2008 Lincoln navigator that has a little over 300,000 miles on it. The interior is immaculate because all the driving has been highway driving with only me as the driver. But it needed some front end work from an alignment standpoint and a little loose in the steering and I took it in and left it with John and they just don't give up. I will just put it that way they will fix whatever the problem is if you give them enough time because they are a patient crew I must admit that. But if you give them enough time and let them go through and change the necessary parts and sometimes it ends up being the smallest things that make something work correctly, but they are just great and I can't say enough good things about Jon and his team!! I got a smog test here and my windshield wipers replaced. It all took about an hour to complete when I came an hour before closing. This store front is a little hard to find but it's tucked behind another storefront. Their wait room is really nice and calming. Dude, the dog, is cute but his barks were sometimes scary. They have a coupon on their website but you cannot stack coupons. There are coupons for the smog test and windshield wipers but I could only choose one coupon for one service. Hope this all helps. I just showed up with a burned out headlight (which has been a problem as the nights grow longer, but not really urgent) on a Friday at 3:30 pm when the shop closes at 4 pm (I didn't know this). My Prius has a complicated headlight configuration (more complicated than my last car) so I needed help installing the bulb. When the shop owner Jon told me they close at 4, I totally expected to be sent away. But he took the new bulb I had just bought at O'Reilly's and installed it gratis, sending me away with the offer of a $60 service to clear up my cloudy headlight cover. Jon and his team at A1 Smog are outstanding! Initially we went to A1 for a smog test, and later discovered they offer auto repair services. With both our daughters currently in university, we are driving an older 2002 Acura 1.7 EL (Canadian model) with almost half a million kilometers (300K+ miles). A1 Smog has done all sorts of work for us: oil changes, new tires, new clutch, new braking system (ABS pump and module, proportioning valve, brakes), front mount, tire rods, new ignition coils (due to the engine starting to misfire), and the list goes on. (They've always gone through the pros and cons of fixing our current car versus putting the money towards a new or previously owned vehicle.) While we had our car in the shop, Jon actually lent me his Lexus. That blew me away. The service has been top-notch, the pricing has been very fair and always clearly explained, and Jon has been very responsive to any questions we've had. We also like seeing Roxy too (Jon's dog)! I had been putting off getting an oil change for waaay too long which isn't a rare occurrence for me. I know, I know that's awful, but it's true. I'll always say I'm gonna go get one after work, or on the weekend then the time comes and I either forget or just don't go. Made an appointment and came in to A1 the next day on my lunch around 11 AM. They took my car in pretty quickly. I walked to the Nugget market which is about 0.5 miles away while they worked on my truck. A conventional oil change and tire rotation on my 2014 Nissan Xterra cost me only $40.60 total with the coupon on their website! That is an absolute steal. I'm really torn right now about what is my favorite thing about this lil hole in the wall. The dog pictures are accurate 100% this is arguably the best thing about the place as the entertainment she provides makes the 30min wait for a smog check pass very quickly. The other thing that makes this place great is particular to my experience. I was told I needed a smog check so I got there right at 4:30 and they said fine, we'll do it even though we usually say no to anything 4:30 or later. They pull my car in and stat doing their thing. 10min later they come back in and ask why I'm here for a smog check, this car doesn't need one for a year. I call my mom, who'd gotten the stuff in the mail who then sees it was for a different family car. A1 shrugged and smiled, GAVE ME MY COUPON BACK, and then said no charge!
