It included 5 pairings with food, coffee education, and a free tour of their roasting facility! My husband is a notorious coffee snob, so this was perfect. It lasted a few hours, and was lovely. We chatted with others at our table, enjoyed some delicious food, coffee, and even peaberry tea (a favorite). My husband especially enjoyed the roasting facility tour, which was led by a well-educated coffee enthusiast. She handed out amazing facts, generous tips, and favorite coffees. I got labs done at the hospital today. It was so pretty out that I decided to walk and make my way down to get some coffee. I usually hit a couple local joints that are right by the salon I work at. Conveniently, Dawson Taylor was right there so I took it as a sign to head in. This coffee joint is so cool. Walked in and instantly noticed how pretty the shop is. I was greeted right away. I told the gentleman that greeted me that I was going to use the ladies room real quick. I will have to say, the bathroom is so dope. I love all the quotes that were written on the walls. You don't realize how long you're actually in the bathroom when you're reading all the tiles. After reading a handful of tiles, I finally made my way out. I got my usual coffee when I try a new joint out. Gives every shop an even playing field. So I got myself an iced americano with sugar free vanilla and room for cream. I had asked the barista for cream to be poured in the back by him. I had told him about my new kidney when I ordered and that I can't really use communal things. He proceeded to tell me the cream was at the table. I really didn't want to use it but I did. I poured a little of it out before I added the cream to my drink. I also used a napkin to hold the handle. I try not to be a germaphobe but it's hard not to be when your immune system is non existent. I made my way outside to sit under the sun and absorb the afternoon energy. I did add couple packets of my sweetner to my drink to sweetnen it a tad. I like my drinks on the sweeter side. Wow, this drink is absolute perfection. You can taste the espresso. It was very present and bitter. It wasn't watered down and light. I appreciate how bold the espresso is. The cream added a nice richness to the drink. The sweetner did enhance the taste of the vanilla. This americano was so good! I ended up walking to Cecil Andrus park and enjoying the rest of my drink there. It was just what I needed this afternoon. This joint is just another block away from the salon I work at which will be so nice and convenient to head down to for an afternoon caffeinated beverage. Another joint I will have to frequent. We did a short trip to Boise, and our last full day started with a cold & rainy morning. To warm up & keep us out of the wet weather, we looked for a cafe and noticed Dawson Taylor was nearby. It looked like it had a good amount of seating within its cozy interior, so we decided to settle here. The cashier greeted us & was friendly and happy to answer any questions I had. I got a mocha and my husband got a pour over coffee. My mocha was pretty good, but the star was the pour over. I believe the beans used were from Ethiopia, and it was excellently smooth with notes of the coffee cherry it came from! I love when I can taste the complex flavors through different brewing methods at a café. This Dawson Taylor location may be downtown, but it still maintains a welcoming community vibe, and has delicious coffee. Highly recommend! read more

The second I walked in I knew this place was my vibe. They clearly care about really good coffee, and their drink menu proves that. I love a simple menu that has just the right amount of options and isn't too fluffy, if you know what I mean. The space is big too - perfect for working and also in a perfect location downtown. I am a 22 year-old college student with High-functioning ASD and a Panic Disorder who studies at BSU and, up until a year ago, loved to work here in the mornings. However, one unfortunate day I was feeling burdened by my anxiety, and got a panic attack in the shop. Now, because of my ASD, I'm prone to having the occasional sensory meltdown... and due to stress being a significant trigger, I oftentimes tend to get a meltdown in the form of a panic attack. Well, one morning after getting one in there, the manager asked me to leave the shop. She said I was a disruption to her customers and was taking up space in her cafe. She then proceeded to show me a list of mental health and homeless services that I could go to instead... much to my embarrassment. I was already mortified enough by the situation, but the actions of this woman brought these feelings through the roof. After this experience, I have nothing but absolute disdain for the staff at Dawson Taylor. They didn't just lose a customer-- they lost any visible signs of mental health awareness and accessibility. After that day, I wouldn't recommend this facility to anyone-- at least nobody in the neurodiversity community. If you want a coffee shop with service that truly accepts all, go somewhere else. read more

Nice coffee shop downtown Boise on the pedestrian section of 8th street. Large selection of coffees, teas and pastries. I ordered a mocha coffee with a chocolate biscotti. I have the same critic I always have for most mochas; it tastes more like a hot chocolate, you're still supposed to taste the coffee in a mocha, but I'll overlook that since it's a common shortcoming. Service is friendly, and the setting elegant and cozy. I will definitely return and do recommend this coffee shop. read more

The coffee competition in downtown Boise is heating up, but in my book Dawson Taylor is still on top of the heap! I've tried Flying M, District, Form & Function, and more. I've tried them all and the only place I keep going back for my espresso, Dawson Taylor. Location is great, right on the 8th ave strip. Staff is always really friendly and if you go regularly they will remember your order. I really enjoy the rotating selection of single origin beans you can pick for your espresso. Right now I'm completely hooked on Costa Rica La Minita Estate. It's my staple for making espresso at home. Grab a bag to-go, and they will give you a free drip of discount off an espresso drink. Can't say enough good things, need an excellent cup of java, then this is your place! read more

I really want to like this place. The staff is always amazing, beautiful interior. But there's one regular that always watches their phone on full volume. Even with headphones there's nowhere in the place you can get away from it. I asked once and it was an awkward encounter that was essentially ignored. Thought I heard my name and my order when the barista placed a coffee on the counter, but some cretin sporting a multi-colored fleece jacket and a backpack immediately grabbed it. He tasted it so I figured it must be his. When I saw the people behind me in line getting their coffees, I realized this moron had taken mine. No apology from the person behind the counter, just a comment about why there was an Americano sitting on the counter with no takers. And an excuse for the half-wit that ended up with my coffee: "oh, he works all night"; I responded that he looked wide awake to me. Their food is very standard, nothing special there, but their coffee is pretty decent regardless of how you take it. Avoid if you don't want to be ushered out an hour before closing time​​. Ownership has been made aware that some closing shift employees like to flip chairs in the immediate area of patrons way before closing time, and that it communicates inconvenience, annoyance, and a message of, "GTFO I want to go home." If this was happening 5 minutes to closing, understandable. But this happens regularly in between 15-60 minutes before closing. It seems to be an accepted practice to make sure customers feel unwelcome. read more

Dawson's offers a great cup of coffee in a prime downtown locale. First a note about their coffee--Dawson Taylor coffee is seriously legit. They're locally roasted and offer organics and single origin, in addition to their espresso and specialty blends. They are one of my favorite local roasters. My typical order here is a mocha. I like that they offer 3 shots of espresso in their standard 16oz mocha, which makes for a more espresso forward and less overly sweet mocha (yes!). The service is always friendly and their baristas are fast and fabulous. I like this location in the summer for the leisurely patio sipping and people watching opportunities. I am less fond of sipping in-house in the winter months, and will typically take my mocha to go. I'm not sure exactly what I don't care for about the interior--it's just a little loud, the seating is a little uninspired, and it's a bit drafty. Not a problem, though--I still wander in and happily take my mocha to go on a pretty regular basis. Ambiance aside, for me, it's all about the coffee and Dawson's serves it up in delicious style. I went into Dawson Taylor Coffee Roasters with some family visiting from out of town. When I entered the restroom I noticed some vintage articles that looked interesting. Upon inspection I noticed one article described a KKK event. Another described society being forced to acknowledge homosexuality and that it must be cured. Having my black cousin and nephew who is part of the LGBTQ+ community both WITH ME at the time made my entire group uncomfortable. I spoke to the baristas who immediately looked at the prints and took them down. All 3 ladies apologized and were very obviously mortified by the situation. (I place zero blame on them, they were lovely) They explained the articles were chosen and displayed by the owner. I do not for a second believe this was some accident or over site. I just think it's important to know which establishments in the Boise community are open with their hatred and which are just open and inclusive. So for me and mine, Dawson Taylor coffee won't see any more of our business. read more

Pretty decent cup of joe here. I always seem to stop by when we are downtown and in the mood for coffee. In the past, Dawson's Backcountry Blend was my absolute favorite, especially when brewed at one of the now defunct Dawson's coffee kiosks that were sold off years ago. Today, I got a dark roast brewed that was very good. Since it was mid-afternoon, it's hard to know how fresh the coffee was, but regardless, it was good. This is a fun coffee house to hang out in after dinner, or whatever downtown activity you may find, as it has cozy tables and a nice environment. I'll keep coming back. Cool little coffee shop with Zeppole bakery right next door. This isn't one of my regular spots, but I'll go here on occasion (it'son 8th street so you get all of that traffic). They have a good drink selection. If you like cold brew, they have your standard cold brew as well as nitro cold brew. I ended up getting a cold brew and a cookie. The cold brew was quite strong, unlike some places. They have a good selection of pastries, and being right next to Zeppole can make it a tough decision. Both the baristas working were super friendly. I wish they were open a little later, at least on Friday and Saturday. read more
