l interviewed a couple of solar providers before selecting Day One. They came in with a bid that was better than the others, and it cost about 30% less. They explained everything, provided documentation, and answered my many questions. This is a lot of money to invest, and I wanted it to pay off. We collaborated on panel placement, which I liked because we got a better array position than either of us had initially planned. Installation was easy and fast. Disruption in my home was negligible, and the panels started producing energy immediately. Overall, I had a fantastic experience with Day One Solar. I had received quotes from a number of installers, there was quite a wide range in the quotes but Day One was one of the most competitive. Tony was super helpful and walked me through various options and we adjusted the system to align with our needs. I decided to go with Day One because I had heard good things from a friend, and also because they are local. The installation process was painless. The team were fantastic, both friendly and respectful. Good communication and explanation of what they were doing and when. The installation was done within a few days, including installation of a new breaker box. The inspection was also painless (although it took a while to get it scheduled, things were slow as this was mid-COVID). I haven't had any issues with the system at all, but it's nice to know that Day One are monitoring the system remotely - accidentally disconnected the inverter from my network when I was doing some maintenance, and received an email from Day One the next day checking in. We have worked twice now with Tony and his crew at Day One. The first time was in 2017 when DayOne delivered a combination ground mount and roof installation at a non-profit which we helped support. It was a rather complex 66kW system and they did a great job at a very competitive price. Two+ years later that system is running great and the non profit is thrilled with all the money they are saving! More recently Day One completed a 6.5 kW roof installation on our residence in Aptos. From first contact to completion of project was less than three months (and this included delays due to summer travel and vacations) and it took just one month from contract signing to completion of installation. They analyzed our PG&E usage, explained different solar options and listened to what we wanted. They came back with a detailed proposal including a concept drawing of the roof with solar modules. We researched three solar companies before choosing Day One. They came highly recommended from a friend working for a Solar Edge, a top solar inverter company. From our first introductory meeting to assess our needs it was clear that this company was knowledgeable and professional. All phases of the project went smoothly, planning through inspection. Installation took three days and the communication with the installers was excellent. The placement of panel on a roof is not a " one plan fits all " proposition. We didn't want the panels to be the first thing you noticed when you looked at our home. The solution was clever. During the installation, If there was a question they got the answer before proceeding. Day One facilitated work with PGE and Solar Edge (inverter). I sincerely can't say enough about Day One Solar. They are responsive, professional and extremely knowledgable about their trade. I originally contacted Day One Solar based on a recommendation from SolarEdge, the manufacturer of my residential solar system. The first service call involved investigating a fault error with my 4-year old SolarEdge 6000 inverter. They quickly identified that it wasn't something they could remedy on site and recommended that I to submit a case with SolarEdge. After receiving a replacement Inverter from SolarEdge, I engaged Day One Solar to de-install the defective unit and install the new replacement unit. Not only did they proficiently complete the job they were hired to do, they also identified several other issues with the original installation done by another company. This included fixing connections to several non-operating PV panels, rewiring the shut-off switch for safety reasons, and putting a safety lock on the switch box to prevent my kids from accidentally opening and potentially electrocuting themselves. They also ran CAT5 cable to my new SolarEdge Inverter since the original installation company didn't network the system. After successfully running the system for several months following the inverter replacement, the system shut down again due to another/different error. Of course Day One Solar was quick to respond and paid me a service call to investigate. They had the system operating again within an hour. I highly recommend Day One Solar based on my experience from start to finish. Their entire staff is courteous and professional, including their front office staff and field service technicians. I plan to use Day One Solar in future to upgrade my system and add a backup power storage system. read more
