Very unimpressed with the lack of cleanliness. Stained blankets and sheets, parking lot full of garbage, very dingy mattress on the pull-out couch. The most disappointing part to me from my stay was the lack of response when the front desk was alerted about human feces on the floor of the bathroom in the pool. Our concerns were met with a "that's not my job" kind of response. I understand that cleaning bathrooms was probably not a task you signed up for, but that is a rather significant health hazard to write off. On a positive note, as a dog owner I always appreciate hotels that are dog-friendly. Having a mini fridge and microwave in the room was also nice, especially having a young toddler. read more

Okay, bear with me as I tell my story. The four of us arrive. Two adults, two kids. We checked the website beforehand to make sure they had a pool (expecting to have to schedule a time to swim due to COVID) and a nice breakfast. We're initially bummed by a sign on the front desk that says the pool is out of order for...ever, maybe? No one knows. And that locals aren't allowed to stay there. That's weird. But whatevs. We check in and are given keys to what we'll call Room #1 by a young woman who seemed quite displeased to be at work. (Who can blame her, right?) We go up to the room and the key opens the door...to a woman running to the door to ask us what we want! We are horrified and apologize to her; she tells us that she has reserved the room for a month. My mom goes down to the desk to tell the woman. She says, "Oh. Here, try this one" and gives her keys to Room #2. We go back upstairs and we were nervous at the word "try," so I knocked on the door first. No answer, so a win, right? We open the door to suitcases all over the floor. I was stunned. I went back down, told the very unexcitable young lady that this wasn't acceptable and we needed a room that was NOT occupied. She gave me a key to Room #3. For the story's sake, I'd love to say it was occupied...but it wasn't. It was beautiful and smelled amazing. And the air conditioner didn't work correctly. It was hot as Hades. The teen went down to ask her to have it fixed or switch us rooms. She said maintenance doesn't come until morning, but she'd try to call them. Of course there was no answer. She said they have no other rooms available. So we slept in a room that had exactly two temperatures - Arctic Pole and the depths of Hell. I'm sure it made us tougher people in the end. In the morning, I go to breakfast famished from my night of regulating my body temperature. No pancakes as they are out of mix. No apple juice as that's out of stock. No salt and pepper for the boiled eggs. Yikes. Just yikes. The beauty of this place is deceiving. But it is definitely beautiful! And clean! (That's two stars.) read more

This hotel was disappointing around every turn. Our room was filthy. There were holes in the bathroom door and some unidentified substance on the walls and couch. There was gum in the air vent. There was feces on the floor of the women's bathroom by the pool. When the front desk was notified, they (2/18 @ 5:15pm in case Days Inn wants to look into this completely unacceptable response) did nothing. They were notified a second time and we were told that maintenance wasn't on site 24/7 so there was no one that could clean it up. They were going to just leave it!!!! Since this is a serious health hazard, we wouldn't let it drop. They finally came and put a sign on the door, but the feces stayed right where it was. Our stay isn't over yet, but I'm hoping this can't get much worse. read more

Very nice clean hotel. Rooms were really big and nice. There was a clean smell as soon as we walked in the lobby which was very nice :) The jaccuzi was out of service when we were there and the pool was really cold we didn't stay in long. The fitness center is small with three machines. No free hand weights unfortunately! Breakfast was really good! We had a nice stay! read more

Not impressed. Staying here right now. The bathroom door does not lock. The drains need to be cleaned out as the water pools in the sink and when you take a shower you are also taking a bath. They cleaned the tile entryway with something that made us slip on the way in. It is an older hotel which would be fine if you felt it was clean but when you walk in it feels like a film of nasty on your skin. Smells old. Pulled out the couch bed and there was food on the sheet. Asked for more towels and have yet to see any. Got back to the room after leaving for the day and the room cars keys do not work. Asked for new ones and the counter girl seemed annoyed. The breakfast was pointless-they should not even bother having one. There were 2 cereal options and bread to toast. Coffee not good at all. The pancake machine is out of order. The pool/hot tub also out of order. Just blah. Paid way too much to feel gross. read more

If you're traveling with a dog, this is the best pet-friendly place I've found in the Onalaska area- if this is your main concern go ahead and book the room now. Friendly staff, nice rooms, and a decent swimming pool are the high points. The breakfast offered is better than might be expected. The Wi-Fi was very fast and reliable when compared to other hotels. The place might be a bit overpriced for what you get, but this seems to be a better establishment than most other Holiday Inn Expresses I've experienced. read more

This Holiday Inn Express is your pretty standard spot and its perfect for an overnight if you happen to be in the area. All of the staff members I encountered were helpful and friendly. I inquired about transportation to the airport and they arranged it for me without hesitation. My room was actually massive and completely unexpected. The giant shower was obviously new and came equipped with two shower heads. Way to go Holiday Inn! Also noteworthy, the hotel has free Wi-fi and a comfortable area to do work if you happen to be on business. Breakfast is complementary (standard at HIE) and has all the basics - eggs, pastries, cereal, etc. The area is attended very well too so it stays nicely stocked for everyone. If you're looking for a nicely-priced, nicely maintained hotel in the LaCrosse area, check out the Holiday Inn Express. And hey - its right next to a MALL! read more

I thought all Holiday Inns were to be held under a standard. Didn't get any sleep, the black out curtains covered the air conditioner. So either had to deal with lights outside or a hot room. Then the bed was all lumpy and very uncomfortable. And the room hadn't been vacuumed, there were large crumbs all over the floor. I have never stayed at such a bad Holiday Inn before. read more

Was here to celebrate Christmas with my dads side of the family. It is clear that this location has been recently remodeled. It looks great - love the color palate and decor. Location is very convenient, beds are super comfortable. They also give you a soft and firm pillow for each side of the bed. Our room was huge, much bigger than we were expecting. It also came with a microwave and mini fridge which can be hard to find in basic hotel rooms these days. Bathroom was clean and fairly large as well. The offer complimentary breakfast in the morning. The selection is decent, nothing special. I would've given this hotel 4 stars if it had not been for the service. The people behind the counter were very nice, however our room was not cleaned after our first night staying there. We had all showered and all of the towels had been used and left on the floor for house cleaning to change out. It is nice to come back to a clean room and fresh towels. I understand that some hotels are trying to cut down on their water use and energy use however no one indicated to us that they would not be cleaning our room every day. If we had known, we would not have thrown our towels on the floor to be changed. Overall a good experience, but could have been made better with better service. read more

We are traveling cross country. Found this place using Yelp. The town was a fun surprise. This restaurant, will not disappoint. The entries were delicious! We ordered the High Rock Fish Tacos, Lulu Chicken Wrap, Presidente Burger , Big Boy Mac n' Cheese, Rasta Pasta. The wait staff was personable and attentive. The first floor is a bar with a few tables. This is where we dined. The second floor is the restaurant portion of the business. The decor is fun. I liked the light fixtures. I would definitely wear here again if I were coming through the area. a small frig, microwave, and coffee maker. My only complaint was the air conditioner knocked periodically throughout the night and the bathtub did not drain well. The staff was friendly. A decent, basic hotel. I stayed here when I was first moving to La Crosse, and my family stayed here when I graduated from UW-L. It's nothing particularly special, but the service is solid and the hotel is clean. This was probably one of my best experiences at a Holiday Inn. They have a pool and hot tub and some free breakfast treats by the lobby when you wake up. Again, it's mostly a very basic hotel experience, but if you're visiting the area it's a good and reasonably priced place to stay. read more

Stayed there for two and a half weeks for a business trip and everything was great except for the lack of decent and stable internet. After 6pm and randomly through out the day the bandwidth drops to dial up speeds or nothing. When it was addressed to the hotel staff with proof they said the manager and Internet provider said there was nothing wrong. When calling the hotels Internet troubleshooting line they provide on check-in they blame it on the actual Internet provider. If you need Internet find some where else. read more

For some reason all the hotels in this town have the same sad decor and it's all rather worn, this hotel is no different. So why choose this over another? Well they have coffee on all day and night, the breakfast is ready when advertised, and it is cleaner than many including the one downtown. read more

Just had to give five stars. We have stayed here each year for many years as we visited family here. Our stay is usually four nights. We have always had good stays in this very reasonably priced, clean and friendly hotel. This year, I made the reservations later than normal and with La Crosse being a big vacation spot, the only room available was a handicap room on the first floor. We prefer top floor and away from the elevators for ultimate quiet. So, I called and was told that they, like all the other hotels in La Crosse were full. The person on the desk said that she would make a note of our request. Then on arrival, we met Emriana who was working the front desk. When I told here of our request, she said that she had already made the switch. She had us on the top floor, at the end of the hall away from the elevator. She even recognized us from previous stays. So, even though the hotel would still be full, Emmi made sure that we were able to be in our preferred room. And, the room was even a larger room. Thank you Emmi, you are a gem, and we know that Holiday Inn Express is lucky to have you on their staff. read more

The check in was quick, but it went downhill much quicker. I opened my door and was surprised at how large the room was. I walked to the window to open the curtains and discovered one of the curtain pulls was no longer attached. Ok. Not a deal breaker. Went to wash my hands and the drain plunges was permanently down preventing the water from draining. On my way out to dinner, I asked the front desk if maintenance could fix it. No maintenance was available, so she offered me a new room down the hall. Moved my stuff to the new room only to discover of smelled like smoke. Ick! Called the front desk to let them know, and they didn't seem to care. The smoke detector in both rooms is dark orange from age. Isn't there a 10 year replacement standard? The mirror in the first room was covered in dried water drops. The window in the second room was covered in dozens of hand prints. If you are expecting a five star hotel, you won't find it here. If you don't mind using your expensive perfume to "freshen" the room, this is the place for you. read more

I wanted to like this place, I really did. They have spacious rooms and the place seemed decent and thought it was, especially having the name Holiday Inn. They love to charge for it, but deep down there is evil lurking. After finding what we did I wanted to pack up and leave,but my 1 yr old daughter was very very tired and so were we. We just got everything set up including my daughters pack n play. Pulled back the sheets on the bed and found hair, not just a strand of hair, multiple long black strands. My husband went to the front desk to get new sheets. We were getting ready to change them and pulled the sheets back the rest of the way. you could still see the indents in the sheets where the previous people laid, but that wasn't the disturbing part. There was a used bandage stuck to the bed down by the foot. Clearly the sheets were never changed from the people who had this room prior. This is extremely disturbing. We just paid 132$ to stay here when I could get this type of quality at a 50$ run down joint down the street. We changed the sheets ourselves and notified the front desk, showing them the bandage and hair. The lady behind the counter said she would bring it up to the housekeeping manager. I will never stay at this hotel again. Oh and they allow pets, we had a dog across the hall barking for the last 25 minutes. Ridiculous. Back again adding a few more things we found, the heater in the room was scratched and had some weird green stuff dripped and stained on it, and underneath where the heater plugs In, isn't even plugged into a wall it's plugged into a wired outlet laying on the floor WITHOUT an outlet cover on it. The location is great. Easy to get to, right off the highway. Great location for the passer-through. This is not a 3 star hotel though. That is what Hotwire categorized it as. It's obviously an older Hotel that has been poorly "remodeled." We had a room with two queen beds and a pullout couch. I'm sure glad I didn't have any guests or kids staying with us in our room that would want to use the couch. There were stains all over it. We found hairs in one of the beds, so we used the other one. It was already rather late and it was just easier than trying to deal with switching the room. The positives were the friendly staff and the breakfast in the morning. Both were delightful. I think we'll pass this place by the next time we are through though. read more
