I chose the days in in Gallup, New Mexico, for my most recent pass through the area. The young man at the desk when I arrived was exceptional. Polite and informative, and an example of customer service at its finest. The room was as expected. While the king size bed wasn't the most comfortable I slept well on it and was only awakened one time by the passing trains. The ice machine in my part of the building was out of order however another one was available. The floor in the bathroom had some gaps in it, which should be addressed as they could provide a trip hazard. All in all, a pleasant stay for a road weary traveler. Travel safe. read more

This was the worst hotel experience I have had in over 10 years. Filthy bathrooms, breakfast area was filthy, juice left uncovered, no options for breakfast food, machines out of order, lobby smells like curry, parking lot had trash, blood on the interior room curtain, no tissue stocked, hair in the bed, no staff on duty overnight... every trash can was filthy. When you check-in, there's a man from India on a TV, but no physical person. I requested a room away from anyone above me, as there were only a few cars in the entire parking area. He put me below a guy who was making noise all night. The walls are paper thin, the ceilings crack like thunder, everything in the rooms is from the early 90s except the TV. I paid for the room through booking.com but the owner hard charged my deposit onto my credit card the day I checked out. The deposit was supposed to be returned within a couple business days but this thief owner from India charged me the $50 deposit plus something else. The deposit should've remained a pending charge until it was reversed. We noticed when we pulled up that this hotel was essentially empty except for an abandoned SUV, the owner's car, and 1 other car on the side of the property. The room was so filthy we didn't even use the shower. I provided a screenshot showing the double-charge. The booking.com transaction is followed by a hard charge the following day. I think this hotel owner does this assuming either people won't notice or people won't report him. I would also like to point out that I sunk about a foot into the mattress. I wanted to like this hotel. But the experience continues to disappoint on every level. Let's start with the guy from India on a TV that greets you at check-in instead of an in-person concierge. The side door to the hotel doesn't lock. Ever. There was no lotion in the bathroom. The hot tub was nasty/cloudy and we made our boys shower after they swam in the pool. Beds and pillows were terribly uncomfortable. Breakfast was a huge disappointment. No yogurt, oatmeal, limited traditional continental breakfast items. This place looks like they are desperately trying to get shut down by the health department. They ran my wife's debit card before we even arrived. The advertised pool was closed. The advertised laundry room was closed. The room they gave us was filthy and in disrepair, didn't have lightbulbs, and the toilet didn't work. They had occupancy warning notices posted that appeared that a number of the rooms are untenable. The location is next to an abandoned Travelodge and appears to be unsafe. The parking lot is in complete disrepair. Within minutes of entering the room I went back to the desk and requested the refund and the clerk said no. Then after I stood there and explained that was unacceptable he said his manager would do it Monday. If I could give negative starts I would. This place should be shut down. read more

This motel probably peaked in the 1950's & it has been downhill ever since. But the room was clean so if you can't get a room at a modern hotel this beats sleeping in the car. And the Saturday flea market is a sight to behold but don't bother going out of your way for the flea market. For instance, there was a vendor trading wood for broken generators. Found on Bring Fido, and I almost didn't want to let my pups sleep on that filthy carpet! The reception was not great both coming and going, there is no-place on the property for the pups to go potty, not that they need a lot but it's all rocky and dirt. the floors in the room felt like they were caving in, I thought I would drop to the first floor during my shower. I'm sad because I am a Wyndham property owner and I would have expected better from them. Not sure why anyone would give this place more than a one. Don't worry about the outside, remember, don't judge a book by its cover! The room I had was very clean, the shower had amazing water pressure and stayed hot for 20 minutes, 4 pillows on the king size bed and quiet all night long. I ask you, what else do you need? The walkway outside the room was covered by some kind of floor covering that belongs to commercial kitchen in order to council the dilapidated condition of concrete underneath but even that was patched by duct tape. This is the only place that I have seen lately which has old tube TV. Just don't be cheap and go to next cheapest. read more

The one star is for the awesome ladies running the front desk. Very nice to us as we checked in after midnight and then tried to check out in the early evening the next night-- ditching the place for the El Rancho, even after renting on Hotwire. This place was scary. And I grew up in Stockton. This is like something in downtown Stockton. Mind you, Gallup is (allegedly) large enough to have TWO Day's Inns! Stay in the other one. Don't stay in this one. It was gross, scary and I'm not being a wimp-- it's not an ok place. Seriously. Take a road trip, be adventurous.. just skip this place-- there's no reason for this. We picked this hotel because of the Hotel booklet provided by the New Mexico welcome center. When we checked in, they informed us of the room as advertised in the booklet was not available. They charged us $10 more. There should be free HBO movies but the service was not working. The one good thing is that there is wi fi. Welllllllllll, we thought we'd be crafty and book a couple nights ahead for our road trip into New Mexico. We cruised in to the first of our 2 planned nights at the Days Inn East around midnight and here's how things went: Checked in, no problem. Then we went to our motel room. It was one of those swipe cards that has to be presented just so in order for it to work. OK, a little English on the card and we finally get access to our room. Peel back the covers, there's a big black hair there, ok, we can deal because the sheets smelled clean and we could try to ignore the stains. Blood stains? Vomit stains? We report, you decide. Cigarette ash on the counter, alright, let's just get over it and go to bed. Hmmm, the bathtub has something clogging the drain so while I was taking a shower a "generous" pool of water inched halfway up my calf. Did I mention that I could hold my breath and run out the door and reach the railroad tracks? Know what that means? TRAINS. All night, in all their train goodness. I have nothing against trains; I agree that they are vital for the transport of hobos and goods. However, I now know what Bruce Springsteen was talking about when he sang "At night I wake up with the sheets soaking wet and a freight train running through the middle of my head". Have you had a tough breakup and when you went to sleep that night you just couldn't get to sleep because your heart was pounding so hard either because of regret, anger, saddness, fear, or a mixture of a bunch of emotions? Imagine that same physiological response but fearing (I'll admit, perhaps irrationally) for your life. We were on the ground floor and we were both pretty certain that we were going to die that night considering that next to us was the Ambassador Hotel, where we're fairly certain a decent number of 'tutes meet their end. 2 stars because the staff were all very friendly and the place is amazingly cheap (we got our room for $40) but overall I would say to steer clear...at least to the Days Inn West down the road. Who knew that Gallup, NM was big enough to have two Days Inns? Or, better yet, flee to the El Rancho down Hwy. 66. We did for our second night and were much, much happier. read more

This hotel violated our rights far beyond anything I could have imagined. They entered our rooms before check out illegally and I was screamed at by the maintenance man to get off the property after having had a heart attack exactly a week before . They refused any refund until the police were called. The owner told my friend that as women we should not be traveling alone not knowing there was a young male in the car. Which really was none of his business. Even with the police officer there they tried to accost me including stepping in front of my moving car. The only redeeming quality of this place was the young man that worked at night. He tried so hard to find us an acceptable room. If I could give 0 stars I would. Obviously ...this ain't a Holiday Inn Express. We requested a rollaway bed and paid an add'l fee. We returned from dinner with the bed, one sheet, and a gross blanket thrown in the room. We immediately went to the front desk for the second sheet and pillow for the bed. Pillows were denied and a fight ensued with the RUDE, HORRIFIC, and utterly MISERABLE clerk over the need for a second sheet. She argued that we only needed one sheet and to sleep on the DISGUSTING mattress and/or blanket. Really?! The manager just stood there and did nothing. The rooms were basic and in need of cleaning/upgrades. We would have left if it hadn't been prepaid for on an internet site. I-40 got slick and I was skidding around on bridges. I was ready to be off the road. We found the Days Inn on th' old GPS and put in a call to reserve a room. That cheap? Really? DANGER signs started flashing in my head. But I'm here the next morning! Alive, showered, and not on fire! And all of my belongings are still in my car, which is still sitting outside! This is the worst days inn I have ever stayed in. Price on line said one thing they charged another. Had nowhere else to go so stayed anyway. Breakfast...????what breakfast??? Got there at 8am all they had was cereal, waffles and frozen eggs!!!!!! No fruit, no toast, no danish, no bagels that's it!!!!!! Why pay extra for breakfast when there isn't anything! Oh and don't think you'll get a quiet nights sleep. You can hear every car truck toilet flush and shower running!!! There is one chipped coffee cup for 2 people and 1 drinking glass for 2 people! They would have done better to put in paper cups! And the swimming pool is broken so kids couldn't even swim for relaxation since the tv couldn't go to ANY other channels except 25-47. Well I'm glad our experience wasn't as bad as other people's on here. It actually could have been great...if not for the morning staff and bullshit manager. So it started off well, my boyfriend and I check in late at night and we ask for a room with one bed for the two of us. We also present our AAA membership and ask for the final price. At first she gives us a price higher than what's advertised outside, when we asked why she proceeds to say this exact phrase "Oh that's right you have this (indicating AAA membership), right ok we can do the room for that price then." We thank her, get the key and move into our room for the night. The room is clean and what I would expect from a motel like Days Inn. We actually were completely satisfied and happy to settle in to a nice big warm bed. I know there's train noise, but both of us were tired and fell asleep fine. We DO both wake up though when some guy starts shouting profanity and stomping around outside. This isn't something I would take a star away for though, its not within the control of the hotel. So why such a low rating? Well THIS happens: At about 8:30 in the morning I ask my boyfriend to go get breakfast for us while I shower since they stop "serving" at 9am. I knew it was just cereal and toast so I figured it wouldn't be a big deal. I was wrong. After I get out of the shower my boyfriend comes in clearly frustrated. I ask him what's wrong and he explains that the person at the front desk told him we were only charged for one person the night before and we owed them more money. My reactions is first this: No, we clearly specified two people and we were both standing right there when we checked in. Second: There's no good reason why the price should be different for 1 person versus 2, it's the exact same room... so that's BS anyway. And finally I paid cash, so I really don't care that they THINK they have a right to charge us more...I'm not paying. He then says they wouldn't let him take the meager breakfast items into our room. There's a fridge, microwave and coffee maker...explain to me again how food isn't allowed in the room. When my boyfriend makes this point to the manager he simply doesn't respond. Stupid, have an explanation if you are going to enforce policies that make no sense. The main concern is the payment though. So we both go to checkout ready for a fight, but decide to start with a soft approach. We explain that we don't think it's right to allow a customer to stay in a room for an agreed upon price, and then change it the next day. The manager insists that people are "human" and make mistakes. We then say yes, but if YOU make the mistake then you should eat the cost. His meaning becomes clear when he says, "sometimes customers make the mistake." I couldn't believe what he was implying, how could WE have made the mistake? WE didn't type up the invoice and process the transaction. We simply showed up and gave them the agreed upon money. So he's essentially accusing us of lying about the number of people in our room...all TWO of us. We start to get heated at this point and once again explain that we were both clearly standing right there and furthermore verbally specified 2 people were in the room. This was NOT our mistake. My boyfriend takes the route of, "look it's $10 we don't care about the money, but it's really a principal issue now". It's simply wrong to change the amount on us the morning after, especially with such a hostile attitude like we're to blame. The manager then says "I really don't need the $10, you have a nice day" and dismisses us. LOL, ok "RICH" guy..how predictable that once we made the amount sound petty you backed off. We walked away shaking our heads, that is NOT how you treat a customer. We are both small business owners, we were staying in Gallup for work as a matter of fact. We KNOW how to treat customers and if EVER there is a pricing dispute we are never accusatory. And if it's post-transaction we would never even bother them in the first place, that's OUR fault if we don't charge the customer properly. Why? Because if we treat them like we are only after their dollar they won't want to come back. So yah, we aren't ever staying here again...and since we are likely to be back again on business, that's a shame for you. read more

The staff was friendly, no issue there. It is the room that I stayed in that reminded me of a dingy MOTEL. Checked in after 10pm, and the room was absolutely freezing. Apparently they do not turn the heater on, so be ready to freeze for a good hour before any kind of warm air comes out of that heater. The towels were stained and dirty, the bathtub was dirty, and very low water pressure in the shower. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean, but I would have expected better for a Days Inn. Do not stay here! You will not get any sleep. The walls are so thin you can hear people talking in the next room and even hear them when they are urinating in the toilet!! This motel is nestled along a railroad track and the train conductors make sure to blow their horns hourly all through the night. It was chilly so I turned the heater on and it smelled like burning dust which made my eyes burn. Outside there was a massive dog brawl that sounded like ten dogs fighting and screaming at once. There was a dead cockroach belly up in the bathroom. The shower floor looks filthy -I wouldn't put my dog in it. And worst of all, the pillows and bedding smell like someone's nasty body grease. I've been driving all day and have a long drive ahead of me in the morning. I just wanted a nice hot shower and a clean and comfortable place to sleep. Total waste of $and got NO sleep. The reason I came here was because of the great experience at the Days Inn in Marana AZ. I realize now that the company doesn't practice consistency with quality amongst their establishments. We came here because everywhere was booked, and it was a mistake. It was so cheap, and I could see why. The room was dingy, the tv was old, and in the bathroom, there was a big chunk of the wall that looked like something was ripped off the wall and missing a big chunk of paint. The tub was crusty and gross, and the continental left something to be desired for, so we went to Cracker Barrel instead. Also, the hotel is in an industrial area that's not well lit, so it creeped me out. Stay somewhere closer to the freeway, and avoid this stretch of town. read more

Their pillows blow, but part of that is my fault for not traveling with pillow in tow. They are located across the street from the railroad tracks which seems to keep their prices down. For two queen/full beds it was 39.99 (per person?) a night. I slept okay. Bathroom door stuck but such is life. I was ready to be out of there so didn't sample the towels or toiletries on offer. Any motel is kind of a "ew, but I need to sleep somewhere otherwise" choice that one makes. We slept here for the night and left without any bed bugs so that much I am thankful for. My husband has been staying here week after week, after week. Today I have to draw the line. He drives 12 hrs to get to work, goes straight to work a 12 hr shift. I make the reservations online for him, he's listed as "the guest", so the general manager is aware he is the guest, and I'm the wife paying in advance for his weekly reservation. Today he gets there, I'm on the phone having a conversation with him, they're taking a while to give him his room because of their system issues..... he pulls a chair and sits because he's exausted, he finally gets his room, and he calls me and told me to call the front office and check to see if their was any problems, because he's so tired he didn't pay much attention. To the general manager. So I called as he asked me to x she tells me that she was having system problems. I simply just said in a real calm voice because I currently have lerangitus, " wouldn't it have been just common courtesy to let him know that you were having system issues?" You'd think I called her mother names...with what disrespectful attitude she got. She immediately begins to yell, telling me.." your not the one here!" , "you don't have nothing to say", " you need to learn how to speak english- and I'm a citizen of the USA....I speak English fluently, she's the one with the bad accent. I hang up instead and call my husband to let him know that the hotel was having system issues. This General Manager that's working the shift now 5pm to 6pm today, had the gaul to call my husband's room, woke him up to tell him that he was the one staying not me. That o shouldn't be calling. She didnt care who was paying, that he needed to leave. So I called the front desk to clarify if he needed to leave, she started yelling again, and I told her I wanted to speak to the owner because they are a Franchise for Windha. She said I can give you their number. No maam, my reservations are with a 3rd party and their is a mutual respectful contract that she has to abide by, but from reading so many ugly comments about her, my question to them...why is this general manager still their? Rhymes with Hilda...., I have the CEO's cell number because they care so much about their customers that it's online. This General Manager is so very disrespectful, unprofessional, very sour, hateful, disrupting, has no education what's so ever. She prefers for us to go somewhere else and pay in advance, weekly fees, because I'm not the one staying, and she doesn't have to talk to me in her world. ..she's the owner.......what does the public think I should do? Do you think I should take her advise and take my business somewhere else... .hm....add it up, he's even staying their for the past 3 months , at $44 plus tax a night, paid weekly by debit.
