    Beautiful and intimate

From the moment we walked in the door Dax was incredible! We dined here on the last night of our honeymoon and they surprised us with a glass of champagne and then a surprise dessert (after we had ordered their top 4 desserts because we couldn't decide) Every flavor combination tickled the taste buds and left you unable to decide what you liked best; the potato amuse bouche, the crab & salmon starter, the duck entree, the turbot entree, any of the four desserts we head...it was all AMAZING! Not only was the food wonderful but the owner and staff were fantastic as well. Definitely a highlight of our trip through Ireland!

    Six courses of deliciousness!!!

Dax is right up there amongst the best restaurants I've eaten in - it serves Michelin quality food, the service is impeccable without being over-intrusive or snooty and the dining room managed to feel both lively and intimate at the same time. I loved this place, and my three dining companions all felt the same. We were there to celebrate a special occasion and the experience did not disappoint. From the amuse bouche to the petit-fours all six courses were exquisite with the two fish dishes (one pickled and one grilled to absolute perfection) being stand-outs for me. The chocolate fondant was also a knockout, the aroma of cocoa emitting from the dish was incredible - it smelled and tasted like heaven. All the little accompaniments were spot-on too - the bread was delicious, water and wine glasses were attentively filled and each dish was broken down by the waiter upon reaching the table. Couldn't recommend this place more, the only question I'm left with is...when can I go back?!?

Dax is a great new restaurant that feels a little bit like an exclusive club. They have tapas served at the bar, then it's on to the main event! The food is expensive but it's very, very good. It's fresh and where possible, sourced in Ireland. To start I had gorgeous scallops with cauliflower puree, something I would never put it with, but it was divine (€17). In a place like this, you have to have the steak. It was a fillet of beef with red wine marmalade and fondant potato (€33) - mouth watering yet? I love being a carnivore. Thankfully I wasn't paying, it was a really gorgeous (but expensive) meal.

Love myself a good tasting menu. It's the ultimate way to dine in my opinion. And Dax has it down to a tee!! Celebrated buying our house here with my better half and a few close friends. Great great place to do so. Relaxed and classy atmosphere. Everything was wonderful, the place was buzzing, the wine flowing. My personal favourite was the sea bass, simply stunning. And if it matters, then I would put this in Michelin Star company, it's really that good :)

What a beautiful luxurious restaurant! I tried Dax for the first time last week, and it was a pleasant meal and evening. Amuse bouche, three course meal, and a never-empty glass of wine, sounds like a good deal to me! I started with a leek and potato soup, which was really good. I then had the boeuf bourguignon with mashed potato. The beef was so tender and delicious. Then, my favorite meal, dessert! I had the profiterole, which were drowning in a pool of chocolate sauce and stuffed with chocolate ice cream. Chocolate heaven? yes please. So good, definitely recommended!

In my opinion, one of the best restaurants in Dublin. Dax is a great french restaurant, pricey but affordable, this is an alternative way to experience french gourmet food without breaking the bank. Lunch and dinner are offered, along with an early bird menu and a tapas menu at the bar, which is stocked with a large variety of european wines. The food is excellent, the staff are friendly (and french!) and you're sure to have a great evening in this charming restaurant.

I was really impressed with the food in Dublin, and Dax did not disappoint in this respect. The braised lamb was superb and the wine was fantastic. However, the service on the night we visited was quite sub-par. My uncles moved to Dublin a few weeks ago and are already huge fans of this restaurant, to the point that when we entered, the waiters immediately brought over their favorite wine. We knew when we made the reservation that they needed the table back in two hours, which is fairly common in this part of the world so not really a huge deal. However, we were rushed through every part of our dinner from the very beginning, with our waiter asking us to order three or four times in our first few minutes of sitting down, before we had even had the chance to peruse the full menu. He also was pouring rather enormous glasses of wine, presumably so that we would finish it quicker. It was rude and unprofessional to the point that once we had finished eating (one hour in), we chose to go finish our remaining wine at the bar, because it was too annoying to have him anxiously hovering over us. It is unfortunate that the actions of this one waiter made this lovely restaurant a less positive experience for us, and I hope that they will work on training their staff better because the food really is scrumptious.

Had supper with some colleagues at this fine Irish establishment after enduring two days of food being brought into the office because of having been in meetings, I had the Filet Mignon and it was so savory and the fig took the taste to a whole new level. Had the chocolate lava cake as my desert. Loved the ambiance and that family run business like this one still exist.

I had the Fillet Of Irish Beef. I hardly ever order filet mignon but I'm glad I did. It may well be the best I've ever had. With Café de Paris butter, shallot pureé, pepper sauce, rocket (arugula), and a side of french fries. The flavor of the meat itself was incredible and the three sauces complemented it perfectly. It was cooked to a perfect medium rare as ordered. French fries aren't normally something to get excited about but these were a gastronomic masterpiece; the insides soft and sweet, not starchy, the outsides browned and subtly crisp, and I don't know what they were fried in but these had so much flavor it must have been beef tallow or duck fat. I'd come here again just to have a platter of these amazing fries! The wife's Coq Au Vin Façon La Maison (chicken breast braised in red wine, smoked bacon, mushrooms, baby onions, roast carrot, pomme purée) was equally memorable. I've never considering ordering this, thinking it too simple or plain. Not this. The red wine sauce really elevated a simple braised chicken. And how do they make even a simple carrot taste so good? We each had a wine from the ample selection of by the glass offerings and shared a gingery dessert which we both enjoyed. The service was good and not rushed. Just don't be intimidated by the waiter, who announced when he brought the bill that tip was not included; it seems this could have been handled more subtly.

We walked around the corner, I saw Pichet and immediately remembered it from my trip research. I was visiting Ireland with my mother who is not an adventurous eater, so I looked at the menu online - found a lovely pasta dish that she would enjoy and she agreed to go. Turned out to be a great decision and a very memorable meal in every way. Service was wonderful... attentive, charming, and funny. Wine was perfection. And the meal was outstanding. My mom had the Knockanore cheese agnolotti with girolles, baby courgette, lovage and hazelnut pesto, and I had harissa spiced local lamb shoulder with tomato cumin puree, smoked yoghurt, roasted gnocchi, courgette and basil. We also shared two desserts, an Île Flottante with creme anglaise, Irish strawberry, strawberry prosecco sorbet, and an almond and black sesame tuile as well as the tropical themed and highly recommended coconut parfait with rum roasted pineapple, passion fruit gel, and coconut sorbet. Perfection. We chatted with a lovely local lady next to us for a bit and then two delightful & vivacious young women who arrived shortly after. One from Italy and one from Mexico. This is part of why I love travel. I recommend making reservations or arrive on the early side if you want to try your luck without one. We were able to get a seat in the bar/lounge area early as a walk in. All in all, I couldn't have asked for a better experience. 10000/10000 would go again.

Finally had order taken by male bus boy who seemed he wanted to be anywhere else and said "I am waiting". We ordered two "specials" and the bœuf bourguignon. Two separate couples came in and were served before we received our food. So hard to eat as it was 80-85 degrees in there. The beef was good and would recommend. The two specials were chicken and very very dry. To wrap it up we had to hunt down the wait staff to get the ticket as they actively avoided eye contact. Fairly expensive for just ok food and horrible service. Customer service is not hard. A "Welcome" or "Glad you came in" goes a long way.
