The manager would have to actually care and help customers rather than ignore them while he's on the computer and they wander the store

The most passive aggressive office I have ever been in. Oriel was condescending and rude to his coworkers and to my son. It was incredibly uncomfortable, I have never witnessed such disrespectful behavior towards a colleague in front of customers! Randy was helpful to us and took his time to make sure he did things correctly, it was awkward, uncomfortable and inappropriate to witness his colleague treating him the way Oriel did. I have never had a stellar experience at Visionworks but this by far was the worst. read more

DO NOT GO HERE for your glasses or contacts!! The Doctors are incompetent and the staff is worse. I had to go back SEVERAL TIMES before my glasses were correct. Every time I returned there was more than on person in the store complaining about the same thing. This went on for over 6 months. I finally went to the Deer Park location, and they were worse. The manager was extremely rude and told me to leave. At this point, I called the Corporate office and they told me a District Manager would call me. I never received a phone call, so I called Corporate again. I was told that the Managers were very busy and probably would not call me back. They never did. Since Visionworks couldn't get my glasses or my contacts right (I had to pay $80 EXTRA for the contact lense exam) my Union finally refunded my insurance and I went to South Shore Family Vision. More expensive but stellar service and definitely worth it. I later found out from a former Visionworks Manager, who now works for another Company, that Visionworks started hiring Managers and staff WITH NO OPTICAL TRAINING OR EXPERIENCE. They could have been Managers at McDonald's and now they're running an Optical Store with zero experience or training! He told me that was why he quit and went somewhere else. This explains SO MUCH!! I had to go to school just to work as an Optical Asst. in California! Oh, and they send most of their orders out to random labs in Mexico. That explains the cheap Progressive lenses I received after paying for Premium lenses. Go anywhere but Visionworks. So sad and frustrating that they destroyed their stores to save a few bucks. The young gentleman at the front desk was very helpful. I felt great with the customer service on the beginning. I was told something that ended up to be incorrect. Which was no problem. The the older balding white hair man answered my inquiries as if I was annoying him. I felt completely disregarded and disrespected as a money paying customer. He talked his way out of good business. I went here to get my eyes checked for the first time in a couple years. Everyone was very nice but the person that stood out to me the most was Randy P. Super personable and so friendly, made me feel like he really cared about my service and made the process after I saw the doctor go quick, easy and painless. So shout out to him. This was the easiest eye wear shopping experience I've ever had. I've been wearing glasses since the age of 8 and it's always a dreaded experience when completing exams and getting fitted. As a an adult when using your insurance plan it can often be an expensive hassle. Visionworks has been a dream come true shopping experience. I recall Davis Vision being the company my father had Insurance with as a city employee and visiting them many years back. They have totally transformed their business. I visited this particular store for my annual eye exam and during the 2 for $49 sale. It was such a great experience and I'm such a satisfied customer that I'm currently contemplating getting 2 more pairs to switch up my look weekly. This place has such a great selection that you can spend hours trying to decide ! They carry BeBe, Candies, Kate Spade, Ray Ban, Chelsea Morgan etc. Dr. Kalberer completed my eye exam and was very thorough. I received my prescription within minutes and was ready to make a final selection on my frames. The sales people here are very knowledgeable and helpful. My sales girl helped me pick out 2 picture perfect frames I adore for sale price. With insurance I was paying close to $200 on glasses that were not even designer frames. I love how they listen to you here and do not try to up sell you on things that you do not want like the chain and independent franchise businesses. The added bonus here is that my glasses were ready in 48 hours ! I was completely shocked. Any other optical, I'd be waiting a week or more. They measured me perfectly and I did not need any adjustments to my 2 frames. I am completely satisfied with my cat eye pairs by Chelsea Morgan. They fit my face and personality. Had several experiences that ruined this place for me and made me not want to return. But the service is the same youd get elsewhere. Every time I was stared at by a specific staff member who was not the one helping me - so much that my accompanied friend took notice. On another occasion the doctor was rude to me for asking a question - cut me off in the middle of speaking, raised his voice and kept speaking over me. Behavior unbecoming of a doctor. The desk front people and a select few staff were the nicest here. The rest had no decorum. This place will be uncomfortable if you are a visible minority. read more

My family has been coming to visonworks at this location for years. When we first came here, it was the best place we started referring​ others family and friends there. Our last two visits have not been the same. We always loved the doctors, but the staff seems to not care and seem very relaxed. Customer service is hard to come nowadays but just being greeted when you walk in is a great improvement. I hope they better there service or we would hate to have to change locations. read more

Came to this location last year a few times as I have also recommended them to my family members but even they also agree that the doctors are nice but the front desk staff isn't as pleasant. Even when calling them on the phone it's like they don't even want to help you as you hear them huffing and puffing and give you a sarcastic response after the questions you ask them as if it costs them their life to give a decent answer. I had made new appointments to go this year with my family members again but after our first experience we're changing our minds and going elsewhere and calling this week to cancel our appointments. Good Customer Service is really rare nowadays but i think the whole front staff needs to be replaced because even in their faces they look like it's too much for them to move a finger. Nice location. Plenty of parking available. They have a wide selection for men and women, as well as for kids. The space is very spacious for easy browsing. The staff all seem very knowledgeable and enthusiastic to assist you in your needs and questions. read more

LOW BUDGET SERVICE: After spending over $400 on glasses (and that's just me on one visit - my daughter gets her glasses here as well), you would think they would come with a microfiber cloth to clean them with. Every pair of glasses I've ever purchased came with a cloth, even sunglasses and reading glasses come with the cloth. When I tried on my new glasses I smudged them alittle, I opened my case (which looked used but they insisted it was not) and did not find a cloth - I asked the guy helping me out if I can have them cleaned again and he said no. Another gentlemen who works there overheard me and came to clean them. I heard the guy that was helping me whisper to him "they were already cleaned". ARE YOU KIDDING ME? The gentleman still cleaned them for me and when I asked for a cloth I was told there weren't any. My family and I all have gotten tested and made many purchases for glasses and contact lens at this location for many years - this was the worst experience. We are now on the hunt for a new eyewear center. This was LOW BUDGET service. read more

My wife and I were treated like good friends in the Central Islip store. The staff was friendly and helpful and spent time with us rather than shuffling us off so they could get to another customer. We saw the tele-doctor, after the preliminary tests, who was also nice and very professional. Overall a good experience and would recommend the store. We have been returning to the same location for over 5 years. While some of the staff change, the service has been consistently the same. Shout out to Auriel Cemre and the staff working that day. This location has provided extremely poor customer service. After booking my appointment I received a message prompting me to reschedule. Unable to get a representative on the phone, I personally went to the store to confirm my appointment. They told me it was confirmed and I would be seen on the scheduled day/time. I even opened a ticket online and was told I'd get a call from management within 48 hours, I only received a voicemail the day before my appointment, advising me that it was taken by someone else and I will need to reschedule. I am still unable to speak to anyone over the phone. Each time I call it just rings indefinitely until I am disconnected. I will be going somewhere else in the future. read more

I have gone to this location a couple of times and it was okay. The second i went in June i knew my insurance was not going to cover my exam because i had just got it done in September the year before so i paid out of pocket just for my contact exam and contacts. And now they're saying i can't have an eye exam until next year because i used my insurance when i never used my insurance that time because i knew it wasn't cover. And they now tell me three days before my appointment i have with them. And call them is horrible because I will be on the phone trying to reach them for an hour. So now i can't have my glasses because someone decided to use my insurance for no reason when i paid everything out of pocket. I don't recommend at all this place and while i'm typing this i'm still waiting on hold for them and it's been 30 minutes already.! read more

My daughter got her first pair of contacts prescribed in may. We made an appointment to have someone teach her how to use them properly as this company makes you or you can't take the contacts home (even though I paid $$$ for them). Davis Vision calls me to say they have to cancel. I reschedule. I can't be seen until June. Fine. They call me again. They have to reschedule. I tell them I'll call back. I can't call back. I have to make the appointment online. Fine. I do that. Go to the store for the contacts with my daughter and they tell me no, sorry we can't give them you need an appointment. Ummmm, this is the 3rd one!!!! They make me make a new appointment. Go there again, wait for 15 minutes to be seen. Then wait a 1/2 hour after the lesson on using the lenses to see the dr. This place SUCKS. read more

The staff at the Central Islip store is very helpful but never told me i needed a credit card at a certain time had to come back the next day to pay cash very inconvenient for me as i don't drive and a long wait for an order went the 30th glasses won't be done until the 15th read more

BUYER BEWARE!!! My union SCPBA has directed our insurer to OPT OUT OF NETWORK with Visionworks due to the many complaints by its members like myself! Brought my glasses in because the coating was peeling in less then a year. Front desk agreed lenses are defective & stated I would have to leave my glasses for 4 weeks to replace defective lens's. I explained that a month is far to long to wait for the repair & be without glasses. Since the employee was short & uncooperative I wrote a letter/email to the corporate office to requested a refund. A few days later I received a call from CI's Visisionworks which offered to return my out of pocket expense & stated they no longer except my insurance. Note, it was my union 5k strong, which OPTED OUT of network! I disagreed simply because they are not entitled to any portion including what my insurance paid since the lenses are defective. Now because I have not heard back from the corporate office, I've contacted my insurer and they are now seeking the full refund on my behalf. Frustrating experience!!! BUYER BEWARE!!!! read more

Iv always used this location as my go-to spot to see the optometrist, order contact lenses, and choose new frames from their vast selection. The staff has always been kind, and honest. Great new doctor, new front desk staff, and even new promotions! Their frames are pretty inexpensive; their store-brand frames are under $100, and designer frames are mostly between $100 and $200. Exams are usually $50 (which is quite cheap for an eye exam), but they were doing a $39 exam promotion when I went. They do have some basic prescription lenses in the store that they can make the same day, but my prescription was too high so I had to wait a week (which was fine). I'll definitely go there again. read more

I called this place over a week in advance for an eye exam to get contacts and even called back later the same day to confirm my appointment, when I walk in for my exam a week later they tell me I don't have an appointment and they can't help me for another week. This place does not know how to run a business, I took time out of work to come get my eye exam since I had an appointment, this place likes to waste your time! read more

I had the same experience as another reviewer, doctors are nice but one of the guys on front desk staff (possibly a manager) isn't as pleasant at all. Last appt was over a year ago, and Howie gave an awful first impression at that time, thought maybe over time things may have changed. Unfortunately when I called them for the first time in a year today to ask a few questions about my prescription I received the same condescending, negative and almost on the brink of unprofessional attitude. I scheduled elsewhere because I would rather drive further than deal with the negativity of this guy. I sat in the waiting chairs up front [before covid] last year, and heard him going off about another customer to co workers in front of me. Super uncomfortable environment because of him, everyone else was nice though including the woman who originally helped me learn how to put contacts in. The other place I scheduled an appt at instead was like night and day when asking the same questions. Its just respect, and friendliness that customers want. Please do better. read more

I received a very thorough eye exam here with dilation to check my eye health. The staff helped me select a nice frame for my progressive and the Rx is very comfortable and clear! The last few times I filled my Rx for a progressive I had gone to costco because they are less expensive generally--the visionworks promotion though ended up being even a little less expensive and I can actually tell the quality of the lenses is better. I have already sent over a few family members and coworkers to this location after having a nice experience and nice doctor. read more
