Quick take: Yes, decent espresso. Coffee Snob Version: First some background to be fair. I buy and roast my own beans and tried beans from all over the world. I have an Excel file full of roasting profiles per bean with what worked and what was less good. I tend to like African and Asian beans. I have use the same Breville machine for 15 years, drink espresso and espresso based drinks exclusively. Yes I would consider myself a coffee snob. I live around the corner from here and have meant to come try them for a while. I was sick a few weeks ago so missed two roasting Fridays, I roasts every Friday and ran out of my own beans. As you know if you are reading the Coffee Snob version, Sbux disappoints, so hey... perfect opportunity to try here! What to try... curious to know about their beans, I ordered a Dopio and an Americano. The Dopio lets me experience just the bean, the Americano what it tastes like dilluted, the flavor can change a bit. The Americano also tells me how much water they add. I tend to make mine with equal parents espresso and water, there is an actual name for this that eludes me at the moment. What was odd was that as they pulled the double espresso shot, there was an unusual volume of crema on top, I actually saw the Barista dump some of the crema off before pouring the remainder in my cup. This is caused by a few things but beans that are too recently roasted is a primary cause. Freshly roasted means usually need at least a week to off as the carbon dioxide in the beans. All that crema was likely CO2 relates, so if anything would have made the shot undrinkablly bitter... And the Barista seemed to know this! I have had beans that needed a month to stabilize. One day it's sharp and bitter, as if by magic, the flavor has changed entyrly and is wonderful! The flavor of the Dopio would tend to support this as it was on the sharp side. That sharpness came through in the Americano which was full to the brim. The fix is simple, I add a small amount of whipped cream and swirl it in. When I get a less than ideal roast at home, this is the fix. I'm certain milk based drinks, cappuccino, breve, etc would overcome this easily. Will I go back, if I am out of beans, definitely, but now I know to add a bit of whipped cream! read more

Tried out this cafe with my family since they heard good reviews about it. The inside was cute and very calm. Unfortunately, the person who helped us was rude when asked their personal opinion on certain drinks. The drinks itself were very bitter and had no flavor. They did have some creamer, powdered chocolate, and hazelnut flavors on the side to add to the coffee's which we used but it didn't help. The banana bread was average in flavor. Coffee Studio has been around for a while but with Dutch Bros front and center off Milwaukee, I'm sure people go to Dutch for it's convenience and it's popularity. I'm guilty of that but today I decided to drive the extra 100 yards and hit up Coffee Studio instead. My goal lately is to support more local businesses in our area. It was late afternoon when I stopped in and it was busy! There was only one barista working and she was hustling! There were two cars in the drive thru. 2 gals a head of me and and another guest waiting for his beverage. She was killing it! Quite impressive how she handled all the pressure of customers waiting for their drinks. She got everyone smashed out and asked what I would like to drink. I gave her my usual order, a small iced americano with sugar free white chocolate with room for cream. She was still finishing an order from the drive thru but I told her to take her time. I wasn't in a rush. I hung out and looked at all the merch and goodies while my drink was being made. The shop is small and cute. There's big windows which give the small space so much pretty lighting. Love the fresh plants and the simple decor here. I adore that they reuse the syrup bottles as vases for plants, it adds a fun touch to the space. The shop is very welcoming. I also appreciate the outdoor seating. There are strung up lights outside which would be pretty at night. They close at 4 so enjoying the lights would be hard. But I can imagine a brisk fall day, late afternoon when it gets dark early chillin outside with a big mug in hand. Talk about a great setting. I didn't grab the sweet barista's name. She asked me if I wanted to add my own cream or if she can do it for me. I told her to go for it. I should have done it myself cause I could have used a hair more cream. It was on the bitter side but I added a little more half and half when I got home and it was perfect! You can really taste the espresso, it wasn't watered down which was nice! All balanced in espresso, cream and sweetness. This little joint pushes out some bold drinks. And it was nice to see how many people were at this place the same time I was. The barista killed it and made me a great drink. It was great stopping in for my afternoon caffeinated beverage. I look forward to coming back. Especially in the fall when I can sit outside under the lights sipping on my hot coffee. read more

Their service is always nice and the atmosphere is so quaint and cute--great for a chat or to work for a while. They have a nice patio too. Unfortunately, I really don't like their coffee/espresso. Greeted with a smile and a "Good morning" when I walked in, a lovey start. I just ordered a brewed coffee. The self serve coffee area was neat and tidy. Best bit, the price of the coffee was about $1.50 less that other places I have been to with the same set up. It appeared that they serve local coffee, as the bags displayed were brands I am familiar with. Not a large place, but nice and neat. It has indoor and outdoor seating. There were two friendly girls taking care of the drive thru and counter. The serve food also, looked like handheld items, as I heard a customer order a burrito. read more

We were driving by, saw the cute little building and sign and had to turn around to check it out. Really nice and chill vibes inside. I like the green and white walls, plants, wooden tables and accents. A good flow of people, but not packed or noisy. The other patrons seemed like regulars, and were all friendly. The barista was the only one working, so it took some time to get drinks and get seated, but I'm not complaining. Everyone was patient, she was friendly and helpful. (And we came not long before closing, I'm not sure if they have more staff during bushier hours) Yummy coffee, and a yummy raspberry white chocolate pastry. I'm a US Navy veteran and pretty much a coffee snob. It has to be really outstanding coffee to get my notice. My benchmark on pond scum swill is Starbucks. So it has to be head and shoulders better that that to make me happy. I was staying at the Hyatt across the street. The hotel coffee was many grades WORSE than Starbucks. But on the plus side, it was free. So I wandered across the street to check this place out. I am not at all into the yuppie $10+ exotic drinks that take 15 minutes to prepare. I go to a coffee shop to get COFFEE! And I like it the same way I like my women. Strong and black. No sugar, no cream, no additives or artificial flavorings. I totally hate it when I am in line and the lady in front of me makes them travel to Madagascar to get fresh cinnamon for her drink! Coffee here was ok. Maybe not as good as the Libertine which is my high water mark when it comes to really good coffee. But the fare here was certainly way better than just acceptable so you probably won't be disappointed. I visited several times and there was always a line even at O-dark-30 so clearly the locals must like it. It's right off a main drag but you'd never find this place by accident so they are obviously getting a good reputation. And that reputation is well deserved based on my experience there. read more

Lots of food options, and the coffee is fabulous! The staff is patient and kind, and they have great suggestions for drinks! The menu is extensive with options to please everybody. It is pretty spendy when getting food and drinks, so I would probably get breakfast elsewhere. The drive thru line can get long, so be prepared to wait. Terrible. It's an unfortunate situation where this place is cute, has great breakfast burritos, and is located exactly where I need a coffee shop near work, but the coffee is absolutely horrible. Since it is good in other ways, I have revisited many times and tried many different drinks just to be certain, or try to find one that is worth drinking. They are all bad, and it is the coffee itself, it tastes like the beans are rancid, or the machine never gets cleaned, or the water is awful. Something beyond just bad technique or a bad brand of beans, they use Caffeina beans and I've been to Caffeina and had the same beans and they weren't bad. I've had several coworkers unprovoked mention that the coffee here is awful also, I really wish they could get it together. (Side note; I was fed up with the coffee so I tried a green tea one day and they *not joking* gave me a bag of tea in a cup of ice water... WITHOUT BREWING IT OR ANYTHING for like 4$. I couldn't believe it, if lacroix made tea this is what it would taste like, water with a whisper of grass flavor. So bad.) Anyway don't go here unless you want a breakfast burrito. read more

#6 for 2023 Very convenient from the Hyatt being across the street. It's a small quaint place that's busy almost any tine of the day. Great place to study or get sime wok done. Noise level is not loud at all. Popular with the locals it's good there is a drive thru for tbat quick grab and go. Attendent was genuine and super nice. She greeted us when we came in and said she wpuld be right with us after taking orders from others before us. That gave us time to review the selections. It's the standard menu with seasonal offeringa with delicious pastries. I went qith the white chocolate mocha. Needed the pick up to carry me through thecrest of my work schedule. That hit the spot. As we were leaving we were thanked for visiting. Ompressive because she was taking care of orders the whole rime we were there. I'll be back in the morning. read more

We were so pleasantly surprised to stumble this coffee shop! The baristas are sweet, helpful, and extremely efficient! They bustled about so quickly we were practically mesmerized that only two of them could pump out delicious drinks so fast! We ordered an Americano with heavy cream, a Caramel Latte, a lemon square, a slice of banana bread, & a lemon blueberry scone. The drinks are superb- made perfectly to order! The banana bread & scone are both better than the lemon square (which we thought lacked flavor). We enjoyed sitting outdoors on the lovely patio! We will be back again! read more

Visiting family, and I needed a latte. I don't generally frequent corporate coffee places, so I was looking for local spots. The Coffee Studio is poorly situated for a drive through. It was 11:40am on a Wednesday, and I had to cross a very busy road (Milwaukee) to turn left into their drive thru, and it took several minutes to cross safely. Then I had to wait in the street for another 5 minutes with my left blinker on because the traffic in the drive thru backed all the way to the street. This seems rather unsafe, and also a nuisance to other drivers trying to get around me. Once at the window, the barista was friendly when taking my order. I forgot to ask if a 12 oz latte comes with two shots of espresso; it tastes like maybe only one. They use Caffeina beans, which I don't like, so I did not enjoy my drink and I won't be back. The drink was well made, but no latte art. I appreciated that it was $3.98 for my 12 oz latte -- a fair price, so I could leave $5 and not feel like I was only leaving a fifty cent tip, which happens everywhere else. read more

This is a cozy little spot near the Hyatt on Milwaukee. It is no more that 200 yard from the front door of the hotel. The operators of the coffee house really keep everything neat, clean and organized. The one thing that stood out to me was the choices of holiday drinks. They really took a creative approach which is nice. I ended up deciding to have the eggnog latte and it was delicious. It was flavorful and not overly sweet. To sum everything up, this place provides everything you could expect from a coffee shop and is a great spot to revisit in the future. read more

Indoor and outdoor seating available, with plenty of natural light, access to outlets, and strong wifi. Plenty of parking available as well. While the inside of this place is adorable and great for meetups, the quality of the coffee isn't the best in Boise. I tried a brown sugar breve and wasn't too impressed. The coffee studio is a solid option if you are in this part of town. The employees are very friendly and fast. There's also a drive thru and the inside is a cozy place to hang and listen to music or work on your laptop. If you love lots of "foofie" options (no judgement), I would recommend this place over Starbucks any day of the week. That being said, foofie coffee drinks is NOT my thing. I am into the true/pure barista experience with high quality micro-roasted espresso based drinks and barista level foam. This is NOT the place for that. If I were rating it against high-end baristas, it would be more like a 3 rating. The espresso quality is middle of the road (a step above Starbucks), but not top-tier, and the foam is absolutely terrible. Seriously. If you expect barista level foam, just skip it and get a latte or whatever. If this is your preferred genre, you are much better off going to Push and Pour, Neckar or even Flying M. Again, very friendly and rapid service with many great qualities based upon one's personal preference. I will likely repeat when I'm in a hurry and on this side of town. Mini review is only fitting for this mini gem. Small and cozy place, very clean inside with LOTS of natural light. I thought the floor layout (especially considering the small size of the place) was spot on. There weren't many customers inside on a Saturday evening, and once everyone left, it almost felt like you were sitting at your own personal coffee shop. Parking is limited, but I feel like it is proportional to how many people can physically fit inside the place. There is an outdoor patio area in the front, but I really enjoyed the cozy vibe inside that I would recommend you sit in there (at least until it gets nice out). I'm sure it gets loud inside when that thing is packed with customers, but when there's no one there except you, it's very peaceful, ESPECIALLY after being at the Boise mall and dealing with people, parking, and the general chaos there. Coffee tasted good, but to be honest, I'm not experienced enough in the coffee game to tell the difference between any of these local coffee places. They also have premade burritos, pastries, and donuts up front by the counter. Prices were a little high IMO, but if you're dining inside I feel like it's well worth it. Staff was super friendly, no complaints at all. One small recommendation I'd give is to have prices next to the food in the little counter, makes you feel less like a peasant for asking how much everything is in there lol. Overall, this is 5 stars EASY. My favorite coffee place so far has been Flying M in Nampa, which does get very busy / loud at times that can be a turn off for some (even though they have awesome latte art there). Come here at the right time (which appears to be 4 PM on a Saturday), and you're served coffee in your own little personal "coffee studio" (Yes that was corny... The baristas are wonderful, and it's clear that they really know their customers that come through the drive-thru and through the doors. It's nice to be able to sit inside (or outside if it's nice!). Probably the kindest staff of people I have ever met! They have great drinks, like great drinks! I didn't think lavender could whisper to me in a double shot latte (espresso) but that gal was doing ASMR. If that lavender had an audio book I would listen because that drink was incredibly great. Their seasonal menu kicks butt every time! Plus they serve Guru donuts and killer breakfast burritos. I took one of my spring final exams here and got an A, I attribute that to the food, drinks, and vibe (speedy WiFi too). Coffee Studio is cute and aesthetic but not intimidating (I'm looking at you form and function). You could easily spend an hour or two here and feel right at home. It's like a little oasis right next to one of the busiest parts of Boise. Go there, get a special drink, or the basics (both slay the day in a fantastic way). Did I mention they are super kind, yes? Stayed across the hotel at the Hyatt last week and stopped into Coffee Studio early Tuesday morning for some caffeine before going into the office. Thankful there is a drive through for all the lazy people like me who do not want to get out of the car. Hallelujah! 24 oz iced vanilla latte (~$4.50): 4 shots of espresso in this puppy is sure to send me bouncing off the walls. The vanilla syrup was not overpowering or overly sweet in the drink.
