    The tub
    Brittney B.

Hotel Hell. Usually I'm not the one to complain, or give a bad review.. But staying here, was a terrible experience, and this is a never again! Including since I was on a business trip! Driving four hours is already semi crazy, then getting to the Days Inn where the service is rude, of course is going to add anxiety.. They demanded a credit card, even though they took my boss's credit card the previous night. I head up to the room after a long day! And this is what I come to find in the room! Bugs! Dirty tub that looks like it was left dirt and grime from it not being able to drain properly! The air conditioner was not cleaned out, and honestly I was super afraid to look at the filter! Breathing that in for people who have asthma like myself is super scary!! Finally they put me into a king size room... I pulled the bed out in front of them & the manager looked me dead in my face and asked me if I was allergic to dust? People who have asthma are not allergic to dust but it makes it hard for us to breathe! On top of that, he told me the cleaning services don't get behind the bed!! What? How do you put the clean sheet on? If you don't pull the bed back even just a little?? Then the next morning, the same "manager" was standing outside my door, almost making me think they were listening to me to leave because he said, "oh good, I was getting ready to knock" "I need those photos you showed me yesterday" as I'm walking out!!! Leaving to my job!!! Please please please!! Do not stay here! You will get harassed & told you are a liar even when there is photograph proof. Don't try it. Ever. Much love though! Xoxo Brittney

I am a business traveller and recently stayed at the Day's Inn, Gillette for 7 nights. As Group Coordinator I had arranged for several colleagues also staying at the same hotel. I chose this hotel mainly due to its proximity to a local work-related event we were attending. THE PRO'S: Credit where it's due: the Day's Inn has comfy beds and polite front desk management who, for the most part, appear eager to please. THE CONS: One of the front desk managers had agreed repeatedly that we could settle our bill when we checked out, but upon arrival at the hotel he changed his tune and nervously insisted we each pre-pay for our rooms there and then. (perhaps he knew what sort of crummy experience we were about to have, and was afraid we would bolt before our 7 nights were up). Given our business event was about to start we didn't have time or resources to look for an alternative hotel. So we reluctantly complied and each pre-paid him for our rooms. The room had 2 queen beds, and a kitchenette, fridge and microwave. But no no plates, cups, or silverware. The room has an AC unit that wheezed so loudly and non-rhythmically that first night that I had to find a music station on my cellphone and play it all night in an attempt to drown out the sound. As for the aroma, the room smelled extremely stale, and wherever I looked there was dust, dirt, and on the handrail on the wall above the bath, I saw a mildew/toothpaste-looking substance which I didn't dare touch. (what IS that stuff?!) The floors and bathroom were not clean. The hotel's handyman showed up unannounced (except for a knock at the door). The front desk didn't bother tell me he was on his way up. He pulled out the dirty filter in the AC unit and rinsed it off in my bathroom sink, right next to my personal items, like my toothbrush. He then inserted the filter back into the AC unit, while it was still wet, insisting there's no harm in doing this. (really? what about promoting the growth of mold and mildew?) I was immediately glad that the AC stopped wheezing, but a moment later disgusted that the room still smelled like a wet dog chewing an old sock. Repair man said he couldn't smell anything, and that anyway each room in the hotel tended to smell like its occupant. (is that a veiled insult, perhaps? How could you say such a thing to a guest! I had just moved in, and was NOT the cause of the musty smell in the room!) REPLACEMENT ROOM: The front desk promised to give me a better-maintained room in the morning, also with 2 Queen beds and a kitchenette. But as an interim room that night they gave me a smaller room, with a King bed. But this room also turned out to be dirty, albeit in different places. For example, when I about to take a shower I saw human hair on the "fresh" towels. The next day the Front Desk renewed their offer to move me again, but by now I was exhausted, and had little confidence that the third room would be in a better condition than the first two. To cap it all off, in the first room the two men who function as hotel maids had thrown out my bag of food and my computer power plug, both of which were on the counter. When I confronted they acted like I never had those items there in the first place. Front desk have promised to compensate me for the "lost" items. It's been a couple of days since I checked out: let's see if the credit on my card comes through, and soon. THE FIRE: One of the members of my team had placed his laptop in the safe that was in his room. He later told me, "We knew our passcode. The safe broke." So the hotel's handyman was called to take action. He took the safe down to his workroom on the first floor and using some sort of blowtorch proceeded to cut the door open. The heat and smoke generated by this activity triggered the hotel's fire alarm system to which began to sound loudly. (He later said he told the front desk manger to disable the alarm before it could start sounding and disturbing the guests, but the front desk manager separately said she never received any such instruction. Whatever. Not getting in the middle of that.) We ran down the stairs and saw that on the 2nd floor the loud alarm was accompanied by lights flashing, we had to evacuate our rooms. When we reached the lobby we could smell smoke but the front desk manager told us to return to our rooms. Really? I later learned that this sort of smoke-fire-alarm situation has happened multiple times at the Day's Inn Gillette when other guests who also choose to protect their valuables in the safe that's in their room at the Day's Inn. The handyman has since promised to remove all safes from the hotel as they are not worth the hassle. (I trust he'll check that they're actually empty before he does this). CONCLUSION: There is some good news: Day's Inn Gillette charged each of us so much per night for our stay that they will soon have enough to start paying for their much needed renovations. I'll leave you to guess whether we'll be back.

I checked in here very late at night and didn't research it before checking in so I had no preconceived notions. The young lady working overnight at the front desk was very helpful and very pleasant. The lobby looked clean but I could smell that old musty cigarette smoke odor coming from the hallway. The room at first glance seemed clean and roomy enough for 1 person looking for a few hours of sleep. If you look closer you see that only the most visible areas get cleaned on a regular basis. The edges of the carpet hadn't been vacuumed in a while and the handles and faucets were dirty. The bath towels are like sandpaper so you can get dried and exfoliate at the same time. I think if they did a better job of cleaning and banned smoking on their premises they might be okay. I won't be returning to this place when other options are available.

Bar of used soap with hair

This place is cheap which is great for saving money but you can see where they stop there. The room upon walking in not only had a stale smell of air but also there was hair on the sink in, the hairdryer and the tub. But to top it off there was USED soap in the shower with MORE HAIR! I did housekeeping before so I know that sometimes you miss things but really?

This place was a dump. The bedbugs were bad. Left little red spots all over me. Never stay here again.

Unfortunately, from the moment we arrived, it was clear the room had not been properly cleaned. We found hair in the shower and bathroom sink, which was unpleasant, but we initially tried to give housekeeping the benefit of the doubt. As we looked around the room, it became obvious that the previous guests had stayed in the room with a romance package. There were rose petals under the bed, bobby pins left on the floor, and rose petals still scattered around the jetted tub. The worst part was finding hair in the filter of the whirlpool tub and on it. It was honestly disgusting and made us question whether the room had been cleaned at all before our arrival. To the staff's credit, they did move us to a different room. While the second room was cleaner, it still had cleanliness issues that should not have been overlooked. We found a hair in the bed, hair in the shower, and trash that had not been taken out from the previous guest. At that point, it was clear that housekeeping standards were a recurring problem rather than a mistake. The staff's willingness to move us was appreciated, but the overall experience was disappointing. Cleanliness is one of the most basic expectations when staying at a hotel, especially when paying for a premium suite. I hope management takes a serious look at housekeeping procedures and room inspections so future guests do not have the same experience.
