Initially impressed by Jennifer Thiffault's assistance, my optimism waned when, after a promising second interview, her attitude soured upon learning about another scheduled interview I had arranged on my own (a private firm who had reached out to me on Indeed). Despite a productive 2-hour interview she arranged, where I had just finished interviewing with 5 people from a firm in 1 session, she called minutes after I left (right when I got off the elevator) & insisted on a detailed explanation of the happenings of how the interview had been. Jennifer became upset when I mentioned my tight schedule and subsequent interview I had to rush into as I politely requested if I could call her after my interview appointment (thankfully it was only 5 minutes away from the extensive, exhaustive & now regrettable interview she had arranged me to go on). Her dissatisfaction escalated, leading to a text within 2 minutes of hanging up the phone claiming the recent interview did not go well (from the time I hung up in the parking lot and walked to the front of the building). Strangely, she ceased communication entirely, contrasting sharply with other recruiters who not only offer better compensation (more than what I was seeking) but also encourage independent exploration of opportunities. Jennifer's consistent lowballing on salary, coupled with her abrupt disappearance, made this encounter both perplexing and disappointing. read more

After being connected by a mutual work acquaintance they conducted two Zoom interviews one with Kathy and one with Gina. They told me they wanted to get to know me better and were excited about my background. I was told Gina would be in touch about possible jobs, but I never heard from either of them again. She spoke to me and said she'd get me in front of her client right away and that she anticipated I'd meet with the client the following week. Awful. So eager to get me into the door, but kept canceling the interview times THEY scheduled. When finally getting somewhere, it ended up being a waste of time fighting traffic to get there only to receive discriminatory remarks on my office wear and refusing to listen when I wanted to apply to the job listings that were initially offered to me because of my office clothes. Afterwards recruiter never submitted anything I filled out or submitted to any position I was applying for even after multiple requests for updates or to actually DO SOMETHING. Hate to give any business a one-star review, but wow they have some attitude going. They contacted me and said they found my resume online. They said they had lots - I mean lots - of jobs that were just "perfect" for me and my resume fit the description perfectly. I should have known right there I'd be running into all sorts of problems. From that first phone call to the last, it was nothing but problems. Not once - not one single time - did they return my phone calls. No matter who I called, they either didn't return my call or they returned my call with an email. You read that right. Instead of returning my phone call, they send emails instead. They took a "I'm in the driver's seat" approach in their attitude. No professional courtesy whatsoever. When they want you, they will call. When they don't, you aren't worth a 5-minute return call. I think they have some social anxiety or they are just plain rude. When someone calls you, return the phone call instead of sending an email. I highly recommend Dawson & Dawson as a recruiting firm. I've had the pleasure of working with them for the past few weeks and they have been extremely professional, friendly and so thorough! Initially I was contacted by Jason Spencer by phone, he had discovered my resume online and had some opportunities to discuss with me if I was interested. I returned his call, we built instant rapport (sometimes not easy to do over the phone). I set up an appointment for a meet and greet for the following day to continue the discussion. Upon arriving at the Dawson & Dawson office, I felt a lot of warmth from the atmosphere and the people working there (you can tell they enjoy their jobs!). I was greeted warmly by the receptionist who offered me something to drink. What a different environment compared to the recruiting firm I had been to the day prior... The meeting with my recruiter Jason covered territory that had never been covered by other recruiting firms, and I know what I am talking about having been in the work force a long time! The "interview" was incredibly thorough while being extremely personable and relaxed, making me feel at ease and not on the spot. At the end of our meeting, Jason brought in Kathy Dawson for me to meet with. She has such energy and what an amazing personality...now I understand why everyone was so happy when I walked in the office! Jason submitted my resume for an opportunity we had discussed, it turned into an interview, yay! He made sure that I was VERY prepared for it by having me complete an interview questionnaire. The interview was to be at the Dawson & Dawson office so I was to arrive early for a pre-interview prep-meeting, and then I met with Jason after the interview to provide him with a debrief. Since the interview, he has been very much on top of it by following up with me to let me know the status of scheduling a 2nd interview. I was up for a position and it came down to me and to one other candidate. They kept me apprised through the whole process. I didn't end up getting the job but I'd still recommend them. Other recruiters could certainly learn from them and in today's competitive market, I've found that many recruiters are pretty good at what they do. Dawson & Dawson was the biggest waste of time during my job search. They did not find me a single job, despite me meeting with two of their reps who promised to look for something great. I drove from Santa Ana to their office in Mission Viejo, filled out meticulous tax form information (before I even had a single job offer or lead), then "interviewed" with the recruiter at great lengths. After all that, I waited for weeks. I had zero followups and zero leads. It wasn't until 2 months later when I was already working that I got a call from their rep saying he had a temp job for filing at $9 an hour. Seriously? I was working for $19/hr when I got that call. I had years of work experience, and that's the best he could find? I was so upset that I didn't even bother returning his call. Use Mattson Resources and Marquee Staffing. Look at their reviews. Don't be fooled into wasting time with this agency. I believe a lot of Dawson & Dawson's 5 star reviews are fake (look at Alex J's... she only has one review for her entire Yelp). It's just a scheme so they can get more people to use their services. Don't be fooled. read more
